Hey Impz, if you hate mecha/GAR shows so much then why do you keep reviewing shows like Linebarrels and Casshern? It's like asking a kid who is allergic to peanuts if he likes peanut butter on his sandwich.

"@Silver: I cannot wait to see more garness of Touma. It has been a while when a character is so GAR yet not annoying to me. Generally, shounen characters deviate from being completely wimpy to completely GAR (and stupid) without anything in between. Touma seems to be the exception."
I though you hated "GAR".

I thought the sound effects played during the episode (at least the subbed version I saw) were incredibly annoying.

I just couldn't get into this show and I tried very hard to give it a chance. I sat through the entire thing, barely and I can't see myself devoting any extra time to this series.

The only thing this has in common with SnS is probably the OP. The rest of the series seems pretty boring and trite.

IMO, Kannagi is off to a way better start than To Aru Majutsu no Index.

Impz: I suggest you try the sub-manga about Mikoto then: To Aru Kagaku no Choudenjibou. Here's the link to scanlations:

http://www.onemanga.com/To_Aru_Kagaku_no_Choudenjibou/

To be honest, I adore her. She's the "right" kind of tsundere ^_^ - and once you learn a bit more about her personality (see the manga I quoted), I find it easy to forgive her flaws, and rather be entertained by them.

@Panther: Heh. Maybe there is a reason for the wtf, but the transistion just didn't make sense for me at all. I have heard that the manga has moved the story much better, so it's gonzified again.

@SoSo: I am so going to go crazy.

@Skoll: Really? I feel that being a timid person, he should not have that much courage to transform almost immediately. Nonetheless, resentment and the hatred of being weak might be a compelling catalyst when this weak person turns strong immediately. Ya, your logic does make sense.

Another issue I have with the show is the fact that KoL tries too much to make it feel like it is another Gundam (making things look grand) without establishing any logic or foundation in the series. Jargons are thrown around like they are common place, facts are thrown at you so fast that you have no time to digest and most importantly, they make a likely fatal mistake of making such a grand episode without conjuring any sense of urgency or anticipation. I was a tad disappointed.

Heh, cos I am not watching it subbed.

@Zentari: So I heard. :>

@Kobukson: It would, i guess. soon.

@Silver: I cannot wait to see more garness of Touma. It has been a while when a character is so GAR yet not annoying to me. Generally, shounen characters deviate from being completely wimpy to completely GAR (and stupid) without anything in between. Touma seems to be the exception.

@CR: Arrr. thanks for the clarification. The anime really never did it justice then. That would have been much easier to digest that a major event results in a change of character over the years. That is more acceptable.

@13sugars: You are going to write, not me.

@Cokematic: ... Why do I find that there is some sexual innuendos in your line...

@Omisyth: Yes sire ^+^

The Linebarrel manga was MUCH better. Mainly because it has the accident where the robot lands on him take place 3 years earlier, so after the timeskip he's stopped being a wuss. At that point, he's actually in charge of the kids who use to bully him.

Concerning Linebarrel, he changed so much because he was chosen as a factor. Being a factor makes the user stronger physically and a lot more agressive. I do agree though that the change was too quick. Also, what Skoll said makes sense so now the idea that he changes so quickly and the effects of the factor makes a lot of sense as to why his personality went from weak to agressive in such a short time. Anyway, To Aru Majutsu no Index was fun and definitely looking foward to the next episode.

I thought Linebarrels was just too typical. In terms of the personality changes, I actually thought it was completely explainable. Kouichi is a kid who's wrapped up in the idea of cartoon heroism, despite being a complete loser. So, when he gets the opportunity to show his cartoon heroism by helping the obligatory naked-girl-who's-the-key-to-everything he'd clearly be happy. Likewise, when he realizes he's superhuman and can pilot an enormous stupid-looking mech with outlandish movements, the powertrip goes to his head. Simple.
