Thank you so much for the review, I dont' have the access to rwa so I'm force to wait on the fansub.

This is the one series that I've been waiting for since I first learn about it.

Anyway to fill out some info on what I know which might help you know about the series and backgroud.

The anime is actually based on a very popular light-novel series of the same name written by famous Yoshiki Tanaka who also wrote Legend of Galactic Heros, Heroic Legend of Arslan, Titanica, etc. There are eight books published with Cover art and in-page illustration done by Narumi Kakinouchi, who also handles the manga adaption and is know for her prior work as creator and artist of Vampire Pricess Miyu and Vampire Princess Yui.

From what I heard from other forum, the anime adaption decide to go the route with all new script, which leads to the seemly unnecessary shopping/swim scene.

In both the novel and manga, story are told from Junichoro's point of view and there's an interesting dynamic in that both Ryoko and Yukiko are interested in Junichoro. On the other hand, while Junichoro himself is a very capable officer and is an elite Non-CAREER officer, he is very dense when it comes to women, his last girlfriend left him because he commented on her dieting. In Junichoro's eye Ryoko is like a spoiled kid with everything a person can possibility think of, wealth, social status, physical ability, beauty, etc. And on top of it, she now have officer privilege. As result, Ryoko is someone that he fears but at same time he feel responsible to act as barrier between her and rest of the world so that the world won't be "destroy" by her.

Because of attitude combine with his godly self-restraint, Junichoro didn't really see either of them as him potential love interest. So this leads Ryoko tends to try various thing in attempt to seduce Junichoro or at least to get some response from him. Some time these actions also becamse jealous response to Yukiko getting to cloase to Junichoro as well. Think of the saying that "boys tends to purposly annoy girls that they like" just in this series, the boy part is played by Ryoko.

Of course, the other reason for the whole shopping/swimming scene, is simply because she felt like it at time. Futher stressing the fact that she has the power to do whatever she felt like even in Police HQ while working, and nobody would even attempt to stop her due to her background.

@Rollchan: Haha, I have to say that it's hardly kurenai animation standards to be honest. I still am rather skeptical at whether it will be good or not. It's pretty good for a first episode.

@Panther: haha, why do you sound like me? I have been complaining that there is almost nothing for me to watch for the summer season. Sigh.

@Usagijen: Hahaha, you novel addict. You always read so much novels and manga. I will just keep and take a look at it. I honestly am not sure whether it will turn out great since it's really hard to decide on the first episode. Ryoko is really hot and domineering though. The type of female lead I absolutely adore.

hurray for sexy brainy Ryoko! She kicks some serious butt ;)
Love the antics of Ryoko and Junichirou too~
If they follow the novel/manga closely, this is gonna be great. Too bad it's only slated for 13 eps, though.

Ahha, a review of one of the shows I expect the most this season. Thanks.

Definitely on my watchlist, not many to catch in summer anyway and I might even drop a few that I do.
