Wow, I never thought I'll ever be able to come across a sane, non-homophobic, good and objective review of Junjou Romantica. Thanks a ton for this.

@ Nagato: The subs will come, they will! Ganbatte, ne?

@ Setsuna-san: Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

@ Usagijen: I thought the BGM was a great touch, and it made the otherwise slightly sleazy sex scene into something that is a lot more romantic than it seems. And it seems that Japanese culture is comparable to American culture (at least in anime form) in terms of liberal-ness, huh?

To be honest, Junjou Romantica isn't the top pick for me either, but since the other animes I'm watching are all being blogged by other bloggers, I'll settle for an anime that is reasonably well done and which caters to readers whose tastes are usually neglected by the bulk of this blog. :P

@ Rita: I do so love Sakurai's voice. Probably only Suzumura Kenichi's voice is more yummy sounding in my books. But I didn't like the voice for Usami. Way too deep for the character, IMO.

@ Anne: I really don't mind the sex. :D Now, I'm not a fan of most yaoi titles because of the sheer emo-ness and the totally unfathomable way the characters behave, as well as the illogical storyline, not because of the sex. Personally, I think that the presence of sex does not necessarily mean that the plot is not good; but without a good plot and believable characters, even the best sex in the world wouldn't be able to save the show.

But yeah, in the manga the sex is rather excessive. You would think they pop Viagra like candy.

I hope eventually they cut out about 75% of Romanatica's sex scenes since they really aren't needed. But I'm not sure how fangirls would react, depends on how they put the chapters together later though. Eventually they get more settled and just go day to day with the same stuff. This scene in ep. 2 was better then the first one. Can't wait for Nowaki x Hiro-san! :D

Misaki's narration really helps with the flow of the series. Reminds me of Honey and Clover (but I think it's coz Sakurai voices both Misaki and Takemoto. :D)

I found the love making scene romantic as well, unlike the really steamy one in the manga O_O While part of my serious self is saying "how could j00 have s*x as early as this stage in the relationship?!", I had to rid myself of those thoughts and consider this as pure fiction lol (similar to most smut mangas for that matter).

That said, I might just continue watching this for Nowaki x Hiroki... or not. Too much shows this season and I don't feel like prioritizing JR x__x
