Boss Kana wants to know… WHY SO SERIOUS?
So yes its sports festival time and Mako-cakes gets paired up with Chiaki in a manner most FRIENDLY. Chiaki called it quits early with Makoto who ended up face planting more often than not. As Mako-cakes though he gets into the Minami home but is almost discovered by Chiaki who recognizes that Makoto and Mako-cakes has the same body type. Mako-cakes wished to help out Chiaki, but Kana warns him that he runs the risk of beind discovered, all the while of course while Chiaki is still in the same room, I wonder what kind of fantasy Chaiki had while Kana and Mako-cakes were debating the risk involved in a three-legged race. Nevertheless Mako-cakes elects to help Chiaki and they do get better not to mention FRIENDLIER, still it seems that Makoto and Mako-cakes being one and the same did not register for Chiaki. When Chiaki practices with Makoto again Makoto gets too FRIENDLY and gets a face full of fist. Despite the pain it seemed Chiaki seemed to like this friskier Makoto, as indicated by her blushing. I am simply amazed that Mako-cakes is getting more action than Hosaka and Fujioka combined hell he made more progress than both of them on the Haruka and Chiaki fronts. I am shocked that Mako-cakes even has a shot at one day dating All Woman Chiaki. Go Mako-cakes, he already went for broke and then some.

ZOMG Chiaki beind considerate?!
Uchida seems to be delighted that Kana has protected Mako-cakes identity for so long to the point she allows herself to be robbed of takoyaki. Indeed Mako-cakes owes much to Kana as he was enjoying Haruka’s tea while they were alone. Sadly though it seems that Mako-cakes has yet to be able fully adapt to hi role and was almost exposed for failing to lock the bathroom door and taking a piss while standing. It seems that Mako-cakes was ignorant of how women take a piss and could not fathom how to properly use toilet paper. Haruka almost waked in on Mako-cakes but Kana was able to blind fold Haruka as Mako-cakes tried to make a mummy out of himself. I fell out of my chair at that one. Kana seems resolved to maintain the secrecy of Mako-ckaes, so he can rest easy for now so long as he learns to lock the bathroom door from the Toilet no Yousei.

Whew…stand down Mako-cakes stand down.
Things are looking up for Mako-cakes as Reiko’s bragging about her hopes and dreams incites Kana’s rage. Mako-cakes thinks that bust size and ego have no correlation as the very existence of Haruka, who has seen how AMAZING she really is. Maki-chan makes a visit to the house and quickly feels up Mako-cakes and notes how flat he is. Mako-cakes asks Kana for help, but she points out how he just said that he would quit once people got suspicious. Nevertheless it is clear that Mako-cakes had long ago crossed the point of no return, and he finds a savior in Chiaki. Chiaki gifts Mako-cakes with Haruka’s dress which would magically grant the wearer a nice set of hopes and dreams. Mako-cakes thinks that he is unworthy of such a gift though he was fantasizing how life would be like if he had hopes and dreams the size of Haruka’s. Still he hesitates at which point Chiaki gets mad over how Mako-cakes is rejecting her love, the gift was after all in recognition of mako-cake’s past service for the three-legged race. Having to choose between fight or flight, Mako-cakes chooses to flee…right into Haruka as she was getting ready to get measure by Maki. Seems as though that Haruka is so AMAZING that she needs custom tailored garments, and that makes Mako-cakes one very lucky guy to have seen it all.
Umm…she’s sitting right there.

Kana also notices how close and FRIENDLY Chiaki and Mako-cakes are getting though the moment is interrupted when Chiaki spills orange soda onto Mako-cakes’ dress. Chiaki not knowing any better tries to get Mako-cakes to disrobe, and failing at that gets a towel to rub down Mako-cakes before it gets sticky…the innuendo ends though when Kana tells the story of a tanuki that disguised it self to be with humans, clearly this is aimed at the resident Tanuki and certified loli-con Stripey who has indeed taken on the guise of a human in order to BE FRIENDLY with little girls, as we all know that no human being could possibly feel any sympathy for Takyuki. Fortunately for Mako-cakes Chiaki doesn’t mind having a tanuki for a friend, so Makoto gets all shoujo sparkly and dumbstruck the next day. Stripey was last seen looking up the addresses of every Minami in Japan.
I see that there is still some manliness left in Mako-cakes aferall…unlike that loser Touya.

Wow, Kana is just eating all their snacks.
Chaiki later breaks all their cups and so they go shopping for some new ones, Kana goes by herself while Haruka gets paired up with Maki and Chiaki gets paired up with Uchida. I think Uchida is going to grow up to be Maki-like as there is no Hosaka equivalent for Uchida to oppose, in fact in the future I bet Uchida will still be helping Mako-cakes with his charade. In the end though they all get pink cups which makes none of them happy, Haruka and Chiaki get new ones as Kana gives away two pink ones to Touma and Fujioka. Touma thinks her cup is perfect while Fujioka had hoped that it was some indication of Kana’s love, but ended up sorely disappointed.

He who dares wins.
All in all a great episode for comedy and it was very much dominated by Mako-cakes, although they finally animated Haruka in a good manner. As I have said before Mako-cakes is the luckiest of all the guys in Minami-ke given how he is scoring mucho points with Haruka and Chiaki, with Uchida and Touma not even thinking about exposing him. Indeed Mako-cakes has shown what is possible when dignity is the first victim in the pursuit of love, to see Haruka in her unbridled glory there is no price too high. I laughed the hardest I have all season at this point and it certainly beats out White Album’s Comedy of Losers in round 7. Let’s see here we were again reminded of how AMAZING Haruka is, and we got into new levels of brokenness when Mako-cakes broke out all three colored hair clips he now posessess, and we also got Kana with claws and a very considerate and forgiving Chiaki. I like this new kinder gentler Chiaki a bit more although she seems to be a bit tsundere for Makoto. I’ll say it again, in the curious case of Mako-cakes it seems that dignity is such a small price to pay, indeed I bet Mako-cakes can now die a happy man after what he’s been able to see. In the end though with Mako-cakes and Chiaki getting FRIENDLY it seems that puberty is starting to hit, and Touma might yet recover, if so and this continues then I will enjoyu watching them all grow up. Next week it seems that there might be juice and Maki-chan is looking a bit evil there.

Yup – this episode’s the one which gives Mako-chan FIVE outfit changes (three different colored skirt/sweater/shirt combos, the period yukata, and the Chiaki bust-concealing dress). And in doing so, Mako-chan got a little closer to Chiaki than he probably realizes.. or at least she’s recognizing she CAN get embarassed around Makoto himself, to judge by the last episode and this one.
The scary part is that Mako-chan has been the ONLY one to get a custom eyecatch thus far… oh, and he looks like Maki but with a bustline in that imagination spot.
… and that makes six outfits with the return of the original Kana-hand-me-downs. Asread REALLY loves Mako-chan, but I love how the character designers bothered to give everyone more than just one outfit.
Indeed it seems that Asread does love Mako-cakes, funny how few other shows seems to have the wide expansive wardrobe these days, I think Sheryl was the last character that had as many outfits, Ranka to a lesser extent as well.
I think puberty has started to hit hard with the young’uns if nothing else Mako-cakes will be the envy of all when he has that much female company when he gets into Middle School.
The scary thing is about Maki-chan looking like Mako-cakes is that Maki isn’t even that boyish looking. Mako-cakes is just that good at transformation.
Mako-cakes has become chick magnet extraordinaire after he turned into a trap. 2nd base with Haruka and 3rd base with Chiaki, meanwhile Fujioka’s tripping out over a pink mug. I think it’s due time for Mako-cakes to give Fujioka some tips on the fine art of picking up ze women.
RP: Or he could as Touma for advice, since she was getting chocolates from all the girls last Valentine’s. Mako-chan, the way things are going, could end up becoming the next harem-master in a skirt.
Constipation is kicking in for Uchida? I wouldn’t put it beyond her to eat food past the expiration date. Her stupidity is a miracle of the universe, after all.
Too much Mako-cakes in this episode zomg. Still why they no show Haruka’s bra measurement dammit. That was something I wanted to see!
And yes, where the hell is Hosaka? Seems like when Mako-cakes is the main theme he will never appear.
What happens if Mako-cakes ends up with Chiaki? Hmm…
Repeat the mantra, “Shipping is Bad.” Done? Good, as it’s pretty out of place in Minami-ke’s comedy-oriented episodes. Of course, we do want Hosaka to be thrown a bone, when Haruka’s concerned though…
And let’s face it, Makoto is a done for. That’s the end of him, and the start of a wonderful life for Mako-chan.
Myssa Rei: No, Hosaka needs no bones to be thrown at him – he needs only his imagination and he’s happy… so we’ll let his imagination run wild. I personally have to agree with Maki about him being ‘wrong’ for Haruka, so am happy to watch him further improve his superhuman talents at cooking and delusional fantasies.
And I -told- you that Makoto had no chance of reclaiming his manhood earlier. At least he’s happy this way, with Haruka and now Chiaki as well. First she’s blowing in his ear, then she’s giving him clothing, next thing you know…
Mmm, which reminds me, what would be a better Minami-Ke spinoff? Koutetsu-Chuukan Hosaka, or Makoto+Holic?

And come to think of it… wasn’t episode 7 of the original season where we got the full-length shot of Mako-chan in the yellow dress indicating that those clothes couldn’t conceal his ‘wild manliless’? It seems almost to be a trend…

Mako is so lucky, given the opportunity to spend time with all of the girls as well as catch Haruka’s gods gift a few times. I kinda did notice that Mako is the only character that has a large array of clothing, normally the other characters have school clothes, swimming clothes & visit the Minami family clothes.
Makoto+Holic. Ha ha. Genius.
Given how things have progressed, I wouldn’t be surprised if Makoto had a more diverse wardrobe than even Chiaki at this point (including those stuff found in that bag in Okawari — yes I think he kept them). Manliness? Suuuuure, and Mizuho really has a penis.
Well, Mizuho really DOES have a penis – and a manly chest, as seen in episode 11 of OtoBoku. But the fun part isn’t that Makoto has a larger wardrobe than Chiaki, but that even Chiaki’s contributing to the ‘make Mako-chan more girly’ warchest with the donation of one of Haruka’s old dresses, which she herself used (apparently) to hide her own lack of a bustline. I would have to argue that, of all the guys, Mako-chan’s likeliest to end up with a Minami sister. Fujioka has no shot with Kana, and Chiaki may herself be derailed from taking him should things with Mako-chan go well… and Mako-chan’s easier to boss around, which seems to be a bonus for her.
As for Hosaka, he may become the most famous chef in all of Japan, but the closest he’ll get to holding Haruka is probably tomorrow’s main dish.
My mistake – episode 10’s where he pulled out that yellow dress and protested his manliness. Episode 7 in the first season was when Mako-chan was eating with Uchida and the Minamis wearing that pink dress with the frilly lace collar and had confessed to Kana that he’d gone out shopping for his own (women’s) clothes when confronted with the change of wardrobe. And we got a full-length shot of him squirming on the floor after the noogie too… while Kana pondered how she’d just given Mako-chan a push and then he’d taken the steps onto the road to womanhood all on his own.
… it’s always episode 7 where Mako-chan gets those moments.
Haess: We’re both perfectly aware that Mizuho has a penis (PAINFULLY obvious after I got the game). That doesn’t stop people from believing otherwise, as he’s Become the Mask so well, there is NO mask. At least, not anymore.
As for Mako-chan… Unless we get a Haruhi ex Machina, he’s treading pretty much the same path.
There was Jun Watarase, there was Mizuho, there was Aoi Futuba before them both, and there is Mariya Shidou. And all of them are very, very pretty men… who have between them confused a whole lot of guys in ways which make them distinctly uncomfortable. I still say there’s something weird about episode 7 of every Minami-ke series so far, where Mako-chan gets dragged down (or up, depending on your point of view) into another level of femininity. He is doomed… doomed.
I wonder how come his folks haven’t noticed all those closets full of dresses by now?
Ah, Fridge Logic. To continue that line of thinking, how about wondering how Makoto manages to even get those girly clothes of his WASHED. I mean, unless he has sisters, it’s going to be pretty hard passing them off (and I seriously doubt that an eleven year old has access to dry cleaning or the means to pay for it). Then there’s the SHOES and the ACCESSORIES…
Maybe Mako-chan’s is an only child and his/her/it parents wanted a girl all along so they don’t mind doing what it takes to keep Mako-chan XD

Man this episode really fulfilled my mako x chiaki tooth. I am fufilled and can’t wait for next weeks episode once again. Also with all that mako-cakes cross dressing action, and that bust line fantasy…..can I say scary. It seems mako-cakes has crossed the line of no return but we shall see in do time. Now what can I do for approximately a week until the next episode comes OUT?!?!

But comrade we are not shipping we are not so unkind as to deny Mako-cakes some quality time with Haruka. We just want to see how far he can go with his highly successful infiltration doctrine. Mako-cakes has been long gone for sometime every attempt to become a guy again has failed, the only time he will wear male clothes is when going to school and possibly work. I am sure that his parents are very open minded or that they think that this is merely a phase or that possibly their son was simply born to be an oyama. That or Mako-cakes is being aided by Uchida.
It’s the 21st Century if Mako-cakes wants to identify himself as a female that is his right to do so and in the US in terms of civil rights legislation no one can discriminate against his way of life. I doubt that Mako-cakes need to stop once the secret is out. Touma and Uchida don’t seem to mind and let’s not forget that Chiaki and Haruka have both heard Mako-cakes declare his true gender before, they just did not believe it. In time Mako-cakes will be like Alto-hime, there is at least one trade in which Mako-cakes can make a name for himself, it’s not like his love life will suffer for it. If anything his current modus operandi has already paid great dividends. We also have to keep in mind that Kana has yet to fail in protecting Mako-cake’s true identity, she may be an idiot, but there is no denying her wild success in that area.

I prefer Mako+holic since it rolls off the tongue more easily. I think Fujioka has a long shot, but failing that he can hang around Kana until death. I’t not like Fujioka is drawn to Kana’s sex appeal, though one has to wonder why he is even attracted to Kana in the first place.
Maybe Mako-cakes comes from a long line of cross dressers…

man I’m already watching Maria Holic, not to say that I’m that into it but its OK I guess. not to mention Chrome shelled Regios, Asu no Yoichi, G00S2, and zoku natsume Yuujin chou. im stacked and these shows only come out once a week. Also why do people encourage Mako-cakes cross dressing, personally I want him to stop. Sure he gets to be with his beloved Haruka, and get to be FRIENDLY with Chiaki but its still cross dressing. Maybe him getting hit on by guys will send him crawling back to the man side.
I’d suggest Makoto+holic to go with the same three-syllable sound that Maria+holic has. Beyond that, this seems to be fodder for my joke that Alto’s girlish looks and skills at portraying women come from an ancestor named Makoto… seriously, the way he settled so smoothly into the female role, to the point where Chiaki’s helping him disguise himself as a girl by contributing clothing to the cause…

I am sure that is what Mako-cakes will be doing that someday, Saotome was taken up as a stage name, and so the legend began, which was to later recieve some great Meltran genes because the art that Mako-cakes pioneered would be that YAKKKK DECULTURE! I am sure Mako-cakes would be proud of his descendant on Frontier, after all Alto-hime doesn’t even need to cross dress…after mastering the Ultimate Technique of the Saotome School.

Hmm… What is DFC’s? Anyway, wow, this episode was crazily all about Mako here but it sure was fun. But seriously, why did Haruka chose fish bones? Fujioka funnily still does not know that Mako is a guy and Touma is a girl.

No other guy in Minami-ke has a token such as the one Mako-cakes got, it is certainly SUPER SPECIAL. I wonder though if at some point that Mako-cakes will be cast in a gender bent play, at any rate if the facade is to be maintained he will have to get the High School seifku at some point…

Crusader: Natsuki got the photo of Haruka half-naked, but he’s only seen her semi-exposed once and even then only barely (a few buttons), whereas Mako-chan’s gotten the full-frontal TWICE. And now has her dress. He’s been well-rewarded.
Let’s not forget that Mako-cakes also felt Haruka’s caress when she tried to fit him for a bra, she also has a standing promise to help him get his first one too…
