Jajaja Calawain lost it... why don´t you do a special page for this kind of things, where halcyon and crusader can keep going with it... flaming at each other... ok not flaming but arguing their points of view...
But at least you´ve got another page full of large comments...
By the way, someone knows where I can find a translate version of the cd drama (kallen/CC) or at least a review of it... I´d like to know what they talked about...

All right, my bad, I'm sorry. That was really off of topic. I'll keep those opinions to myself.

Back to Lelouch, lashing out is intentional. It was regretted almost instantly, but he had control of his actions.
I don't think he's a wife-beater, though. I don't think it's enough to bring a charge down. And, as you said earlier, a beating involves numerous blows.
The need for the last word... well, I'll give it up if people respond to this, I think.

You say fair enough but then you go on and spend most of the comment off topic doing exactly what I asked people not to do. Someone just needs to man/woman up and let it go for now.

Fair enough!

@Inkywool
I was more taken aback by your view on rape.

The only time I mentioned "rape" was to illustrate an example in which an accusation, without proof, is sufficient enough to warrant an arrest. This is just an example of a "gender-preference" in the legal system which exists today.

My point is that Crusader seems to be an advocate of "arrest him first, and find the proof of wrongdoing later". That's completely contradictory to the intent and function of the US Legal System. And the only reason he supports this position is because the alleged victim is female. If a male suffered the same crime his position would be "okay we need proof first, then arrest him". That is a prime example of gender bias.

I'm not touching the rest of the post because it's simply far beyond the original scope of the debate, which was "Is Lelouch a woman beater or not?"

I presented both literal and legal definitions the prove conclusively Lelouch does not meet the criteria to qualify as a "woman beater", thereby nullifying all claims to the contrary.

An accident is “Oh, I tripped and fell no you” and not “oh, I got upset and swung at you” so… I guess that’s what I had to say.

Negative. According to the literal definition of the word, an accident is:

ac·ci·dent Audio Help /ˈæksɪdənt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ak-si-duhnt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap:

The keyword you have might want to look at is "unintentionally". It's quite clear to anyone watching the events of the episode that the injury sustained by C2 via Lelouch swinging his arm out (possibly to push or shove her out of his way) was completely accidental as he clearly did not intend to cause her harm or injury.

Now, if anyone else wants to debate me on any of these facts, make sure you have verifiable definitions, evidence and proper context (i.e. looking at the entire episode, not just cherry-picking which parts conveniently fit your pre-existing prejudices). Objectivity, not Subjectivity, is what wins debates, Lads.

Debate is nice and all, but please keep it centered on the show itself, not other people's view on rape. I've kind of let these discussions go for the most part, but I'd like to keep them on topic. Cooperation is appreciated.

@Halycyon

I know I'm a bit late catching the boat here, but... figured I'd toss my two cents in.
Funny thing, my issue isn't with your view on the show. I was more taken aback by your view on rape.
First off, it contradicted what you said about law in general, which was that evidence precedes verdict. After stating this, you go on to say that if a women accuses a man of rape, it is generally assumed that she is telling the truth and that the man is, in fact, a rapist. This, dear sir, is an example of verdict preceding evidence.
Secondly, since a lot connected to rape is hard to prove (i.e. let me just type the word "consensual", which is a touch thing to disprove-- even 'violent sex' can be tied to poor technique or personal preference), it is generally a crime that often ends on 'not guilty'. This is the opposite of what you were stating. Plus, sexism today generally favors men. This is a blanket statement, yes, but it still holds ground. This may add some hypocrisy to my words, but that just helps me match you!
One more point on this subject: males get raped, too. You can't isolate it like that. That separation in and of itself supports that sexism and definition by sex are active today.

On to the anime: Yeah, Lulu's an ass. Yeah, he acted "violently." Technically, though, he did not beat C.C. While an emotional outburst may not equate to a planned or regular beating, it isn't an accident. An accident is "Oh, I tripped and fell no you" and not "oh, I got upset and swung at you" so... I guess that's what I had to say.
I'll probably remember more in a few moments but this should cover me for the long haul (or at least for this week.)

My C2 does not deserve such a foul beating.

Wat's this about police and law and stuff? The sad fact of the mattter is, Lelouch is the law where my poor C2 is concerned... and that's just too bad. But I'll relinquish her to Lulu once he gets either castrated or lobotomized. You know, for the emotional outbreaks, along with the paramount stuffiness of that icky suit of his. I don't want her to go to Charles, though, either.

And what happened to that dog in the zero mask from way back when? You can be sure a character of his importance is plotting behind the scenes right now.

I do this because I find it fun, don't take me too seriously. I am the guy who cheered for the Empire in Star Wars, and Charles is really coming up quick as the real showman of the series. Calawain provides enough support for Lulu as is, might as well take the other side otherwise I'd just be repeating what he said. Glad we can some to some sort of understanding.

However comrade never think that suicide is the answer, it never is.

first of all

Halcyon and Crusader- While it’s kind of amusing to a degree watching you guys write essays back and forth, you may want to exchange IM info or phone numbers and just go out on a date already.

Calawain added these pithy words on Jul 28 08 at 1:56 pm

@Crusader
So you pretend to be Canadian I see that is why your laws are queer and strange for many pedos do you have.

I never said I was Canadian! And statistically speaking, the US has far more cases of sexual abuse than Canada does per capita!

Down here recklessly injuring, knowingly or unknowingly, a person is considered assault as well for many counties.

Where is "down here"? Let me know so I can quickly research the laws on the books and get back to you.

As I said before, your definition of "assault" is too broad and expansive. Under your definition, a slight brush or bump against someone could be considered "assault".

Hell, hugging someone without their consent, under your broad-based definition, could be considered "assault".

Never mind about the law though your Canadian laws are to me quite alien and distasteful for you accept deserters and cowards as people seeking asylum. Let us speak no more of this.

The definition I posed was from a US Law site. If you wish, you can download a digital copy or purchase a print copy of Black's Law Dictionary (the definitive dictionary for any legal professional in the United States) from Barnes and Noble for $83.16 USD, not including shipping and handling.
See: www.blackslawdictionary.com/ for further reference.

No, for I am too poor to waste my money on such things.

You're a military man!! Let Uncle Sam pick up the tab!

You see in the US we don’t get a subsidized brothel system or travel, nevertheless your escapades in brothels have become legendary.

Only thing subsidized in Canadia is health care, and education. Sweet deal if you ask me!

Then again, most of western europe also has some form of subsidized health care system. Like the UK for example.

Even the US has "subsidized" programs, Medicaid, Medicare, SCHIP are all examples.
That's not even listing the hundreds of millions of dollars that farmers get in agricultural subsidies. Or airlines. Or automobile makers. Or alternative fuel industries.

You get the point by now.

The old prophecies tell of the doom of men when a pedo named Char met a bitch named Lalah. Sadly because you are an atheist and a heathen you have never heard of the legends.

Atheist? I prefer the term shinigami!

Your possession of a false Death Note indicates that you are also a heretic, you death note is useless for you do not know Amuro’s last name!

There is nothing that I do not know (Thank to Google, instant knowledge at the tip of my fingers!)

Also that was Quatre Raberba Winner, he was the bloke in Gundam Wing. You sir need to watch Zeta Gundam ASAP!

Truthfully, I've never been too crazy about the Gundam franchise. The only series I truly enjoyed was MS 08th Team because the battle sequences seemed much more realistic. None of this "newtype" garbage with "ace pilots" that always decimated much larger, much more experienced combat brigades with a few quick shots of a souped up Buster Rifle.

I like sci-fi space fights as much as the next guy but when someone who barely knows how to pilot a mech starts to make mincement out of his opponents by mashing a few buttons like a 10 year old playing xbox, I get turned off real quick.

The only Gundam I'm interested in watching at the moment is Gundam 00. The character designs intrigue me.

I feel the same about Macross as I do about Gundam. It's very hard for me to get into these series because of how retarded they treat the protagonist.

What I'm really trying to say is, less Gundam, more Cornelia fan-service.
