You made Mika cry. The cicadas are also crying. Can you hear it?

Watching Episode 7 makes me feel reminiscent on a series that I adore in the initial stages, namely “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni”. There are in fact signs that all these characters are in fact pseudo killer lolis rather than the innocent beings that we know of them. Psuedo is the word since both series have loli-looking characters that are in fact not loli at all.

Do you already sense the deathly similarities among the two series?

The blood is waiting for you soon…

Both series are similar in the fact that they often have shots of the water tap. Why? I have no clue because Manabi Straight happily spent 2+ minutes on a water tap, a slow moving baseball bat and people looking at each other. Still, both have a tap and with that, we hit the tip of the iceberg.

The similarities will get more haunting as we move on.

Remember the baseball scenes? Remember the baseball bat? You never know when it will appear.

The cicadas are here too in this series. They are out in force, awaiting the cries of the cicadas to drown out the pains of the victims.

Next, let us move to the characters. First up is Manabi. She looks to be always energetic but she suddenly suffers from Oyashiro’s curse and starts to blank out. The blanked out look is classic in the initial stages of the curse. Manabi will be the first victim.

Mei becomes Shion! Oh no!

It’s face distortion time! It’s time to fight as Mei attempts to “kill” Mutsuki!!!

Mei has the Oyashiro’s curse and assaults Mutsuki in a fury of blows.,Mutsuki tries to weaken Mei in order to cause Mei to receive the fated vaccine.

Wonderful right punch by a hypnotized Manabi. Who will win the battle of the killing fields? Sadly, no one told her that using a knife, a baseball bat or weapons of torture are more effective to hurt them. I guess Manabi Straight is a low end user of Higurashi’s methods. They are merely on the primitive level.

Mutsuki is badly outmatched by the two girls who are totally paranoid. What will she do to get out of the predicament?

Will Mutsuki become the first victim in this arc, the Manabiigoroshi-hen? Stay tuned to the next episode of Manabi Straight for the resolution of the cliffhanger.

I like to play with you too, Rika-chan!

I like to play with you too, Rika-chan! <333333333.

Ok, not that kind of game where you pierce holes right through my body. No thanks.

And not a hentai kind of game. I am no paedophile.

Never mind, i am not going to try explaining.

...Well, i like the ending. I do. It is perhaps a nice concluding arc to end off this series, with a rather well, good ending compared to most of the other arcs. I mean, seriously, considering the amount of blood and death that was spilled in the various arcs, this was the slightly more bloodless arc, with no one really turning psycho except the beautiful and extremely cute Rena. Her totally insane moves and cleaver attacks rock seriously, and we have a happy ending.

What's there not to like?

So for the brief summary of this episode, Rena traps the whole group of students, distracting the only teacher in the school. The police were contacted and arrived to the scene and was informed by Rena that the school will blow up at 7 pm as she had readied two attacks (an old school time bomb and pouring gasoline all around the area) at that time. Keichii eventually figured out where she planted the bomb, as well as getting the lighter away from Rena after some help from Satoko and Rika.

It seemed that the time bomb was at the rooftop of the school and with Rika trying to delay time for K1 and Satoko being the trap master to solve where the bomg was, K1 finally reached the rooftop. He eventually managed to stop the time bomb just before it hits zero seconds (remember, this is fiction, guys) and K1 saves the day…

For now.

Rena then came onto the rooftop, challenging K1 for a duel. As the fight progresses, it seems that Rena has regained a bit of her sanity as they talked while fighting. K1 wanted Rena to be his personal maid if he won the battle (wow, when you are trying to kill the hell out of your friend…) and Rena said she wanted K1 to do the same too of sorts except the maid part. If she said the maid part, i will go @_@;;;..Eventually, Rena won the battle but realized what she did as she did not kill K1 but instead went into his arms for comfort. She realized that somehow, she had stopped trusting her friends and regretted everything she had done, like hitting my cute and kawaii Mion on the head.

———————————————–

Well, if I have any qualms with it, it is the fact that I have to see my poor and abused Mion being abused once again in this. I mean, the last arc, we had Shion doing all that crap to her and eventually dump her down to die in a way that she did not even deserve at all. Even though I am glad that Shion had undressed Mion in such a way in the previous arc that her melons were about to spill out, it was still painful seeing my green-haired beauty suffering that much pain.

It’s painful as a fan of green-haired gals being abused right in front of my eyes.

However, I do like the slightly light-hearted approach to this arc. Yes, I actually used the word light-hearted for this show, because the violent and psycho parts were not overplayed in this arc. Also, the fact that this becomes a sort of a game (remember how Keichii fought with Rena in the first episode of this arc) meant that it becomes less serious.

In essence, the whole show went like fricking high for me during the first two arcs. It then lost some gas and failed to capture my attention before driving back with some style in the last arc. I think Rena is really one of the best characters, especially with the constant scratching due to the “maggots”. That was a great touch in my humble opinion.

A decent series, especially since it attempted to twist your mind with the last arc. I liked it and I will leave you with the glorious attack of Mion in this last episode. So long, Higurashi….

P/s It seems that there will be a special or OVA for the last two arcs. So wait for the “last mystery” to show itself.

Oh, the bad guys. Man, why are all bad guys so ugly? They should have a uber bishie, uber short and uber weak bad guy that is in fact a trap-san in disguise. Then it will be way more exciting. I mean, seriously, these bad guys are so generic bad guys that it is not funny.

So, we realise that everyone is in fact poisoned and that the poison came from the mist in the marsh. That is why the bad guys try to kill every single person that tries to get out as they might spread the disease to others. The virus also affects people by causing them to start going berserk, hence these bad guys will try to kill these people who are turning into devils, aka spirited away by Oyashiro-sama’s curse.

We then see how Rena discovered the fact about this and she trusted in Keichii as she told him about all this and that the bad guys were trying to catch her in order to get the creepy nurse’s notes.

However, that is not important compared to the following excerpt that I will provide you.

The Many Faces of Rena

WHAT ELSE CAN BE BETTER than the different faces of Rena! She is just about the most awesome character in Higurashi. I mean, a cute girl wearing a cute dress and holding a cleaver waiting to kill you is pretty erotic/deadly/cute if you ask me. Of course, that is under the assumption that I am not the “you” in the previous sentence.

However, I really think that Rena is the character in Higurashi that is pulling all the right strings here. She is intelligent but she is deep down psycho. The fact that you cannot tell whether she is good or bad makes it even more troubling. Also, unlike the other psycho in Higurashi, the melon-sized Shion, Rena has a lot of different faces.

These include the “I WANT TO TAKE YOU HOME” face, the common loli face distortion face, the thinking Rena face, the normal girly Rena face, the worried Rena face, the “OH YES, DIE, BIATCH” face and of course the winning face which is the “CAT EYE” face when she walks around the school with the broken glass (where’s that full scene!!!).

She is the only other character that has more than two weapons of destruction (namely the lead pipe and the cleaver) and also having various different uniforms. I mean, that is really cool and glad that she is in here. The characters here either are too boring (Keichii), too small (Satako), too psycho (Shion), too little showtime (Satoko) and Mion is well just cute.

Yes, I am biased toward green-haired female characters.

Anyway, the next week had the preview of Keichii killing Rena. I hope that is not the case (even though I spoiled myself reading Hinano’s blog). Anyway, cheers and we are reaching the end of this series. Leaving you with 4 more screenshots from the queen of Higurashi, Rena!

Rena rocks. She is the only reason other than Rika why I am still watching this.

You know, many people for some strange reason (I am looking at Houjou and Rina) do not understand that girls, when driven to a corner in this town, can be fricking dangerous. I mean seriously, Rena is the best psycho around. She has a freaking cleaver that can cut you into half, and she’s so fricking smart too. I mean, if i see Rena, i will treat her better and never be with her alone.

Of course, if it is somewhere else that is alone…Hmm, I don’t mind.

*STOP. THINKING. ABOUT. PERVERSE. THOUGHTS. IMPZIE.*

*I blame the pervie bleach rpg and Drm for this*

Tee hee. But according to this, I derive some important knowledge from the brief summary.

Episode summary

So what happened is that Rena already knew that Rina was trying to swindle the money of Rena’s father. So, she tried to avoid Rina as much as possible. Rina went over to Rena’s hiding place and they had an exchange of words. Both of them did not like each other. Since Rina knew that Rena had all the information about her doing the bad stuff to her dad, Rina tried to kill Rena.

Of course, the resilient Rena kicked her ass and killed her with an old pipe. To finish the “KILL 1, get 1 more killed free” bonus, she killed Houjou with a level 10 Rena-special Cleaver. Rena was trying to hide her evidence by chopping up the body and dumping it into her special hideout, the rubbish area. Of course, it did not work as the gang went over and realized that Rena killed the people.

They then decided to hide everything for her and assumed that the whole thing was non existent.

—————————–

Thoughts

I think Rena will be the one that will boost this arc. Her black dress/battle armor rocks big time, seriously. It is so cool to see her in such a havoc state. I wish they had more Rena earlier but it still works. I mean, Rena in black dress and using a cleaver to chop the hell out of Houjou just rocks my socks off.

Nuff said, next episode and a few more. I will say once again for the benefit of those who believes in keeping their lives.

1. Don’t wreck lives.

2. If you have to, do not do it to a guy in this town.

3. If you really have to swindle a guy in this town, do not choose one that has a kid.

4. If you really have to swindle a guy in this town with a kid, just choose one whose child is not a female.

Seriously, if you do not follow these suggestions, you are asking for trouble. Also, please do not do the following.

5. Don’t fight cute girls in a secluded area.

6. Don’t slap gals called Rena, because they will release maximum level combo, Higurashi Oyashiro-sama’s curse special.

7. Don’t ever come to this town.

Nuff said, next episode please.

Higurashi goes Naruto? Kage bunshin loli no jutsu! Rena is now three Rena, which means double the excitement, triple the action and triple the killing attacks. Go, Rena, go. Please go emotional suddenly and have the others fear your awesome face distortions!!!

Then it would be triple the fear as you go on those blue cat eyes…Scary.

This episode is once again the beginning of the new arc. Honestly, I found the ending of the answer arc pretty boring, as it displayed the answer so clearly until it gets well, a bit boring. I felt that this episode is more of fanservice than anything else, but the introduction of a new character so late in the series was pretty interesting. I must say that I am glad that I see Rika alive. Without her, Higurashi is almost not worth watching (of course mion/shion is the other draw).

The start of this arc was a fight scene of the lolis trying to rape each other in an incest-filled forfeit game. Ok, I am kidding since K1 is generally a harem character in which he shows completely no interest in any of the cute gals even though they are literally asking him to come close to them. First, the lovely Mion with green hair and giant melons was splashed with water by the evil K1, who had no knowledge of being nice as a gentleman.

The squirting was rockish, seeing Mion all wet. I bet that is the aim of K1, since he never bothered about Satoko (that had nothing to see) and Rena (who would probably prefer to stick a cleaver onto his head). I mean, if you are going to squint a girl out of all the lolis, which one would you choose?

Easy choice, right?

On the other hand, the try-to-be-moe-but-failed Satoko tried to trap Rena, the cat-eyes-loli. However, Rena outsmarted the smirk Satoko with some skills. Eventually, it was down to K1 and Rena, who “killed” each other in the water contest. I am just wondering if they were to already provide fanservice, might as well wet the clothes too? Meh. What happens is that Mion tried to say that the whole battle was a draw and they have yet another contest. Rena and K1, with their killer instinct in full throttle, slammed the other three, telling them for a forfeit.

What else, but the Angel Mort? Fanservice FOR THE WIN!!!

Rika wins in cuteness. Yes, win. No other comments needed. She wins.

We also have the presence of the pedophile doctor that has fetishes on a freaking 11 year old (I guess that is Satoko’s age) wearing a meido constume. Now, that is just so wrong, considering that I bet he does all the queer things when he gives examinations to the loli girls in Higurashi. Great, you have lolis that love to kill you in various ways, a hentai pedophile doctor that preys on cute little things and a freaking psychopath K1 that gets paranoid once he sees a loli. Superb.

Anyway, the rest of the plot involved Rena discovering that the woman that his father was with is in fact a hooligan that is out to trick her father’s money. We probably will see Rena in crazy mode and kill the woman or something. Yea. Something like that.

Next episode please and more Rika!

Hmm, since I had been watching Higurashi and started to think about harem and all. I know that my brain is currently fried worse than a fully cooked KFC breast meat and that is probably the reason why I think of this topic. What if you, a harem character that is as <del datetime="2006-08-20T15:43:44+00:00">stupid/idiotic/stuck </del> lucky as Keichii to be around the higurashi girls, which girl will be best to choose as a decent wife? We will go down the list happily of the teenage girls and which girl would be the best prospect as a future wife.

This list is in no order of preference. Honestly, it makes no difference because you will die anyway, but the hell, we are all dreamers, no?

Satoko, Rika, Shion, Mion and Rena will be covered~

1. Satoko

You are generally very safe to have her as your future wife. Other than the fact that she might vomit, turn all white when you pat her on the head, she is generally nice, cute and probably be rather pretty when she eventually grows up. She also knows how to cook, would be submissive once you can persuade her that she’s all cute. However, never try killing anything for her, she will turn all white-eyed and white-faced. It’s not generally not supported. Oh, and do dress her up a little when you bring her to escape. Do not leave her in just a freaking towel for anything. Girls need to keep warm.

She also has problems sometimes when it comes to violence, so do not make her panicky. If not, you might be shoved down some bridge for good measure that will mysteriously appear somehow. Even if you hold on to the bridge that is not realistically possible to be held on, she will cry and step on your fingers happily, while screaming for you to come back. A little queer, huh?

Rating: 7/10

2. Rika

She’s so cute!!!! She goes nya~ nya~ and pochi pochi pochi all the time that she would probably be a future wife. In fact, the fact (wow with the englirish) that she could predict the future (amidst the morbidness) meant that you can strike it rich if you could get her to tell you the next lotto results. Also, she is a good friend of Satoko, which meant that you could probably get 2 for the price of 1. Not too bad huh.

A good point to note too would be that she is in fact the daughter of the shrine. To my knowledge, it is always good to be at the side of the gods, hence having her as your wife meant that you will be luckier in your life, unless the god proved to be a certain thing called Oyashiro. Then you are in bad luck if you are blessed by the gods. That is why she’s worth 8/10 only.

Rating: 8/10

3. Mion

Mion has big melon pans. Mion is cute. Mion looks cute. Mion has a cute character. Mion has a gun that can protect you. Mion is the head of the Sonomazi family. Mion is strong enough to protect you from anyone. Should i say more about this future wife?

Ok, i will say more. She can look extremely good in all clothes and the fact that she is in fact a very cute little bunny outside her tomboyish mannerisms meant that you will be very proud to bring her around to meet your in-laws. In fact, if anything, she can also do a mean speech and she will be crazily devoted to you, just like her twin <del datetime="2006-08-20T15:43:44+00:00">psychopath and insane mad woman</del> sister.

Rating: 10/10

4. Shion

Everything that is the same as Mion except that she’s a freaking psychopath that can’t wait to kill you because her previous boyfriend <del datetime="2006-08-20T15:43:44+00:00">ditched her for some fetish pron with small breasts</del> was demoned away. Also, she has a tendency to lock people up for her S&M tendencies, in which some include whipping an old lady, hitting corpses and locking up cute big breasted other twin in a flimsy singlet. Not good wife material.

However, she does look hot and is really gullible. So if you can get her to be your wife, she will be your servant forever.

Rating: 6/10

5. Rena

That is according to whether you think that Rena is the rather psychotic Rena or the smart, sensible Rena. In my opinion, her abilities might be malleable, since she has a love to go to the dam in which to dig out strange things. She is cute looking but all the other Higurashi girls all look cute as well, so it really does not make a very big difference. She also carries a cleaver that might land on your head. Also, unless you are a very big fan of face distortions ( i know there are some people with fetishes like that out there), you will not find her very nice on the bed. Just to add, even if you are on the bed, she might happily inject a syringe filled with funny chemicals in you. Tough choice of wife material.

She will snap easily if you talk about Oyashiro, even if Oyashiro was the brand of the bento box set that you have just bought recently. So, once she snaps, you are in deep trouble, my friend. She’s too wild an animal to tame.

Rating: 5/10

Well, I have been watching Higurashi but it was due to the fact that it was ending soon that I did not intend to blog any episode summary for this series. However, after watching the first few minutes of the show, I felt obliged to at least give a bit of mention on it.

Hmmm, after watching this episode, i came to various conclusions.

1. Mion should wear more singlets next time.

2. Shion’s distortion faces were for the win.

3. Whipping a dead person does not make you happier.

4. Never ever have a identical twin that is a psychopath.

5. A taser is in fact, a very good weapon to use in order to hurt people.

6. Never have strange cells, unless you can keep big melon girls in there.

7. Don’t talk about funny/secretive things when there is a psychopath twin in your house.

8. Never ever try to rationalize with a psychopath because he/she will do anything to make sure you are wrong.

9. If you know you are going to die, at least give us more fanservice, Mion!

10. Twins for the win (what?)

On a more serious note, we can at least deduce one thing about the show. The mayor of the town was killed possibly by Shion as seen in previous arcs. Since Mion has been kept ever since the festival of the Watangashi, Shion was definitely the one out there impersonating Mion in school. In fact, she was trying to make Keichii the bait and we finally had an idea how this is leading to. The conversation in the school between Shion and Keichii clearly made more sense right now that we have this context in which Mion is locked in the cell.

Interesting stuff, I can’t wait to see how the story progresses. I will be interested to see how they are going to talk about Rika’s death as well as whether Rena & Keichii did visit them like in the 2nd arc. If so, it would be interesting. I really wonder what part Rena will play, since the emo-girl has not been around for quite a bit. I kinda miss her face distortions.

Ok, leaving you with the distorting faces of Mion and Shion!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni was an anime where many scenes in this series were pretty much disturbing me, since I always had this irrational fear on torture and the likes. The episode 17 where Shion’s nails were… (ok, i chickened out and fast forward during that part). So it got me thinking about Hinamizawa and the Oyashiro-sama curse.

I was thinking that Keichii or K1 (how anime fans have been calling him) was always dying in the series. His death during every single arc had been one of the common faces in this place. Even though <strike>he is a loser and I wish for him to die</strike> Keichii has hard luck, he could do well with some of my advice. Hence, i had compiled a list of ways in which to at least prevent his death so that he wont be the pathetic loser that goes psychopath/emo/dead at the end of every arc. It is not exhaustive and the likelihood of you dying even after all these preparations is practically close to zero. However, it is always good to prepare, no?

25 Possible plans to escape from the Oyashiro-sama curse

*Might have spoilers*

1. Do NOT pat any girls with green hair on the head. In fact, do not pet any girls with green hair because they will turn all nostalgic and suddenly feel like stabbing you right through the abdomen.

2. Never ask a girl to carry an axe or any tools of massive destruction to help you retreive things. Trust me, girls are very skilled in Higurashi with weapons and the likes. If they are a little psychotic, they might also cut you accidently while playing around.

3. If a creepy ojisan that said that he is a policeman comes to you, make an excuse to go to the toilet or something and RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Yes, like run so fast that you can break some 100 metre record.

4. That said, if a nurse talked to you, also run. You never know about <strike>psychopath syringe-wielding</strike> morbid nurses.

5. That said, if a old lady that said she is from the Sonomazi Clan, also run.
6. Try not to practice baseball. It is scientically proven that baseball bats can kill things but they tend to be messy and easily discovered. In fact, which idiot in his right mind would carry a baseball bat all the time and practice it in a school with no baseball balls? Dumb.

7. When someone asks you whether you know about Oyashiro’s curse, tell him or her you do and end the conversation.

8. If a girl with green-colored hair approaches you to talk, try to avoid green girls. Remember, a doppelganger likes green usually and it is good that you try to move away from such stuff. You never know whether the green girl is the real deal. She might be a trick.

9. Never go into cars with strangers. Did anyone tell you not to trust strangers, baka?

10. Try to camp yourself with gals that look cute, does “pachi pachi pachi” with an extremely cute face, does nya-nya so cutely, because lolis tend to be good to predict the future.

11. If there is an abused girl in the town, mind your damn business and not bother about it. Trust me, the girl is more capable to solve her own problems than your meddlesome attitude.

12. Do not take drugs and avoid syringes unless it is administered by cute red-haired gals. Not green-haired gals. NEVER. You remember that? Green and red makes a big difference. Of course, if a blue-haired gal does it to you, please accept it and give her a big hug.

13. Do not answer any doors at night. They tend to send needles, strange apparatus and they tend to give you strange stuff.

14. Lock your door for your personal room where your telephone is. In fact, make sure that the room is soundproof.

15. If you see anyone taking photographs around town, ask the dork to just leave the damn place if he does not want to die

16. Dont enter any shrine lockers. They tend to hold ancient tools of torture and it is disgusting.

17. If there is a green gal that looks like a psychopath and tells you that she has just killed a bunch of people, LEAVE THE DAMN PLACE IN A HURRY. Don’t wait and trust her and follow her around like a retarded puppy.

18. Temples are generally scary. Avoid them at all costs.

19. Try to find male friends in school rather than female friends. Females in this village are very aggressive and you generally will be safer.

20. Don’t join any after-school club activities.

21. When in doubt, find something better than a baseball bat to kill anything in your path. Do remember that digging holes were not the best way to hide something.

22. When someone tries to be your alibi, accept it. Do not be a nervous freak and go omfgwtfbbq on them.

23. Dont call girls on the phone and never meet them one-on-one <strike>so that you avoid stupid laughter that gives you a panic attack</strike>. Have a male friend with you at all times.

24. Make sure your parents never leave your house. Tell them that you have a panic attack if they leave. However, if they have to leave, ask them to tag you along for good measure.

25. Just don’t go to the damn village. Tell your parents that everyone suffers from rabies and you still want to be sane. <strike>Of course, you are technically the one that is suffering from it.</strike>

Cheers and good luck!
