Urin is REALLY loli…

After Urin makes a dark pact with Sedna Marin becomes distraught and starts blaming Kanon for what happened as it was that accursed ring that served as the link. They part ways as Warin explains to Kanon how Marin and Urin were non-blood related siblings and how Sea People have different concepts of family. Marin starts thinking about the good old days when Marin and Warin were loli and Urin was super loli. Maddened with regret Marin effects an ill advised rescue attempt only needing rescue herself which Warin kindly granted. In the end Marin admits that she doesn’t hate Kanon and that she needs her help.

Once again it will fall upon two maidens in love to save the world…

After the lull in subs I have had a bit of trouble trying to get back into Umi Monogatari. I guess at this point that the first ep proved a lot more damaging to potential viewership but it is still chugging along with delicious yuri and some decent combat here and there. So it seems that Urin has fallen to the dark side as her yuri love for Marin seems to be at a dead end. I like how it was Marin that feared the darkness and eventually succumbed during the eclipse, given how Kanon was already evil she was impervious to suggestion. As Urin already proved vulnerable it made sense that Marin would not be immune to Sedna’s Jedi mind tricks. Since light was at its weakest during the eclipse and it was total darkness Marin’s powers seem to be solar powered and can work at night as the moon shines because of the sun.

Go right ahead ladies…

While it seems that Umi Monogatari has been consigned to the dust bin by many I still find the yurilicious subtext to be very enjoyable. Even if it is slow, it does lend itself wonderfully as an alternate universe of Canaan where Canaan (born here as Kanon) was born to a boring life on a beautiful beach. One need look no further than that odd glove Kanon wears in her regular clothes to see that she shares the same fashion sense as her alternate universe self. I am sure if we gave Urin an airsoft pistol and a knife she would be the spitting image of Liang Qi, but I digress. This time it was all about Kanon’s childhood as the best grunt of her generation, and she certainly was adorable in her loli years with twin tails. Even if her dolt of an ex-boyfriend was useless, Suzuki seems to like her a lot and see past her dark aura. Marin really loves her and always makes a point to hug and reassure Kanon and her self esteem issues. The battle itself was lovely for one reason and one reason only…Kanon stepped up and carried off Marin for a change. Otherwise the POWER of YURI prevails once again as all Marin needed to do was hug the two offenders. Also of note was Kanon’s Mom who delightfully made her intention of making the most of the Turtle’s death, very clear… Also watching Urin cry made me DAWWWWW. Read more

I guess I can thank Uncle Sam for making all my traveling arrangements for me, though I wish the crabby old man would have given me a better flight than one at 0600 on a Sunday. Ah well as such I have much ground to cover but not a lot of time to do it. Well here goes a quick recon report on Aoi Hana – 01, Mazinger Z – 13, Sora no Manimani – 01, and Umi Monogatari – 02.

As a sailor I cannot help but listen to sea stories, and given that this sea story is by a big shot director I will give it a chance even if the habits of Marin and Urin are strange. So yeah they are woefully under dressed and certainly being in the frigid ocean they might want to dress a bit more warmly, though I suppose that this was unavoidable given that the origins were pachinko machines. At least the rest of the sky dwellers took notice about the strange water people. Though as it was a beach is suppose that it wasn’t too far out of the realm of possibility, certainly Marin looks enough like a gaijin so that the locals wouldn’t give her crap to her face at least as they prefer to snivel behind people’s backs, Given the OP I doubt that Marin and Urin will start dressing in a more modest fashion, though certainly if they were to do a better infiltration they will have to alter their dress code. Still I can overlook such quirks of their water people society as after all every culture has their disagreeable aspects and at least under dressing is as mild as you can get.
