Quoting: Maipeisu
"Oh yea, and it is good to get the industry’s take on fansubbing. At first, I kind of assumed that they all wanted to behead fansubbers everywhere. But I realize now that the official cease and desist mandates trickle down from Japan. I’m curious as to how the U.S. companies would handle the issue if left to their own devices."

They would/do send out C&D's for shows they have the license to. The US licensers were the first to do it. The Japanese only started recently since they are cracking down on the raw providers in Japan. With most the Japanese share sites gone the Japanese anime companies are now finding the shows on BT, DDL sites, and so on. So it is like patching a hole in the side of your boat to only find out the boat has no bottom.

BTW: Your fansubber panelist list is wrong.

correct list =

YaoiBoy - LiveeviL
getFresh - Anime-Empire, FreelanceFansubs, Shinsen-Subs
Interactii - Dattebayo, LiveeviL
Hisho - Dattebayo

Just to be clear, Otakon's dealers room wasn't 25k square feet, it was closer to 125k square feet. Not that 25k isn't huge, but cutting down the size by a factor of 5 does kind of understate the hugeness of it all.

@Larry "Liontamer" Oji: Let me chime in with Ex, OCRemix is an amazing site. I was with Patticus but I regret not making it into the panel D: There's a Chrono Trigger remix by Mazedude on your site that I love even more than the original (and Chrono Trigger is one of favorite sound scores of all time!)

@Larry "Liontamer" Oji: Ohshiat, OCREMIX? I'm a fan of the site, I'm usually there digging up for new remixes. Your Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream project is a constant presence on my mp3 players. Keep up the good work.

PS: You guys don't want to make theme songs for the bloggers of THAT? :-)

There was also a very good cosplayer of Lum on the 2nd day... but she was leaving just when I was going back in. Didn't ask for a picture since she looked very tired.

By the way, I don't think C.C. would ever get a personal Pizza Hut pizza. Always a large :)

Ah, omo got it before I did, it popped up when the AnimeSuki fansubbers were talking about this. It's buried in my links now.

'Twas a lifesaver for me since I can't go to Otakon and this was something that would have been really interesting.

Yea, it would rock if they can add more panel space next year. But we'll see.

By the way, google says:

@Halcyon: I can't put my finger on it exactly, since I haven't seen the entire thing, but I got the strong impression that GaoGaiGar is a fantastic piece of animation. My friend also recalls following it avidly when he was younger and still living in his native Japan. GaoGaiGar was released shortly after Transformers Generation One, and ostensibly builds on a lot of the elements that Transformers developed (i.e. transforming and recombining mecha), but also incorporates other aspects that make the episodes very enriching, kind of like Transformers x Gundam or somesuch. The meticulous designs of the animators who did not have computer-aided animation at their command really make an impact here, in the form/construction of the robots, crazy transformation sequences, and the creative angles explored as a means to perpetuate the illusion and majesty of movement within expanse. I truly believe that many older mecha titles retain formidable visual appeal because they were the fruits of animators' infatuation with technical details; actually, I'm considering exploring this topic in a future editorial about how modern mecha design has gravitated more towards an "organic" feel. While it may be an acquired taste for fans of newer animation (and an easy win for nostalgic people like myself), GaoGaiGar is definitely the Golden Age of Mecha at its best. I'll be sure to update you when I get a chance to watch more ^^.

@Crusader: I couldn't agree more! Blu-ray needs to be exploited ASAP. I would LOVE to have full series on a single Blu-ray disc, in stunning quality. I would gladly spend money for that. Such untapped potential, both for games and animation...

@Koji: Are you on the West Coast? I have never been, but I'm dying to go to Anime Expo soon.

@13S: Make sure to hit up AniEx when you have a chance! Oh and by the way, they did not have the titles you were looking for, as near as I could tell (and believe me, I sift through EVERYTHING.) One of these nights when I go on another four hour Internet hunt and I'll be sure to keep Zorro and Fortune Quest on my list.
