Canaan, Episode 4- I’d Rather Watch Taxi Driver

canaanmain4

I’m covering for Crusader again, and I was supposed to do this much earlier in the week, but it ran into my preparations for the Bar Exam. My apologies. Well anyways, this show is getting a triple set of movies, which is hilarious for a 13 episode show. 13 episodes is somewhere between 4 and 4 and a half hours, so basically it’s just the TV series packaged into movies. How silly.

Sora no Manimani Episode 03 – My God, It’s Full of (Projected) Stars.

vlcsnap-2009-07-29-17h08m20s76

(Whew, after rushing through making posts for 1-3, I’m finally caught up to current, just in time for the next raw to come out.) As other students are just becoming noticed, Saku plans to ride out the rush of introductions avoiding attention and burying his nose in books. Instead we get some big time double entendre from Mihoshi, yelling in front of his class about what great nights she had with him and how she won’t let him sleep that night either, spreading both scandal and, to some, admiration for Saku. The Astronomy Club now begins to plan its next activities as Saku gets cold feet about being a member and voluntarily ‘goes missing.’

Sora no Manimani Episode 02 – Red Dwarfs and Other Celestial Objects

opening-red-dwarf2

(Posts are coming in kind of rapid succession, but once I’m caught up to the current episode I promise to stop monopolizing the front page. Ep 03 post sometime late today or tomorrow.) We find the members of the Astronomy Club in despair as their prospects of finding the fifth member necessary to be officially considered a club are bleak, not helped by President Roma coughing up blood as he tries to recruit others. But the presence of the second years in Saku’s classroom has drawn the attention of others.

Sora no Manimani Episode 01 – For it is written in the stars.

to-space

Sora no Manimani: a series combining some real astronomy with a romantic comedy story that reminds me a bit of Nodame Cantabile. Being enamored of space and astronomy for as long as I can remember (a Golden Book about the planets was one of my favorite books when I was 3 or 4 years old) I couldn’t resist wanting to blog this series. Since I just started here at THAT, I’ll be making some posts in quick succession to catch up to the most current episode.

Let’s begin

When the great Prince Ali called for a new uprising against the hated Azadistani occupier, one man answered the call to arms against the regime of Marina “Couch Potato” Ismail, …EO, Engineering Officer ExecutiveOtaku (added by Crusader)

Introductions are in order

I sing of blogging and a man about to blog

Greetings to all the readers of THAT and a gracious thank you to the other writers and admins for giving me this opportunity. I go by the name of ExecutiveOtaku (EO for short) a reader and fan of the site for around a year and a half and am now privileged to be joining the writing team here at THAT. I will be starting off my blogging here by covering Sora no Manimani this season, and perhaps picking up another series or retroblogging an old series as I begin to get a feel for how much time I’ll need to allocate per series and hopefully develop my own style of writing my entries.

Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Episode 3- Pantsu Patrol

yokumain3

What’s unfortunate about watching this on Crunchyroll is that I can’t really do screenshots to do a blog post. However, that’s not to say that I don’t really enjoy being able to watch it simulcast along with several other shows for rather cheap (and the encoding on the version I found to download this week’s episode is rather…bad). Laziness and impatience trump 7 bucks per month it seems.

Umi Monogatari – 03: The Most Diligent Loli

snapshot20090721214009

Go right ahead ladies…

While it seems that Umi Monogatari has been consigned to the dust bin by many I still find the yurilicious subtext to be very enjoyable. Even if it is slow, it does lend itself wonderfully as an alternate universe of Canaan where Canaan (born here as Kanon) was born to a boring life on a beautiful beach. One need look no further than that odd glove Kanon wears in her regular clothes to see that she shares the same fashion sense as her alternate universe self. I am sure if we gave Urin an airsoft pistol and a knife she would be the spitting image of Liang Qi, but I digress. This time it was all about Kanon’s childhood as the best grunt of her generation, and she certainly was adorable in her loli years with twin tails. Even if her dolt of an ex-boyfriend was useless, Suzuki seems to like her a lot and see past her dark aura. Marin really loves her and always makes a point to hug and reassure Kanon and her self esteem issues. The battle itself was lovely for one reason and one reason only…Kanon stepped up and carried off Marin for a change. Otherwise the POWER of YURI prevails once again as all Marin needed to do was hug the two offenders. Also of note was Kanon’s Mom who delightfully made her intention of making the most of the Turtle’s death, very clear… Also watching Urin cry made me DAWWWWW. Read more
