@kana: LOL, conspiracy theories time!

@TinyRedLeaf: lol, i do not think the ISD cares too much about a random student like me anyway. I think that information control in Singapore has been blanketed by the use of a license. It's done smartly in which people are worried to break the out of bound markers. Nonetheless, bookstores are aplenty in Singapore, just nothing that will result in huge controversy that will directly affect the governance and stability of the government.

That, I do not think, is bad. It's up to anyone's interpretation though.

"In my undergraduate studies, I have been very interested in politics and the use of information. In one of my research papers, I discuss on the ban of the podcast during the Singapore General Elections..."

Nanyang Technological University, School of Communications, I presume? We've got your ID number and the ISD is coming for you even as I type, mweheheh.

Seriously though, I'm glad to find someone blogging Toshokan Sensou. Given the lack of subs at the moment, a blog that explains what happened and who said what is very helpful. At the very least, I now know what the respective factions are called.

I was originally attracted to this show by its premise. The only other show that tried something similar was R.O.D, which had been fun to watch, but ultimately disappointed me because it didn't take its concept seriously. So, I'm glad that Toshokan Sensou is taking the other direction, in the usual police-procedural style that Production I.G excels at.

Out of the handful of new shows I'm watching this spring season, Toshokan Sensou has easily become my favourite. Keep up the good work on the blog!

p/s: Regarding information control in Singapore, what you've researched sounds very solid in theory. On a more prosaic level however, the government doesn't even need to do much to "control" information anymore. Very simply, it's very tough for publishers to survive in Singapore, due to weak market demand for "information", relative to other developed countries such as the UK or Japan, where you can easily find a bookstore on every street corner. Personally, I think the fundamental problem is that most Singaporeans don't even like to read. We just want to be entertained.

@impz

okay, i first thought the same. But since this happened in her past, (considering her clothes) I would say she was a student back then) - when I was younger everything looked bigger to me. Second, she was kneeling.

It's just a guess, second hint is the refreshing drink - it's called "prince" :D

@Briar: Hahahaha, it's not an occupation disease. It's just that I do need to clarify some of the seemingly ridiculous things in this anime. In addition, I really enjoy the antics between Iku and Dojo. They are so made yet not so made for each other. Ho ho ho, I like a series when it has a very serious topic, but doesn't take itself too seriously sometimes. Makes it more pallable to watch.

@Nagato: we are fellow lovers.

@Rieu: Ya, it's all me. BUT EVERYONE should convert to loving this too.

@Reslez: Well, the whole thing about indoctrination or those who believe in the knowledge that having information control is controlling the society is believing in a half truth. Of course, controlling information is one thing, but humans have a natural desire to find out more. Look at it in China's perspective. They have the great firewall of china, but yet they continue to have increasing amounts of dissidents simply because of the abundance of information.

When there are problems in the country/nation, the restriction of information is not a blanket cure. People will try to find out.

@Jen: see, Nagato. She provides the cute, fangirl love. I provide the *cough cough* rational view.

@Cherubium: ya, but DFC is good.

@Kana: nope, not sure who is going to do it. That said, I think he is too short to be her hero. I mean, the hero looks really big and tall!

@totali: otaku gets stabby, HUH???? Great meister super idoru Totali is cryptic.

The fallacy is to believe that under a dictatorial government you can be free inside.... The greatest mistake is to imagine that the human being is an autonomous individual. The secret freedom which you can supposedly enjoy under a despotic government is nonsense, because your thoughts are never entirely your own. Philosophers, writers, artists, even scientists, not only need encouragement and an audience, they need constant stimulation from other people.

Sorry Impz...unlike you, I like women...not men.

Also, just for the record, I never stated this was the best first episode of the season. That's all Impz.

I watched it, and I enjoyed it, though not as much as I expected. I don't know why. It might be because of the thick black outline of the characters, like they were directly translated from paper onto screen. It might be that I didn't like either the OP or the ED. It might even be because of the crappy version I'm watching.

On the other hand, the antics of the characters are crazily fun. I really enjoy the way they interact and bicker. And Dojo's demonic red eyes are so funny.

PS: Impz, the first part of your thoughts is what I would call "profession-illness". :)
