I was more taken aback by your view on rape.

The only time I mentioned “rape” was to illustrate an example in which an accusation, without proof, is sufficient enough to warrant an arrest. This is just an example of a “gender-preference” in the legal system which exists today.

My point is that Crusader seems to be an advocate of “arrest him first, and find the proof of wrongdoing later”. That’s completely contradictory to the intent and function of the US Legal System. And the only reason he supports this position is because the alleged victim is female. If a male suffered the same crime his position would be “okay we need proof first, then arrest him”. That is a prime example of gender bias.

I’m not touching the rest of the post because it’s simply far beyond the original scope of the debate, which was “Is Lelouch a woman beater or not?”

I presented both literal and legal definitions the prove conclusively Lelouch does not meet the criteria to qualify as a “woman beater”, thereby nullifying all claims to the contrary.

The keyword you have might want to look at is “unintentionally”. It’s quite clear to anyone watching the events of the episode that the injury sustained by C2 via Lelouch swinging his arm out (possibly to push or shove her out of his way) was completely accidental as he clearly did not intend to cause her harm or injury.

Now, if anyone else wants to debate me on any of these facts, make sure you have verifiable definitions, evidence and proper context (i.e. looking at the entire episode, not just cherry-picking which parts conveniently fit your pre-existing prejudices). Objectivity, not Subjectivity, is what wins debates, Lads.

I know I’m a bit late catching the boat here, but… figured I’d toss my two cents in.
Funny thing, my issue isn’t with your view on the show. I was more taken aback by your view on rape.
First off, it contradicted what you said about law in general, which was that evidence precedes verdict. After stating this, you go on to say that if a women accuses a man of rape, it is generally assumed that she is telling the truth and that the man is, in fact, a rapist. This, dear sir, is an example of verdict preceding evidence.
Secondly, since a lot connected to rape is hard to prove (i.e. let me just type the word “consensual”, which is a touch thing to disprove– even ‘violent sex’ can be tied to poor technique or personal preference), it is generally a crime that often ends on ‘not guilty’. This is the opposite of what you were stating. Plus, sexism today generally favors men. This is a blanket statement, yes, but it still holds ground. This may add some hypocrisy to my words, but that just helps me match you!
One more point on this subject: males get raped, too. You can’t isolate it like that. That separation in and of itself supports that sexism and definition by sex are active today.

On to the anime: Yeah, Lulu’s an ass. Yeah, he acted “violently.” Technically, though, he did not beat C.C. While an emotional outburst may not equate to a planned or regular beating, it isn’t an accident. Truthfully, I’ve never been too crazy about the Gundam franchise. The only series I truly enjoyed was MS 08th Team because the battle sequences seemed much more realistic. None of this “newtype” garbage with “ace pilots” that always decimated much larger, much more experienced combat brigades with a few quick shots of a souped up Buster Rifle.

I like sci-fi space fights as much as the next guy but when someone who barely knows how to pilot a mech starts to make mincement out of his opponents by mashing a few buttons like a 10 year old playing xbox, I get turned off real quick.

The only Gundam I’m interested in watching at the moment is Gundam 00. The character designs intrigue me.

I feel the same about Macross as I do about Gundam. It’s very hard for me to get into these series because of how retarded they treat the protagonist.
