@Calawain: I enjoyed most of the random chapters that were focused on a specific side character. The only characters I don't really like (or dislike) are probably Saki and Mikado. Sure they're pretty to look at but they don't really have anything interesting of their personalities. Haruna is okay for me sometimes but she is indeed pretty dull.

@Halcyon: I understand your pain. The recycled bits were a bit unnecessary and they could have done more with the episode. If they're going to do Haruna centered episodes, they should at least adapt from her better chapters. This episode was decent for an anime original episode, but you're right about it being pretty forgettable.

I find it shocking that they can still recycle the same situations 12 episodes in.

How many times is Rito going to be slapped for accidentally groping Haruna?
The only thing I really found amusing about this episodes were the obstacles the women came up against in their race. Also, the principal's reaction to the gargantuan swimming pool coming up out of the ground.

It seems Haruna got the most screen time in this episode, apparently to make up for the lack of screen time in the last 2 episodes.

All in all, IMO, this was yet another forgettable entry into a painfully subpar series.

I actually found this one of the funnier episodes this show has had. I found myself laughing at several spots throughout the competition, which is an improvement over many of the episodes this season. I was surprised they were able to do an anime original episode that didn't suck.

<em>"I think the biggest thing I like about the TLR manga was the attention they put on their side characters and their interaction with everyone in the series to bring dimension to every character and not just the main ones."</em>

I'm on the fence about this, on one side I didn't like all of the side characters so I glossed over some of the stupid chapters. However, some of them are really awesome (Yami and Yui) so it's hard to say which I prefer. At least they haven't spent gobs of time on Haruna, who is one of the most boring and cliche haremettes I've ever seen in both her anime and manga forms.
