Getting a boyfriend is tough, but for lovable lasses like Miya here reading this post could help her come up with a winning plan to make Lulu her HUNNI. Ah music to me ears.

Well I guess waiting for the professor to compile all the data from every land is now the norm so in the mean time I guess more posting time. So this post has been incubating on my hard drive for sometime ever since True Tears ended but it has been expanded quite a bit since then.

As a military man I simply adore how shoujo shows have one thing that most other genres lack, doctrine. While there is many a mecha pilot and shounen brat that is ready and eager to charge forth into the fray, this to me is at best some piss poor doctrine and a serious lack there of at worst. In any case the typical shoujo Heroine displays far more tactical and strategic acumen at achieving her objectives so here is a breakdown of a few that I have come across, this list is by no means comprehensive and I hope that a few of you have some proposals of your own. Like war for the shoujo heroine there is no substitute for victory in her love life and in her struggles all is fair, though not all is right. To form a coherent doctrine she has to break things down into strategy (over all vision of how to achieve her goals), operational art (amassing the resources she needs where and when she needs them), and tactics (what she does in every date/meeting). It is no simple task and while there are preferred doctrines proper execution and the will to win remain key to a decisive victory.

Blitzkrieg

Best feint ever…

The crème de la crème of love doctrines being the most commonly used with varying degrees of success. Within Blitzkrieg positional confrontations are to be avoided, with mobility, combined arms, flexibility, and snap decision making being the hallmarks of good modus operandi of successful practitioners. While tactical elegance is usually a given strategic planning is not, even with 100 successful tactical victories in dates, it can still be all undone if those victories are not used wisely. Advances may also be limited with regards to limitations in income which affect operational art. With regards to the target (i.e. the hapless boy the shoujo has set her sights on) an armored thrust along a narrow front violently executed will be part of her opening moves to penetrate the target’s defenses and garner the target’s immediate attention along with daze, fear, and confusion. While maintaining momentum and tactical initiative the shoujo will endeavor to bypass all strong points and effect a full encirclement on her target. Once this is achieved swift capitulation by her target will be forth coming as her man/woman will have no choice but to submit to her will. Hopefully by this stage her target will be over awed enough to the point that capitulation will be swift, final, and voluntary.

Noted Practitioners

Amu’s numerous Shugo Chara allow her to be flexible in offense and defense.

Hinamori Amu (Shugo Chara) – with her very own combined arms team of Ran (Panzer Grenadier), Miki (Heavy Panzer Abteilung), Su (Pioneer/Combat Engineer), and Eru (Artillery) her ability to punch through defensive lines is unparalleled with her subsequent domination over Ikuto, Tadase, Kukai, and Kairi. Her rapid progress on no less than four fronts is nothing short of amazing. Sadly her lack strategic vision as to who she wants to end up with (this blogger is of the opinion that Ikuto is the only choice) may hamper her ultimate success. Her repeated victories over Utau are nothing short of love-field judo that has left Utau beaten and almost broken.

The most loved of all losers in love.

Isurugi Noe (True Tears) – One of the most famous contributors to the doctrine, her plight bitterly demonstrated what a lack of strategic vision could do to an expert tactician. Unfortunately for Noe that while she was able to achieve in mere months where it took her rivals years was nothing short of amazing her ultimate objective was not secured quickly enough. Too late did Noe realize who it was that she loved and too late did she realize the efforts of her Nii-san Ally resulting in her defeat. Shinichiro was able to avoid a complete encirclement by Noe and affected a head long retreat to Hiromi’s formidable defensive works. Once there a long drawn out siege was deemed untenable and Noe moved on with her life blessing the life of a better, luckier, and worthier man. Shinichiro would never forget what could have been and Hiromi was forced to acknowledge Noe’s superiority in tactics.

Shock and Awe

Hime was shocked, but will hime be awed?

Much like the afore mentioned Blitzkrieg this doctrine also emphasizes combined arms, but with displays of overwhelming power, dominant environmental awareness, dominant maneuvers, and spectacular displays of force to paralyze the targeted boy’s/girl’s perception of his/her little world and destroy his/her will to resist her affections. She must seize control of the environment and paralyze or so overload her rivals’ and beloved’s perceptions and understanding of events that the beloved and any rivals would be incapable of resistance at the tactical and strategic levels. The failings of this doctrine with regards to maintaining such high levels of power meant that it is a strategy for the short term. Love wars of attrition should be avoided where ever possible and there are limitations to sustainability as it is a very resource (money and time) intensive method. The key to success is to achieve rapid dominance and make off with the objective as quickly as possible in 13 episodes or less. If the series is to last longer than 13 episodes victory is no longer guaranteed and use of surges might be necessitated to keep her in the fight.

Noted Practitioners

That’s the Shock and Awe spirit for you.

Sheryl Nome (Macorss Frontier) – while Sheryl’s initial objectives were at first unclear her ability to achieve rapid dominance over her Alto-hime was swift and nearly decisive. Only a last minute propaganda victory by Ranka prevented a quick conclusion to what will now be a drawn out slugfest. Despite Alto-hime’s initial misgivings and wariness Sheryl was able to use great displays of Sheryl power to overwhelm him and secure his friendship often leaving her beloved speechless and at a loss for words with but a kiss. Unfortunately for Sheryl her falling victim to Grace means that she will have to initiate a surge in order to secure Alto-hime’s undying affections. Her task is also complicated by the fact that her beloved is highly desired by everyone else on Frontier.

When I first saw this series I thought that this was just yuri-baiting, and how delightfully wrong I was.

Chikane Himemiya (Kannazuki no Miko) – The premier theorist and most successful practitioner of Shock and Awe, Chikane was able to delay her offensive until the last moments to achieve complete strategic and tactical surprise on both her rival Soma and her beloved Himeko. With her awesome displays of Chikane power Himeko was swiftly taken and Soma was sent packing in short order. Such was her mastery of the doctrine that her yuri-love trumped out a more traditional and expected relationship. While her campaign is fraught with controversy, Chikane demonstrated that for all her questionable actions, that there is no substitute for victory. Like a master she achived all her initial goals in 12 episodes rather than the allotted 13.

…and that would be the last mistake Katsura’s enemy would ever make.

Kotonoha Katsura (School Days) – the most heavy handed of the Shock and Awe theorists Katsura suffered much during her long campaign to win the head of Itou. Where her rivals all attempted to and succeeded in sleeping with her prize, Katsura triumphed over them all once she gained the ability and ruthlessness to use Katsura power in sharp and awesome displays of her dominance. Where her rivals all ended up sluts, riddled with STDs, and in one case dead, Katsura was forcible deflowered but remained innocent as her consent was not given and her assailant was not Itou. Nevertheless despite the costly battles once Katsura amassed the operational requirements, her vengeance and victory were decisive and final. Sekai and her unborn bastard were left dead, and her other rivals soon all succumbed to all manner of diseases forced into perpetually single as no man or woman would take them for lovers. Katsura won the head of the bastard Itou and sailed off to distant lands with all of her power and wealth. It is said that she made a drinking goblet out of Itou’s skull, but as to her true fate, that has faded into legend.

People’s War

This victory belongs to Ranka and all who supported her.

Often the preferred doctrine of shoujo who are born or possess more humble, though not communist, means, People’s War favors infiltration tactics by a shoujo with more limited resources, and relies on effective local support to achieve her aims. Hallmarks of this doctrine include:

1: A short artillery bombardment to start any offensive action, featuring heavy shells mixed with numerous caterpillar projectiles, which would concentrate on neutralizing the target’s and rivals’ front lines, rather than on destroying them by itself.

2: Under a creeping barrage, shock trooper shoujo would move forward and infiltrate the boy’s/girl’s defenses at previously identified weak points. She would avoid combat whenever possible and attempt to destroy or capture the target’s headquarters and artillery strong points.

3: After the shock trooper shoujo and her local support had done their job, units heavily equipped with cake and chocolate would make heavy attacks along narrow fronts against any of her beloved’s strong points the shock trooper shoujo missed. When the artillery and locals were in place, she could direct the fire wherever it was needed to accelerate the breakthrough.

4: In the last stage of the assault, she and her local allies would mop up any remaining resistance.

It is a costly doctrine to employ and often entails an emotional toll that is at times too awful to contemplate, however if a shoujo sees things through to the end her target and her rivals may be bleed white to the point that she is the one with the last 1000 valentine chocolates. It is a more attrition oriented doctrine that rewards patience and tenacity in face of daunting odds.

Noted Practitioners

Ranka during the Birthday Offensive.

Ranka Lee (Macross Frontier) – despite Sheryl’s early and dramatic successes, effective local support enabled Ranka to stay in the fight to achieve her grandiose public relations victory securing for Ranka the attentions of Alto-hime, where her initial overtures often fell flat. Stealth was her favored means of achieving her goals and she achieved great success in her first film by getting a kiss from her hime. Ranka continues to draw upon strong local support, but currently lacks the means to consolidate her gains due to the lack of comparative Ranka power in comparison to Sheryl. With Sheryl now on the defensive it remains to be seen if Ranka can maintain her recent gains.

A masterfully done feigned sleep by Aihara.

Aihara Kotoko (Itazura na Kiss) – the most noted advocate of People’s War whose eventual victory is all but assured. Despite lacking overwhelming Kotoko power Aihara enjoys unparalleled local support from her future mother in law, and her allies. While her beloved Naoki remains defiant every observer has noted that his ability to mount continued resistance is fading fast. We are in effect seeing the last throes of the Naoki resistance in a few months time he will take Aihara’s name and wear a nurse outfit. Kotoko’s most determined rival is a petty princess who while exceeding Kotoko’s intelligence is nonetheless losing to the “stupid girl.” Nevertheless with ultimate victory and Naoki’s unconditional surrender a good many weeks away Kotoko will have to endure much hardship to be happy, but she will be happy in the end. Episode 14 just aired Kotoko has won a hard earned victory, the War of Naoki’s Ring is now officially over with Naoki’s unconditional surrender to Kotoko. The terms of Reiko’s surrender were notably Carthaginian.

Once again Risa receives aid from an unexpected source…

Risa Koizumi (Lovely Complex) – one of the most famous, but at least the tallest contributors to the theory, Risa’s campaign was a long and hard fought one. Many were the times in which thing looked bad, but with decisive local support she fended off her rivals and would be suitors to win her prize. Her collective title of Hanshin Kyojin with her beloved chibi is a testament to her arduous campaign where her tenacious nature proved that love knows no height. Despite the hard fought nature of her offensive, her terms were rather generous to the vanquished and her beloved. May she be as happy as she is tall.

Methodical Battle

Hiromi works out in her fortress of doom during the War of Shinichiro’s Picture Book.

The most time intensive doctrine available and preferred method of childhood friend types, Methodical Battle is the least flexible of all doctrines. Entrenchment and establishing of extensive defense in depth are required for successful implementation. The goal is to establish such an intricate defense that no rival can hope to assail the methodical bishoujo in her fortress of doom. Fatal errors include the possibility that her defense may be flanked and the chance that an airborne coup de main can dig her out of her fortifications in short order. Thus a defense be lavishly provided for with fortified rooms within or near a target’s house and a deep system of block houses and forts to delay her rivals as long as possible. The ultimate weapon however remains childhood memories and preferably a yubikiri and first kiss. With these a methodical bishoujo cannot lose because she has already been chosen from the outset. Timing is critical however and while her defensive lines are formidable she must keep her beloved within the deepest layers of her defense and hope that her center of gravity is never struck. If the lynchpin of her defenses (i.e. childhood memories) is compromised her defensive line might become irreversibly compromised.

Noted Practitioners

How I wish Shinichiro took her up on that.

Hiromi Yuasa (True Tears) – The most controversial advocate of Methodical Battle, Hiromi was able to camp out in her beloved’s home for many moons allowing her to construct an elaborate defense that Shinichiro retreated to in the face of the Noe Blitzkrieg. While she was almost fatally flanked and destroyed her masterful appeals for Noe’s pity were sufficient to delay Noe long enough to prevent a complete encirclement of the objective. While the landmines will require years to clear, Hiromi won a costly victory without having decisively vanquished the memories and deeds of Noe Isurugi. Long will Shin remember Noe, and long will Hiromi feel the effects of her very close defeat at Noe’s hands. At least she has her man and the fact remains that there is no substitute for victory.

It appears that my Academic Winter Offensive of 2008 is meeting some stubborn resistance from professor busy work and doctor useless online portions. Nevertheless since Feldwebel Amu is going to be occupied with the minutiae of sentry and patrol duty (aka fillers) until episode 19 my reports on her progress will be limited to only significant triumphs that include either belittling Tadase, besieging Ikuto, and smashing Utau’s pathetic attempts at securing Ikuto. Though in the odd chance that mien good Feldwebel eliminates that insolent teacher I will sing her praises on such a momentous achievement. That being said this episode did fulfill the laying siege to Ikuto and crushing Utau conditions…

I am quite surprised that Stripey has yet to sing Utau’s praises for her little music video and ho hum concert. Not that Utau is a terrible singer of course but a young otome ought not to rush in head long to woman hood or a singing career that would leave her with a red neck ex-hubby, a shaven head, and a cruel world just watching and waiting for her demise while placing bets in the hopes of getting a PS3. While I was most displeased with Ikuto’s retreat from his true feelings on Chriustmas eve, he at least he left Utau out in the cold. I hope Kampfgruppen Hinamori will soon eliminate that lousy teacher. I swear that no sane parent would feel “at ease” with such an incompetent hack around their sons and daughters. Still Yaya and Nadeshiko have no taste in music.

All he want is you, will you be his bride
Take him by the hand and stand by his side
All Ikuto wants is you, will you stay with him?
Hold him in your arms and sway him like the sea.

Well I guess the his refusal in giving violin accompaniment was something you still begrudge…duly noted.

Cool? Nien, though “King” Kiseki is most flammable mien good truppen.

I do admit that Amu-chan’s concert fatigues were an upgrade over that most unusual thing she wore in the manga. Good to see Amu-chan using the magic of her Charas in a most creative fashion, and hopefully Miki’s initial design will see some use in the not too distant future. Like a good stosstrupp Amu-chan was able to infiltrate to the enemy’s rear although she has much to learn about getting within hearing distance. Such was her stealth that she remained large unnoticed barring a lone confused sentry, whom she easily deceived, and Ikuto whose heart can sense when she is near. No doubt Utau is feels pressured by Hinamori’s superiority; after all Amu-chan boasts a 3 to 2 advantage and her Guardian Charas all get along famously with Yoru. Besides it is inevitable that both Ikuto and Amu will soon learn the whole truth about the relation between his key and her lock.

And she’s oh, so bad,
And she’s oh, so raspy,
And she’s oh, so famished,
In her body and her mind.
She’s a much disrespected loli about town,
Doing the worst things so unintelligently.

I am not too sure why EASTER refers to Ikuto and Utau as butterflies; heck they are not nearly as formidable as SD2 Butterfly Bombs. I guess the other Guardian Charas are good for something, the ad-hoc infiltration team literally brought down the roof over Utau’s head, such a shame that the hurricane barrage missed. Even Ikuto’s combat form is but a pale reflection of the power that Amu-chan wields. Such is the good Feldwebel’s martial prowess and peerless reputation that the X-eggs all cower and flee before her might. Amu-chan’s resolve to fight must have shaken Ikuto to the core despite his lack of expression; I suspect that the sting of Amu’s rejection left him shocked and awed. High Command is most impressed by her spirit and tenacity; truly she has not forgotten that she has a grateful Fatherland and a glorious struggle. Honor and blood for the Humpty Lock, cool and spice for the Humpty Key!

And she’s oh, so cool,
And she’s oh, so spicy,
And she’s oh, so healthy,
In her spirit and her mind.
She’s a well respected otome about town,
Doing the best things so meticulously.

I share your sentiment on tests, they do indeed suck.

So I just killed off two essays from my to do list, but bloody work seems to get in the way more than usual. Finals are coming and soon there will even less time than before. Ah well I was able to catch up with Shugo Chara to evaluate Feldwebel Amu’s progress on the Ikuto front. Progress is steady and Ikuto is slowly being worn down. Utau shows up belatedly and infrequently, and thus she is of little consequence to out brave Feldwebel. In fact such is her talent that she is not half bad at ballet.

In my younger years I often blew my nose and farted in the general direction of ballet dancers. Then I realized how much strength you need to actually do it, so even if it is still alien to me I approve of Amu-chan learning ballet. That flexibility will come in handy for infiltrating the corporate building Ikuto calls home. Much strength will be needed to knock out Ikuto and whisk him away out of that fortress. As such ballet will greatly aid Feldwebel Amu in executing infiltration tactics like a good Stosstrupp. She will need all her skill and cunning to kill that lousy teacher of hers. The man annoys me with his mere presence. I hope that Amu-chan figures out who he really is as shoves a grenade up his ass.

Punishing of subordinates is an art mein Good Feldwebel. Try not to leave them permanently damaged.

Yes, you are the main heroine. You are elite and this show is all the better for it. Under no circumstance should you ever follow the Yaya way.

Still even if that worthless hack of teacher’s demise is a bit ways away, Amu-chan’s concern for Maika was touching. However I did find the whole adults have dreams too speech a bit misleading. It’s not that adults stop dreaming or give up on dreams, but rather cold hard reality forces us to dream smaller. So what if Ms. Orie lost her prima status like luckless grunt I am sure she got her Purple Heart equivalent. Besides she still has a car and can put her daughter through ballet school, not bad I say.

Feldwebel Amu can now use her Amulet Spade aspect for volk and fatherland.

Most inspiring, at this rate you’ll make hauptmann in no time at all.

Thank goodness Amu-chan is the main heroine in this series had it been Yaya I would have tossed it way like a live grenade. Amulet Spade is preferable to giant rattle Yaya. Still Amu-chan needs to name her brush to acknowledge it as a instrument of her will, I suggest Scharnhorst. Blue really is her color though. Good to know that Ikuto owes Feldwebel Amu a great debt of gratitude for completing a better clean up operation than he could ever hope to accomplish.

Good to see that conquerors run in the family. We salute Ami on her path towards being cool and spicy.

Most excellent. Close combat is a vital part of your stosstrupp training, the next test is to smack Utau with a entrenching tool.

Ami’s adventure with the charas was a interesting diversion, though I would not like to see it again. Amu-chan is a good onee-san to Ami. Good to know that cunning and intelligence run in the family. Mama and Papa dumped off baby sitting duties to our good Feldwebel and Ami is a master of extortion and coercion. While Amu-chan thinks that she is merely putting on a good sister facade, I feel compelled to correct her error, for it is not a facade it is duty! Duty is a trait that Utau sorely lacks and thus Utau is doomed to failure. The bearer of the one key and the sentinel of the one lock are fated to meet. Sparks will fly and a kissu will be had, so it is written and so shall it be. Utau fights for a lost cause and bitter shall be her tears of anguish. I hope that Miki’s comment on Kiseki is just the flutter of a heart bearing a crush. Hopefully Ami-chan’s last comment was genuine, for all female aspirants to greatness ought to be cool and spicy.

Target acquired, gun elevation 25 degrees. Fire for effect, fire for effect…

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Despite Watarai Misaki being the focus of a filler episode, I do not hold a grudge against her. Rather I supported her efforts to peel off Tadase under a cooperative front if only to ensure that Amu-chan’s focus is solely on defeating Utau and claiming what is rightfully hers. Besides it was an excellent test of Feldwebel Amu’s close combat prowess and every Feldwebel needs a good battle buddy. Not only does Watarai provide some decent enough intel, but she reminds Amu-chan of her most cruel rejection by Tadase. Sadly I suspect Watarai has made a critical error and is walking into a trap by making Fujisaki her main enemy, though confirmation pending until episode 9. It was most heartening to see Watarai and Amu-chan get along so well. Indeed both looked most dignified when smashing through the Yamabuki Line. Waratia’s selective hearing and rapid target acquisition are most impressive as is her perpetual genkiness. My only complain is that Watarai failed to snatch Tadase and pave the way for Amu x Ikuto. Nevertheless it is good to see that Watari likes Amu-chan the most, indeed the yuri compels her.

Hey you caught the bouquet, you know what this means…and it better not be Tadase.

Yes! The Yuri compels you! High Command looks forward to collaboration with Feldwebel Amu for the duration of her campaigns.

Hopefully they carry out what is written in the next episode, if not may the yuri compel Fujisaki.

Mein Feldwebel good to see that your Hima-sense is tingling with excitement.

Normally I would decry this filler episode as it fails to introduce any new characters, however since Amu-chan invaded the pitch all will be forgiven. Besides hopefully from here on out Ran is going to have to lose her first among equals role and submit to a more equitable triumvirate.

Perhaps I am going crazy, but the OP has grown on me. I don’t care much for that incompetent teacher desipit his giving Feldwebel Amu her call sign. Himamori-san indeed, I wish I had more free time. I hope she enjoys every minute of it. I loved her eye-twitch it will be most useful to bending Ikuto to her will.

The enemy has been suppressed, begin your advance immediately. Schnell. Schnell!

However as much as my esteem for Amu-chan grows I still loathe Kuukai for wasting my time with his soccer/football team. I wished that it leaned more towards the Mario Strikers kind of game, mega strikes and all. I would have been most pleased had Amu-chan gone big and step on Kuukai like the bug that he is. Still for crushing the opposing team utterly and without mercy Amu-chan has earned an Iron Cross 2nd Class. The lamentations of Kuukai’s fanclub was music to my ears. Though I swear that Kuukai deliberately hit the ground to look you know where for you know what…the bloody pervert.

Thus did Feldwebel Amu gloriously crush ever club in Japan. It is for the sake of her own honor that she spared their lives.

Fujisaki-san was praise worthy for her Snake like ability to approach Amu-chan undetected. Hopefully Feldwebel Amu will have rectified this by the time she makes hauptmann. Yankee Fujisaki is also a glorious paragon of womanly scorn. While a good feldwebel is not easily frightened, I will concede that the Japanese Oprah is most terrifying. Yamada needed a good punch, so what if he is not the best. That’s when you know who is worthy of your devoted service. Still for bombarding Tadase with explosives all is forgiven.

It was also most reassuring to see that Amulet Heart can fight almost like a Gundam weaving about flak and materializing weapons seemingly out of now where. While I am no fan of pom poms I approve of the interim weapon system in the form of the Pom Poms of Power. Though I do hope for a weapon upgrade somewhere down the line. Lock on hasn’t worn out its welcome yet, but I hope it stays that way.

Yes, I will consider declaring Su a Hero of the Soviet union, but not yet…

Glad to see that Su is good for more than adding `desu to phrases. The carmel gambit was a masterful deception using what limited resources were at hand. Su is alright her strategy was nice~desu. It also appears that Amu-chan is growing up, her support for male friendship is but one step into the world of yaoi. In due course the otaku in her will burst forth and conquer Ikuto, who was unfortunately absent.

You say that now, but by the time you make hauptmann you will know precisely what this “friendship” was comrade fangirl Amu-chan.

I hear that the next episode should follow the manga more closely, though I am mostly interested in Miki’s first test of mettle. Ballet is okay, but engrish is better. At least it won’t bore me as much as Kuukai’s soccer match.

My thoughts exactly mein Feldwebe tell that Imperialist bastard what you think. Kampfgruppen Crusader supports any and all of your offensive operations.

So while waiting to see comrade Darkmirage’s vaunted workmanship for Gundam 00 I decided to check out Shugo Chara. I confess that I have taken a liking to Amu-chan. Hopefully this will be subbed with some regularity since the loli-con over tones that brought Moetan to a grinding halt are absent. Still I have high hopes and expectations for Feldwebel Amu failure will not be tolerated even if she is in the fifth grade…

I am very amused with the “cool and spicy” pigeon hole Amu-chan is in . However I am not so sure I want to see a kawaii Amu-chan in pink frilly garb. No I like her the way she is now, in fact I stood in awe as she told the “Prince” to bugger off. Her attitude about joining this Guardian Council thing was correct. That cape was atrocious they need to make it German field gray, and make jack boots mandatory. Still to have such a monstrous shadow about oneself is most admirable. If nothing else the rabble is scattered to the four winds by mere mention of her name. Even if she does get a bit emo and angsty at times Amu-chan does have a saving grace in over exaggerated SD. Also thank Haurhi-sama that she looks like a fifth grade kid albeit with an impeccable fashion sense. Had Amu-chan had a back breaking set of jubilees like some sort of genetic freak I would have already called it quits.

Spoken like a true king.

Even if Amu-chan wants to be a more girly person her charas are neither quiets or very lady like. Each one of them seems to be hyper active and over zealous. I wish Ran would wear something more dignified, since that skirt is way to short and the poms poms extraneous and useless. Then again I was never a fan of cheerleaders male or female for that matter. Haven’t seen or heard much from Su yet so I will refrain from pronouncing judgment even if my first impression is that Su is a bit on the stupid side. Miki is be best and I find her fashion sense to be perfect it also helps that she’s the blue one. Miki is also gloriously snarky. Still I hope that she does not follow the tenets of Socialist Realism. Even if they are a bit annoying at times I can never really hate the, they are just too cute. Making Amu-chan dance during transformation is very nice bonus though, its just so silly that Amu-chan would probably die if she ever saw it for herself. I love her transutable hair pin, bonus points if it ever changes to an Iron Cross.

What an adorable fire team.

Speaking of her transformation I approve of final attack and super sentai-esque hand motions. Though I am disappointed in the absence of transforming with either Su or Miki, not that Ran’s is atrocious or anything, but a bit of variation would be nice. I really don’t care if this ends up being a sort of enemy of the week deal as the Feldwebel Amu has earned my good graces. Besides I was most giddy when they used English as a weapon. I found the use of decent sentence structure to be impressive; the incorporation of a moderate overly wrought accent was most impressive. Cultural Imperialism at its finest, besides once Yuki arrives upon the blessed shores of America she will have her right to bear more lethal weapons. Also I hate licorice.

Most impressive Feldwebel Amu I see you are well versed in Mikuru tactics. The heart of Ikuto will soon be yours.

Amu-chan’s family is worthy of a hoot. Her dad is probably a certified loli-con. Best of all they buy into Amu-chan’s cool and spicy mystique, it is a wonder the poor girl turned out as sane as she is. Not sure if I should be creeped out that the dad was overjoyed to take a bath with Ami. I know that bathing is something special in Japan, but the dad just oozes loli-con. I like how Amu-chan already has a shouta fan. I hope the boy achives his dream of being Bill Gates and woo Amu-chan in the end. Though since this is most certainly mahou shoujo, money seldom if ever beats out love.

Speaking of love I admit that I was most disdainful of Prince Tadase. First he smacked down Amu-chan after her confession (albeit the confession was Ran induced). Secondly he seemed just too perfect and was stealing thunder from Amu-chan. My opinion of Tadase grew immensely when it was revealed that he wanted to take over the world. No goodie goodie cause here it is all just for the sake of <strike>Prince</strike> King Tadase ambitions. Even if Ikuto does not realize it yet, Amu-chan is going to demolish his feigned disinterest. I am willing to bet that by the end Ikuto will be broken and groveling before Amu-chan just to bask in her cool and spicy glory. The whole balcony scene made me question how kiddie this show is supposed to be. Nevertheless as much pure win and awesome as it was for Ikuto to play with Amu-chan’s ear I demand that he keep it civil and limited to verbal jabs and a possible kissu. She is in the fifth grade for bloody sake and I am sure that none of these kids has hit puberty. Besides Tadase leering at Amulet Heart was somewhat disturbing I hope his eyes did not wander far below her face while watching her fly.

Well I guess your wish for pink and frilly attire was granted by High Command. I approve of the hat and hair, combat effectiveness is over 9000.

Fujisaki was most impressive when going into psycho mode with Naginata. Kukai and Yaya are kind of out there, along with that loli-con stalker that is what I assume to be the seemingly incompetent teacher.

As for Amu-chan’s primary objectives, they are rather trite. Saving emo kids is okay though I would have preferred taking over of the world as envisioned by King Tadase. Still it is a decent enough responsibility for a fifth grade otome. Still I want to see Amu-chan earn the title of Hauptmann. Remember mein Feldwebel being cool and spicy is not dishonest, its being professional. Oh and about that egg that resides in all of us, mine was crushed and eaten as an omelet by my militarist self.

I see that the Amu-chan Beam is working perfectly an enemy squad just died from a kawaii overload.
