1. CEASEFIRE WAS FOLLOWED BY CONTINUED NEGOTIATIONS WHERE KURUMI ADMITTED DEFEAT TO SAWAKO AND ALLIED FORCES. OUTSIDE OF FORMAL PEACE TREATY RATIFICATION, KURUMI APPROACHED KAZEHAYA, WHO FIRMLY REJECTED HER LAST DITCH ATTEMPT ON HIM. AS A CONCESSION, HE DID AGREE TO HER DEMAND TO CALL HER UME ONCE.

2. INTELLIGENCE HAS INTERCEPTED SEVERAL MIXED SIGNALS FROM KURUMI HIGH COMMAND, ON ONE HAND ADHERING TO THE TERMS OF THE PEACE TREATY, ON THE OTHER POSTURING AS IF SHE HAS NOT BEEN DEFEATED. THIS COULD INDICATE AN INTERNAL (TO THE BRAIN) POWER STRUGGLE, OR PERHAPS SIMPLY POSTURING FOR THE SAKE OF PRIDE WHILE THE WOUNDS OF HER RECENT DEFEAT ARE HEALING. THE WAR MAY BE OVER, BUT WE MUST REMAIN VIGILANTE UNTIL THE SITUATION STABILIZES. THE PROSPECT OF A FANATICAL ELEMENT SEIZING CONTROL AND RENEWING AGGRESSION CAN NOT YET BE RULED OUT.

The war is over! Kurumi has admitted to Sawako openly that Kazehaya does not like her, and that she has no chance against Sawako. Furthermore we have a thorough rejection of Kurumi by Kazehaya, as well as the addition of his statement of love for Sawako. And the finishing move is made, the definitive ‘thank you’ reply to Kurumi’s confession, the words that signal defeat to all who hear them. However Sawako is most merciful, and offers Kurumi the hand of friendship and continues her decision not to let Kazehaya know of the extent of her foe’s transgressions. Kurumi tries to throw a pity party and talk about how others have used her due to her popularity, while conveniently never mentioning how she used others to destroy True Love and Friendship as far back as middle school. I can have no sympathy for one who gets burned by the very fire that she starts! In the end, all she got from Kazehaya was his acknowledgement that the rumors of her and Pin are false, and for him to call her Ume once, which is more than she deserved.

Day two of the sports festival ends badly on the sports front, but this is of minor consequence given the great victory for True Love and Friendship. Kurumi tries to hide her shame and embarassment behind a pair of sunglasses, but the goggles do nothing. Seemingly oscillating between admitting her loss and wanting to menace and threated Sawako, Kurumi claims that they’re rivals, though Sawako and the rest of us respond with puzzled looks since to be a rival one must have a prospect of being able to compete. Her defeat must have shaken her to her core, because it seems like she’s developed some sort of multiple personality disorder, or at least a severe case of indecisiveness. Even Pin’s teasing seemed to have given her ideas. Therefore, we must be on our guard until she completely accepts her defeat. What she can do now is beyond me, after admitting defeat and being turned down by Kazehaya. But at least for that evening the members of the Sawayakyaa Alliance have time to relax, singing karaoke and having a fun night out together. Kazehaya even gets a cute moment when he finds Sawako asleep on the stairs, blushing but proving his worthiness by not entertaining ecchi fantasies or trying to steal a kiss or worse, something that unworthy male protagonists often try to get away with in similar situations. Double standard, I know, but such things are only ok in cases such as those of KimiKiss’s Mao stealing a kiss on Koichi or Nyan Koi’s Kanako making an attack on a sleeping Junpei.

Crusader’s Record of Kazehaya War

The story of your life…

Following Kurumi’s glorious defeat it was inevitable that she put out some propaganda to try and justify her war on true love. Suffice to say she cried a river, a pity she did not drown in it… Fortunately for Ume, Sawako was not about to institute a Carthaginian Peace upon her. At any rate while Ume’s story was plausible in that she manufactured popularity for herself to be the perfect match. However her popularity was but a sham as those girls around her were just as vile and treacherous, though I still put blame on Ume for handing out notes individually instead of in groups to avoid unnecessary complications. Funny how Ume’s own cowardice and slavery to public opinion had killed her attempt at true love before it even began, I scoff at her plans for she disregarded Sun Tzu who had advised against long campaigns and advocated swift aggressive action. After all what is the worth of public opinion compared to True Love? Ume finally does confess but the ugly fail that she is now started seeping out and despite her assertions that Kazehaya will not find a cuter girl than her, it is a proven fact that Sawako is superior. I confess I relished every second of Ume weeping for her lost cause and the rumors regarding Pin, I hoped Kazehaya’s words on the matter of Pin were SUGOI hurtful in the extreme for though it may seem cruel it is fitting punishment for Ume who knew what it was like to be at the center of a rumor and yet did not hesitate to do the same to Sawako who had never demonstrated hostile intent. After the the confession FAIL Ume was prancing around in a Quattro cosplay. It seems that despite her defeat Pin’s lies have given Ume new hope (a fool’s hope but who ever said Zekes were smart…) and now she leads an Neo-Ume effort to claim Kazehaya. Our worst fears have been realized as Ume was a goddamn Zeke all along (though the rumor mongering and unrepentant evil were indicators that she was Zeke) and must already be planning colony drops to further her madness…

Ume being a treacherous Spacenoid aside, Sawako already has won Kazehaya without much effort as her genuine heroism and stoicism in the face of adversity proved more mighty than the shallow looks that Zekes pride themselves on. Zeus showed Kazehaya great favor as Kazehaya was allowed to spend a few minutes chastely with a sleeping Sawako. That made me DAAWWWWWW. Next time it seems we have a recap ep, though I would be more than happy to be proven wrong.

I am glad they’re all bunched up…time to pass a firing solution to Big Tray.

The lesson of the story is to never start and introduction with a lie…

Sawako is so compassionate! Where one would be justified in finishing off her opponent, she sympathizes with her and takes pity! How noble *clenches fist to chest and cries many tears of admiration.*

Mmmm, delicious imagery to accompany delicious victory.

Not only does she commit her crimes in pursuit of her own interests, she actively sabotaged the love of others just for kicks.

I was very happy to get a heavy dose of scenery porn this episode. Ah, beautiful.

Kazehaya was nice to her all along. One has to wonder why one so devious and superficial would be interested in such a caring and honest person as he.

WAAH WAAH! CRY SOME MORE!

More devastating than a Colony Drop. How appropriate that an attack similar to Operation British beats the French harlot.

Only now, when it is too late, can you speak without deception.

Not even a moment of shock or hesitation from Kazehaya. Good man.

Not so much.

Confession + (response = thanks) = romance FAIL. Taking a cue from Mayama, Kazehaya lets her down gently, not really having any other appropriate words to say. When it happened to Yamada it was the end of her chances (though she would still hold out hope), and Kurumi is no Yamada.

The lovely scenery and shot framing compliments the rejection of Kurumi perfectly, like a fine wine perfectly matched to a scrumptious meal. Mmmm, satisfying.

Because it’s more fun that way.

With the defeat of Kurumi, one has to wonder if there will be peace and the development of Sawako and Kazehaya’s relationship, renewed Kurumi aggression, or a new enemy. I’m hoping for the first option.

Wait for it…

Kurumi decides to take the dictator fashion route and hide her shame behind some opaque sunglasses. In doing so she follows a long line of oppressive dictators, terrorist leaders cum political figures, and war criminals.

Or perhaps she was trying to rip off Sheryl Nome? How dare she! This is no Zaku, boy, no Zaku you’re no Sheryl, girl, no Sheryl!

Yeah, I don’t know why Kurumi is acting like she still has a chance either.

Continuing down the petty dictator road, she now has her underlings follow her around for her to complain to and abuse.

Sports may not have gone her way, but Chizu can’t carry the entire team.

1. THE FORCES OF KURUMI ROUTED AND HER PLANS THWARTED, A FINAL DEVASTATING ATTACK WAS MADE AGAINST KURUMI HERSELF BY AYANE AND CHIZU. SEEING THE DEVASTATION BEFORE HER, SAWAKO INTERVENED TO STOPPED A PLANNED PUNITIVE STRIKE BY AYANE AND UNILATERALLY DECLARED A CEASEFIRE. NEGOTIATIONS WERE ATTEMPTED, ALTHOUGH COOPERATION BY KURUMI WAS NOT FORTHCOMING. IN THE FUTURE SAWAKO HOPES HER ENEMY WILL BE MORE RECEPTIVE TO BEING BROUGHT INTO A FORMAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES, THIS PREVENTING THE RESENTMENT THAT COULD BRING MORE DESPERATE ATTACKS DOWN THE ROAD.

2. AFTER THE FINAL ATTACK BEFORE THE CEASEFIRE, KURUMI ADMITTED TO HER MOTIVATIONS AND MEANS OF HER AGGRESSION. UNREPENTANT THOUGH SHE WAS, SHE WAS CLEARLY IN A MOMENT OF DESPERATION AND CLOSE TO COMPLETE BREAKDOWN. ANY PEACE TREATY MUST ENSURE THAT THIS RESENTMENT AND FEELING OF HELPLESSNESS IS DEALT WITH CAREFULLY LEST SHE TAKE UP ARMS AGAIN. CEASEFIRE IS TENUOUS AT BEST UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, AND ALL ALLIED FORCES AND ASSETS MUST REMAIN ON HIGH ALERT IN CASE THE ENEMY DECIDES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SAWAKO’S OFFER OF PEACE.

Wow, there was so much revelations about plots, strategic thinking, discussions with the defeated enemy, and shifting of power this episode to be worthy of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. With Kurumi backed into a corner by Ayane and Chizu’s proof of her dark deeds, and Sawako standing before her unable to believe the extent of her maliciousness, she drops all attempts at control and lashes out at Sawako while crying. She admits to spreading the rumors, to seeing Sawako only as an obstacle in her path, to being intensely jealous of her, and that she has no problems with using anyone and everyone. While she claims that others use her so it’s ok for her to do the same, such petty justifications fall on deaf ears and Chizu lays into her in a moment of furious and uncharacteristic eloquence. Sawako keeps asking if all this is a misunderstanding, for she is most merciful, but Ugly Ume displays why she has earned such a title and all but spits in her face, crying and yelling that she hates Sawako and was never her friend. Ayane finds her lack of repentance disturbing and walks off threatening to tell Kazehaya, and despite Kurumi’s encouragements to go ahead and tell him she clearly is fearful of the justice that is about to be done upon her. But along the way to the volleyball match Sawako stops Ayane from doing so, feeling pity for her defeated foe and calling off the shoujo equivalent of the ‘Highway of Death’ – having the one the rival loves hate her.

Things just get worse for Kurumi when she skips out on her teammates and they think that they actually did better without her. Piling on the damage, Pin, as predicted last post, just can’t keep his mouth shut and talks all about Kurumi being in love with him in front of her teammates and Ayane and Chizu. Kazehaya drags him off and tells him to shut up, but the rumor is already lose, Kurumi’s teammates talking about it immediately after hearing about it. Sawako continues feeling bad for Kurumi and runs off to find her, offering the olive branch and letting Kurumi know that she’s serious in her love for Kazehaya, that she’s not just someone who’s coming in to ruin Kurumi’s day for no reason. Not that Kurumi is being any more gracious about this attempt at a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and she even goes on to say how much better she is for Kazehaya. While the thought enters Sawako’s mind for a moment, she’s grown strong enough from past confrontations to acknowledge but ignore this attempt to make her feel insecure. Kurumi really lets the tears out this time, and while she seems determined to take one last action, I very much doubt that it will work. Even if she takes a page from Sawako’s book, reforms, and goes about her attempts on Kazehaya  in an honest way, she’s lost too much momentum at this point to make a counterattack that will provide her with any lasting gains. And the forces of True Love and Friendship always have ‘the bomb’, Ayane’s willingness to tell Kazehaya about Kurumi’s misdeeds should that option prove necessary.

Crusader’s Record of Kazehaya War

With her cloak of deception cast into the fires of retribution Ume is to suffer insult upon insult that has been long over due for her propaganda war on true love. Sadly Sawako is distressed that Ume was no friend and tries to mend fences despite the fact that Ume is not worthy of such efforts. It was wonderful to see that Ume was incapable of bluffing and was considered to be useless in sports. Her class’s victory is attributed to her conspicuous absence as her replacement proved to be superior in every way. While Sawako decides to show mercy Zeus ensures that Pin is unable to keep his big yap shut and thus grows the tale of Ume’s shit taste in men and love for Pin. The word is out and long may Ume suffer for it just as Sawako suffered at the hands of Ume’s vile lies. It is much more delicious as Ume’s own false facade created this rumor which was based on glorious misunderstanding instead of petty jealousy. With that concludes the last real battle that Ume was able to muster for in any considerable amount of force, I am sure that the rumors of her love of Pin, spread by Pin himself will take up most of her time in her futile efforts to quash them. Sawako may forgive her, but I shall forever laugh at Ume’s love of Pin, and long may she visit the tree of confession for True Love will never answer to one so vile as her.

Kazhaya’s minor bit in this episode, trying to keep Pin from doing any more damage. Perhaps even Kurumi doesn’t deserve that kind of BAD END.

This episode got back into using some of the more creative shots and ‘camera’ techniques that I enjoyed in previous episodes. This pan up through the fence is one, as well as the traveling through the branches of leaves of the autumn trees and then the pan up to the sky followed by rotating in a complete circle off to the side and then back to the ground.

This heart beats with an awesome POWER!

Peace negotiations. If Sawako can make Kurumi see the error of her ways and become her friend then her victory will be total.

Finally you realize the futility of your actions.

Perhaps this defeat will make her reflect on things, but I’m not letting my guard down until comes out with a definitive ‘I’m glad I fell in love with you’ admission of defeat before Kazehaya himself.

……………2. NEW SOURCES CORROBORATE INTEL ON PREVIOUS KURUMI ATTACKS.

DATE: EARLY JANUARY 2010.

1. THE ANTICIPATED SPORTS FESTIVAL OPERATION AGAINST ALLIED ASSETS WAS INEFFECTIVE DUE TO A QUICK COUNTER-OPERATION BY KAZEHAYA. SENSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION, HE QUICKLY MOVED SAWAKO TO SAFETY. FURTHERMORE, PROGRESS WAS MADE AFTER THE ATTACK ON FORMALIZING ROMANTIC TIES.

2. AYANE AND CHIZU, THE TDY TEAM FOR INTEL COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF THE KURUMI CELL, BEGAN INTERVIEWS WITH THOSE AFFECTED BY THE RUMOR ATTACKS AND RECEIVED REPORTS FROM TRUSTED SOURCES CONFIRMING OUR SUSPICIONS ABOUT KURUMI INTRODUCING THE DISINFORMATION. KURUMI WAS CONFRONTED WITH THIS EVIDENCE PRIVATELY AND BEFORE SAWAKO.

The series has spent several episodes on the sports festival, and truly it is The Longest Day…for Kurumi! Her plan to take Kazehaya to see Sawako and Ryuu together not only failed to work, it unintentionally fed into his insecurity and made him act more boldly than he otherwise would have. Running off with Sawako right in front of Kurumi, he even asked her out, though she was too confused to be as upfront at the moment. Still, it bodes well for the couple in the future, since Kazehaya has developed some initiative and Sawako is now sure of her feelings towards him. While she’s not yet confident enough to tell him, Sawako is certain that she loves Kazehaya.

The failed attacks on True Love and Friendship by Kurumi have left her in a very weak position, and the weak suffer what they must. First there was Kazehaya running off with Sawako in front of her, her cries and lamentations to the sky finding no favor among the gods. And then she stayed standing in front of the equipment shed waiting in vain for him to return to her, only to have Pin show up and completely misinterpret her false cutesy way of trying to get what she wants. Like a whole box of salt in the gaping wound, he told her that he’d be impressed with himself too, but that she’s way too young for him. SHE WAS REJECTED BY PIN! And if salt wasn’t enough, how about some acid? Kazehaya shows up just at this moment and is also convinced that she has a crush on Pin, and obviously finds this amusing.

The final point of significance was the culmination of Ayane’s investigation into Kurumi’s activities, finding proof of her disgusting lies from Ekko and Tomo, two reliable sources. Chizu is the muscle and couldn’t really understand the situation, but once informed immediately tried to march off and deliver a Char Kick powered by her three times faster red shirt. Ayane, however, plays a more nuanced game, and restrains her until the time is right. Confronting Kurumi outside with their proof, she has no way of feigning innocence anymore. And just as this barrage of evidence is pummeling Kurumi, Sawako approaches and is told for the first time of the duplicitous nature of the hated Ume. Whether her innocence and willingness to believe the best about people will continue in the face of this kind of evidence is unsure, but I’m guessing that she will acknowledge Kurumi’s sins but still feel some compassion for her. Sawako has saint-like levels of forgiveness in her, though Kurumi deserves none of it. Kazehaya’s insecurity was an asset for once, though it seems (and we hope) that he’s losing some of it as he becomes more open with his feelings. Believe not the propaganda of a few dead-enders arguing that Kurumi’s ends justify the means, for honesty and conviction is the only path to True Love and Friendship!

Crusader’s Record of Kazehaya War

Ume’s face just oozes QUALITY.

It has been a long time since the last episode aired and how fitting it is to bring in the New Year with a resounding defeat of Ume as her plans did not survive contact with Sawako. Words cannot begin to describe how much I enjoyed watching her fail miserably for her unjust war on True Love. For once Kazehaya became impetuous and whisked Sawako away from Ume’s prepared scenario while Ryu left the scene as soon as he could. It was there that Ume waited and waited to no avail for Kazehaya to return. Long was her wait and I delighted in her agony and uncertainty. There is justice in Kimi ni Todoke and that lout Pin got awfully full of himself at Ume’s expense, for once Pin wasn’t terribly annoying but they most certainly deserve each other. Almighty Zeus likes to serve his revenge cold and ensures that Kazehaya is there to bear witness to Pin rejecting Ume, this causes a wondrous misunderstanding that leaves Kazehaya believing that Ume has a thing for Pin.

Yano was also gathering evidence to SMASH UME’S LIFE INTO ATOMS and armed with a personal vendetta of her own manages to interrogate most of the school to locate the origins of those nasty rumors of fail. Yoshida can’t quite figure out what Yano is getting at, but given how Yoshida is incapable of thinking deviously I am not too surprised. Evil Yano is EVIL as Yoshida, Eriko, and Tomoko all learned to fear Ayane, good thing she’s on their side. While Ume is thrown into a pocket and a bout to be utterly annihilated Sawako shows up. Given how Sawako is most merciful I doubt that Ume will be put to the sword for her crimes, though it would be a most fitting end. Next week is all about Ume and will consist of her litany of failure and lose. While Kabitzin has finally shown his true colors and willingness to support Ume in her wretched works, I shall remind him that all her efforts are for naught and while Ume has tried hard she is simply a terrorist operating against true love who has caused many a broken heart in her vile quest to deny Sawako happiness. At least Sawako has expended a lot of effort to break out of her social constraints, while Ume tempted the wrath of Zeus with her vile tricks and Fake Tears to which Zeus replied with a BIG BANG PUNCH OF GREAT JUSTICE. To those that persist in supporting Ume Terror, all I can say is YOUR NEW SHIP IS UMExPIN, ENJOY YOUR NICE BOAT COMPLEMENTS OF SHINING ZEUS. If nothing else now that Ume is stuck on a nice boat she can contribute to the betterment of society and decapitate Pin, maybe then she’ll get ahead for once.

As we can see here it was at this point that Sawako achieved Rapid Dominace.

Here Ume’s preception of events was completely paralyzed as is written on her face.

Thus did Sanada breakout of Ume’s half-hearted encirclement.

No one wants to be related to Ume to tell the truth…

Inspiration to reach out to more people seems to be the only thing Sawako needed from Kazehaya, though the offer is surely appreciated if not entirely necessary.

USING A CONTROLLED LEAK OF ACTUAL INTEL, AYANE PUT KURUMI AND HER ORGANIZATION ON NOTICE REGARDING HOW WELL WE HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING THEM. KURUMI APPEARED VISIBLY SHOCKED THAT HER PAST AND CURRENT ACTIONS WERE SEEN THROUGH SO EASILY, THOUGH THE METHODS OF OUR UPCOMING COUNTERATTACKS WERE LEFT OUT. THIS AMBIGUITY SHOULD SERVE TO DETER SOME FUTURE ATTACKS.

The ‘Sports Festival Incident’ came to a close in this most recent episode with Kurumi’s most promising plan of attack thus far being thwarted by the forces of True Love and Friendship. Starting out just where the previous episode left off, Kurumi Wormtongue was still attempting to work her mind poison into Sawako after Ryuu caught the stray ball headed for her. And in the process of trying to convince Sawako that Kurumi’s unworthy obsession is somehow love, she has continued an increasing trend of poor OPSEC, going so far as to disclose her orchestration of a plan to keep Kazehaya from happiness for her own selfish ends. And barely even thought to try and cover it up! However Sawako would rather watch Kazehaya in the baseball game, and to Kurumi’s continuing frustration most of this goes right past Sawako, the rest being countered by Sawako’s Innocence-Field (I-Field for short.) The game ends in victory for Kazehaya and Ryuu’s team, but with Sawako looking at Ryuu as she tries to get up the courage to talk to someone new, Kazehaya gets a pang of jealousy. As insecure as he is though, at least he talks to Ryuu directly about it, preventing another of the misunderstandings that Kurumi feeds off. Evil does not rest, however, and Kurumi enters Pin’s classroom intent on getting access to the student schedule to better plan her upcoming false flag operation against Ryuu and Sawako, as well as her interception of Kazehaya. Surrounded by GN Pixy Dust particles, she calls on the dark deus ex machina powers of fellow terrorist organization Celestial Being to confuse Pin long enough to get what she needs and then books it before he can figure out what just happened.

All this plotting to undermine True Love and Friendship does not go unopposed however, and now Ayane makes her first intentionally visible move against Kurumi. This was the scene of the episode for me, Ayane came up on Vichy-tan and just shut her down with her analysis and deductive reasoning. Demonstrating complete control of the conversation to a shocked and dismayed Kurumi, Ayane came at her like Sherlock Holmes, linking together all the facts, motives, and actors with impeccable logic. She wants Kurumi to know that she knows and that she’s coming for her, but left the how up to Kurumi’s imagination. Such psychological warfare was beautiful to behold. Kurumi is eventually let go by Ayane, and proceeds to plant the false note in Ryuu’s locker, but Ayane is busy as well, plotting her next move even as the allies celebrate their volleyball victory. Ryuu gets the note, claiming to be from Sawako, and goes to the arranged meeting place to take his usual nap there and wait. Kurumi’s plan is going as envisioned as she directs Sawako to meet Ryuu and then goes off to find Kazehaya, but all is undone before long. Sawako asks Ryuu what love feels like, and although even a smooth guy like Ryuu has trouble explaining the concept he does impress Sawako by revealing that he’s in love with Chizu. The two are having a nice time discussing this when Kurumi directs Kazehaya to them, hoping to make him believe her lies and deceptions once more. But this too backfires on her, as Kazehaya goes right to Sawako and pulls a modified Nomiya Maneuver and runs off with her. Next time we’ll see where this walk leads, and I’m expecting good things. Hopefully a nice open talk between the two, brought up by this moment of action on Kazehaya’s part, will help them realize how the other feels. I also am greatly looking forward to Ayane’s plans, now in motion, to go after Kurumi. I’m sure they will be subtle yet devastating.

Hey someone had to try and slap the shit out of you for all that crap you did in middle school Ume…

So this is how this Ume operates, certainly her would be supporters must be bowing their heads in shame for having faith in this lowly stalker that is bereft of any inclination ofYandere prowess. As I had feared Ume the Ugly has identified the weakest target in her continuing war on true love. I did enjoy Ume’s desperate attempt to present her case for true love, but all I see is an insatiable desire to claim Kazehaya as some sort of chattel. Her girlfriend denial operation back in middle school has left her tainted beyond redemption and Zeus will ensure that her love life will be consistently SMASHED INTO ATOMS. Having seen how Sanada was a superior example of manly virtue she tries to start a ship of Sawako and Sanada. While admittedly Sanada is a great guy his destiny is with his beloved Chizu and the spirit of Patrick keeps him on the straight and narrow. Sawako still benefits greatly from her naivete which further frustrates Ume whose tactics and strategies are overturned easily, for negative feelings are as alien to Sawako as decency is to Ume. With the useless Spikey Sensei being a retard Ume gets the information she needs to create a “misunderstanding” that she hopes to use in her favor. It was to be expected for Spiky-kuns are natural enemies of true love. Ayane sees Ume for the treacherous little bitch that Ume is and makes it clear that even without proof Ume is being watched and that Ume trickery will not avail her against Ayane. Still having to maintain a public facade impedes Ume from conforming to the Colasour manual of courtship for she is an out and out coward and son-of-a-bitch. While Ume was most certainly to trying to create false love Sawako is interested in Sanada as a friend and once and future husband of Chizuru. Ume thinks her plan is going well until Kazehaya doesn’t cower at the mere sight of Sawako and Ryu being together. Suffice to say Ume’s plans have been gloriously derailed by Kazehaya who finally acted with a sense of urgency and got off his ass to risk his heart.
I like how Ryu was offering Sawako sagely advice on this complicated thing we call true love, so good to see that they get along so well though if only Kazehaya had more faith in his friends. Speaking of freindship the number of friends Sawako has is expanding despite Ume’s pathetic efforts at disinformation. Hopefully soon having failed with all of her foul stratagems Ume will be revealed as the worthless enemy of true love we all know her to be. It would be most righteous if Kazehaya were to find out that Ume was the one behind all of Sawako’s problems, but I wonder if the boy has even the slightest inkling that Ume has been poisoning him from the start. While this post maybe late this wait for episode 13 has been most difficult

The forces of True Love and Friendship excel in all they do.

More new friends of Sawako’s, it’s so nice to see her sincerity winning over so many, so quickly.

He is as wise as he is smooth.

Not so great at remembering names though.

Ryuu is just about as straightforward and to the point as Sawako sometimes. All the better to prevent misunderstandings.

Awkward, but better to get it over with than to let Kurumi’s falsehoods persist. Kazehaya’s moments of jealousy are unwarranted and maybe a little paranoid, but in a way they’re kind of cute in a ‘mixed up kid’ kind of way. He’s not going overboard with it, so I’m sure he’ll learn to be more secure in the future.

Pin definitely realized something was up, but was a bit too slow to do anything about it. This use of GN Pixy Dust by Kurumi points to material links between Kurumi and FTO Celestial Being.

I loved Ayane’s intimidation talk this episode. We know you started the rumors, Kurumi. We’ve got Yuuka’s testimony and an eyeball witness. Confess and maybe the prosecutor can cut you a deal!

2. WHILE APPEARING RECEPTIVE TO PEACE NEGOTIATIONS, KURUMI IS IN FACT IMPLEMENTING AN ASYMMETRIC STRATEGY NOW THAT CONVENTIONAL MEANS HAVE BEEN NEUTRALIZED. INITIAL DISINFORMATION OPERATION WITH THE AIM OF DIVERTING SAWAKO ATTENTION TO CURRENTLY NEUTRAL PARTY RYUU IS LIKELY THE FIRST PHASE IN A RENEWED EFFORT TO ACQUIRE ACCESS TO KAZEHAYA AND/OR CONDUCT ASYMMETRIC ATTACKS ON SAWAKO.

With all the worrying that everyone, myself included, had about Sawako acting like a doormat at first and actually helping Kurumi until later in the story, it was fracking spectacular to see Sawako neutralize and frustrate every effort by Vichy-tan in rapid succession. When Kurumi asked for help, Sawako replied without hesitation that she couldn’t help her due to her own feelings for Kazehaya. When she tried to guilt her by saying that Sawako was the only one who could help her, Sawako stood firm in her feelings. Then she tried eliciting sympathy by playing up how much she likes Kazehaya and wondering aloud if she should give up. And Sawako came right back with a firm but understanding and gentle reply that she understands but still cannot help. And when Ume revealed her true colors and went into full on anger, Sawako stood her ground not shaken in the slightest, and frustrated her rival further by not believing that such harsh words were coming from the girl in front of her. It was a beautiful sight to behold. Not since the Six Day War has there been such rapid and total domination of the enemy. I cheered, I clapped, I pumped my fist at the screen as I watched. It was perhaps one of the best moments out of any show so far this season.

After the two had done battle, the sports festival is about to begin and the class is preparing for the games. Chizu, in her three times faster red shirt, leads the girls soccer team to the field for the game, and before everyone heads out Kazehaya wishes Sawako luck and gives her a terrorist fist jab. Not only is this a cute moment between the two, but it also starts the ‘Zashiki Warashi Effect’ and everyone competing in the games that day seeks Sawako’s blessing of their quest for victory. First up is the girls soccer game and the game is a near run thing. It comes down each team needing one final goal, and at the critical moment when a gap appears in their lines Sawako uses her Kuroko teleportation activities (desu wa), stops the ball, and boots it back down field. And just to make things better, one of Sawako’s shoes flies off as she kicks the ball. Unbeknownst to her, Kurumi is downfield walking towards Kazehaya and expecting to talk to him when the shoe lands right.on.her.head. (STATION CONGRATULATES TARGET DESIGNATION TEAM ON SUCCESSFUL PGM STRIKE) Back in the game, the ball is now passed to Chizu whose unstoppable charge sends the ball smoking right into the back of the net, winning the game.

Kurumi holds on to the shoe, and once again Sawako takes her for being nicer than she really is, despite Kurumi not even trying to hide her true nature much anymore, and even invites her to come along and cheer on the boys softball match. Ayane tells her not to lose before she departs to get ready for the girls’ volleyball match, the comment passing over Sawako’s head, but probably understood on some level. Ayane is a sharp and devious one, and in service to True Love and Friendship she will serve Sawako well. At the boys’ game Sawako and Kurumi sit on the sidelines, Kurumi trying a few more attacks and failing miserably once more. She even tries to take credit for Kazehaya’s wave that was meant for Sawako, but it was clear to anyone who’s not a self-delusional yandere who he was waving at. Out on the field the boys team gets together and recounts the Legend of Sawako and how she helped win the game, when Ryuu corrects the other boys about her name being Sawako and not Sadako. Kazehaya seems to feel a temporary bit of undue jealousy, but Ryuu has no ulterior motives, he was simply the victim subject of Chizu’s name memory training. Vichy-tan meanwhile is still at it, trying to undermine Sawako’s confidence indirectly by saying that she would feel the same way talking to any boy. When a stray ball heads for Sawako and Ryuu catches it right before it hits her in the face, Kurumi seizes on what she sees as a potential opening. Her new attack takes place at the sports festival, as predicted, but I doubt it will be very effective. Ryuu is clearly more interested in Chizu (not that she recognizes this yet), and Sawako isn’t as simple as her adversary thinks. At most this will be a temporary distraction, though all must be on guard lest Kurumi find some way to take advantage of the temporary confusion.

Crusader’s Record of Kazehaya War

What new villainy is this?

After having put Sawako in the hot seat to help her seize Kazehaya, her ploy falls flat and Ume the Useless cries about how hard it is to be pretty and popular. Her false tears do not help her though as Sawako’s gut reaction was to signal her inability to help. Despite all her plotting Ume did not count on Sawako’s Zeus given purity of purpose and innocent intent, and thus Ume was vanquished before the spat had even begun. Sawako has become superior in soccer and was able to use her after image technique and it was nothing short of fate that had Sawako’s shoe fall on top of Ume’s head. According to Johnny Arab this is a grievous insult and I shall treat it as such for Ume is very much beneath Sawako. Having failed to destroy Sawako’s self esteem, Ume identifies a weaker target, Kazehaya. While Kazehaya is a respectable lad he has issues of his own, and his faith is sorely lacking. Long have we borne witness to Kazehaya’s moments of occasional jealousy, but now Ume has identified a weakness that seems all too exploitable. Ume now seeks to expand her war on true love and has schemes to not only counter SawakoxKazehaya, but also ChizuxRyuu. Kazehaya’s jealousy is a much softer target that Sawako or Ryuu, even the smallest praise of Sawako by other boys sends him into a panic. Patrick is very disappointed in how Kazehaya already began to fear that Ryuu had captured Sawako’s heart, silly as though it may sound to us Kazehaya is still a mere boy, but I fear that he may be far more susceptible to Ume’s trickery. Next week is when we see Kazehaya show his quality in whether or not he can see through Vichy-tan’s indefensible plot.

The longer this goes on the more hateful Ume the Ugly is, I rejoiced at her initial failure and hollow threats, but this latest ploy seems much more easy to pull off given Kazehaya’s jealousy and fear that Sawako may yet fall for another. I like how this series is keeping me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to see how Kazehaya will react and if Ryuu can defeat this ploy in one swift stroke. Still Swako is delightful as ever as she deftly avoids Ume’s incessant attacks and infantile tricks. Thankfully for now it seems that Ume has to worry about public opinion, how delisciously ironic that the greatest evil in this series has to worry about approval ratings.

Sawako has been followed around a lot lately by Kurumi, attempting to unnerve her, but aside from some nervous waving back has impacted things little. Chizu and Ayane observe this the whole time and don’t like it one bit, especially Chizu. Still somewhat nervous about talking to Kazehaya now that she’s starting to realize her feelings, Sawako is wishing that she could be more open and natural like she imagines Vichy-tan to be when, speak of the devil, she shows up and offers to listen to anything Sawako has to say. This is a most wonderful scene as it goes far from keikaku doori for Vichy-tan. Sawako explains to her about how she’s been feeling nervous talking to Kazehaya, and Kurumi, the manipulative, self-serving, lower than pond scum deceiver that she is uses this conversation to try and tell Sawako that she and Kazehaya are just too different, that she shouldn’t consider Kazehaya talking with her to be anything meaningful,  and that she would  be more comfortable talking to someone else. But her treacherous ways have no effect on Sawako, who decides to reject Kurumi’s real intent and substitute her own interpretation, simultaneously taking Vichy-tan’s suggests as pointers on how to speak to Kazehaya more and putting the sting to Vichy-tan by calling her normal and plain repeatedly. Vichy-tan again tries to undermine true love when she runs into Sawako in the hallway later in the day, only to have Sawako thank her for the inspiration on how to be more open to Kazehaya. The shock on Kurumi’s face was delightful, and I savored ever second of it, cheering and laughing as I watched (and rewatched).

We also get evidence of Kurumi’s past duplicity, which just further confirms what we’ve suspected all along. Chizu’s particular hatred of The Enemy is explained by her having gone to middle school with the conniving little rat. This incident has come to be known as the Middle School Kazehaya Putsch. When one girl liked Kazehaya, Kurumi approached Chizu asking her to introduce the two. The girl was rejected, but Kurumi kept bringing more lovestruck girls to Chizu for introductions who were also refused. This was Phase 1 of her plan. Eventually Chizu got so sick of having to introduce every single girl who had a little middle school crush on Kazehaya that she refused to keep doing the introductions. This was Phase 2, for it both marginalized Chizu (the one person who might have an in with Kazehaya that stronger rivals could utilize) and frustrated a sufficient amount of girls. Phase 3 was Kurumi suggesting to everyone not to ask Kazehaya out under the pretense of the collective good, and the girls were all too willing, in their state of emotional distress, to agree to this. Many dictators have used such manufactured states of crisis to assume power or implement their policies, and Kurumi seems to at least have paid attention to that part of history class. Chizu has written this into her Book of Grudges and warns Ayane of this, however Ayane has a keen mind and needed no outside information to develop her threat analysis of Vichy-tan.

Near the end of the day Sawako is watering the flowers when Kazehaya runs into her on his way to buy some Powerthirst during a break in practice. Having gained a little confidence despite Kurumi’s efforts, Sawako also has a moment of realization, now understanding that Kazehaya is just as nervous as she is. They finally start having a very pleasant conversation, and Kazehaya remarks that it’s been too long since he last saw her smiling. He plans on building a dog house for Maru-chan soon, and as Sawako Sawayakyaaas in her mind about the puppy Kazehaya invites her to come and visit him. HOME INVITATION ACCOMPLISHED! With the prospect of Sawako getting to go over to Kazehaya’s house for some quality time together all seems right with the world. But Vichy-tan is spying once again, and Sawako’s impending victory is too much for her to stand. She calls out from the window on the upper level from which she was conducting surveillance and asks to talk to Sawako. As the two walk Vichy-tan, desperate now that all her covert means have failed her, asks for Sawako’s help with the guy she likes. It is likely part of the plan that Epi outlined in his episode 09 post, and she tells Sawako that Kazehaya is the one she likes. I can hope that Sawako will have the strength to put her foot down and oppose Vichy-tan, but given her overconcern for others she may be duped into backing off or even trying to help Kurumi out of feelings of inferiority. But if this is the case then at least Chizu and Ayane have a clear picture of the situation and can help set Sawako on the right track. I also foresee a possible role for Ryuu in all of this, coming out of the background at just the right moment to deliver an ultimate attack against Kurumi, revealing her ugly heart for all to see.

Great minds do think alike…

I may have a cold, but my fury has reached new heights as the vile Vichy-tan reveals her true self and what a conniving harlot she is. Having failed to catch Kazehaya for so many years she tries to pull off her own twin tailed gambit but the end result is as revolting as her schemes. Not content with being a lowly copy cat Vichy-tan goes so far as to rudely interrupt any moments of friendship as well as Kazehaya’s attempts at conversation. Yoshida tells the tale of how Vichy-tan’s treachery all began in middle school as she led a parade of girls to the slaughter. This upon the broken hearts of many did Vichy-tan abuse Yoshida’s good will and institute Godless Communism over Kazehaya. Sure it may have been that it was “every one’s Kazehaya” but only the Supreme Soviet that was Ume that could initiate flirtation. Being born a lazy bitch she rested upon her laurels, Ume the Ugly tries to repeat her previous success at manipulation but due to Sawako’s Zeus given pure heart and ignorance of social norms it is an exercise in futility for that uncouth harlot.

Try as Ume the Ugly might, her attempts to break Sawako’s self confidence end in glorious failure. Unable to accept that Sawako has the blessings of Almighty Zeus Ume the Useless fumes and chaffs under the weight of her most deserved defeat and once again seeks to interrupt Kazehaya from following the tenents of courtship as Patrick had laid forth. However Zeus did not take kindly to Ume the Undignified’s interruptions and has Kazehaya speak the true name of the demon. Ume’s weakness is laid bare and I hope that the sting of it was amplified by the fact that the Kazehaya that she so covets had given Sawako her true name so hat the ritual of banishment might begin. Now at the end of her string of tricks the wicked Ume tells Sawako how she has always loved Kazehaya and has the audacity and arrogance to demand that Sawko help her achieve false love with her Fake Tears as I have forseen. Zeus willing her plans will be SMASHED INTO ATOMS and her fell heart shattered for all time as the just reward for her years of plotting and waging and unjust war on true love. I trust that Sawako will help but due to the hideousness of Ume the Unrepentant’s soul her ploy will fail regardless of any aid she gets from Sawako.

I think this episode clears up any and all doubt as to what Ume the Ugly is up to and how foul her methods are. Just goes to show how the agents of evil can come to us in guises most pleasant, it must certainly suck to be one of those apologists who held out a fool’s hope as to Ume the Urchin’s good nature. I could see her for the foul creature that she truly was and am willing to overlook past foolish remarks about Ume’s innocence. I hope that those who dared to defend her reflect on how woefully off the mark they were. The enemy has been plotting long but her facade will not last against Sawako’s pure heart that shows only confusion over her pangs of heartache and affection.

Chizu and Ayane do not appreciate all the stalking and interruptions. Not that Kurumi has managed to put Sawako off-balance anyway.

Sawako must develop better situational awareness. As Kurumi’s defeat becomes clear to her there’s no telling what she might try out of desperation.

Not sure why her imagination sounds like Americans with barely any Japanese language training, but it certainly was funny. I kind of like American Sawako.

We get some Kazehaya internal monologue for the first time in a while. He’s clearly been feeling the same way as Sawako and this just confirms the development of mutual feelings.

That’s it. I may have harbored a little bit of doubt about Kurumi’s evil intentions, part of my mind giving her the benefit of the doubt despite all the evidence. But this is even more vile and insidious than the rumor mongering and feigning innocence. This episode Kurumi ramps up her efforts at getting Kazehaya’s attention, but mostly spends her time trying to convince Sawako that she’s her friend. Poor Sawako, so sweet and innocent to the evil of the world, is clearly taken in by this offer of friendship. A friendship Kurumi clearly only cultivates to use against her at a moment of her choosing. The timing is far too suspicious for me to think otherwise: while only bumping into Sawako once in the past, now that Sawako has Kazehaya’s heart Kurumi purposefully seeks out Sawako and puts on her sweetest face to her. She’s likely been sneaking around herself or through operatives and heard of how positively Sawako responds to offers of friendship and knew just how to appeal to her. She even goes so far as to compliment Sawako in the same way Sawako thinks of her, only to turn the compliment into a disparaging remark moments later behind Sawako’s back. Now she can distract Sawako with her gestures, gain intel, and be better able to interrupt Kazehaya and Sawako’s interactions. One can only hope that in Kurumi’s recent zeal to get involved in her dirty work herself she will reveal herself for what she truly is and Sawako, with the support of her allies and friends, can learn not to fall for the same trick twice.

But in happier things Sawako has improved her soccer skills greatly in preparation for the sports festival, and even developed a bit of Kuroko teleportation ability. Apparently all that training with Kazehaya has paid off in terms of both sports and communication. The soccer team seems like it will be formidable in time for the tournament, and Chizu and Pin continue to plan their soccer domination with BURNING PASSION. Sawako is however in an awkward new stage of her feelings for Kazehaya, not knowing exactly what to say when she’s near him, complicated by her chest hurting when she tries to think of something. Kazehaya notices this, and despite his none-too-small amount of shyness in such matters, was about to call her by her first name and likely admit something of his feelings when Vichy-tan showed up to ruin the moment and rub salt in the wound by making her most overt appeal of false friendship yet. I sense that there will be decisive action taken by Kurumi at the sports festival, and the Sawako Alliance must be on full alert as it approaches. Mark my words, the attack will happen there.

Quite why she thinks her self as unladylike is beyond me, because she looks DECULCHA with them twin tails.

Despite the freezing temperatures up here my rage burns all the more furiously at this new ploy of Vichy-tan, the scum sucking bitch has decided to intervene in the budding relationship between Sawako and Kazehaya , but with a little help from Almighty Zeus her intervention will be more disastrous that Nasser’s intervention in Yemen with a Six Day War to follow. Unable to be a lady and compete openly, Vichy-tan has elected to try and incite feelings of inferiority in Sawako and she fails mostly because Sawako has no concept of jealousy or other such foul feelings. Instead Sawako mistakes Vichy-tan for a hero and ponders how best to copy her. Yano and Yoshida shut that idea down and to be honest her twintails are far superior to Vichy-tan’s haircut she overpaid for. All Vichy-tan can do is bug Kazehaya about her Ali Project CD and shit taste in music while Kazehaya gets lost in Sawako’s eyes. Sawako is unable to make heads or tails of her heart pain but at least her glorious ignorance prevents her from weeping about her perceived inferiority while she has qualitative superiority over her enemy. Kazehaya attempts to get over his embarrassment, but just as he would have made Patrick proud and confessed his feelings Vichy-tan intevenes and tries to claim herself as an ally of Sawako. I am utterly aghast and incensed by this outrageous plan of hers, not only does Vichy-tan hope to incite jealousy in Sawako , but now she wants to make her impending treachery all the more base my having it come from a so called friend. I hope this best friend card she attempts to play will back fire in a manner most messy, I know what she is up to; she simply wants to prevent Sawako from making progress by trying to get Sawako to put friends first and forgo the her own feelings of love, while Vichy-tan tries to improve the rotten edifice that is her current relationship with Kazehaya.

I am rather disappointed that Sawako mistook that bitch for a true heroine, clearly Sawako needs to be educated in the Labors of Alphard to understand what a woman should be or at least aspire to be. Vichy-tan is most quick with the insults and her false sincerity makes her all the more unforgivable and her impending betrayal all the more disgusting. I think that at this point Vichy-tan is irredeemable and doomed to fall into the deepest layer of hell. She is not worth cheering and is beyond redemption in my view even if Sawako forgives her, I will not. It is my sincere hope that Yoshida BIG BANG PUNCHES Vichy-tan IN THE NAME OF SHINING ZEUS so that the treacherous little wench will be SMASHED INTO ATOMS at the first sign of treachery.

I’d be embarrassed too if it was a two faced scum sucking bitch who has earned the scorn of Patrick Colasour and Alphard, whose days are filled with Fake Tears that Noe tosses back, and above all else no chance for happiness.

After a lovely Saturday night for Sawako and her friends, the face of the enemy rears its ugly, twin-tailed head once more. For the first time we get direct access to the conversations of Vichy-tan Kurumi and her minions. The three still traffic in rumors even after Yuuka’s defeat and Kurumi’s minions chide her on to get closer to Kazehaya. As if the leader needed any encouragement to viciously attack! While denying at every chance her designs on Kazehaya the gears of an evil mind were clearly spinning behind her cold and pitiless eyes.  The sports festival is upcoming, and while this presents opportunities for Sawako, Kazehaya, and the rapidly expanding Allies, Vichy-tan has managed to, in a way like that of Caesar in Shakespeare’s telling, refuse her way into getting nominated for the festival committee. After infiltrating the committee she continues her lies and deception on Kazehaya as well, though the power of love and Sawayakyaaa burns within him, diverting all his attention from her ploys. At the end of the day, she is clearly infuriated by this stinging rejection by Kazehaya and looks down on the school grounds planning her next cowardly attack.

While Kurumi has been worming her way into the committee like the invertebrate that she is, more worthy students have been preparing for the actual competition. Several classmates attempt to make Sawako smile and thus earn the blessings of the goddess in their quest for victory. New allies have joined the cause, with Ekko and Tomo joining the alliance and pledging their everlasting fealty to Sawako. Old ones have become more familiar too, as Chizu and Ayane suggest to Sawako that she start using their first names. She is, however, a little too shy to do the same with Kazehaya. Once Pin lazily announces that Kazehaya will be the committee representative for the class, everyone starts thinking ahead to the festival. Chizu thirsts for the sweat and tears of the vanquished and jumps at the chance, while the others have more mixed responses (and Ryuu doesn’t even bother to wake up.) Sawako goes to the soccer team, and begins intense training with Chizu and the others. stealing a long glance at her love as he walks off the field. She’s having difficulty properly smiling lately, but this is just the indication of the progression of her feelings to a new, if somewhat awkward, level. She resolves both to practice soccer on her own for the sake of her allies and to reach Kazehaya more directly. Towards both these goals Kazehaya shows up with a soccer ball to both help her prepare and give her an opportunity to spend time with him.

So it was after a most glorious Saturday that Vichy-tan was trying to work her vile propaganda to try and restart her little operation against Sawako. However after a long and painful fight her rumors are treated like horse shit and she sees her rumors getting laughed out of existence though legends have grown around Sawako and how her smile brings luck and VICTORY. Nevertheless it seems that Vichy-tan’s cult of personality has yet to be utterly crushed and she manipulates her underlings into nominating her as she feigns ignorance and innocence. Try as she might Vicy-tan is no match for Sawako’s might, as the latter is now on a first name basis with her comrades in arms. The sports festival is upon them and they train hard, but even with twin tails Sawako is no pro and will not have to suffer people invading the pitch for her sake anytime soon. Still Kazehaya takes notice of Sawako’s twin tails and her struggles with soccer. Vichy-tan seizes her postion in the festival committee through subterfuge and tries trading CDs to curry the favor of Kazehaya, but Vichy-tan’s choice of music is neither blessed with Sheryl Nome, Macross, or Shin Mainger Z and as such her Ali Project CDs get but a cursory glance. While Vichy-tan is aware of Kazehaya’s growing affection for Sawako Vichy-tan stands powerless before the power of Love and can only brood and plot her next deception.

I do not believe for a minute that the vile wretch is anything other than a manipulative charlatan whose personality is so hideous she’d turn Medusa to stone. Her plotting will not avail her as she is not even a worthy adversary by any stretch of the imagination. I am not fooled by her facade of sincerity as her underlings are dumb-asses that do not even realize that she is pulling their strings. May she regret her position on the committee for it was won not by chance or luck but with a corrupt bargain. This is only the beginning for now we know who the enemy is, and I for one look forward to her utter destruction. May her heart chip and shatter!

So my sorry ass has been put under the tender loving care of JMB and that means I have less time to fanboy Sawako and her first SATURDAY NIGHT of her high school years. So after the glorious defeat of Vichy-tan’s Girl bully thrust it was time for Sawako take a bit of R&R after doing a “backhand blow” of her very own. Yosiada wants to have a Ramen Revenge and seems to have a penchant for ranting about ramen. Sawako seems to like rants and it was a fairly innocent night though it seems Yoshida and Ryuu have a very complicated relationship and history. I hope that it will come out more later, but for now it seems Yano had her own fun trolling Kazehaya while feeling up Sawako and making the “gentlemen” fume with indignation. Kazehaya gets the honor of escorting her home. Fortunately it seems that Mii-chan smiles upon them and gifts them with a gorgeous DELICIOUS DECULTCHA night sky to admire. The forboding continues however as Kazehaya start feeling unjustified hatred towards Yano and Yoshida for building up skinship with Sawako. At least for now Ryuu demonstrates proper manly behavior in his dealings with Yoshida whom he sent off blushing…

At any rate since I am stuck doing training for a long time I’ll leave it to EO to carry on this series while I take the secondary role. With any luck I will have more down time later so it’s not too much of a rush.

EO’s Unadulterated Adoration of Sawako

After the intense conflict of the past few episodes, this time we get a well deserved break. Seriously, the past few weeks have really put me on edge, expecting the next attack to follow quickly on the heels of the first. But it’s alright cause it’s Saturday night. This episode there are so many happy Sawako moments as she hangs out with her friends that it almost made be forget the trauma of recent events. Still, we must remain ever vigilant to those who would seek to harm our Sawako and her refreshing way of life. We also got to know Ryuu better this time, and I have to say he’s a man after my own heart. Witty commentary and comebacks, joking yet subtly honest hints to Chizu, and he even saves time and hassle with his choice of hairstyle. And by looking through old yearbooks, a fine form of open source intelligence (OSINT), the allies finally have a name to put to the face of the Vichy-tan threat: Kurumi. But thoughts of future confrontations recede into the background as we get some Sawayakyaaaa-worthy moments of Kazehaya and Sawako walking home together, Kazehaya’s flimsy pretense for walking with Sawako only serving to make the couple even cuter.

EO’s Scramble to Finish the Post

Things being hectic for Crusader lately, I’ll be taking over primary duty for Kimi ni Todoke until further notice. Hopefully things will settle down for him and he can return to lead the posts, but until then I’ll do my utmost to bring you continued coverage, dramatic military-historical interpretations, and undying adoration of Sawako. With that said, I’d like to get this post out the door tonight so it doesn’t get too far behind schedule. As such my extra coverage will be a little brief this time (basically just expanding on my secondary comments/screencaps section.) So here’s a quick recap in images.

When Sawako was loli she was able to play with all the other kids…

T’was a most glorious episode as the first of Sawako’s foe’s felt the sting of defeat and were SMASHED INTO ATOMS by their own pride and subsequent inferiority to Yoshida. After being battered and bloodied for their infantile assault on Sawako Kazehaya delivered the coup de grace and voiced his disdain for rumor mongering bitches. While Hirano and Endo have no combat ability they mounted a successful PR campaigned that reaffirmed Sawako as the Zashiki Warashi of the school. All is well as misunderstandings are cleared up and oaths of friendship are taken openly and in a manner most straightforward with the lavatory. The venue mattered little and Yuuka the insolent bully was decisively crushed and she ended up in a manner most fitting. I was over come with glee as Yuuka was forced to beat a brave retreat and after escaping with no wounds begins to weep delicious False Tears that Noe dislikes. Ah that alone was the high point as her hopes and dreams of being with Kazehaya were SMASHED INTO ATOMS it was glorious to have Yuuka feel the revenge of reality despite being spared by Sawako. Long may Yuuko weep and long may she cry hot False Tears of lamentation and deplore her own folly!

On a more pleasant front Sawako seems to have had a colorful childhood, but it turns out that poor Shino-san was the one who got the ball rolling though I hold her blameless for it was the ignorant masses that created all the subsequent falsehoods. At least Sawako did not experience undue pain from her ostracism. Now she has some reliable friends and Shino-chan decides to conform to Yano and Yosida’s movements and relinquishes the mantle of Sawako’s only friend. Kazehaya is in a way glad but having been denied the chance to be the hero and with Yano and Yoshida’s monopolizing of Sawako’s time he is becoming increasingly jealous. I can only hope he keeps it in check… Meanwhile the original instigator seems to have started another rumor passing off blame to Team Yuuko, but while idiots may believe Vichy-tan and hope that it was not her, all suspects are guilty, otherwise they wouldn’t be suspects…  Yuuka may have cried a river, but when Vichy-tan gets what is coming to her Almighty Zeus shall ensure that that she will be hit with the force of a BIG BANG PUNCH. I look forward to the day that Vichy-tan’s fate is sealed.

ExecutiveOtaku’s Unadulterated Adoration of Sawako

Rejoice! For the crisis is over and we get many sweet moments of Sawako and her comrades coming closer together! This time justice is done upon the perpetrators of the cowardly bathroom attack. Apparently the head of this faction is called Yuuka, one who was led to the Dark Side by her unworthy jealousy of Sawako. After showing what a barbarian she is by pushing Sawako down, she is still unmoved by Sawako’s heartfelt and sincere declaration of the truth. Outside Kazehaya is restrained from intervening due to the cowardly choice of ambush location, but Yano and Yoshida show up to save the day. After routing their enemy they talk to Sawako and all are moved by the intensity of their bonds of trust and friendship in each other. As the Yuuka Faction flees in disarray before the might of Sawako, Yano, and Yoshida, Kazehaya waits outside to deliver the killing blow. Declaring loudly that he hates such vile rumors and those who spread them, his words pierce the heart of Yuuka as fatally as if they had been arrows. The consolidation of the Sawako Alliance continues for the remainder of the episode, with Kazehaya cutely worried that Yano and Yoshida are going to steal Sawako away from him. And in the end Vichy-tan reveals herself once more, dismissing the Yuuka Faction as mere children. Whether she is allied with them, manipulated them into their rumor offensive, or is (unlikely) just misunderstood as being an enemy, she obviously does not think much of them.

In Benevolent Retribution for the unfair treatment of Sawako by Vichy-tan and her collaborators Lord Zeus has commanded that there be one test for every false rumor…

As the vicious rumor assault continues Sawko is forced to do some soul searching as to what she wants and how much Yano, Yoshida, and Kazehaya mean to her. Sawako concludes correctly that she can never go back to being alone and with Kazhaya’s prodding decides that her friends are worth it and the rumors be damned. In the mean time Yano and Yoshida do a bit of soul searching of their own and realize just how much Sawako meant to them and how they had overestimated themselves. Ryuu tries to work his charms on Yoshida and I get the feeling he’ll be winning ground on that front even if it measured in inches. Sadly Vichy-tan is not the only worthless bitch in the joint as Toilet-san is also a belligerent bitch who likes to talk shit about people based on silly rumors. Rumor has it she does donkey shows…
With that hopefully the antsy phase has passed as all parties come to grips with how to define what they mean to each other. Poor Sawako’s selflessness is at least moderated by the fact that Kazehaya assured her that a ruined reputation was worth her companionship and in the case of Yoshida at least the rumors were rehashed ones. Yoshida wants to trust Sawako but seeing Shino-san led to doubts, still I am sure all will be well once they meet face to face. I think animation quality dipped in places and most notably when Ryuu was trying to charm Yoshida, I understand that these aren’t the most well funded episodes in existence but it could have been better since it was supposed to be a sweet little moment of just the two of them. Ah well I assume that Ryuu will be a little more persistent in the future so not a total loss. What irks me is the unruly mob that now threatens Sawako with physical harm. I don’t pretend to understand women especially high school chicks but I would meet such belligerency with a head butt and a good knee before breaking out the concealed pistol and getting them all down on the ground and crying for mommy as they wonder if their miserable existences will survive so much as another minute. With any luck Yoshida will beat them all up with a roll of toilet paper. I can’t wait for the healing to begin and I have to say that the whining wasn’t so bad, though mostly because of Yoshida’s SD moments. Kazehaya came out fighting from the outset and didn’t even undergo much doubt at all, though I am getting an increasing sense of “bad feeling have I” when he grabbed Sawako’s hands.

Vichy-tan’s vile slander continues to do damage, but its effects are rapidly dissipating as the shock has worn off with Sawako’s friends. Using such terrible and illegal weapons in her unprovoked attack the Sawako Alliance, Vichy-tan has violated many treaties including the Geneva Protocol on Shoujo Warfare and as such has forfeited any of the protections of civilized love warfare. Armis bella non venenis geri, Vichy-tan, or in this case “Shoujo war is fought with love, not with poisonous slander”. As the members of the Sawako Alliance begin to reflect further on the falsehoods spread throughout the school, they develop more as characters in their own rights, which is one of the things that’s really setting the series apart from most shoujo.

Sawako reaches her nadir of despair, wondering if it’s possible to go back to not being happy, but quickly rebounds and after a talk with Kazehaya redoubles her efforts. Kazehaya in particular shined in this episode, taking a firm stance against the lies and boldly encouraging Sawako to rise above the rumors and to believe in her friends’ affection for her. Inspired, she sets out to dispel the rumors and clearly express herself to Yano and Yoshida, and in the course of this happens upon some lowlife girls talking about the rumors in the bathroom. While trying to set their degenerate minds straight she’s cornered by a particularly aggressive one. But clenching her fist in what I hope is the windup to a Gekigan Punch to the face of said girl, we see the determination evident in the eyes of our beloved heroine. Physically threatening postures will not be tolerated, and should Sawako currently lack the resolve hopefully Yano and Yoshida will arrange an appropriately unpleasant day for said belligerent girl that will not be quick and will not be enjoyable. I look forward to the next episode when things look set to be cleared up within the Alliance and perhaps Vichy-tan will show her cowardly face for once. May the mistress of the dark lands come forth, and have justice done upon her!

Kazehaya also hurts from Vichy-tan’s dishonorable lies. But he seems the most resolute member of the Alliance, and will walk through fire and shadow for his love.

At least loneliness even looks beautiful in this series. I like how there’s just barely a little bit of color for the floor directly beneath the desk, but that it is without much detail.

So Vichy-tan after having been sent reeling on the field from Sawako’s infinite superiority in just about every aspect, the vile French Fry has decided to initiate a propaganda offensive. Not since the Mao Era have I seen such a disgusting smear campaign, worse still this student population believes all of it, I think it is time for a most violent purge and sending the guilty into re-education camps for thought reform. Fortunately Yano and Yoshida don’t believe much of it and Yosida makes me proud in that she now brags of having made teachers weep and BIG BANG PUNCHED every boy that crossed her path. I can only hope that Yosida will SMASH VICHY-TAN INTO ATOMS. Sadly because neither Sawako, Yano, or Yoshida is a fully fledged member of the School of the Undefeated of East they cannot communicate clearly through fists and as such they are not on the same frequency. It is reminiscent of how Halsey misread the the message from Nimitz regarding Kurita’s Center Force at Leyte and took the padding as verbatim, and now Yano and Yoshida are misreading the padding as well, all three wept True Tears, though Halsey’s were of RED HOT RAGE while Yano and Yoshida are of sadness and forlorn. At the very least Yano and Yoshida were not ready to lynch Sawako over such base rumors and struggled to keep faith. It is a most welcome revelation of what top tier friend material they are with a little more time they will be Kameraden with Sawako. Thier bonds will by then have been forged in the heat of conflict, sealed through mutual True Tears, and guarded by St. Noe, and if that insolent Vichy-tan thinks that she might win I cannot wait to see her weep crap tears of lose and fail.
Sawako’s own humility proves to be a double edged sword, and while it is good to no be presumptuous it is equally damaging to not realize one’s potential. Acquaintances do not feed each other, nor do they hand out notes free of charge. Yano and Yosida must also be inexperienced as these gestures alone did not make clear how much faith and love Sawako has for them. Sawako is many things but she is no hunter that can run down the perpetrator and decorate teh walls of the school with her entrails, as such I hope that Sawako improves her self esteem and that Yano and Yoshida realize that undying faith such as that of House Colasour requires a little more trust. All in all it was neither Yano, Yoshida, nor Sawako’s failings that I blame for this tragic turn of events. Rather it is this hateful rumor mongering culture of these school girls and Vichy-tan in particular that I would cast into the fires of Mt. Doom, such is their malice that I can forge a ring of power to match that of Sauron. Sawako was born ready.

I finally got over my jet-lag or at least I think I have, so I can finally give praise to Sawako. Sawako might be shy and overly modest but she is holding up just fine and making steady progress. I like how she is dealing with the walls that everyone put around her by SMASHING THEM INTO ATOMS with her polite attitude and saintly qualities. While usagijen thinks the rest of the class as unworthy miscreants who are undeserving of Sawako, Sawako is of such good quality that she cares not about their misconceptions and her desire to be friend them is undiminished by their spiteful ignorance and craven fear. Indeed many in Class 1-D are unworthy of such a friend, but they will be turned eventually. Yano and Yoshida may be rough around the edges but they are genuinely nice blokes, and do a decent job of providing snarky rabu rabu commentary. Yosida and Ryuu seem to have some history and Yoshida delightfully reveals how utterly ignorant the Kazehaya fan girls are. Seems back then they went communist and decided to institute the collectivization of Kazehaya. I look forward to seeing Sawako end this Kazehaya Soviet, though I think that Kazehaya is going to end it himself.

Pin the assistant homeroom teacher seems to have set integrating Sawako as an objective given how he took particular interest in our dainty heroine. While Pin comes off as a selfish prick I think part of him wanted to dispel the rumors of ill-fortune that surrounded Sawako, Zen probably wanted to as well but Zen was far too meek a man to alter the situation. Sadly his attempts to make the rest of the class pull their own god forsaken weight was all for naught as Sawako selflessly volunteered. Kazehaya adroitly sensed that opportunity was knocking and elected to help out, at point his fan club came out in force. I laughed when Kazehaya was overawed by looking Sawako directly. If nothing else Pin deserves some credit for giving that worthless puppy from ep 2 a proper name, Pedo Matrinez or Pedo-san. That dog is most fortunate that Sawako even gives the mutt so much as a snack.

I thought the note taking thing was pretty sweet, it made me dawww that Sawako could not imagine herself as the intended recipient, but the integration continues as two more girls come to understand Sawako. Using her brilliant mind that SHINES IN THE NAME OF ZEUS Sawako gets the whole class to gather around her. IN THE NAME OF SHINING ZEUS I must say that Sawako’s smile is something to behold and now the whole class caught a faint glimpse of Sawako’s true nature. Sawako had a little run in with the French whom I shall name Vichy-tan. We must be cognizant of the fact that Vichy-tan is not an ojou-sama but a coward and therefore thinks deviously. I for one do not fully understand her nor do I want to understand anything about her except for how much lead it would take to kill her. At any rate this weak and puny girl would not dare go head to head with Sawako’s might and decides to spread vicious rumors about Yoshida and Yano. I hope Sawako can stem the tide and rectify this situation and turn that bitch Vichy-tan into a honey comb. One could hope, but I think Sawako is going to consolidate her new newly won friends before launching a breakout to put Vichy-tan into a pocket and annihilate her win her over.

Kazehaya is unfortunately no Patrick, and it is starting to show in how he wants to keep Sawako all to himself, while at this juncture he is willing to help Sawako join the rest of the class, I am suffering from a bit of Bad Feeling Have I. Now that the rest of the class is starting to realize how great Sawako is I think Kazehaya might get tempted to start shutting Sawako away to keep her all to himself. I can understand on some level how Kazehaya wants to position himself optimally once Sawako’s feeling of love is awakened, but there is no reason why at this point Sawako should not be hanging out with the boys for a walk home… after I give Sawako a police baton, FN Five-Seven with two extra mags, a taser, and OC Spray, and of course hand to hand combat taught by Alphard to follow. Epi thinks that Sawako’s reaction to Kazehaya is too perfect I just think she’s stuck in a phase of hero worship where she doesn’t see the hero’s faults yet. Given how Sawako was pretty much alone for so long it is understandable that she has a special regard for the first friend she has probably ever known. Sadly being a social neophyte means she has little understanding of love, given how the general emotional response she gets is fear.

It’s probably better that he is the primary on this series, because 90% of my blogging would just be one long string of “daaawwwww” interspersed with me going on about how great the visual style is. With that out in the open, this episode our lovely Sawako consolidates her new friendships, gets to know others in her class, meets her (much inferior) rival, and has some more touching moments with Kazehaya. Sawako and Kazehaya continue revolving around each other, each giving the other confidence to open up to others in their own ways: Sawako on a more general level and Kazehaya in his growing relationship with Sawako. It’s so nice to see a romance-centered series that starts off the main couple as something of a pair, instead of the many one-sided romances in shoujo that only get reciprocated at the half-way point or possibly not even until the end. Internal monologue from Kazehaya, though rare, is key to this. It reminds me of how in Honey and Clover the viewer was able to see different facets of the relationships by having ‘access’ to the thoughts of most of the characters. And the art continues to impress with elements of watercolor and sketch techniques. Like the riverside and classroom scenes between Sawako and Kazehaya. Daaawwww.

This is the story of a girl…

Despite the lack of my kind of mecha it seems that I get a very promising shoujo series this season. Sawako is just darling as a little generator of fear forcing cowards to flee for the hills at a mere glance. Unfortunately she’d rather make friends with these cowardly types than cast them off a precipice of annihilation, but different strokes for different folks I guess. At any rate I have taken a liking to Sawako because she is such a good person who is sorely misunderstood by her idiot peers. Thankfully she is not too into weeping over her situation and tries to make others conform to her will. She tries to make friends with varying degrees of success but at the very least Yano and Yoshida readily accept her along with Kazehaya. Yoshsida is my favorite of the bunch as she has a code of justice and a fatal weakness for well mannered otome, Yano is a bit more slow, and Kazehaya is a boy that has yet to adopt the sagely methods of Patrick Colasour. Sawako may have trouble making friends but she takes to her Zeus given talents with gusto, and worries mostly about not living up to expectation. Long may Sawako SHINE IN THE NAME OF ZEUS. Sawako gets a bit weepy now and then, but at least she is selfless, though at times overly selfless, so I can forgive Sawako’s True Tears for Noe likes them too.
As for Kazehaya at least he’s trying to get through to Sawako that he likes her, still the boy lacks confidence and cannot be blunt and clear. I suppose that this being a romance and all that things will proceed slowly as Sawako’s shoujo kokoro slowly unlocks. It is good that she is starting to make friends, and what she may lack in quantity I am certain that she will make up for it in quality. Kazehaya has confidence issues of his own and has much to learn before he can get his BEST END. It was really rude of the rest of the class during the changing of the seats, and certainly it is wrong of them to blame poor innocent Sawako over their cravenly fear and how their own miserable failings result in them having weak immune systems and pathetic academic prowess. Certainly it is a form of bullying though one born out of an irrationally fear of some one who is as pleasant as they come. I really hated that ungrateful dog for being a coward it lacks the capacity to be a war hound and if it were up to me I toss the cur into traffic or drown it in the river. Next week it seems that one of Kaehaya’s stalker-tans will try and interfere, I shall enjoy watching her fail. If nothing else this show makes me dawwww and feel a little warm and fuzzy inside to balance out the copious amount of yuri I am currently watching. I must make special mention of the OP and ED which I really like and find wondrously relaxing and cute.
