Yeah, indr0008, I'm liking Kurenai the best this season too. That's why I'm a little concerned about the possibility of this episode signaling the end of the slice-of-life part of the show - I sure hope it doesn't lean towards action/drama because its action and drama suck. Watching shinkurou stand around getting beat up, then bring out his weird arm thing to stand around and not get beat up has been super lame. And everytime it cuts to a shot of the kohouins kneeling in kimonos talking about their inner family politics I just die of boredom. Then it cuts to Murasaki being adorable, Tamaki being mischevious, yuuno being desperately earnest or ginko being jealous and I'm magically brought back to life. Why is it only 13 epsisodes? NOOOOOOO

@shokkeru: indeed, the show does not provide us with good animation, but Kurenai is definitely the best show of the season, even better than Geass (to me at least)

@tzhuge: I haven't heard of it before, but you could be on to something since at least to me, Yuuno is a bit old fashioned in a sense. Either way I think the connotations are the same.

@Lyi: That could be another possibility. I doubt the writers would just put that in for no apparent reason so it must have some kind of meaning that the viewers would understand.

@Calawain: I suppose the character is a bit overdone and they probably could have done something else, but nonetheless I think the rest of the story should do okay at least. I am sort of expecting a great ending so hopefully they won't ruin it or anything. The animation quality did decline a bit from the normal this episode... more so than it has already in my opinion, but I was never hooked on Kure-nai for the animation quality (even though it does still bother me a little).

To be honest I'm a bit worried about this plot. They are making the evil son way too cliche for my tastes, the cackling, plotting, disrespectful offspring is kind of an overdone character. The other problematic thing about the episode was the noticeable drop in animation quality during parts of it, they really skimped on it whenever characters weren't shown up close.

However, the shrine visit was a good send-off to the end of the slice of life aspect of this show, and I really liked the final scene. Despite having doubts about whether or not Murasaki is a Kuhoin or not, he wants to protect her because she's important to him. I think it was a big decision point that affirmed his drive, he doesn't care what her name is, she's precious to him.

Hope this one gets a happy ending~

@tzhuge: That use to be the case during pre-modern Japan. I can't really see today's prostitutes going to the trouble (not to mention they'd really stick out like a sore thumb), but there may be a niche market for that sort of thing...

I thought Yuuno was jumping to conclusions involving Tamaki cosplaying for male pleasure, but I guess we'll never know :P.

Can't remember what they're called exactly, but aren't there prostitutes with kimonos? Kimonos tied in the front instead of in the back (like geisha) or whatever.
