can someone tell me if Calawain has dropped this series? its been a couple weeks now and i havent seen any new episodes

Also @Calawain: Too bad that President King Bradley will remain stupid-sounding in English. I’m sure Dutch speakers, for example, do not find Voorzitter (or whatever the subbers choose to translate the title to) King Bradley as objectable =P

Have you thought about the possibility that the definitive parts are not shown because the characters do NOT possess those traits in the current series?

Let me reiterate my previous comparison of the two animated series as identical twins. At first glance, the twins cannot be told apart. However, as one studies them in detail, one might find that the ear of one twin is slightly porkier, or the eyebrow a touch pointier, or one has a crooked tooth where the other has it straight. Btw that’s only the physical traits; personality differences are much harder to spot but they still exist. In any case, the twins are similar but different. Therefore, please view this series as its own without comparing it to the previous one.

“A very touching ending to a character that we could not connect with as much as the first anime. I am sorry to say, i am upset to see him go again, but it was because i loved his character from the first anime go around. In this one there wasn’t that emotional connection like before. I am wondering how people who didn’t watch the first anime or read the manga thought about his death. If i haven’t i might not have cared much, though the kid at the funeral was very sad.”

yeh i totally agree with you, in the new anime lots of the parts that defined the charecters personalities have been cut out, like when ed and all saves the mining village from the corrupt military

I personally like the way the isbal campaign flashbacks are intervoven into the story in this series. in the manga ishbal was bit of a mistery for years until they did a flashback arc later. still hope they animate it tho it was really interesting bit of the manga as it showed a number of characters in a new light.

@ Dark Fishie: What an excellent way of comparing the two series, as identical twins.

I’m actually glad this series is so different from the first one. I wouldn’t particularly want to watch the same exact thing with a different art style.

I think Winry is cuter in FMA:B, anyone else agree? oh man, I can’t get enough of that short skirt she was wearing in the last two episodes.

In Memoriam of Hughes: my favorite line is from his daughter’s birthday party “Hey, you brats! Do something to my daughter and see what happens!”

That’s right, because he discovered all that in the FIRST series, not the second. Also, Juliet Douglas does not exist in the current series so your statement would not be correct anyway in regards to FMA:B.

No matter how much the firstanime!Hughes and the Brotherhood!Hughes are alike, they are different characters and bring different things to the storyline. I see the first series as an alternate universe version of the manga/current series because of the numerous changes. The differences between the two versions occurred within the first few episodes of the first series, and there is no clear line in regards to when the division occurred. (Episode 2 was changed to convoy a different tone to the story, and the first major changes happened in episode 6. Also, episodes 4 and 5 do not exist in the manga; in fact, they were considered “filler” episodes.)

Whatever happened in the first series may or may not occur now. If the same event does occur, it may or may not have the same effects to the current storyline or the same motives. Please keep that in mind when watching FMA:B. Forgetting that the first series occurred might be a little extreme, but the point is that FMA and FMA:B are separate entities. If FMA and FMA:B were people, they could be identical twins with different personalities =P

I know Hughes makes a big discovery, however, he doesn’t have any more screen time in the Manga than in this current series. That was my point. It’s the first anime that padded his resume so to speak.

It only seems like Hughes is getting offed early.

Sorry! but I need to desagree on something, Huges was important, on the original series HE descovered the Identity of on of the homunculous and how the war with the people of Ishibal started, because of Juliet Douglas remember? Homunculous of the Eric brother. If he wold of survived the story could of been shorter because the would known the real enemy.
