Just watched the ep, loved the scenery shots. At some points I couldn't quite figure out if they were drawn or not.

@Sleeping: Really? From what I have read of the manga, it seems that the anime is not as good as the manga, but it's always unfair to compare the two mediums due to their level of arbitrary emotion and the requirement to make things clear and explicit. I think it should get more interesting, as we go on.

@Myssa: Arr, really? Hmm, I do not know since I usually do not want to read the manga for any show, lest it spoils my viewing experience.

I recall reading from Garten's post on this episode that Gouta's personality suffered a change in the adaptation (much like there seems to be a lack of sunflower imagery whenever Sora uses magic) from the manga.

@Impz: That's just what I was thinking, but it just seems a bit too much like a mediocre plot/background-story. I hope it's not anything like that and actually more interesting.

@totali: I actually think that Gouta is a responsible person who finds the use of magic just way too easy and convenient. He considers it as a power that is way too powerful for him to handle. With his lack of real power, he is perhaps envious and finds his magic potential too weak for other people's expectations.

@Scoro: Well, me too. I think despite the many criticisms of image plagiarism (A very legal point), I do like how they go about it. Let's hope that this carries on a bit.

@Sleepingpanda: If anything, it might have been the attempt to use a forbidden magic to resurrect his mother. Well, at least an attempt that failed almost immediately. As he has to inherit the magic gene from his parents, it is likely that his mother is a magic user. So, it must been some childhood incident that caused him huge trauma.

I maybe rambling a bit, but it could be that magic had some effect on his family. Maybe a lost relative (mother?) hence the awkward relationship with his father.
