I was gazing through the list for an anime to review. As I clicked onto the Spring 2007 season anime, I realized that there was something that was begging to be revealed. I immediately screamed to Extrange (who was chatting with me online) that it is a wonder that none of the reviewers on the blog has mentioned this anime! It is funny, it is hilarious, it has some emotional drama and most of all, it has appealing quirky characters that will resonate to you.

Despite the lack of shoujo series due to the over crowding of cool shounen series, there are always a few lying around. This one is perhaps one of the decent comedy shoujo. The series, as you expect, is Lovely complex.

Story

Lovely Complex is a love story between a boy and a girl. This series plays on the height issue as Risa Koizumi, the main female lead, is much taller than most Japanese girls at 172 cm. The boy, Atsushi Otani, tips the scale at a magnificent 156 cm. As the two somehow just cannot seem to quit an argument against each other, they are called the school’s comedy duo or the “All Hanshin Kyojin” team. It is also noted that there is an extremely popular comedy duo that plays the height difference.

Risa is a girl who has never been in romance, while Atsushi seems somewhat stunned by his previous relationship where he was dumped. As the two experienced things together, the two finally warmed up as Risa realized that she has fallen in love with Otani. Otani, being the thick skull that he is, is completely oblivious to her reactions. The story goes on, depicting their love story, while talking about the antics of this comedy duo.

Why you should watch this

I know that some people have been turned off by the Kansai-ben dialect, spoken in the Kansai region. I do not know why there is such a hatred in the dialect, since I am no native Japanese. I, for one, like the rich offerings of humor in this series. I cannot remember a single episode where I do not have a good laugh. I do not deny that it is rather easy to induce laughter for someone who likes to laugh. Nevertheless, as a comedy series, it has done particularly well. Even the most stated joke “the height problem” is used sparingly. Jokes can run dry after a while when it is used all the time, and Lovely Complex does not fall that badly in that aspect.

Secondly, it is perhaps the personality of Otani and Risa that helps to make this anime a hit for me. Otani, the shortie, is a hilariously thick skulled guy with a personality that girls can only squirm with cuteness. Risa, despite her emotional fragility being a minus in some parts of the show, is equally quirky and unique. However, a word of caution is that you should not expect great romance in this show because it is somewhat plagued by the same situation that many shoujo anime suffered from: draggy relationships. If you can look over that and see it more as a comedy, this show is definitely for you. I mean, look at the random conversation at the second screenshot. It is classic Lovely complex humor.

With a group of 4 sidekicks (her best friends), Haruka, a trap and Maity-sensei, this is a series where there are enough quirky characters, with funny exchanges to keep you awake for most of the show. One of the huge incentives of the show is perhaps the side characters as stated. Their nosy behavior between Otani and Risa is rather hilarious as they go on all means to push the two together. I remember when Otani finally kissed Risa for real, I smiled. It’s worth the wait.

One more time is the upbeat soundtrack that I enjoy a lot. Both OPs and EDs are extremely happy and cheerful, making it a good after taste. I remember how I used Lovely Complex to cheer myself up after a horrible day at school or when I have an argument with my girlfriend. It tends to brighten up the day just a little, since the crazy antics of the characters is perhaps larger than life. I guess Lovely Complex is a show not meant to be taken too seriously, but good to liven up your life.

Well instead of doing summaries any more I am trying a new format since my guess it that most viewers are able to use the Chinese subs rather than waiting like poor old me for the English since I have no command of moonspeak and am now very much illiterate in Chinese. That being said A-chan better get off the fence soon, Maity the Mighty is about to strike…

Risa has a real funny appetite, even if A-chan has used rise ot insult her there is no reason to wipe it out from the menu. I like rice more than I like plain old bread, unless it comes with butter or jam though not Akiko’s Jammu. I love how Risa can creep out her entire family, it is surprising that her younger brother is taller than A-chan. Still the smart mouthed brat was completely freaked out when Risa showed off her new way of eating bread. One cannot help but admire the way she rolled with the snide preferring bread because of liking Cain-sama remark. It also helps that she put her mother into tears. Still if otome-games are such a big worry Risa’s family must be stable and pleasant indeed.

Nobu-mama reminds me of my domineering mother, every potential partner must go through screening. Too bad for her there’s no one to screen…

I really hate A-chan for the way he stepped up during the Risa-Maity moment. So what if Risa stole a kiss? She was just taking it back. As a matter of fact since A-chan was so pissed about getting kissed by Seiko-chan he should take it back this instant. Risa already told him that it was over, A-chan has no right to complain now how can he even be ditched when they were never officially together in the first place. So there is no need to be bitter now after spurring Risa’s advances it was bound to happen sooner or later, it just happened sooner. Besides Risa is not a sadomasochist, she wants to be happy not in perpetual anguish.

I have no idea what Risa drinks at lunch, but I want some. Risa tells Chiharu-chan and Nobu-chan baout giving up on A-chan. both implore her to reconsider, but the prospect of not becoming a couple until their golden years was disheartening. Insatead Risa wants to focus on her new love for Maity sensei. Nobu-chan becomes furious declaring that mother will never forgive Risa if she marries Maity. I have to say Nobu-chan is a maternal figure in Risa’s life. After all Nobu-chan is always looking out for Risa and consequently interfering in her love life, just like a real mom. Besides what kind of mother would approve of their daughter’s over obsession with otome-games?

The USDA recommends 11 servings of bread a day. It keeps you healthy.

Risa goes off to form the Maity Club and begins building an army of fangirls to take over the school. Maity has one of the best jobs in Japan he doesn’t even have to pay for compensated dating he just went straight to the source. Still I wonder what they were asking him. Was he a uke or seme? Did he make any movies? Was he in any games? I mean after all what raunchy questions could sprout from the mind of a fangirl that warrants censorship? Nobu-chan blames A-chan for the whole thing and I whole heartedly agree since only one as passionate about being a fangirl as Risa could have organized the Maity legion. Apologizing is a funny thing you want it to be sincere wherever possible, but sometimes its just easier than trying to fix it alone.

Otani was demolished by Risa’s response to his question. He did the worst possible thing in love and in war. Its not that he made a bad decision, but that he made no decision which is just as bad if not worse. Despite coming around in the end its was too late any ways and Maity has to comfort poor heart broken Risa. Strangely enough as much as I disliked Risa for being a cry baby for the duration of her heart break she has a 3 episode crying license as far as I am concerned.

Girl Power 4TW!

I don’t know what is more terrifying, fangirls or High School kids who are hot for teacher…

Risa spends minimal time mopping around for which I applaud her for. Even if the focus is on Cain-sama Maity and Risa’s new legion of fangirls, it beats having Risa in tears over A-chan. It is at least a more positive outlet, besides Risa is spreading the gospel on how to be a better fangirl and that cannot be a bad thing…as far as I can tell. Gotta love those head bands, much more fashionable than the red meat ball. Though the cheers could use a bit more work. A-chan however is cursed with having Maity as the new coach and he gets schooled. After being throughly trashed A-chan runs away, and Nobu-chan convinces Risa to talk to him. Sadly A-chan rejects her again. As much as Maity was baiting him there is something to be said for being polite in public. After all you don’t go screaming racial epithets every time a colored person ticks you off. A-chan needs to gain some witty remarks since innuendo and word play is a far better way to make snide remarks since you could feign ignorance when it come to the actual meaning.

A-chan just got pwned, again.

It was rather surprising that they changed the OP and ED for the series. Then again many series these days are rather short and hardly warrant such a change. At any rate Last we left off Risa was mauling Otani A-chan for stealing her first kissu. With that Risa’s tenuous grasp on sanity slipped and she slunk back into her room broken, humiliated, and despondent. Only one thing left to do now they say…

Good morning. That’s a lot of flowers you got there. I like flowers.

So Risa drowns her sorrow with renai games much to the horror of her family. She starts the new semester scaring the living daylights out of Nobu-chan and nearly makes A-chan wet his pants. It seems that they will be one happy group yet again. Risa, Nobu-chan, and Chiharu-chan go off leaving A-chan behind. Maity sensei ambushes Risa from behind remarking that her cute face should not be marred by a scowl. Apparently Maity sensei can really turn on the charm and most of the female student population seems to agree. Except Nobu-chan who seems to dread him. Risa however latches on tightly as Maity is the spitting image of her Cain from her renai games.

While Risa is in fangirl mode A-chan becomes horrified that Risa has indeed gone mad and has started creating imaginary foreign lovers. Nobu-chan reassures him that Risa is mere being a fangirl for some one who looks like Risa’s top pick in her latest renai game. So Maity introduces himself to the class as the new assistant English teacher to much fanfare and adoration. Risa immediately volunteers to be class rep and volunteers A-chan as well. After class Nobu-chan confronts Risa about giving up A-chan. Risa responds that Maity is just a save haven for her wounded shoujo heart after being beaten around by Hurricane A-chan. She laments that it would be simpler for her to simply love Maity, but such is not the case. Nobu-chan swears that she will never allow Risa to date such a disgusting man.

A-chan and Risa later go home, but in the middle of it A-chan gives Risa an Umibozu sport towel. Risa reluctantly accepts, but this is hardly going to make up for things. Back in class Maity is teaching while the female students are fawning over him. The guys on the other hand are insanely jealous of Maity, Nobu-chan is simply disgusted with the Maity revolution. Maity calls on A-chan to answer a question, but he is sound asleep. Nobu-chan tries to wake him to no avail so Maity simply whispers and blows into his ear. A-chan snaps up and screams, every other girl in class however attempt to go to sleep ion the hopes for similar treatment.

Risa is charged with creating the duty roster while A-chan slips away because he is team captain. Risa looks on from the outside and remembers why she liked A-chan in the first place. She gets cracking on the duty roster until A-chan recalls that he was leaning in to…pick a piece of rice out of Risa’s hair before blacking out. Risa becomes distraught lifts the chibi man off his feet and gives him a big old kissu. She then declares that nothing will change if she keeps chasing him like this and resolves to give up on A-chan. Risa then bolts from the classroom in tears.

Being a high school teacher is the best job in the world. Lots of girls going gaga and the boys are actually looking forward to calculus for once.

Impression: The new OP and ED were nice and it seems that there may even be a few more introductions for new characters. Well Maity sure is mighty to take over the school in such short order. I like Risa now since she is a fellow gamer, but am most disappointed that she still hasn’t moved on to the Wii.

A-chan is so cute. Wake up sleepy head. Did you enjoy last night?

A-chan continues to disappoint and string Risa along. Now that Maity the Mighty has come to town and Risa gave him a declaration of surrender for any future relationship A-chan needs to get off the electric fence. As a side note Risa was looking most darling when she went psycho. Her lifting off A-chan for a kiss was an epic maneuver if I say so myself, a great way to give a show of strength.I personally hope the the second half of the series can be more over the top funny now that nearly bare chested Maity has shown up hopefully that other crazy girl shows up and what I assume is another Umibozu fanboy. I wonder what is going to happen to Haruka since Seiko-chan seems to have found a boyfriend in the OP.

Impz has now taken off on his vacation and all communications have since then ceased he has failed to answer any hails. I can only assume that Thirteensugars has him locked up in some basement… At any rate I finally finished tweaking my computer with a new motherboard and a floppy/SD card reader combo along with a nice sweet 2 GB ram upgrade. Just in time for E3 no less. In other news it appears that Lovely Complex is slated for more than 14 eps, putting it in the 24 range I suppose. So more Hanshin kyojin, huzzah!

Much to my aggravation we are yet again treated to a rather lengthy recap of Risa beaning Otani with the honmei chocolates. While it was a funny scene I can’t help but feel that this is some sort of cost cutting measure. Still Otani bicthes about how there was a pinked shaped turd on his chocolates and still insists on berating Risa for Haruka’s bold opeartion. Risa walks off pissed and mopey lamenting that the only kiss that she can imagine looks heinously funny. They get into some argument that escalates into threats from one another of bringing the other to court. We all know of course the Risa will win any case against Otani, nobody ever convicts otome no one….

You don’t get honmei choco because you are a cheat Otani. Kissing Seiko so passionately like that…Oh I see you burn with passion just thinking about it.

Risa storms off to the mess hall galley cafeteria for a pow wow with her warchiefs, Seiko-chan and Nobu-chan. Nobu-chan devlivers a thunderclap in the form of a bady drawn sketch remarking that Otani could not eve reach Risa’s lips. Seiko-chan advocates a “take him by force approach” as that was what allowed Seiko-chan to kiss Otani int he first place. Risa gets despondent and quips that she doesn’t even want to kiss him. Seiko-chan then inquires about why she even wants to be his girlfriend is for holding hands, kissing, or getting hawt and heavy? Leaving herself wide open Nobu-chan bites back stating that as long as they can both go cheer for Umibozu that Risa can be happy.

The next day Otani gifts Risa with front row tickets to umibozu, and the both of them are happy and giddy. Until Otani fails to show up for school. Turns out Otani is sick, as in diseased, so Risa goes off on a quest to see him after getting a map to his house. Despite her nervous disposition she is welcomed by Otani’s family who promptly take her to his room. Seems that they think A-chan (Otani) has a girlfriend which he swiftly denies being the jerk that he is. So A-chan and Risa get some alone and after talking for a bit while peeling oranges. A-chan slowly leans in and Risa leans in and and and… Kissu. Risa Has her first kissu! A-chan is so overwhelmed that his face falls into the cake. Risa being the smart flustered girl that she is promptly leaves before things escalate.

A-chan let’s have dinner in your room. What the heck was that about? Hey you don’t think…Yeah he needs Risa, badly.

On the day of the concert Risa shows up sick and A-chan remarks how he had blacked out and wishes to know about the rest of the comings and goings that took place in his room. Risa is now furious that A-chan forgot about their special moment and smites him for is ignorance.

Impression: For committing such and unforgivable crime as forgetting their first kissu Otani is hereby stripped of his name. From hence forth he shall only have the name of A-chan. I like how Seiko-chan is helping out Risa her puppets explaining the birds and the bees to Risa was funny. Still it is true that Umibozu is the only way for Risa and A-chan to get along fine. However despite what small progress Risa has made on the A-chan front taking it by force is probably not going to happen any time soon. Next time they better at least hold hands and hug.

Ganbatte Risa! Your wish for some yaoi action shall be granted.

In the next episode Risa has a crush on Maity, and A-chan better get the hell out of her way. I assume that Risa’s latent yaoi fangirl is about to awaken as Maity has expressed interest in A-chan. Go Risa the fires of a otome’s passion for yaoi has no equal, may your dreams come true even if only in doujin-shi form.

Last time we ended on a fairly good note for Risa. Kanzaki was crushed utterly and without mercy, but while Otani has been scoring points he is still sitting upon the electric fence. A dangerous place to be for some one with a chibi-kokoro, especially when there is a male rival yet to show his hand…

Risa is busy messing up her stapling task and get all Hanshin Kyojin with Otani, much to my delight. However Otani wants chocolate for Valentines (or as I call it Singles Awareness Day) and Risa gets cold feet about giving honmei chocolate rather than obligatory chocolates. especailly after the failure of the last operation. Since Otani isn’t getting any this year… chocolates that is from any one else. Its up to Risa to save him from the Valentines munchies.

So like any maiden in love she takes up the task with gusto. While lamenting her lack of funds to buy expensive truffles she runs into Haruka and Seiko. Haruka it turns out is busy dating several different women as training for the day that he and Risa are together. She tells them her tragic tale of rejection and Seiko is 110% supportive of Risa still loving Otani in a very touching otome moment. Haruka is up in arms that Otani had the gall to reject Risa like that and points out that Seishiro is no otome.

So Otani wants to reject Risa’s Candies? Well now my pretty time to put you in drag, muwhahahahaha!

While Otani is gawking at Umibozu info Risa is voodooing him to make him fall for her. Not to leave this sorry situation be Haruka storms teh classroom and smite Otani on his Chibi head. He then decalres for all to hear that Otani is one screwed up punk for rejecting Rias and interrogates him on what he finds wrong with Risa. Desperate to diffuse the situation Risa smites Haruka and drags him to the halls.

Risa explains the situation to Haruka. However Haruka isn’t going to take this lying down. however because of Haruka’s gambit she now enjoys the complete support of the class. Otani is then branded as an idiot, and rightfully so for not accepting Risa’s affections. Otani reveals his apprehension is due to some idiot image of how stupid a kiss between them would look.

Damn Otani declined to duel me. How aggravating. Well now I’ll just have to poison that cowardly knave…

Risa puts much effort into making her chocolates for Otani to the point that Haruka gets none. She tells Haruka that she is altering the deal and to pray she alters it no further. Risa makes her gift box, but Otani has the gall to reject it. Risa confronts himn again and forces convinces Otani to take them without worry. The then share a moment worthy of kiyaa! from this cold hearted bastard.

However Haruka proves his mettle in the end by pulling an audacious switch and eating Risa’s chocolate leaving Otani eat his masterpiece. I applaud this last minute reversal.

Kissu! Kissu!

Impression: I loved seeing Haruka taking a more proactive stance against Otani for his idiot insistence on leaving Risa hanging. The chocolate switch was brilliant conceived from the mind of one who loved Risa in all her glory. Otani has some major self esteem issues if a ridiculous looking kiss is the only thing holding him back. Honestly kissing it self is awkward who cares who is on their tip toes when it occurs.

Poor Haruka he understands how great Risa is but in the end the unappreciative Otani is the one who Risa longs for. Still I commend his training methods involving several women, bravo Haruka. He’s just making up for the times when he was dependent on Risa protection. I fully understand his need to go on a bunch of bad dates at once to become a veteran of dating for the day that will never come, his date with Risa. Still for marshaling unanimous support for Risa he deserves a kissu from Risa even if its going to be a good bye one.

Next time its the long awaited first kissu!

With the store room debacle behind her Risa, Queen of the Amazons, moves towards her final battle against Chiharu’s evil twin, Kanzaki. Not all goes well as Kanzaki has stuck a dark deal with Otani’s rather gangsta looking pals. At stake is the fate of Otani’s chibi heart, will Kanzaki reclaim it only to cast it aside in 15 minutes or shall it tremble eternally in fear and a more rabu rabu Risa?

Risa it turns out has been playing renai games to drown her sorrow over her continued unrequited love for Otani. Such is her passion that her pink aura dominates the New Year prayers and encourages Nobu-chan and Chiharu-chan to give a wide berth. After they finish pulling each other’s faces during their prayer ceremonies they stay up all night…singing.

Loli in a bag ain’t nothing, dekka-onna in locker is deadly.

Nobu-chan is appalled by this turn of events and promotes a made scheme of using Risa humor to win Otani’s heart. Risa then does a 180 and turns up her seductive charm.Otani is freaked out by lovey dovey Risa and flees with his tail firmly tucked between his legs.

However things get worse as Kanzaki tries to meet up with Otani after school. After some skillful lying by Nobu-chan Kanzaki is forced to withdraw. Despite this minor success, the peanut gallery that is the rabble called Otani’s middle school pals is intent on mending the fences of the ex-lovers. Risa does her best to literally pull Otani away, but concedes defeat when the learn to play basketball gambit fails.

Kanzaki tries to turn on the charm but Otani fails to take the bait and goes off to comfort Risa instead. No sooner is our favorite pairing back together, they once again become the all Hanshin Kyo-jin we know and love.

The pwning of Kanzaki.

Impression: Now that Kanzaki has been thrown under a tank there is little in the way of opposition facing Risa. Unless of course Otani’s aversion to Risa was due to attraction to Seiko-chan. Kanzaki had a lot of nerve to try and reclaim Otani after casting him aside. I hope the little Chiharu clone is crushed utterly for her insolence. From the look of things Haruka may be up for a last stand for Risa chocolates, but how devastating his demise will be remains to be seen.

Poor Risa turning up the charm was a joy to behold she is such a piss poor seductress. It seems to me that playing too many renai games has certainly addled her mind. All this time I thought Risa was playing pokemon. Otani being the dullard that he is trembles before Risa’s lovely might as if Risa will eat him after escalating to anything more than a kiss. She probably would too since Risa doensn’t come off as one of those idiots that beds boys the first time all the time.

So Impz is feeling a bit sick and like some overly macho idiot he has refused medical treatment so he can spread his sickness far and wide in his glorious city state. Thus it falls upon me to take up Lovely Complex until he launches some sort of counter coup and takes this series back.

At any rate Risa is still trying her best to win chibi-Otani’s wee wittle heart. Otani is still sitting on the fence unsure of what to do around the tall hawt funny bombshell that is Risa. While this cluster fuck of a courtship continues Nobu-chan formulates her bare chest doctrine, a decent idea of being brutally forward wrapped up in a shameless statement . As time moves decidedly fast here it is yet again Christmas, and you know what that means Halo 3 baby Jesus’ birthday rabu rabu daytos and gift giving.

Risa gets drunk off what I assume is root beer since that makes me all bubbly and happy too. Nobu-chan pushes forth her grand scheme and the goes in to a fictitious spiel of how she met Nakao. Risa regrets rues and laments the fact that her love life is much more dramatic and a failure. In contrast to Chiharu and Nobu-chan both of which were blessed with a most boring, hence pleasant, relationship.

So the end result was a defeat for Otani in the All Hanshin Kyo-jin dodge ball finals. Not only did he challenge the champ, but she had a cart load of balls. As punishment Otani had to kissu his team mate.

Risa wants to do something special with Otani, but it ends up being all Hanshin Kyo-jin. Without Umibozu tickets it seems like a lost cause. However, Otani invites her to a Christmas party with his middle school basketball pals. Risa gets a bit mopey until Nobu-chan gives her a well deserved kick.

Knowing the Kanzaki is going to be there Risa gets motivated to crush Kanzaki and possess Otani. Again the peanut gallery writes off the possibility of them being a couple though Otani does mention that Risa is fun gal. After a bit of dodge ball using basketballs, we learn that Kanzaki and Otani cemented their relationship in one of the most hallowed places in anime. The gym store room.

Risa starts getting ideas and wonders what could have happened. Indeed I wondered what could have possibly transpired. Since Otani was allegedly always at a loss for words around Kanzaki; Risa dives deeper into depression as Otani is never shy around her. Cometh the moment cometh Nobu-chan who locks them both in, you guessed it, the gym store room.

Risa gives Otani her gift of gloves while he has nothing to offer in return, the nerve of that halfling. Nobu-chan opens the door to find…an all Hanshin Kyo-jin blowout. With the parting shot we see Kanzaki sitting alone on a bench like some lost puppy.

Risa’s love for Otani is like a truck, it rather run over Kanzaki than brake.

Impression : With the series drawing to a close I can’t help but feel that fourteen eps is far too short. Seiko and Haruka have barely made any appearance since their respective intro eps. While the series is not about them the fact that Kanzaki is really the only outside threat to Risa x Otani is a bit galling given that Haruka was supposed to dedicate himself to Risa as well. Granted that Hanshin Kyo-jin is funny I would like to have a bit of Seiko and Haruka havoc to go along with it.

Well I still wish to cheer Risa on during her slow steamrolling offensive to capture the chibi-heart of Otani. However since Kanazaki is coming back I wonder what kind of shit storm will come next because the next download is a bit slow.

Your perseverance has touched me, Risa!

Do not click more if you do not want to be spoiled on the thoughts of Episode 9 of Lovely Complex and my dangerous form of worshiping my goddess. I just want to put this out for all who reads this blog. If you are still not watching Lovely Complex, there are perhaps only two main reasons for it. One is that you hate comedy with romance, or either of the genres. Second is that you hate people who talk with a Kansai-ben. If not, I really do not know why you are not watching this.

In this episode, I really feel that the dynamics of the characters are really nice. It is very rarely in a show that I am actually liking all the characters, and wonder how the characters will experience certain incidents, even though the story plot is still somewhat clique. Nevertheless, I do admire Lovely Complex for adding the rejection stage, because it is very rare in an anime show (or any show) to have a romance built up even after the initial rejection.

That to me, is something special, and I really like it since it is the girl that is chasing the guy, breaking some normal stereotypes. The height joke is somewhat irrelevant to me after the first few episodes, and I somewhat feel that it can be stale at times as a joke. Nevertheless, I really like the interactions between Risa and Otani, especially when Otani is currently distressed over Risa even after he had rejected her. He must have felt how much of a jerk he is.

To be honest, Risa’s perseverance is perhaps nothing really great, but for someone so fragile mentally, Risa had really done very well to keep on trying. I mean, how many of us are willing to try again even after being rejected by a friend so shabbily. I really admired her courage to face up to the truth and pursue Otani more. Go, Risa, you have my support (and you can always have my shoulder, I am tall enough).

How dare you make my Risa cry, you freaking chibi little nothing, Atsushi. It’s a good thing that I cannot send all the Seikos in the world to rape the hell out of Atsushi, because I will do so. How dare you reject the advances of the oh-so-god so adorable Risa, with her cute little fits and her nice figure.

Who is the one who is always entertaining you when you are feeling down? Who is the one that can make you happy like no one in the world can? Risa is, and you dumped her without giving her a chance. That’s it, Atsushi, you are dead! On Lovely Complex Episode 9, I really like the emotions that are going through, even though they did throw in a bit of comedy for good measure. I honestly think that it is perhaps for the best interests of the two for Atsushi to break her heart currently, in order for them to have a proper future together.

Risa is still not ready for a relationship, considering how nervous she gets with Atsushi. It is way too surreal and unnatural, but I cannot forgive Atsushi for hurting my Risa. MY RISA!
