Nogizaka Haruka, Episode 5
I am not a lolicon
Another awesome episode of breaking cliches while staying in the genre. They even waited until the fifth episode to do a swimsuit episode, and it wasn’t even at the beach! And of course, Mika had on a sexier swimsuit than Haruka and Shiina, this show is trying to turn me lolicon. There was some stupid plot here about teaching Shiina how to swim, but it was pretty forgettable, focus on the funny instead.
They let high schoolers go to doujin conventions filled largely with porn? Maybe all the parents don’t know that’s what actually goes on at Comiket. Now that I think of it, they girls in Lucky Star went too. I wonder if Yuuto’s experience will be as traumatic as Tsukasa’s.

You’re a whore, go away. I love how Yuuto just sighs in annoyance rather than get all embarrassed, and only drools over Haruka’s swimsuit (not Shiina’s), you’re awesome dude. Future harem protagonists should be taking notes.

I wish my imouto would have tried to hook me up with hot otaku rich girls. That frustration aside it’s good to see an imouto character promoting the main character’s relationship rather than getting jealous or serving as a spoiler.
I’m very confused here. First, he saw her boobs and she didn’t throw anything at him but instead got all dere dere when he told her how good she did. Then, a huge squad of people come in and don’t mention that she’s naked and alone with Yuuto? What is going on in my school harem bishoujo show?! The lack of cliche moments that I’ve seen a thousand times has left me in despair! OH WAIT, that’s not despair that’s complete elation.
Initiate love triange, full speed ahead! Sorry Shiina, but Yuuto is already sworn forever to Haruka, you’ll have to check my previous posts. I don’t think she has much of a chance of unseating the title character, but I suppose it will suffice for some minor plot as long as they don’t try to push it too much. Let’s continue to not follow the norm writers, don’t make it hamfisted and lame.

I found that spisode boring but nice. I wish more shows lose cliche’s, they get annoying after awhile.
I love this show so much. There are so many moments that had me “Kyaaaaaaaaa”ing.
Mika is the best loli-sis ever. I love the way she teases Yuuto every chance she gets. The slutty teacher is always welcome. I must have something to satiate my meganekko fetish!
I also LOVED the way Haruka (the unusually popular girl) started showing signs of jealousy when Yuuto saved Shiina. It’s even more awesome that Shiina is a fan of Haruka’s. That sets up an interesting love triangle (not all that dissimilar from the Ranka/Alto/Sheryl love triangle in Macross Frontier).
What I love most about this series is that for a “romcom/harem” lead, Yuuto is not your typical otaku loser. He’s not even interested in otaku culture. He has no real visible defects. He’s not perverse or stupid or inept like most male leads. In fact, he’s painfully normal and average. There’s nothing really exceptional about him. He has no special talents or skills. It’s the other characters around him that have very odd/extraordinary personality quirks and abilities.
In this way, he sort of resembles Kyon from Haruhi Suzimiya. That might explain why I like him. Or maybe it’s just refreshing watching a male lead that’s not a total klutz when it comes to females.
I can’t stop gushing about this series enough. I crave moar Haruka, moar Mika each week.
The only characters that seem a bit excessive are the maids. They don’t really have a set defined role other than as Mika’s henchman so far, which isn’t bad I just wish they’d contribute more to that HarukaxYuuto pairing or join in on the harem front.
I really, really can’t wait to see how Shiina is going to handle reconciling her burgeoning crush on Yuuto with her idol worship of Haruka and how Haruka is going to handle another woman eyeing Yuuto or how Yuuto is going to respond to having the two most popular woman in his school competing for his affection.
Truly, as cliche’d as this show is, the formula works and after so many really awful shows this season this one is a refreshing oasis.

Up until now, I don’t even remotely see a harem. Only a very adorable couple that fits really really well together and an extremely enjoyable show (easily the best this season in my book – I am so sick of bleeding noses and the whole stupid set).
GO Haruka&Yuuto!

Damn right, Cal – it would be so nice NOT to see the usual heated love competition ensue (::fingers crossed::). I’m hoping that Haruka will prove too pure-hearted/intelligent to let jealous thoughts poison her mind; then as long as Yuuto-kun keeps his pants on, we’ll be in the clear XD. Add me to the list of people captivated by Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu’s charm. Yuuto and Haruka are the CUTEST couple ever!
this episode was a vast improvement over episode 4, but is still boring and predictable. can’t they just pick up the pace already??? -_-
