“When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will finally know peace.” -Jimi
We got the expected combat and tactics episode this week, and it was sure a doozy with some high quality action scenes. They also managed to throw in a few more overall story revelations with some geass background, but not enough for us to really figure anything out. And Lelouch finally got his keikaku doori in place after the past few failures, although with one significant exception.

One of the primary guesses in the community as to whom the double was turned out to be right on the money. But yeah, the voice used for the fake zero was a very feminine version, its funny when you compare it to how he speaks as Zero. It was amusing to see Rolo being irritated at her inability to show the assholish side of Lelouch.

You knew that as soon as this scene was played out that things were not going to end well for the eunuchs. The fact that the conversation they had with Zero later on was being recorded is an old storytelling trick but was used fairly effectively here to give Lelouch a way out of the trap. Although here, when they said they had a “perfect puppet” for Odysseus I had images of pedobear in my head, scary shit.

One second please….RAGE AHHHHHHHH SUZAKU GET YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM HER…ok I’m done. The lack of Kallen in this episode was irritating; I think they are just doing this to fuck with me. Get her back already Lelouch so she can look at you with rabu-rabu eyes.

Brilliant camera angles as always Sunrise. This week it was time for C.C. fanservice, and guys don’t worry I have those “other” shots of her on the couch later. Anyways, the battles were pretty well done, it was good to see some extended action sequences even if there weren’t any exciting 1-on-1 duels. It was more rewarding then watching all the NPCs get wiped out in one hadron cannon shot.

Once again, this girl is always crying. And Xing Ke is once again serving as a source of pedobear lulz, willing to give up his life for his precious loli who just wants to run into his big arms. I do like his GAR-mode voice though, man points right there.

Lelouch, looking faaaaaabulous as always in his new mech based off of Gawain. That ringing sound is the sound of hundreds of cash registers in Akiba going off for the new mecha design. Still, at least it looks better than the Shen Hu and most of the other mechs, it’s much sleeker and thin looking. The tech wars component was present again but at least it was in more moderation than last week babble wise.

I’m sure Crusader will have something to say about this, but for me it was good to see a proper Lelouch keikaku doori, accompanied by his personal victory music in the background. If you haven’t had the chance to check them out both the Geass OSTs are quite good and I recommend a listen.

Ahhhh plot revelations that aren’t followed through on. Well I can sure speculate, that’s my job. Seeing as how they showed flashes of Lelouch and Marianne in Anya’s mind, and considering how she reacted when looking at pictures of him a couple of weeks ago it’s possible Anya knows Lelouch from way back when. It’s actually a really interesting plotline because it reveals that Anya is not just some throwaway subordinate of Suzaku like Gino is (who is just irritating bishounen fluff) and is instead a possibly important part of the story. But it’s hard to tell with Anya because she’s so emotionless. Regardless, I’m looking forward to what her story is, and how she is connected to geass (since she reacted to C.C.).

Spurting blood in my 5PM Sunday night timeslot Code Geass? That’s what I’m talking about. Well we all knew the eunuchs were going to die this episode, and Xing Ke got to do it by sword, which is certainly his favorite way of extermination.

Orange-kun! And that fat guy from last season who’s always sweating about something. Looks like Orange-kun is going to get some finishing touches on his anti-C.C. and Lelouch powers, whatever they may be. Not much detail was given to us here.

LOVE POWER! Shirley makes a reappearance doing something other than watching news reports on a really small TV with the rest of them (and her boobs are hanging out). I like how Shirley was talking about being in love and Lelouch immediately thought of Nunally. Such blatant siscon, and I would be turned off from it if it wasn’t so lulzworthy. I just can’t help but laugh at that and how he made a statement on the power of the heart. Oh dear, the writing never ceases to amaze me.

Oh god when you think of this as Sayoko kissing Shirley it seems really, really hot. Obviously this is going to cause some misunderstandings and a shitstorm for Lelouch when he gets back. Seeing as how next week’s episode is a school life episode called “Love Attack!” you know it’s going to come to a head.

Must….focus….on….story…..revelations. Ah crap now I have to replay the scene over again, I missed it. Glorious C.C. more than makes up for the lack of Kallen with this shot and the one below.

So is your delicious ass. This cult thing was pretty new, and is revealed to be the true reason why Lelouch went to China, seeking a way to get an advantage over the Emperor and V.V. Thing is that V.V. is currently in charge of said cult, having taken over after C.C.

I think Sayoko neglected to mention that what she did with Shirley qualifies as “something urgent.” Sayoko may be an awesome maid and informant, but a people person she is not. And Shirley looks really sad for some reason, that expression looks kind of odd.

Gah transfer students, /facepalm. For the love of god…

I like the “oh shit” faces on both of them.

Why do all of the non-Japanese males that surround Lelouch seem so…gay? I think Mr. Fabulous just attracts them all to him. Poor Lelouch is pretty boned (figuratively of course) as his whole Ashford house is going to come crashing down on him next week. I just hope they are leaving enough time for all of the story parts to actually get tied up and finished by the end of this season because they said they do not intend to make a third.
Next Episode:

Gino and Anya join the student council at Ashford, and Millay starts up another one of her campus-wide games, and said event involves some sort of funny looking hat. Also notice the Cornelia look-alike in one of the above shots, not going to speculate on what that is.

Love power saves the day AGAIN. I think we all know what this show is really about.
totali added these pithy words on Jun 22 08 at 2:44 pmThe Cornelia look-alike is a new Ashford student (currently unrelated) to the BK/Rounds. She’s up on the office CG site.
Really, really pissed off that Sunrise didn’t follow through on the Kallen rescue. So agonizing watching Suzaku screw over Lelouch time and time again. I can only hope Sunrise sets up a lovely NICE BOAT ending where Suzaku gets his just desserts for being such a flaming asshat.
Other than that, love the new mech, always appreciate CC Fanservice and Shirley fanservice (that one came out of nowhere!).
Looking foward to the Academy episode as they always produce a nice change of pace from the action drama of the conflict episodes. A sidedish of humor if you will.
MORE OPEN PLOT DEVELOPMENTS. Though I’m glad they are giving Anya a bigger role to play, I can’t help but scratch my head and think “WTF Does this have to do with anything?”.
As usual, Sunrise doesn’t disappoint and leaves you wanting more at the end.
Bloody Bastards…

Wrong, the hair color and other bits don’t match, so it’s definitely not that other character, who will also show up. This is Cornelia. Even if Omni didn’t get that either, I think a closer look is needed.

Love conquers all my friend, it will be an ending where everyone lives happily ever after!
@Halcyon/XXX
I know who you are talking about but I really don’t think it’s the same person. CG has given us so many red herrings in their episode previews (think all the Lelouch x Kallen “kisses” that weren’t, and the yaoi fodder) that it’s hard to believe anything from them. I use them to predict the general events of what’s happening (i.e. school episode, action episode, talky episode, etc.) But beyond that you have to be careful.
I have no idea what Anya has to do with anything, the more I think about it the more my speculation doesn’t even jive with what happened. They left it way too open ended (as usual) to just get us to talk about it but throw us a twist in the end. Frankly that’s pretty good writing because everyone can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.

Seriously, is there anything bishie about him??? -_-’ As a bishie fangirl, I’m offended! What the hell is he doing in Ashford? Isn’t he like… old?
Also… I officially hate Suzaku now! It’s one thing that he betray Lelouch blah blah blah. But… with friends like him, who needs enemies? What beef he has on Karen (apart from trying to kill him - hey, they are in a war after all)??? *cries*
Well, I can’t say if the next episode is something to look forward to. Looksie like more Ashford crap.

AMEN BROTHER, AMEN!!
blissmo added these pithy words on Jun 22 08 at 11:01 pmreally Diethard getting ganged on by the women of ootbk had me rolling too bad Karen was not there. Shirley’s examples on the “power of love” bit was funny too waking up early, making scarves, jumping off a water fall screaming your loves name…i could almost imagine she really did the last one
Karen getting captured was bad enough but the idea that the pudding Earl finally got his hands on Lancelot’s main rival is even worst to make a long story short now that the earl has Gurren he can study it and make improvements on Lancelot i just hope Laksharta put up a security system on the Gurren so that they would not get the information they need easily
lastly i have this nagging feeling that Anya might change sides not just because of the name of her Knf but also because she might have a deeper history with Lulu well as long the harem gets bigger its fine by me
Onizuka added these pithy words on Jun 22 08 at 11:16 pmThat shot of Shirley gave me instant flashbacks to the first season when Lelouch had to Geass her. The power of The Kiss returns memories? Probably not, but I can hope… I can hope.
Randor added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 6:43 amWhere’s Crusader to talk about the possible reappearance of Cornelia? I thought he loved that character.
Kaioshin Sama added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 12:34 pmYeah like Kaioshin said, where’s Crusader’s Angry Drunken Rant? I just love how he blogs outside the box.
Heretic added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 2:45 pm@Biankita
Well I’m nothing close to a bishounen expert, but he fits my non-expert definition. Regardless he’s irritating. Supposedly he’s younger than Lelouch but it doesn’t look like it.
@Blissmo
Good to see another member of the Kallen Fanboy club.
@Onizuka
ITS THE POWER OF LOVE. Diethard’s politics pales in comparison to it’s awesomeness! Or something. I dunno what they are gonna do with the Gurren, the Brittanian’s don’t seem to have problems getting more and more technology with their vast research funds.
It would be awesome if Anya had some dark secret that turned her into someone emotionless and she like wakes up to it or something and changes sides. I’m quite intrigued.
@Randor
I have no idea what the memory return trigger is, if there is one. C.C. kissed Lelouch in episode one of season 2 to restore his memories, but they had a contract and she went into his head to break it. Not sure if it works like that normally.
@Kaioshin/Heretic
Crusader had to work some rediculously long shift yesterday. He sacrificed his Sunday and Geass watching for our security.
Calawain added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 3:08 pmTo begin with, Lelouch’s shot at the knightmare is pretty cool, and so was the knightmare. This episode was overall a good one… the most intruiging is Anya’s story, that will reveal something interesting about geass.
Later, Xing-Ke really looked like a girl when he killed the eunuchs with the sword, but the last scene with Lelouch was good. Then again, wasn’t he running out of time or something?
When Shirley talks about love… well, that was funny, they could have left out Lulu’s part.
I agree with what you say about Mr. fabulous…lol.. he is wierd, I so want him to lose in a battle, i mean really lose and make some face like Leoulch’s in the last shot. His happy-go-lucky face is annoying and irritating, almost like Suzaku’s ‘patriotic’ face.
And lastly, what’s with all the fan service, I don’t remember it being like this in the first season…
emmi added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 4:55 pmI was suppressing laughter for the last picture of Lelouch in the preview. He looks very Broadway. Maybe he will land a part as one of the gay guys from The Producers who say “Quick, back into the closet!”
Christina added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 6:57 pmit was not the power of love that save the day, for there is a greater power… the power of siscon!!!… no wait… maybe it was the power of lolicon!!!… now i am confuse… maybe the pwoer of lolisiscon?…
EvilDevil added these pithy words on Jun 23 08 at 10:13 pmhey guys, just got off the phone from sunrise, they said they’re planning to kill off Karen.
lulz
TheMoo added these pithy words on Jun 24 08 at 12:06 amSo I may be the only person that thinks Xing-ke should have given Lelouch a heart-felt thank you, made him the godfather of any future children, and then shot him in the head without a further word?
