Ultraviolet 044 – Boob shot, flashback, boob shot, rinse and repeat

Oh, look, naked girl!
Technically, I should not even do any review on this first episode since I did not finish it. You do know how some readers (like me when I go on other blogs) totally hate those high handed elitists who dismissed a show after one single episode. I have turned into them. I only managed to hold out to 8:47 on the timer before I tapped out in surrender. It’s not for me.
The major problem I faced on watching this series is that they had way too much fanservice that is explicitly random. The worst thing is that the fanservice is not even that attractive. It is really how the title speaks. It is a few bare boob shots (*no nipples showing* since it is on Animax), then a completely inconsequential flashback before we have another shot of the main protagonist’s naked body, and it’s repeating this sequence.
If I am supposed to feel interested about the plot (or the lack of it), I am not. The Music OP and ED are Engrish in general, but it’s worth a listen. All in all, I was so bored stiff I stopped watching. Can someone who watches it with a positive review make a comment on whether the show improved after 8-9 minutes? I could not hold any longer with such a mediocre piece of art.
P/s: Adun seems to agree with me.

I don’t remember when shit became art. Such productions ARE shit. Deal with it, most of modern anime are. It’s only that this one was just extraordinarily blatant about it.
Not totally surprising, given that this was based off the American movie of the same name. That was a piece of shit as well.
@Coaxen: This show is indeed shitsuck, but to say most modern anime are so? I vote on you keep trying.
@Coaxen: Well, I do not want to go into the modern vs old anime argument, because it is a very old and completely futile argument. Nonetheless, when anime is bad, it does not have to be modern or old school. Nuff said.
@Benne: I actually know about that atrocious attempt @ work. Oh well.
@LDC: agreed, my friend ^_^
be more confident in your anime judgments, bud; you’ve had quite enough practice
@Helen: I do, but I am not a good troll @_@. That said, I am just shocked at this series.
Here’s a little trivia about Ultraviolet:
The director of the original film, Kurt Wimmer, wanted the film to be an expanded take on his previous film, Equilibrium. He wanted to bring out the concept of Gun Kata, a pseudo-martial arts, that was heavily referenced in Equilibrium. Unfortunately, gratuitous use of CGI coupled with gaping plot holes, left Ultraviolet so… radiated. [/pun]
I’m not a fan of gratuitous nudity when unnecessary, so consider me a non-viewer.
Arr, TP, thanks for the little tidbits you gave about it. It’s a huge pity I have zero interest in this series. Similar to you, I hate gratuitous nudity unless very necessary for story plot (like a rape scene/savage shit), so ya. I could care less about whatever Wimmer. He simply provided a bummer.
[...] does not have gratuitous fanservice like Ultraviolet 044. Yes, I get pretty vindictive when I watch bad anime, and I actually become rather grouchy that I wasted my time on such [...]
Well, I didn’t like it.It didn’t capture me.
I’m not male so I don’t enjoy misplaced nudity scenes.I don’t like it when the wiewer is served with this from the very begining , I think I’ll drop it.
