It’s the time of the year with plentiful of new drama series *rejoices* All the overload’s making me spazz with excitement. Haha, I mean we have Goong S (omfg), we have HYD2 (winwinwinwin!) that’s more than enough of awesome series and gorgeous people that will be taking over my screens. Hehehe. I mean, who can resist their chiseled good looks, superb on-screen chemistry, goofy facial expressions kicked in with awe-inspiring demeanor?

Okay, enough about the fan-girling already I guess. Hahah. So I did a post previously bout a GOONG sequel coming up this year… Its not a sequel per se. Its more like a spin-off or special series thus the Goong “S

So yeah, because i have to continuously think of new and refreshing ideas for the polls to keep the viewers excited and blahblahblah. I couldn’t think of any other topic and the ones I’ve thought of before were rejected and forbidden by Impz. Like the idea on the “hottest that.animeblogger” – we all know trappy Impzie will win handsdown, thats a really redundant poll. Or perhaps, MY favourite yaoi pairing (JXJ) private joke – I bet I’ll not only be faced with a screeching nyoro but also be wrangled alive by two co-bloggers. XD

In an attempt to stay on the safe side of all things and still make the poll seem fun. I introduce to you the approved, acknowledged:

We have a few up and running contestants. Some with overwhelming fandom and popularity already, whereas some are lurkers in the dark, shifters who are rarely in the public eye. You’ll learn more about them in the later part of the post as i begin to reveal more about their deepest and darkest *muahaha* secrets (that’s if i know of any in the first place. lol).

1. Impz

First and foremost, we have our TRAPPY-SAN! our LOLLIPHILE! our notveryCHARMING pimpzie! Woops, i mean… IMPZIE! Aw, come on.. Who can ever refuse a date from the leader of the pack, the ultimate fangirl from the rest?!? Impzie also known as pimpzie (yours truly’s nickname for him), has a gentlemanly side behind him despite all his fangirlish demeanour and nyoro antics. Impzie’s size fits that of a nice cuddly teddybear, you’ll definitely feel safe and secure around him. Lmao. If you’re looking for someone to fangirl with, to giggle to, to ogle at cute lolies together, she’s the man! Easily bribed with any cute stuff, popiahs, donuts and easily read like an open book, Impzie’s the one you’ll want to go on a date with most!

Note: You make me disturbingly wrong. I do not do that much of such stuff, only for a while. I do admit that I am easily bribed. Sigh, re-doing your whole report for the price of one donut. Sigh, I am nice at the wrong times.

2. Alkanphel

Alkanphel, the one top-secret blogger who hates having anything in relation to him revealed online. A superbly loyal one piece fan (he tried converting us irl. lmao), gungho for any good food and adventure all around. DOESN’T fangirl or go nyoro like pimpzie does. A direct opposite, not meaty either so no teddy bear girls/guys. Witty and sarcastic sense of humor that makes you feel like stabbing him in the heart a thousand times over sometimes. If you’re looking for someone who _REALLY_ enjoys his food, capable of intellectual conversations and someone to rave over one piece/Naruto etc etc etc. Vote for him and his rubber band arms, as well as his random interjections of words.

3. Mr Admin

Mr.Admin, Dan the man. Silent, reserved at times, kinda hiding low for now due to school. A pro. at graphics even though he doesn’t admit to it and always denies. How humble can a person get and it is something everyone should learn from him! He’s a sucker for good food too. Guo ties and shui jiaos. :] An avid music lover with a large database collection, witty and cheeky at times. Cuddly teddy bear that needs an occasional bap or two at times. -baps. letter?- If there was an anime character that i think would suit him most, it would be Kyon from TMSH. He has almost exact facial expressions with high tolerance for demanding and exasperating people like me. Haha.

4. Joo

Joo, also known as the real life Tsundere, is how Haruhi will be like in real life. She is very fierce when it comes to it, glaring with that kind of “I am going to kill you now if you do not comply” look. However, she is extremely pretty too (enough to be on various advertisements in magazines), with the height to project her slim figure as well, which makes her both beautiful and highly dangerous if you are shorter than her. Prone to speaking, as well as having strange antics, you will never have a bored period with her at all. She is also extremely creative on various ideas during the course of the outing, which makes for fun and great surprises. So what are you thinking at all, she’s the choice to make for a good date. Did I mention that she will look excellent as Nanao in cosplay, both in height and appearance wise alike?

5. Lupus

Lupus, is our man deep in the South, just that he’s more to the north currently due to moving around. This man loves his manga and he often watches a lot of manly manga, which results in his character seemingly like a very bishounen version of Sagara from Full metal panic. However, he professed to be a very lazy person, just like Shikimaru from Naruto, meaning that he has this intelligence that can give you the thrill in anything you do. Just when you think something will turn stale, he will shift the momentum of fate in your life. What else do you want from a man like that who can fulfill that innate need to be surprised, amazed and engrossed in a date?

Note: In real life I’m like a less smart and more lazy version of Shikamaru, complete with Shadow-bind ninjutsu. If you’re into kinky shadow-binding, feel free to vote for me.

So i’ve been assigned the very important task of uncovering impzie’s gender to all you readers out there. Hahaha, the real gender orientation has been seriously debated and questioned not online in the online realm but also by yours truly, in real life as well (impz the victim. lol). I don’t think i’m the only one that thinks impz appears to be a female in disguise of a male due to all the lollie-loving, cutesy demeanour, fangirl/boy antics and gushie-like persona vibes emitted.

Impz screams at the sight of cute lolliphiles (AKA saber from FSN, midori (ze cursed one) from midori no hibi, yuki from haruhi and the list just goes on and on and on and on. Impz gushes at sweet love romances from the many shoujo anime, fangirls about them and talks on and on and on about these stories IN REAL LIFE (to us okay!). Impz also uses uber cute smilies which makes the identity of impz all the more dubious. Impzie in fangirl/boy mode is not something you would wanna experience. All the high-pitched squeals and rabid gushing really gives me the goosebumps.

The previous poll results saddened me greatly. In total, 572 votes are set, an overwhelming amount of votes compared to previous polls. Green, my favorite hair color for anime gals, got only a pathetic 9%. Where are all the greenophile visitors in this blog? Sigh, I guess there are not enough green hair love in this blog just yet. I must be doing a bad job! The winner is Black hair, with an overwhelming 29%, with Blue in a distant second at 14%. Red and pink tied for third at 11%. while Blond and Purple ate the wooden spoon.

I wish if I ever have such a vote next time, green will dominate the race.

The quadders consisting of me, impzus, alkanphel and invis trooped down with cameras and all sorts and found ourselves pleasantly surprised. Pleasantly surprised at the standard of cosplaying and the amount of characters turn out. We weren’t expecting a lot so you could say it was a very worthwhile trip and also because its our first time at a cosplaying event.. So we didn’t reallly know what to expect.

Very worth the 12buckeroos we paid. Hahaha. (After reading on some blogs about how management closed stores at 3pm oddish and people streamed in for free.. the 12 buckeroos we paid wasn’t that worth it after all.)

I’m pretty impressed with a couple of cosplayers’ outfits. And how some of the people look so apt cosplaying a particular character. For instance, i just hafta mention the naruto guy. He looks really good cosplaying him! hahaha. It really suits him to a T! And DOMO KUN!!! omg. That made my day, instantly.

The drama begins depicting footage from the past between a pair of lovebirds, Seung-Hee (a film director) and Hye-Soo (a musical student). He lost her (Hye-Soo) in a car accident which he indirectly caused 3 years ago and since then, has been unable to let go of their past together. Just when he thought he’d pick up from where he left off in life (3yrs fast forward) and goes scouring for filming sites with great filmography, he meets Bok Sil (a country girl) who exactly resembles his dead girlfriend.

Seung-Hee follows Bok Sil home to the countryside and is bewildered by her mannerisms and living conditions. Throughout his stay at her countryside home, he gets to learn more about her and her mom whose a little retarded. Due to her mom’s health conditions, Bok Sil has no choice but to leave little GangWon province for Seoul in bid to raise money for her mom’s operation.

Unbeknownst to them, after having gone through so much together in GangWon and in Seoul (Bok Sil is employed as Seung-hee’s assistant), never would they least expect what fate has installed for them.

It turns out that Bok Sil is in fact Hye-Rim – Hye Soo’s youngest sister who got lost in a fire in a restaurant many years ago. Bok Sil gets reunited with her estranged mother and finds her life changing before her. She finds it hard to handle her double identities and things get worse when she learns of the relationship between the director and her elder sister (Hye-Soo). She questions her true identity – Hye Rim or Bok Sil and her heart gets broken repeatedly from her mother’s objections and Seung Hee’s rejections.

Just when Seung Hee finally embraces her love for him and his for her, Hye-Rim’s mother interrupts and tries to keep them apart from one another – even to the point of sending Hye-Rim to the states. Despite their acknowledgement of love for one another (Seung Hee & Bok Sil/Hye-Rim), they were kept apart from one another from all the obstacles and barriers that were hurled at them.

My opinions:

What I really liked of this series was its different approaches in the storyline aka not your typical k-drama where girl likes boy, boy likes another girl, then drama ensuing. It’s refreshing to see how the story develops and to see the transformation in Bok Sil’s country girl outlook (though that didn’t happen till very much later. Damn!). I like how they portrayed the relationship between Bok Sil and her adopted mom, the close-kitted bonds and fear of losing one another.

The part of her adopted mother made me wonder if it was ethical for that adopted mother to take Bok Sil away just cause she lost her real child in the carbon monoxide poisoning incident. But then, we can never really understand how it feels to lose a child until we’ve been through it. I really felt for Bok Sil’s adopted mother because of her little retarded-ness and simplicity.

The importance and kinship between families that was clearly depicted in this series was really heart-warming though it tends to get depressing sometimes. I like the innocence portrayed by Bok Sil/Hye-Rim, a simple country girl who just wants to lead a quiet life in the countryside with her mother. Her grounded and optimistic outlook on life even after so much have happened to her was very much depicting this phrase – ‘every cloud has a silver lining’.

Apart from familial issues, this series also displayed the clear existence in the disparity of social classes today. One can definitely identify the reason why Bok Sil’s birth-mom was so keen on tearing apart [Seung-Hee/Hye-Soo] and [Seung-Hee/Hye-Rim] – due to their different backgrounds and status in society.

This drama deserves props for carrying such a different story and for displaying reality in its truest form. I’ve read reviews from people who cried a lot over this drama, which didn’t happen to me, surprisingly. Not a single tear shed, I don’t know if it’s because of the immunity level built up from all the weepy Korean dramas I’ve watched before or something else? –shrugs-

In short, this drama is enjoyable and touching, littered with funny scenes between the 2 main leads. There wasn’t a single b*tchy third party that clamoured all over the leads and for once, it isn’t all about the love triangles.

Recommended: Anyone who wants a refreshing change from the usual dramas

Oh and truthfully.. i didn’t want to watch this drama cos i thought it was some lame-old-boring series.. and when i finally caught the first episode i thought, “Heyyy.. this isn’t as bad as i thought it would be..” haha. :] and i just continued maranthoning it. =D and its title actually reminded me of aliens @_@ OOT but yah.

So yes guys.. There’s Goong 2. Thats the good news yes?
Bad news is the original cast will have no part or role in this drama..
I’m not sure when its going to be released, but if i’m not wrong.. Filming has started and its set to be released sometime aorund feb-march 2007? Its not confirmed. @_@
