Misinterpreting signals is Kyoko’s specialty.
So it seems that Impz is still MIA for Skip Beat! I can only assume that he is deathly afraid of Mio and cowering in fear, so it falls upon me again… At any rate Kyoko was at a loss to figure out the intricacies of her character and starts to believe that Ren is bullying her by holding back the answer to old Mio Iizuka questions. As Kyoko ponders her situation, she starts finding inconsistencies in Iizuka’s interpretation as well as old memories of her past misplaced affection for Shotaro. Thankfully after a reboot of her memories Kyoko runs off upon hitting upon a sudden realization. The first to feel her wrath are a bunch of rowdy good for nothing high school Goths that certainly can spout lies, but when faced with the fury of Mio the cower and fear and shit in their pants.
Upon returning to the set Iizuka is still adamant that her old interpretation was correct however in the end her Mio was but a pale shadow of the death incarnate that is Kyoko’s. Turns out it makes more sense for Mio to use her scar a weapon against her foes and to bear it proudly like some twisted badge of honor that her loser sister failed to kill her and that Mio the Terrible endures. The director was initially fearful of this Mio but in the end Mio compelled him to fulfill her will and thus began Dark Moon. Too bad Kyoko is going to have to make amends for her rudeness to the Dark Lord Tsugura…
I think you need to bring tat up again…
Fuck bad end! BAD END!
Yeah I’d reset too after a Shotaro end…
Not much really happened this time as it was all dedicated to the birth of Mio over the objections of Iizuka. Ren did not take a big part in this one except as Kyoko most feared person, not even Yashiro could inform Kyoko of that the real situation was. Since this is supposedly going to have more episodes I wonder what sort of role Momose will play if we can get farther into the arc, after all she hasn’t ahd a single line yet… as well wait and see I suppose. One of the things that I liked about this arc was the Mio owned herself and was brandishing her scar as a reminder to her family of what a bunch of pansies they were for failing to kill her when Misao had the chance. I approve of this tactic of intimidation backed up by cutting remarks that make for decent lethality in conversation and perhaps in other areas…, as Iizuka found to her dismay. Now that Kyoko has found Mio production can continue though at this juncture Itsumi who plays Mizuki still has yet to play her hand, not sure if they plan to deviate at this point, but I doubt it since they have been following the manga closely while cutting out some minor stuff. Still now that Kyoko has it all figured out it’s some one else’s turn in the hot seat…
That which does not kill you makes you stronger.
And complaing is?
You have losers on your six!
That’s what it looks like when she is mad…
Indeed this rabble can barely make out a sentence.
Mio Mk II
More than you I am afraid…
This Mio not only grabbed his hand but ran it through with a knife…
No not really.
Heh so Iizuka thinks that she can sing…
Were Mio sisterless and had motherless died!
Mio would like to see you try…
You lose Iizuka
Had she had a heart to begin with but that blackend lump of lose will suffice.
Soon it will be real pain of heartbreak that Misao will suffer…
Yeah she’s better than you by far…

But a high school shooting isn’t in the source material!
Seeing how you are the one blogging both Skip Beat! and White Album, I can’t help but thinking what would happen if the spineless chicks of White Album snap and pull a Kyoko on Touya or one of the other losers…
…
Nah… That won’t happen. I can’t even imagine it, but only something that awesome will stop that anime from failing. The characters aren’t as hopeless as the one in Schooldays, but that is why it fails. Schooldays kinda made up in the end from all the train wreck.
…Why the hell am I talking about two shitty animes in this post? Damn me. Kyoko is awesome and her Mio is super awesome. That smirk shot is sure well drawn. The only bad thing about this is that it really makes me want to see Natsu… I wonder will we get to that part…
I have to say that dark scene with Kyouko’s eyes tinted purple was just great. I’m willing to bet some in that room will have nightmares about it. Kyouko really knows how to make an absolutely terrifying character. Was pretty interesting as she put the character together. Really improved on the old style this time. Really the director should be thanking her. If you want to surpass the old version you can’t just be copying it. Make it your own and move forward.
This could set up an interesting dynamic. After all it seems Ren might have trouble matching up to the old version with his love issues. If Kyouko’s Mio is too outstanding it could make his flaws stand out more. Of course expect something will happen with Kyouko to help that.
These next episodes should be good with this new Mio. Reminds me why this show has become one of my favourites this season.
I still have chills after watching Kyoko’s EPIC performance.
Shall she RESET or END? Of course, she should RESET. If she didn’t, we wouldn’t be watching all her murderous intentions and comedic misunderstandings.
That scar looked like a blood vessel might pop. XD
Love the interaction with the ‘thugs’. Kyoko really paid them some ’service’. ^^
That old hag has nothing on Kyoko-sama. If she played ‘Mio’ in the past like Kyoko is doing now, they wouldn’t think of redoing it. Although, I’m glad her performance wasn’t up to par as Kyoko’s ‘Mio’ because then we wouldn’t know how super awesome Kyoko-sama is! =^^=
@Marmoset
Yes it was in the English variant of volume 10 it is…
@Kaitune
If the rumors be true about this being a long one we shall indeed.
@FlareKnight
Indeed there will be trouble ahead, but at least Kyoko has found a new way to put the fear in this show.
@soyahoney
Indeed a scar should not be hidden it should be displayed openly as a mark that you have survived something and lived to tell about it.
I LOVE Kyoko, but Mio is awesome. Those eyes that look deep into your soul…! Ah she’s amazing. I’m also eagerly waiting the next scene when she switches back to Kyoko. It’s hilarious! I love this series so much and I’m always left wanting more. The anime better get a second season…
And yes: That which does not kill you makes you stronger.
That’s Kyoko and Mio alright.
I love this series so much and I’m always left wanting more
I watched this episode but for some reason I preferred the manga version. To me Mio is more sinister in the manga. Maybe the next episode will change my mind.
Is there a way to only take out the VAs? Like a version where I can hear the music/bgm/etc but only take out the voices. Everything about the anime is pretty faithful to the manga, but people like Shou are given the crappiest performances. Who the hell wants the same wussy voice as Kiri from World Destruction? Damnit does anyone here even KNOW wtf world destruction is? It’s that bad. No one even liked him! At least go Jihad-kun style so you sound like you have a pair. Key word is sound, as INNOVATION scenes clearly proved everyone in the future has no genitalia besides Ali. I know I’d be raging hard if all women of my era had no hole to stick it in.
Yeah, that’s about the only thing that prevents me from watching this. I blazed through all the chapters today, and I have to say, it’s the only thing that I’ve read that compares to UxU when it comes to “romance”, albeit completely different genre/style. Japan is better at this stuff, they should stick with it. I can actually ignore the very outdated art design because it was so good, though the anime seems to do a much better job on it.
It’s a shame though, that society encourages re-education and talks about how an average person goes through over 10 jobs in their lifespan in this era, yet a manga artist won’t even learn how to draw 3 different types of styles. A series as good as this deserves better drawings. Maybe not a different style completely, because you can argue it provides the charm, but isn’t everyone sick and tired of the fossil art of triangle chins and hair that no longer looks cool but they still give the shoujo crystals to it? I bet not one person, girl or guy that picked this up recently thought Ren was cool, let alone “bishie” in any of the panels.
It simply doesn’t compare. Something like Kuzumi Taiga who isn’t even meant to look bishie looks more cool than Ren. Same can be said about action characters like Guts in later chapters, or hell even Jin from Zetman. Keeping the Shoujo charm of flamboyant hair and clothes and whatever is fine and all, even the sparkles, but at least make your faces look better.
Great series though. The anime is exactly what the manga should take after in terms of drawing, so that alone is proof right there. There’s nothing visually displeasing, and it still fits the mood swinging tantrum throwing atmosphere of the story without making you go wtf on any characters. No, fuckup belongs to Death Note retard Raito. For a guy who was given a role of one of the biggest smartasses of this decade, he sure as hell wasn’t bright enough to figure out no balls =/= flair/flamboyancy.
