Thanks for the info. I can understand how certain sounds or names won't translate perfectly between languages. What I think is a shame is that the animation studio or whoever is responsible on the writing side doesn't take the time to research the language properly, uses a bunch of names they think sound cool, and then butcher them.

Errr, once again there is no way Kallen is going to be captured and brainwashed. The most fundamental reason is that it kills the romance conflict subplot. The tension between C.C. and Kallen (as small as it is, it's mostly implied) is something that is present in almost every good story and is present in every single mecha story ever. It would also invalidate so much of the backstory involving Kallen, and many other reasons not worth mentioning. Plus, Sunrise knows people would rage if that happened and they are really good at pandering so don't count on it. And I've seen the Newtype spoilers for up to episode 13 and nothing like that is in there. Calm down -_-

Their compatibility is what scares me. That fireside chat seemed way too foreshadowing. I hate Suzaku with a passion, and would cry rivers if they had Kallen hooking up with him. Though, a stint because of being Geass'd by the emperor could have potential.

Lelouch: Kallen! I've realized that I can't go on without y-- waitwut... RAAAAAGEEEE

When Season One ended, I actually saw Kallen and Suzaku hooking up to some degree as likely, literally for a lack of better options. I’d figured every britanian citizen stuck outside a military enclave when the SAR ceremony went off was dead, the rebellion had collapsed, and that they were about to get ringside seats to the Britanian Empire doing a historical re-enactment of the First Mithridatic War, with the population of the Japanese islands showing up as the greeks. Which would have made both Suzaku’s and Kallen’s existing goals pretty much obsolete, due to a sudden decline in Japanese people of all relevant classes (educated professionals for the SAR and reckless patriotic types for the Black Knights). They were both going to need to brainstorm a “Plan B”, they were both right there, and they were both trying to do the same thing. So they might as well have thrown their lot in together.

Lo and behold the Britianians actually had a set policy for regions that pull stunts like that (“Punishment Zone”), which for all its “You’re about to learn the difference between being second-class citizens and being sub-humans” connotations, didn’t involve mass crucifixions. So Suzaku’s job got *harder*, but he already knew it wasn’t going to be easy and was going to come down to perseverance, so he kept at it. And Lelouch was knocked back to a point he *needed* his erstwhile minions, so Kallen could make a credible play to acquiring him as ‘pet genius’ of the “Liberating Japan? *Now* it’s a priority, sis-con. Or maybe I could just leave you where you are…” sort.

I still find Kallen and Suzaku to be more logically allies than Kallen and Lelouch and Suzaku and Charles are, though.

...Seriously? I had a crazy theory after watching the episode, but if the spoiler's true, it might not be so crazy. Basically, Lelouch opening up and showing that he cares about Kallen in some way screwed her over. It's a rule of anime or something. Anyways, next episode, I think Lelouch will beat the Chinese Federation, but not before Kallen can fall into the hands of Schneizel. The Britannian reinforcements will escape, and Schneizel will bring Kallen back to the Emperor. The Emperor will use his Geass to change Kallen's memories, making her think that she's been a follower of Britannia all along. It's a believable thing, seeing as she's a halfie. Of course, in the process, the Emperor learns that Lelouch is back and of all the plans he told Kallen.. Nooooo.

If that actually happens, even though it might be a bit of a stretch... damn. I don't know what I'd think. I will say, though, that if there's any KallenxSuzaku in this show, I'm going to personally go and destroy Sunrise HQ. Believe it. :'(

There are several different reasons. When a show first comes out the official romanizations for names haven't been shown. So you can read カレン as Karen, Karren, Kalen, Kallen, etc. Eventually Sunrise came out and said it was "Kallen," even though I've never seen anyone who spelled it like that. Different names have different reasons for the funny translation, their English is far from perfect.

@EX-Keine

That would be a neat trick, now that I think of it I'm pretty sure Sayoko is involved in this since he revealed himself to her and she wasn't around in episode 10. I've done a ton of "just as planned" screenshots, I have to spice things up =)

@Shin

Crusader is always a-hatin', he can't help himself.

@Coaxen

Uh, I really doubt that, she has zero reason to betray her family, country and friends.

@KrimzonStriker

I know what you are talking about, but using the leakage of one scientific team's data as evidence that India is about to betray them is a weak leg to stand on. We really don't know enough about India at this point in the story.

@Jack

Unfortunately the Black Knights have like 3-4 good people in the entire organization against all the world can throw at them. They are huge underdogs in all this. Guerrillas have a tough time competing against established empires.

Damn, good point.

I'm prepared to be heartbroken, but it's looking like this military adventure on the newly radically expanded Black Knights' behalf is destined for failure. For about the reasons you'd expect to boot.

1) Sovereign nation-states don't have to take that kind of crap.

2) Faking a half-decent mecha combat arm via insane micro-managing demigods is one thing, but you just can't fake half-decent support crews in a week. Sucks to run out of gas, Kallen. Bet you're all regretting thinking that transfering Tamaki to the motor pool meant he'd stop shooting you all in the foot. Teeth may be big and shiny, but 'tail' has to be more than an exhibitionist indian chick. Badum-bum.

@Kaioshin
You would do well to not play it as a shooter, weapons are nice, but it is crippled so you have to sneak around. You take on the Role of Solid/Old Snake, not the Masterchief. You have to pick your battles in MGS4 you cannot run and gun.

@Shin after seeing your handy work and your envy of my good MGS4 fortunes i can forgive...However DON"T FAIL ME AGAIN KAGUYA.

Uhhmm, not to pull a dampener on your review, but just wanted to point out something on Lelouch's lame-excuse concerning a possible betrayal from India, which came in the form of the Shen Hu arriving and if you will recall the general confusion concerning it when Larkshata was the one who built the Shen Hu but still ended up in C.F hands and her conclusion that the High King of India must have handed it over to the Eunuch's. So yes, while I agree that it was mostly about getting Kallen back, there was some logic concerning his excuse about India's betrayal considering that they just played a double-game here in terms of mech supplying and the like >_>

Well... some friend of mine accidentally told me a spoiler a while ago. I thought "oh crap, that would suck, it's not going to happen".

But now it seems probable that... Kallen will betray Lulu and will work with the enemy :/
Ergo, the Awesome-Knights will most likely fail to rescue her. And even if they succeed, what a shame it's going to be when she'll say "A cup of tea helped me to understand this better: Bugger off, you blokes are a bunch of wankers! Now I'm going to be all British and stuff!"

Ok, this is my blind guess as to who that doppleganger Lelouch is... it's probably Sayoko dressed up in his uniform and put on some purple colored eye contacts....? That would be my closest possibility, except that she followed all of the million Zeros on that iceberg on the way to China....
Kaguya pulling a Chikane? Bitch please~, lolz....
How come either you or Crusader didn't put that screenshot at the 7:11 mark where you see a closeup of Zero's face as he's saying "Just as planned"?
That Kallen-sip is pretty funny, as she took a look at Lelouch and C.C. walking to the elevator together and the look on her face says that she wants Lelouch all to herself to ride... and she looks all laid back and relaxed as she and her Guren are taken hostage....
