So unlike the Happiness Jun OVA Otoboku 13 is not that great of fan fodder as the Queen of Traps becoming a biological female. Its like they decided that Shrek did not do a through job of making fun of Disney Classics (since most of us have never read the real versions). Thus to rectify the situation they decided that using lots of SD and using puns like Tsunderella would be box office gold…

I don’t think that this ep is suitable for a summary as it would simply kill what rather scant entertainment value it has. Its good for a single run and has its moments, but it quickly sputters out of fuel.

I see a silhouette of a girl. Takako. Takako will you do the fandango?

While the SD in the series was unique after going through 23 minutes with it nearly constantly on I have little inclination to see it used again. That is not to say that the voice actresses were not having a bit of fun with it, but I can’t shake the feeling that the budget was down to nearly nothing since the beginning and end were recycled and the over use of SD was probably there mask the lack of enthusiasm and cash.

Thunder and lighting very very frightening me. Galileo. Galileo.

In fact the use of SD might have been premeditated torture, after all how many viewers watched this series of the fat faces and diaper panties? I doubt that there were many and now that it is all over and done with I am glad that it was very fanservice light. It could have easily degenerated into a sausage fest but since some higher power ruled that SD was to be dominant that hardly came into play.

While it was not dominated by fanservice I felt that they could have used this a bit more constructively.

On the plus side the evilness of Takako was a joy to behold though her overwhelming presence meant that everyone else essentially had a minor role. Another plus was that there was more blood shown here than in the previous 12 eps. Also some one gets thrown under a bus so it wasn’t a complete bore through and through.

Remeber this H-gamers the next time you indulge yourselves…that your fore bearers were fapping to 8-bit sprites.

Verdict: If you loved Takako this might tickle your fancy, otherwise if you hated the SD before you have been warned. It is a decent time killer as time killers go but nothing really here to jump for. At times the comedy is dead on but more often or not it tends to get little more than a smirk. Not even cries of onee-sama can save this from mediocrity at times.

Kissing scene of Takako x Mizuho. Now, that is the most pairing ever, a pseudo yuri pairing that will win the hearts of many viewers!

Even so, Takako does not seem to be able to handle the hawt kiss by Mizuho, so maybe it is a bad thing but she is still so cute. She made me watch this episode more than 10 times already…Well, more like the two amusing scenes at the very least.

She should really stop reading the wrong version of “Romeo and Juliet”.

Although I knew that comics are hard to draw, I never realised HOW hard it could be. Even this badly produced one took me a long time, so I hope you all got a laugh out of it!

Yukari: Onee-chan also used to say how much she loves to do long distance running. She says it builds up stamina and then smiles like a beautiful adult. I wonder what she means. Whatever it means, I must run fast and far so that I build enough stamina!

And with that, I am going to take a stand and say that Otome episode 5 is still good, without too much of the humor. It contradicts with what I say on episode 3, but this episode flows well enough.

Mariya found out about Ichiko and revealed to her that Mizuho is in fact a guy as she swept his skirt up. Ichiko did not mind, and said it was her wish to be the bride of her onee-sama. At first, when Yukari found out, she totally freaked out and fell sick. They then went over to school, with Mizuho troubled. Back in the house, Ichiko was trying all her means to get out of the hostel with no avail. As she saw a door open, she went in, totally freaking poor Yukari out until Ichiko started crying as well. After that, everyone in the hostel got used to Ichiko and her appearance.

On the other hand, Mizuho went to the library to check out on the history of ex-elders in order to know who Ichiko’s elder was. Takako freaked out when Mizuho talked about spirits but still pointed her to the books that the student council had. It was in fact her mother as we got into a dreamy sequence where Mizuho saw the vision of her mother, as well as the fact that her mother was already dead now.

She then came back, only to notice that Ichiko was crying because she was scared that Mizuho would disappear if she was to sleep again. Mizuho then held her hands, bringing her to the church where Mizuho promised to marry her. Ichiko was delighted as she floated up in the sky in a brilliant light, doing what her mother could not last time. As she returned back, Ichiko was there waiting, leaving Mizuho completely bewildered.

Now I can fully understand why in the official contest between the Otoboku characters, Takako won the official competition. I mean, look at the sequence of events that happened.

Episode overview

Mariya was telling ghost stories, with Yukari freaking out and the other two being interested about the ghost stories. It was then realized that Mizuho’s grandfather had decreed Mizuho to stay in the north section by himself, rather than horror stories. Mizuho then asked the student council president about it, who freaked out. During the night, Yukari was worried about the ghost and slept together with Mizuho. When Mariya came over the next morning, she went berserk as she thought that Mizuho had done “something” with Yukari, especially when Yukari said something like “Oh sister, more please”…

Oh oh.

Eventually, she cleared the misunderstanding but Kana rushed over to tell a story that there was in fact a girl who died 22 years ago in the same room after failing to wait for her onee-sama who was out. Then, as they returned back to the room, the room’s light started to flicker and then blackout, as everything was moving. Kana went to check the closet and the charm that was placed to protect the room was broken, as the spirit of the girl who died, Ichiko, appeared. She starts to rape Mizuho with her hyperactiveness, eventually realizing that she was dead. However, Mizuho eventually got her to rest and the next day, Mariya found Mizuho with another girl again. She went berserk….again.

I KNEW IT. i knew Mizuho is going to advance on one of the girls! He is just a fricking playboy that is waiting to prey on all the innocent girls like cute bubbly Yukari and sweet low self esteem moe~ Kana, hot and sizzling babe Mariya and eventually even to the older onee-sama styled Shion.

If you do not believe me, the above screenshots should explain almost everything I want to say. As said before, a picture speaks a thousand words.

I wonder what atrocities Mizuho did to poor Yukari to make her want more of him. Poor blushing Yukari asking for more. He is definitely a fiend among the roses, I tell you. He switched two partners in the matter of two days. What kind of guy would so happily switch his ermm partners that much. What a flirt. Look at the flippant flicking of his hair. He must be enjoying the whole sleep so much. All that pretence about him being a guy and not sleeping with girls is all a lie. ALL A LIE, I TELL YOU!

I am so sympathizing with Yukari now, especially when she finds out how much Mizuho is a flirt by happily bedding Ichiko the next day after giving her pleasure. Sigh, what is this? What has the world become? Why are all flirts getting all the hot sweet girls? He even has the guts to see Kana’s pantsu (which is blue and white striped by the way). Arghhhh!!!

Oh, and one more thing.

Ichiko is just about the most hyperactive character I have ever seen in my entire life. When I thought Tsuruya was hyperactive, I am so darn wrong. Ichiko is just inhuman. She is just about the strangest and most interesting character ever, considering how hyper she can be. I cannot imagine anyone talking that fast in real life.

Otome works well only when it comes back to the humor part. In my opinion, stay with humor because the humor can be ridiculously wicked at times. Do not try drama because it gets a little boring for me at the very least. Next week seems to be Ichiko-centric and I will be enjoying this quite a bit. Good, bring on Mariya!

Flying saucer detected! All beware, UFM (”Unidentified Flying Mizuho”) alert! Please, everyone keep to your seats. It is simply for viewing pleasure that you see a trap-san and without any pantsu shots flying across as though they are in a Titanic boat, saying “Can I fly?”

Episode summary

We had a dream sequence where Mizuho had a nightmare on the coming Elder elections and she woke up in a scream. It seems that Mariya, Kana and Yukari had plans in which to advertise for her, making it totally awkward, as she was still not sure whether she would participate in this elder contest. Mizuho also realized that she needed 75% of the votes in order to win.

As they went to class, Shion also showed her support of Mizuho and it seemed that the class is also keen for her to be elder, as it would be a honor if the elder sister was in their class. As Mizuho went for world history, she met up with the student president (I haven’t caught her name, Takako?) in the class and it was a hostile feeling from the student president.

She asked why Mizuho joined this class and Mizuho said it was simply because she prefered to join a fun class. When the question was posed back to Takako, she said that she did it to get a better grade and Mizuho said that it was expected of Takoko to have a serious outlook. When the class ended, Takako warned Mizuho not to get her friends to spread unwanted rumors and tales, as the elder selection is not a popularity contest.

When Takako got back to her council office, the other council members are planning measures to spread the word for her but Takako chased them away, saying that it would be similiar to what Mariya and the rest are doing. The scene changed and Mizuho asked Mariya what she was spreading and the answer came when three unknowns came over and praised Mizuho for her “wonderful tales”. God knows what tales were spread.

The day finally came as the school students were asked to go to the hall for the final selection of the Elders. It seemed that all of them had been working hard to garner votes for Mizuho as they all sat down. As the teacher came out to speak the results, Mizuho won with an overwhelming 82% approval. However, Takako went up to stage, saying that this is not following tradition and it becomes simply a popularity contest that is made to look stupid.

However, Shion went up and said that the Elder should be a person that the whole school respects and should be someone that everyone can respect and vote for. She then asked if Takako was agreeableand it seemed that Takako had the hots for Shion so she did not mention. Shion then fainted due to over exertion (she was never that strong in constitution) as Mizuho rushed to pick her up and brought her to the rest area to sleep. As Shion woke up, Mizuho was glad but Shion urged her to go back and that she was fine. With that, Mizuho went back and she was greeted by everyone and that she was recognised as the elder. Even Takako agreed as she said she had only stood there, while Mizuho rushed over and brought Shion there. Takako acknowledged that Mizuho was special.

Thoughts

Where are my chibi shots??? I really like it when they make it all chibi like because the chibi is one of the key reasons why I watched this show. I do not understand why people say that this is worse than Strawberry panic. To me, SP is just a fricking lesbian show, not even considered as subtle yuri. That is why I appreciate Maritime much more, as it never explictly shows the girls having sex and all naked.

Bleah, bad taste.

Anyway, unlike normal chibi shows where the chibi is mostly cute, this chibi version is more hilarious, which fits for me, since the chibis fit the character very well. Also, I must add that Mariya is really the spiritual presence of Asa, the greatness green haired gal from Shuffle. She is really robust and I like it when she hits the back of Mizuho very hard. Man, she really rocks a lot with her genki and evilness to win.

I wonder if Mariya can cook as well? It will be great and I really like it because she is usually the catalyst for 99.9% of the pervertic or yuri scenes in this series and it is always great fun when she appears. Of course, there is not much Kana other than the occasional Onee-sama but it’s cute enough just to hear her voice. I do not have to reiterate to add that having low self esteem = moe logic anymore. It is as self-explainatory as my green haired gals are hot logic.

That said, I have a criticism of the show which is that there are way too many characters for any character development. I know it’s a comedy. I know that i am not supposed to watch too deeply for this show. However, I can still say what I feel can be improved since I feel that there are many characters that can have better development if it was expanded with more episodes. The show is still fine though and this episode is slightly on the more serious side.

One last thing is that I am glad that they did not drag this elder thing too long. It will be overly drama and all that. It doesn’t feel rushed too, which is a good thing.

Next episode seems to be about ghosts in the dorm. What would Mizuho do to tempt the ghost out?

Yuri….Mariya and Shion yuri = awesome.

Man, Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru (gosh, such a long name) is really good, if only it can make its name shorter and easier for poor impzie to remember it. I mean, what’s wrong during this fall season. The summer season has generally been rather kind to me, having rather short names such as Aria, Bokura ga ita, Zero no Tsukaima and all the simple titles that can be easily remembered. Now, we have a dozen anime with names that are begging me not to remember them at any costs.

Oh well, anyway, I really like most of the characters in this series. Kana is cute. Mariya is just flirty hot. Shion is pretty upper class cuteness. Mizuho is just….wrong. That is because she he is really cute as a guy but he is more of an androgyous character.

Episode summary

The first scene starts with Mizuho coming down to class and realises the existence of Shion, the black haired girl that had gone Gokigenyo on him while he walked past. As Mizuho opened his pencil box, he noticed a giraffe eraser that was planted by Mariya and started being sad as it was cute without any good usage. Shion then offered and exchanged their erasers. Mizuho was starting to think that Shion was a really high class lady that was really beautiful and a student that everyone would admire.

Mizuho then went to the toilet, rushing in to see if there was no one in the toilet. He could not control it anymore as he did his business. As he came out, Shion mentioned that he had left his zipper on as he checked. The scene was cut as we see Shion and Mizuho in a small clearing in a garden, as Mizuho was caught speechless as Shion revealed that she knew that he was a guy. Mizuho tried to explain the situation but he knew that the secret was out. Mariya came over and realized that Shion knew all about it and was shocked.

However, Shion said that she would not speak a word about it. Then they went on some drama to say how Mizuho was in fact bullying them, making Mizuho go all confused. They were simply joking, as they said that the environment in the school prevented her from enjoying herself with harmless jokes and she felt that she would be good friends with Mizuho. The population already realized that Mizuho and Shion were very close friends as they ate together with Kana and Yukari.

It was now time for the people to change for basketball lessons for P.E as Mizuho started blushing after seeing everyone in various forms of undress. As Mariya noticed, she started to feel Mizuho all around his chest (fake, remember) and he was starting to blush immensely from the touch. Shion also joined in. As they got out to the court, Mizuho was thinking about how breasts will really feel under the touch and started saying that he was thinking pervertly. The ball came to him as he dribbled well and got the basketball into the net. He was then shocked as it seemed that he was being too robust but everyone swooned and said that he was not only good in studies and looks, but also on sports.

News came around and he was mentioned by Kana, Mariya, Shion and Yukari that she should be an “elder”, a student that gets the admiration of everyone due to her all around personality and a role model for everyone. Mizuho mentioned that Shion should be one but it seemed that Shion had been retained for one year due to illness and she was in fact the elder. She always felt that she had let down everyone as she went to hospital soon after being elder.

As they came down, they met up with the student president of the school, and Mariya and her had a nice bitching session. It seemed that she was a bit annoyed at Mizuho’s rumors of being elder, as it seemed that she would be the one getting it if no one else was contesting the post. She also felt that Mizuho had only transfered recently and knew nothing about the school. With that, Mizuho started to think what in the world was going on.

Thoughts

Mizuho is really funny with her antics. He is still trying so hard to be a female and I really really like all the chibi forms that suddenly appear. They always make me laugh, especially with Mariya’s random chibi modes. It is fricking amusing and I think it is a big draw for me.

Other than that, a good few laughs and we realize one more girl knows about who Mizuho really is. I mean, i really wonder how he can keep the padding on all the time without it deforming whatsoever. Oh well, we would not know how and I clearly do not want to know as well.

All in all, funny stuff and I enjoy it, even thought it can be a bit ecchi at times. However, what is a school anime with a trap-san as a main lead without any ecchi? That will be really darn cute. Light hearted humor works, this might be a big success if it continues on its nice path.

Ok, this is the first fall series anime that I laughed quite a bit. I guess without the laughter, the amount of serious drama that I am watching will hurt me. However, it is not just because of the need for balance that I watched this. This is yet another series where there is a trap-san. So technically, that makes three series that I watched that have trap-san. In Bokura ga ita, Takeuchi’s “sister” is a trap. In Happiness!, Jun, our lovely and hot okata is a trap too that is so cute as well. You go, Jun.

And now we have the main character that needs to cross dress in order to fulfil his grandfather’s will for him to join into the all girls school. Wonderful. He looked hot, maybe even cuter than Jun. No, no, it’s impossible for anyone to look cuter than Jun. Never!!!

Anyway, this seems like a possible keepers’ for me at least for a while, since I need a comedy of sorts to balance Asatte no Houkou, Bokura ga ita, Kanon and Red Garden that has no humor whatsoever. So yea. Read on for more information as usual.

Character

Mizuho: The pretty boy that cross-dresses as a gal in order to fulfil the will of his grandfather. He looks to be cute, especially with all the make up. He is also trying to manage the whole issue of being a gal right now and learning how to be one with pretty amusing situations to say the very least.

Mariya: Ok, is it just me but I feel Asa’s vibes here. She does the same cute stuff and is also rather violent in her ways. It is clear that she likes Mizuho quite a bit (Childhood friend, OMG CURSE!) but I wondered if she will be lucky like Asa. Well, no way, but she seems to be a very hyper girl that knows Mizuho’s real identity.

Kana: She is so cute! I really like her because she is so ditsy and shy. I mean, look at her lazy voice trying to swoon at Mizuho because Mizuho is so cute. Wahahaha! She reminds me of Rika from Higurashi, even though I am not sure whether this lazy-voiced VA is the same. If she goes miipa~, i am sure it’s her. Episode summary

Note: The cancellations are to show how confused I am. I actually assumed Mizuho to be a female in my head that i kept typing her/she. Sigh, so I am correcting it obviously to remind myself that he is a he.

Ok, Mizuho was asked by his grandfather to join the all girls school as a last wish in his will. Due to that, Mariya, his childhood friend, dressed him up to become an extremely beautiful lady. That was when he met with the school’s principal, who talked about the wish of his grandfather. The school teacher also knew about Mizuho’s identity and while walking to the class, tried to boost his confidence. As Mizuho felt better, she gave him a candy as a reward.

In class, she he was worried with the watchful gaze of his classmates that her his cover would be blown. However, everyone seemed to find her very pretty and all that. As she interacted with her friends, she suddenly need to go to the toilet. After failing to convince herself himself to go in, he decided to wait until he got back to the dorm. On the way back, he met with the main female lead with dark hair which said gokigenyou (a very formal hello).

Mizuho rushed over to the hostel, dropping all her his things to rush to the toilet. As he reappeared, Mariya scolded him, saying that he had much more to learn to be a lady. Then, Yukari returned and was very excited that Mizuho came as she had heard that Mizuho was very pretty. Makari directed Mizuho to his room and it was then Mizuho met up with his junior that would be taking care of him. Kana seemed to be of low esteem and guided Mizuho to her cute room.

Then, Makari came over to see how Mizuho was in her room. Mizuho saw Makari’s cleavage as she started to bend over and started to blush. Makari then undressed, having a pjyama inside her clothing, as they had a pjyama party for Mizuho. As Kana and Yukari felt all over Mizuho, Makari knew that the only way to make Mizuho comfortable was to make him suffer now.

Conclusion, i will watch it, though it will go down the path of ZnT in my previous writing, probably writing parodies of it…
