Finally ended his coffee break to kick take names and kick ass…
How dreadful are the curses which Mammonism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries like Azadistan. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet Klaus rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mammon law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Jihad-kun has ceased to be a great power among men.
Individual Mammons may show splendid qualities — but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mammonism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout the Middle East, raising emo child soldiers at every step; and were it not that Great Religions were sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of the Federation might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome. – Oberst Katie

This is really about as much love as I want to see on this God Forsaken carrier, Lecherous Lyle has the right idea, go for new not used…
Lecherous Lyle is Lecherous!
Better than Jihad-kunxPrincess Poverty, in fact Lyle should be the main protagonist.
Well it seems that the Ptolemaios is indeed the Love Boat to beat this season no other ship could have as much ham fisted pretension to romance and shipping as this crew has proven eager to provide. Sadly we will never actually see any sex at all, because Sunrise doesn’t have the balls to show it on a Sunday. Princess Poverty and her Prince Jihad-kun are keen on making love but for some reason they are still talking about philosophy and boring me with their sermons on building something out of ashes. Indeed there is much to be had at the end of a war, starvation, exposure, the deaths of millions due to lack of effective transportation, and other such nice things that Mammons like. Despite Hannibal’s professions of loving Marie it seems that only Hal loved her as Hannibal had no problem paying a visit to Sumeragi with some wine in her private quarters. Lecherous Lyle is indeed lecherous and feels up Feldt, sadly the dumb bitch did not show tits and thus had to GTFO. Love is not limited to the pretension at heterosexuality as Saji and Ian are getting very familiar with one another. It also seems that Mileina has daddy-con. Suffice to say forced romance abounded aboard the Love Boat.
Lyle is the only guy on this ship that has is priorities straight.
Haptism has the condoms all taken care of…
Ladies and gentlemen.. of the G.E.D. class of 2299
I have one piece of advice for you
No matter what a stripper tells you
There’s no sex in the Champagne Room.. NONE!
Oh there’s CHAMPAGNE in the Champagne Room
But you don’t want champagne.. you want sex
And there’s NO sex.. in the Champagne Room (Sorry Al)
Mariana wishes to return to Azadistan to extort more money from the populace, despite the claims that Setsuna brought peace the current situation is grim to say the least once the apostate cleric Rachmadi died after an orgy with the locals. Under Shirin’s advice Azadistan did not join the Federation and insisted on begging for foreign aid instead. 00bama had invited them to join the Federation provided that they settle all their territorial disputes peaceably but for Princess Poverty Kurdistan was never to be granted independence or autonomy. Under her economic mismanagement Azadistan is now considered a failed state, and has since then joined the Kataron Terrorists in blaming every thing on the Federation for all of their woes and the sad state of Azadistan. Given the general collapse of Azadistan it has become a haven for all manner of terrorists who have enough money for armaments but lack the money to feed the poor and provide other jobs. Understandably given the lack of economic sense the Federation has adopted a policy of non intervention on economic matters allowing the Invisible Hand of the Mammon Market to sort things out in the Mammon states, as capitalism was rejected by Shirin.
Oh so Patrick did make it then?
Mein Oberst Katie is always hard at work, defeat teaches lessons, lessons which she will not miss.
Oh please be Louise’s onee-sama, Katie!
Captain KFC is mad at Katie, but while Major Lyndt is good Katie is a seasoned veteran at dealing with the crappy physics engine. The Trilobite made a decent first sortie and did much damage to the Love Boat, but ultimately Louise’s contribution to the war effort was piloted by mooks who did not stand a chance once TRANS-AM was activated. Thankfully at least the beam weapons remained hampered by water, but how precisely humidity affects beams is a mystery filed along with the pixie dust that powers GN Drives. Miraculously despite having their rudders clogged and their hull breeched the Love Boat is okay and gets rid of the gum that the A-Laws had put on them in record time, Hannibal and Jihad-kun plow right through the water as if it were nothing, given how the water effects in this series is a “Far Cry” from Bioshock. Once on the surface Bushido Bob and Soma finally get a chance to sortie and both of them stomp on Hannibal and Kataron’s Realdos and Enacts. Billy finally grew a pair of balls and decided to join the A-Laws and his Uncle Homer after the realization that Sumeragi had been using him as a servant and had been exploiting his feelings and money. All is not good for Sumeragi as it seems she had put on a few pounds while she was loafing about at Billy’s house.
Well at least the A-Laws have been taking their geography classes seriously.
Andre is looking for a sugar momma…
I see that Louise is being useful afterall.
Impression:
Well as much as I love Gundam experience tells me that the romance subplots have always been a weakness, I don’t think that things have changed much. I hope that it will never be a major plot point and remains on the periphery rather than take center stage. Moreover there seem to be way too many for them to handle more over romance quality for Gundam has never been that great and diluting suck would make the problem all the more glaring. Between Saji x Louise and Jihad-kun x Princess Poverty I think we already had enough cringe worthy relationships, Soma does not need a stalker like Haptism and Sumeragi vs Billy did not need a third wheel called Haptism. Lyle and Feldt was to be expected but this is not Macross and I don’t want to see such overt shipping in a franchise known for the kind of romance with the subtlety of a Grand Slam Bomb. Rather than focusing on the romance plots I think that they would be better off by telling me what the hell Ribbons and Ms. Wang are up to. I have to say though Lyle is at least scoring points with his behavior in not being like his stupid brother, given how much more fun this Lyle fellow is I think that we need to change protagonists, because Jihad-kun has about as much personality as a brick.
Time for a Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution eh? How about we start with a Great Leap Forward or a Hundred Flowers Campaign. You have a Five Year Plan right? Though I suspect that means you will be stealing instead of begging from now on.
Like Poverty, Pestilence, Anarchy, Squalor, and other such lovely things in a failed state. Jihad-kun wants the Federation to have an Azadistani society…
So are all who support your socialist faggotry.
Right now despite the dire reputation of Lyndt the A-Laws as still cops with attitude rather than the “Gestapo” that Sunrise makes them out to be. I hope the burning of Azadistan will make them to be the vaunted criminals that CB and Kataron would have us believe, but if it ends up as collateral damage from an anti-Kataron operation then it still would not look as bad given how any Kataron presence makes the surrounding area a potential war zone any way. I still can’t see how the A-Laws and Federation are any worse that Kataron or CB. With Kataron you have a bunch of people who elected to not join the Federation and rage incessantly about not receiving any benefits that members of the Federation receive. They have money for weapons, but not enough to feed the people they pretend to be fighting for. Funny how all of them seem so well fed while the Azadistanis they are “protecting” seem to be starving. Instead of keeping so much military power why not feed some of those people instead? It’s not like the Federation cares about a failed state, hell they are not obligated to care because Azadistan chose not to join in the first place. The Federation right now is only guilty of apathy as they have not been aggressively expanding their territory or forcing Azadistan to join. In Federation territory things seem okay with nary a beggar to be seen. While Jihad-kun hates the idea of peace for some and not for others the issue of peace in Azadistan is an Azadistani issue, if the “reformists” and “conservatives” cannot get along the Federation can’t just tell them to play nice and expect things to be rosy. Peace is something people agree upon, the only people who can stop the killing in Azadistan are the Azadistanis themselves, how the Federation is responsible I can scarcely imagine, but it seems that Kataron and CB have adopted a blame the Feddies stance for all the problems of the world.
Sadly the Trilobite was piloted by grunts and would not survive TRANS-AM.
Is here to avenge his father…
Take that Jihad-kun the most silly looking of the aces is going toe to toe with you in your Gundam 00, the difference is skill is clear….
Azadistan suffered from Dutch disease and that is hardly the fault of the rest of the world let alone the Federation for moving to cleaner energy. Quite where all that oil money went is a mystery but it is the fault of the Azadistanis if they did not want to invest that money to develop other industries. How waging a war against the Federation that cares little for failed states and stays out of conflict zones under a largely non-interventionist policy is going to benefit the impoverished states outside of the Federation is something I hope they try to explain. Given how Jihad-kun wants everything to be equal does that mean that the Federation has to be wracked by conflict because Azadistan is? Is the Federation supposed to be as poor as Azadistan as well? As much has the notion of equality is touted I see little benefit of socialism if all it really means is shared poverty on the level of Azadistan. It seems the logic of CB and Kataron expouse is that because Azadisatan is dirty poor and a shitty country that all countries should be dirt poor and shitty. All the evil Federation has done is arrest the woman who turned the whole place to shit, hell that is more thatn what Kataron and CB have done given how they only bought a four year truce to let things get even worse.
Jihad-kun still sucks as a pilot, and still relies on his Gundam. Mr. Bushido is not happy that you forgot all about him Jihad-kun…you’re breaking his heart.
Soma >>>>> Marie
It would have been a Frag, but right now it was only an almost raped…
The whines and cries of being sick of conflict seem rather pretensions given how the A-Laws were just waging counter terrorism operations against Kataron and not gassing colonies, moreover there have been no civilian casualties since the prison on Proud was for captured Kataron members. The way the A-Laws seem to be waging war is more like a police operation without the collateral damage that wars are known for. Maybe there will be more war crimes later, but if Kataron is waging war from behind women and children, then they will share just as much responsibility if not more so for getting neutrals involved. Right now the A-Laws aren’t hiding behind any one, while both CB and Kataron have been disguising themselves as non-combatants. I hope things stay this shady since honestly I think if Kataron has so much money for Mobile Suits without tax revenue then I think that they have a more sinister agenda. I suspect that Ribbons might some how be involved given how the other innovators but be out there somewhere doing something.
Graham is truly dead, for the old Graham could never hurt a FLAG…
Jihad-kun chickened out like the coward that he is. How silly Jihad-kun looks for not being able to beat that crazy cos-player Bushido Bob.
Too bad they’d rather be terroists rather than soup kitchen volunteers.
Lyndt did not do so bad at the outset and I still think the Love Boat not sinking or blowing out the ballast to surface after launching Gundams was rather silly. If it was taking on water as it was so heavily implied then there should have come a point where water pressure would have crushed them like a tin can. Moreover why did that Trilobite have to attack the flanks rather than go for the jugular and take out the bridge? Hell even attacking the engine block would have been more productive than going for the hangars. Better that the Gundams be kept inside a sinking hangar than tear them to pieces while they sink, surely after sending the Love Boat the bottom of the Persian Gulf would have been a much more lucrative tactic. Once the crew was deprived of oxygen, food, and flooded out underwater recovery could have taken place to salvage some of the Gundams using deep sea recovery, a la K-129. While Katie is still the best at least Lyndt recognized the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz. With any luck Azadistan will descend into chaos so that Prince Ali might restore the nation of Kurdistan after years of Azadistani oppression and mismanagement.
Sumeragi has gotten fatter…too much cake eh?
Oh God here we go again, damn you Sunrise and your Daddy-con
Billy has sworn revenge may the spirit of Kyouko aid you in your quest…
We finally saw the first sortie by Bushido Bob and Soma, and this time they did not disappoint though leave it to Kataron to spoil every thing by showing up. It was a change though to see Mr. Bushido hacking apart FLAGs though as much I like the FLAG they were little more than cannon fodder this time as the Over Flag unit is no longer around. Well at least Kataron paid dearly for interrupting Bushido Bob and Soma got a few good hits on Haptism even if Bushido Bob and Jihad-kun stalemated. At least while the Ahead has a named pilot it won’t be out classed by a Gundam and so long as Bushio Bob is still alive Jihad-kun can’t dominate every battle. Hopefully Soma and Bushido Bob will have some more help in the next ep as Ginin and Louise need to show up after their coffee break. I wonder how Louise will do this time and hopefully her hate will have made her powerful otherwise all she can contribute is more money to build more suits. This time I can actually like Louise a bit for doing something more than just sitting there considering how she devoted all of her family’s money into destroying the people who demolished everything she had for no reason other than lulz. If Louise is actually a good pilot then I hope she will be able to kill Nena and Saji to cement some sort of tragic story. Given how CB now fights for personal reasons in killing more people to make up for their short comings Louise is the killer that they helped create, hopefully under the inspired tutelage of such aces like Ginin, Soma, Bushido Bob, and Prince Ali Louise will make CB pay for what they have done. I have to say so long as the Ahead is moving the custom ones don’t look nearly as silly as the still pictures imply, not sure if Louise is gong to get a custom one but there looks to be another Mobile Suit to be seen, might it be my lord Prince Ali?
Okay Saji, you better be talking to Wild Bear for some lessons on manliness, now that Billy leveled up you are the only sissy left…
Could it be that it’s Prince Ali, ready to kill relentlessly?
Billy finally leveled up and with any luck will turn his old love for Sumeragi into a hatred most pure. Now that he realizes how Sumeragi had been using him you have to feel somewhat sorry for the guy to took her in and got dumped. Sumeragi used him for all that he had and she was the one who helped kill his comrades and friends. Hopefully Billy will start channelling some Kyouko after Sumeragi cast him aside as if it were nothing. Ruthless Billy is a useful Billy and I hope now he will be a mad scientist of the highest order.
Calawain’s Fanboyisms

…go back to your country and be completely useless for a few days until the Federation arrests you again. Someone explain to me the logic of going back, because if you escaped from their prison and hung out with CB, I have this feeling they will just arrest you again.

I found this really hilarious not only for the deadpan delivery, but for its novelty. In 99% of anime such a scene would involve stuttering and/or blushing, but not with these two. They are all about the serious business of crying and fighting.

I hope it was obvious to everyone that as soon as they showed a massively over-the-top dickhead who was way overconfident that he would end up getting his ass kicked within one to two episodes by the protagonists. He even had the beady red eyes to complete the look. I’m glad my prediction rang true in the end.

Stay aboard a state-of-the-art warship with a pimped out Gundam or go hang out in a shit poor country that took over your own country? Mmmm, tough choice.

Insert required half an episode about everyone’s motivations for fighting that the vast majority of the viewers really don’t give a shit about. Setsuna has Gundam Jesus, Allelujah has space loli, Lockon has his budding harem, Sumeragi has booze, Tieria has…robot pride?
New mobile suit+mook piloting=not surviving until the end.

Finally we get an Ahead that doesn’t get sliced up in 5 seconds. Unfortunately the duel doesn’t last long due to outside interference. I find the whole “Mista Bushido” to be extremely lame by the way, although I do enjoy Graham’s romantic infatuation with Gundam and Setsuna. Ever since Idolmaster I find mecha love to be highly amusing. I wonder if he will strip down for Gundam like Haruka did for Imber.

“I…missed our late night sessions Princess. Has that dirty Kurdish kid done anything…improper to your pureness?” Ahem, well if there was one thing CB has been missing so far it’s been an army of their own mooks. Perhaps now that Kataron wants to be BFF with them they will have the requisite supply of mooks to throw at the Federation.

FIRST!
I cracked up when they said MISTAH BUSHIDO
Ha ha, Bushido Bob… Leave it to 4chan to come up with a nickname that actually sticks to the point it becomes canon.
ROFL! I’m dying to know what nickname Billy will get if Sunrise were to give him one…I won’t be surprised if he gets called Mr. HaraKiri…LOLz
I’m going to cry when these motherfuckers win.
Have you guys considered doing the /m/ drinking game for this series? The one get gets the drunkest gets to write the post while the loser get to call the ambulance. I think it will be plenty fun.
“that crazy cos-player Bushido Bob.”
lol, crazy cos-playing Bob
“stay aboard a state-of-the-art warship with a pimped out Gundam or go hang out in a shit poor country that took over your own country? Mmmm, tough choice.”
also good, haha
YES! Now this is way better than the last episode. Nice to see A-laws kicking ass.
Someone tell. me if I’m really supposed to enjoy this as a serious opus. I’m seriously enjoying it as a cartoon with big violent robots, pretty characters, and an oddly serious story. It’s light fare at its best! Macross I always take seriously because I’m retarded for it. Code Geass forced me to take it seriously because as much as I want to enjoy it only for entertainment purposes – it is very very good (I don’t care what anyone else says). Gundam is good fun, especially 00. It’s never going to be original because it’s just a derivative of itself so I’ve stopped asking it to be any different. If they were to make OVAs again, then I demand it lives up to 08th MS Team and War in the Pocket.
Honestly if anyone feels the need to ask the question, “Should I take this seriously?” in response to a form of entertainment media (especially anime) then they should probably be looking into a new passtime. That doesn’t mean everything has to be a lolfest, but that people probably shouldn’t be taking any form of entertainment to seriously for the sake of their own enjoyment of it. Suspension of Disbelief, it’s been around since the dawn of theatre.
There’s also no such thing as a show that forces you to take it seriously. A show can’t force you to do anything because it can’t interact with you in any way. Only you as an individual could ever make such a decision. This serious discussion about the topic of seriousness in giant robot anime has been brought to you by your friendly neighbourhood Kaioshin.
By the way, is it just more does Calawain seem more “angry” then Crusader does this week?
Lastly, for an episod that featured the “Why do we fight” theme I found that it was actually handled a whole lot better then say….Gundam Seed Destiny. It was actually more backstory stuff as opposed to “Geeeeeeeez, waaaah, why do I have to fight. I think I’ll fight because of x”. It managed to avoid most of the typical cliches of such an episode (angst and fillerish feel) so I was pretty cool with it. The battle on the other hand was your standard ambush on the way to some place. Not my cup of tea.
Oh and I also wanted to add, usually the “Why do we fight” episode ends a character coming to the conclusion that they need to for a reason that is painfully obvious to pretty much everyone except the character themselves. Here it was like we actually had some discovery and development for the characters, especially Saji and Allelujah, the latter of which got brutally shafted last season in the later episodes. It’s good that they are doing this episode now, because it does need to be done to give some perspective on where the characters are going in the coming episodes, and usually it will only pop up right before the final battle when there is absolutely no longer any relevant reason why the characters should need to be considering why they are taking the actions they are.
By the Calawain, the rule is actually much simpler. It’s that Mobile Armors never make it out of the episode they appear in. As soon as you see an MA coming you know you’ve hit boss fight territory.
No real comment on the whole Mr. Bushido thing as I don’t find it nearly as warranting of my attention as everyone else seems to think it should be. On a scale of relevancy, Graham Acre’s new persona sits slightly below seeing Soma/Marie in that midriff bearing medical outfit in the pre-opening sequence and Midriff bearing Sumeragi in the post-credits sequence. In short I couldn’t care less if they had Lindt call him “Mr. Gaijin” or “Sodom”.
Those are Realdos and Enacts, not a Flag. Graham would never cut a Flag! Where is the GN-XIV Flag Custom?!?!?!
Yes, I’m one of those damned Flagophiles.
i’m just wondering whats the point of having a beam saber look like a katana… and now i also understand why the A-head is designed like that… to make Mr Bushido’s MS look the part
Azkadistan or however its spelt was never independent before! It’s a thin veneer for a place called Iraq. You can guess where all their oil went to. Definately not the people.
I bet a Crusader can beat the crap out of all the Gundams and A-Lols! Crusader: No remorse!
man, graham has lost it, seriously, not only is he cosplaying as a samurai, but he is making his ahead cosplay like a samurai too, seriously, a beam katana?
btw, those were a realdo and an enact that he cut up, not flags
“Captain KFC”
AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that one had me in stitches! NOW whenever I look at that guy in future episodes, I wont be able to keep a straight face. . . .thanks crusader.
I got a questions. . .at the begining marina was like just chillin in her palace watchin tv then the a laws arrested her. . .then in THIS episode she was talkin about how theyre all sufferin. . .
W.T.F was she doin jsut chillin watchin TV then! why wasnt her ass working!?
Well situation is pretty bad for Allelujah though. Losing his brutal other personality and the ability to use quantum brainwaves puts him in a bad spot. Really enjoyed that fight from the end of last season but right now he’s nowhere near as skilled right now.
I miss Veda. That computer would never have gone with such a stupid plan as to return the useless princess back to her country for no apparent reason. Just dump her on an island or something.
If Lyle didn’t want to be compared to Neil he seriously picked the wrong place to go.
Judau has been reborn in Gundam 00 as Colonel Jerk face with silver hair.
Mr. Bushido? Hey, that’s Zoro’s nickname in One Piece!
No, seriously, it is. During the Alabasta arc (like 4 years ago) Zoro was always called Mr. Bushido by the character Vivi. Gundam ripped off OP!
(speaking of which, Crusader, do you watch One Piece? I can easily see a military man like you getting enamored with all the kickass Marine characters)
Obviously the only reason Katie didn’t have enough man power to secure the capture of CB during the prison setup because they weren’t approved by her superiors. More likely than not she came up with a plan to wear out the Gundams and counter Trans Am with multiple waves. She also probably took into consideration the fact that CB would use the “humidity flaw” in beams (that’s a really stupid weakness btw) as evident from the use of shell based weapons on the prison suits [:D]. Just cause something is old doesn’t mean it’s useless.
But more likely than not her superiors probably replied, “Silly vet who’s already beat CB once, your plan is flawed cause it’s 4-5 years later and we’re awesome cause our tech is better. Speaking of tech you don’t get to use our latest weapon (trillobite) cause that would have made sense to have something patrolling in the waters surrounding the prison.” Not to mention if A-Laws superiors knew exactly where CB was going to strike, why not bring all your force to bare?
Seriously, mad props to Katie who has to fight not only terrorist enemies but has to deal with all the political strutting that is A-Laws upper command. Just also want to point out Katie probably already figured out there’s a connection between Kataron and CB, i mean they did have TWO coordinated (from the outside looking in) prison breaks outs. The probability that Kataron would intercede on behalf of CB is very high not to mention the “attack” that Mr. Chili Bowl haircut planned was in an area where the terrorist are known to operate.
These are all points why A-Laws wanted Katie instead of the Wild Bear. WB would have scoffed at their posturing and issued a “WILD BEAR KICK!” to Captain KFC and CB would have been defeated twice over by now.
Haha, Sumeragi is always so funny. She’s back on the job, and they’re already bringing her all the booze she needs. I thought it was interesting how she smiled when Haptism showed up with the wine. I was just waiting for someone to tell her that her uniform didn’t fit because she had gained weight, but alas that moment never came.
Didn’t most of Louise’s family die last season? Who is donating to let Louise play soldier? Am I reading this wrong?
Can’t wait for Haptism to visit Sergei’s house and find out that Soma’s curfew is 10:00 PM… or else!
Char Clones; to sum it up:
Zechs Merquise: Gundam Wing
Jamil Neate: Gundam X
Rau Le Creuset: Gundam SEED
Neo Roanoke: SEED Destiny
and now…
Graham Aker aka Mistah BUSHIDO: Gundam 00
nice one. that tickles a bit of this new coda-name. overall, he is still kickass in the battlelfield.
Mr. Bushido rules!
Let’s see what we have.
Lyle is a spy for Kataron in CB.
They so trust him. He so easily can leak information to Kataron.
Lyle is worse at shooting than his brother Neil and he doesn’t like it.
In his first mission as a newbie he was good.
The only thing which loves him is Haro. So at least Lyle isn’t lonely.
Kati is a spy in A-LOLS.
Her first mission was a failure, but a planned one by A-LOLS. So why on earth captain Goodman scolded her and even gives her a “teacher”. It seems that A-LOLS doesn’t trust Kati. Then I have the other question why A-LOLS invited her. It’s because Kati in their plans should be just a face who will be guilt for every their planned and not planned failure. The most interesting thing is if A-LOLS wanted someone who truelly would be able to deafete gundams, Sumeragi they would invite Sergei(HRL attack on CB, Thrones, the last battle in space in season one).
I would like to know how A-LOLs chooses their comrades.
Strange thing – I want too see more captain Goodman.
I’m so glad to see Ali in the preview.
And Mr. Bushido not Graham – sounds funny, but his skills are still good. I liked his fight.
Uhh guys…I think that MS.WANG donated that MA to A-LAWS.
@jedikid: I think so too, that bitch has been WAY too slimey from season 1.Also, she donated the money, not the MA.
Those weren’t Flags; they were Hellions. If you freeze it on them it’s easier to tell.
@ Kaioshin
First of all, I respect your opinions. I do however, disagree; and your suggestion that I or someone who has the same opinion as me re taking shows seriously take up a different pastime is off. Taking shows seriously is a subjective prerogative to anything and may well be the source of utility and value in experiencing the subject.
I purposely take experiencing “The Brothers Karamzov” as well as “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” quite seriously because if I went approaching it the same way I would approach “G Gundam” or “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” I feel I would miss out on a lot of what makes it great.
I don’t watch Gundam 00 for the lulz. I just take it as a light cartoon with awesome robots and brooding characters. It’s fun without me reading into it any further.
Now there are shows that give every impression that it shouldn’t be taken seriously – due to taking refuge in audacity, rule of cool, fanservice, and a host of tropes that can be said to detract from a “straight” anime or any cultural product for that matter. However, there’s a genius to them that makes it all work, that shows us a depth we didn’t expect to be there – even if perhaps we’ve always wanted it to be. Code Geass and Gurren Lagann did this splendidly. SDF Macross did it too, and Macross Frontier did not.
Perhaps I want Gundam 00 to be like this, because War in the Pocket showed me that Gundam, in Animanachronism’s words, “can be transcendent.” This is what’s behind my question whether to take this seriously or not. You may disagree with my thinking, but dismissing it like that and suggesting that I do something better with my time is quite off.
I was singing to myself
“Here comes Kataron to save the day.”
Too bad they ended like cannon fodder.
And yeah, long live Graham.
Just you watch, Crusader. The writers are going to have the A-Laws genocide hundreds of thousands of people just so you know that they’re supposed to be wearing the black hats.
wow, it’s amusing how I’ve been
stalkingfollowing these reviews, but never commented before *fails*first of all, I seriously love you guys. I can’t believe that there’re g00 reviews that make me laugh my ass off and think at the same time. *is a fujoshi who pays attention to the political stuff* So thank you, really, and keep it up!!!
well, on the episode… I really don’t like Lyle or Ali (because he didn’t get to kill Nena, more than anything…) lol but:
MR. BUSHIDO PWNS DA WORLD WITH HIS SENTIMENTALISM.
sorry, heavy mechaphile here XD but seriously, this episode was great. I really liked how all the subplots are starting to develope, and I guess we can expect greater events in future episodes. At least I want to see my beloved Grah– well, OK, Mr. Bushido, kicking more asses (especially Setsuna’s, I can’t stand Jihad-kun *loves that nick*) and to find out what the hell is Tieria… ah, another love of mine x3 and to see Kataron defeated – I agree with you, if they have money to buy weapons, why don’t they spend it on feeding their people??!
and Billy, about time you realized!!! Now go meet with Graham again!!!
Gah… Those first two paragraphs… Are they perhaps an adaptation of some old Churchill writings on Muslims? Sounds really familiar.
after watching the bit with the triliobite again i just had a thought as to how A-LAWs could possibly be evil, or at least negligent
polluting the environment with the particles of their knockoff GN drives, it already known that they can have adverse affects on the human body, so what could they potentially do to the ecosystem?
theres also how sumeragi notes how there aren’t as many fish in the water before the attack begins? coincidence?
just a thought though, don’t really have anything concrete to back it up
i dont think that Sumeragi got fat from “loafing about at billys house”, i think that since she is recently addicted to alchohol she has gained a few pounds from drinking too much. they don’t just include this kind of stuff for no reason, her recent wieght gain shown in her larger figure and the last scene where her old uniform doesnt fit her anymore is a way of representing she has been drinking too much booze.
OMFG! ROFL on your captions of the pictures. They’re so funny!!! Was there a caption contest, because they’re SO GODDAMN HILARIOUS!!!!
