I think the reason that Rollo wasn't hit by it was because Lelouch didn't actually give a command - he just sorta talked to him and made promises. Lulu's Geass only works when he commands somebody, I am pretty sure...

In addition, Is rolo truly an orphan? I mean it looks like he has the same beautiful eyes as Lelouch, is it possible that they really are siblings and the emperor been using his illegimate son as his personal assasin? Is anyone else wondering if Lelouch's sister is still alive? I don't think she has been seen in the anime, except in flashbacks by Lelouch, where is she? Who is holding her? Is she being harmed? Did she ever gain back her sight? I mean what happens if Lelouch is going through so much, to try to save his sister, only to find that she been killed like his mother. the way the show goes, it can be a possible twist of the story, that Rolo ends up truly replacing Lelouch's sister, if she's dead and Lelouch ends up caring for him. Also, what is Suzaku's agenda? I mean we all know that Lelouch is going through any crazy way to destroy the empire by force, however Suzaku is a different story, he's more of an enigma, I don't think he stands for justice because than he would be doing something like Lelouch to fight for the freedom for his people, rather than becoming the puppet or dog of the British emperor. However the saying does ring true that you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, so maybe he is trying to find another way to get things done by breaking things from within, it's just so hard to tell with him. In season one, I honestly didn't think he was a bad person, but than he fell far too quickly for that pink haired royal girl (sorry, I forgot her name) and went crazy, ended up betraying his friend and turning him over to the emperor for brainwashing. How do you even forgive someone for that? I'm sorry for all those Suzaku fans but I truly feel that he either deserves to die or feel that same pain that Lelouch had been burdened with, his whole life. He needs to do something interesting instead of playing the fool. I have to agree with the blogger's words that he is douchebag, and he's acting like a complete idiot, and I lost respect for his character, I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid, I feel sorry for Lelouch, he has to face both Rollo, the british empire spying on him, and now has to reunite with his ex-bestfriend who literally stabbed him in the back or would the better terms be, practically shot him and gave him, for the lack of a better term, as a present to his enemies. Seriously though, where is this season going? I want to hear what everyone else thinks.On a last note, wouldn't be a twist that Lelouch's trickery of Rolo, ends up hurting him, if it turns out that Rolo is related to him in some way and might be the only way to save his sister? Could the series do the escaflowne twist and make Rolo, actually be some messed up male twin of Lelouch's sister? Does anyone know the color of Lelouch's sister's eyes? I was curious if that amethyst violet colored eyes is his family's trademark or the common color of the eyes of individuals, supposedly violet is the color of royalty too, so if it's a genetic trait, the color of his eyes might be the hint of Rolo's parentage. I just hope that Lelouch doesn't make the same mistakes as he does with season one, he has more at stake now, and his decisions can make or break his comrades. I feel that Lelouch grown up from the first season and is immature at some times as well in this season. He grown up in the sense that he has learned to trust his comrades and work with them, in season one, it seems that he was only relying on himself and didn't really consider the black knights as his comrades, he thought of them more as his pawns. His immature side is shown in his constant need for revenge and tricks, he doesn't have the physical strength to match his brains, so he relies on tricks too much and it ends up, hurting him in the end. He needs to find other ways to use his power, because revenge did not lead him to win in the last season, and he needs to get his act together before he hurts more people that he cared about like the girl, whose brain is really messed up by both Lelouch's geass and the emperor's geass when it manipulated the whole class. On a lighter note, if Lelouch wins the war, what is going to happen after? How would the left-over hate and discontentment dissolve? Will Lelouch become the new emperor or will everyone be considered equal? Will he go off a campaign to kill everyone that wronged him? Will his sister even be alive at the end, does she know that her brother was zero? Why was Lelouch's mother killed in the first place? I'm not sure if the reason behind the assassination of Lelouch's mother was ever explained in the last season, all I know is she was wrongfully murdered in front of his sister, yet I still don't know the reason behind it and sometimes I wonder if the thing that Lelouch needs the most right now, may be closure on everything that happened from the betrayal when he was young with his mother and sister to present. Where does Lelouch truly think that his form of rebellion will lead him? After all, he failed once already, is he ready to fail again or would he sacrifice anything, not to fail? Also, will Lelouch be taking revenge on Suzaku? I mean, I don't think that Suzaku is immune to the geass, so he could use his geass on him and tell him to kill himself, unless Suzaku is immune to it for some reason or way too head strong, so he has to do the violent way. In the long run, Suzaku is physically stronger than Lelouch, so a physical battle is out of the question and a battle of wits can only go so far. So what will it come down to, Geass vs. Suzaku's will. Who knows? :p

The only thing that really bothers me about the second season is, where is everyone getting the power of the geass from? I honestly thought that C.C only had the power to give it to a regular human and now it seems that lelouch's enemies seems to have taken it's power for themselves. Is the geass truly the power of a God? Is that what the emperor was talking about when it was talking to suzaku about the power of Gods? In addition, does anyone else think that this show has some dark themes? Everytime, when I feel that Lelouch is a great leader, it does something really dark and tricky that makes me think that he might be going crazy from his use of geass. Is it possible thgat Lelouch has developed some feelings for Rolo and is hiding it under the facade of revenge for his sister? Technically, Rolo is as much a victim as he was by the British empire, at least Lelouch has some loving memories left of his mother and sister but Rolo has nothing. I definitely feel sorry for him, couldn't Lelouch just adopt him into his family, it's obvious he's been a puppet his whole life and he didn't erase Lelouch memories and replace himself with his sister, technically he was following the orders of the emperor, so he shouldn't be harmed for that. Is anyone else wondering if Lelouch's sister is still alive? I don't think she has been seen, except in flashbacks by Lelouch, where is she? Who is holding her? Is she being harmed? It's only a matter of time, Sunrise always likes to include characters that lose their marbles.

@Kenshin/Shirukii/Caraniel

Well they haven't quite established as to how much you need to use it for it to become permanent, and you can try to explain it in a power levels way. Lelouch has an extremely strong power so maybe that's why it went permanent faster. Also, from a plot perspective it's harder to come up with a way for the Emperor or Rollo's geass to be on permanently and have everything make some sort of sense. The whole system is a bit out there, so I can't fault them for smaller inconsistencies like this, although it won't keep me from pointing them out along with everyone else.

@Caraniel

Eureka Geass! Well, not really but it did bring back memories of that show. And for now I'm going to hesitantly buy the "order required" argument for now and just try not to fret about the details, heh.

Ah I enjoyed this episode - it was so much fun.

Clumsy C.C., Snowboarding Knightmare, Fanboy Tamaki climaxing over Zero, Guilford worshiping a decorative plate, Lelouch competely messing with Rollo's mind & Suzaku arriving back at Ashford still in Emo-Jesus mode. Really looking forward to ep5 and how that plays out!

I also think that Lelouch's geass didnt affect Rollo because he did not issue a direct order - thats one of the limitations of Lelouch's geass, he has to give an explicit order. However I am also curious as to why Rollo's geass hasnt become permanent since he has had it for so long. Granted it would be competely messed up if he was walking about in a permanent bubble, stopping everyones concept of time that came anywhere near him - I dont think his fragile psyche would last too long in that state. But who cares about these little plot-holes, Code Geass is definately all about the entertainment value and I am entertained! :D

Ah I enjoyed this episode – it was so much fun.

Clumsy C.C., Snowboarding Knightmare, Fanboy Tamaki climaxing over Zero, Guilford worshiping a decorative plate, Lelouch competely messing with Rollo’s mind & Suzaku arriving back at Ashford still in Emo-Jesus mode. Really looking forward to ep5 and how that plays out!

I also think that Lelouch’s geass didnt affect Rollo because he did not issue a direct order – thats one of the limitations of Lelouch’s geass, he has to give an explicit order. However I am also curious as to why Rollo’s geass hasnt become permanent since he has had it for so long.
Another inconsistency I just noticed, why isn't Rollo's geass perma yet? He's obviously overused it, and I thought all geass start to act on their own when that happens.

Albeit that it wouldn't make a lick of sense for his geass to be permanently activated, but still...another hole in the swiss cheese of continuity.

Yeah, it does look like Rollo's only purpose in life is to complete the mission. Hence, even if turning in Lelouch could possibly prove to be a chance to receive more glory and whatnot, he chooses C.C., his assignment.

But damn, it's going to be fun seeing how this will turn out. Rollo must be going nuts (and, hell, he wasn't that sane to begin with) with C.C. right in front of him. Lulu's move was borderline perfect. He secures an emotionally traumatized pawn with quite the favorable geass, keeps his phony identity in place and has yet to geass the kid himself.

Can't wait for Rollo to go bonkers.

@Nagato

I am keenly aware of any and all things concerning Kallen and C.C., the latter especially since she's had so little screentime so far =/ And the plate was just freaking hilarious because Guilford is a silly man so it sprang right out at me.

@ichibanluckycat

Well it's certainly going to be interesting, although I could do without Suzaku in any form. Keeping his identity at school this season is going to be a lot harder than in season one, he's dragging around a mentally unstable Rollo who knows his secret and doesn't have C.C. with him to cover. Plus Suzaku already suspects him.

@Gravmech/Son Gohan

I dunno, that doesn't really do it for me. The fact is Rollo shouldn't have let him turn around because he just had to give an order and it was over.

@Myu

Well Rollo was really confident he could kill Lelouch regardless (I doubt he's ever failed to kill someone before), his primary mission was C.C. anyways, Lelouch was secondary. And for him, it's all about the mission and orders, rather than what would be bad for the rebellion.

He's probably saving the geass for when Rollo figures out he's being fucked with or goes off the deep end, hah.

Did anyone else feel that all-work-and-no-play emotionless assassin Rollo was too quick in agreeing to spare Lulu in exchange for C.C.? Even if his official mission is C.C., Zero is the key aspect of the rebellion, take him out and everything goes downhill for Elevens from there. I was wondering how they were going to work this particular situation out, but it seems that the almighty "I'll show you a different future" solution was inevitable. Meh.

Well, at least Lulu still seems to have his one chance of geass'ing Rollo. Not that he needs it, mind you. He screwed with Rollo's head using traditional methods so bad, I'd be surprised if the guy could even form sentences anymore, especially what with Suzaku radiating Jesus/Justice waves around him.

Seriously, Lulu's manipulations are just the best form of entertainment.

I think the Geass didn't work on Rollo simply because Lelouch wasn't issuing any order. Either that or Rollo just averted his eyes.

I don't think it was a plot hole at all, it's just that Lelouch never game an order while facing Rollo.

And I lulz at the "Zero is Happiness" from the Eunuch General.(I watch the Eclipse Subs)
