There is almost no chance of the internet bringing about change as it currently stands, quite the opposite in fact. The internet would first have to change itself before it could even think about bringing about societal change for the better. As it stands the internet is the kind of place where you can explain your point of view to people a thousand times over and hit them in the face with cold hard facts and they will still go on believing a lie....or just whoever is louder and more trendy/flashy with their thoughts. In that sense it's no different then Joe-Billy Bob Redneck Hardline Conservative sitting at home watching Fox News.

On the internet people tend to communicate with memes and a good discussion that generates new ideas is something I consider a godsend. In real life however you can easily sit at a table and have a meaningful conversation with somebody because you can cut through the bull you get on the internet and better establish a report. The best way to bring about change right now is the old fashioned way. Get people to gather for a seminar and generate discussion. For the internet to bring about change people are going to have to start behaving more like they would in real life when they are on it. We can't afford to lose sight of what really matters just because we now have a buffer between us.

To further drive home this point that technology is not the sole gateway to change, let's use Gundam 00 again (yeah I know....). The Meister's in their early mission relied on technology to try and change the world, to the point where they lost sight of why they desired such change in the first place, turned into a hive mind that was beholden to a falliable computer, and ended up destroying and making things worse instead. Since the beginning the series has been depicting something from the perspective of a rebirth of their initial drive to make the world a more peaceful place. Once the characters started reigniting their own motivations and brought things closer to the heart along with their new found power, only then did they start to get somewhere, albeit that it is now arguably too late for the time being due to their intial mistake.

In short the argument is the time old one of technology being useful for progress, but that we should never become beholden to it or let it take our focus off of that which really matters lest we make matters worse. In that sense I think we aren't doing the best job we can with the internet. It's creators invisioned it as the next step in communication and I believe more than a few of them feel it should be torn down and we should try again since it's just become one big mess of MIScommunication and running jokes. Curiously enough that seems to be what a certain anime series is hinting at in it's own context. The idea is right, the execution not so much.

Yes build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across, then blow it up from under him to cast him and his troops to deep chasm below! :)

Lastly I am sober now, so I can thank you and remember doing it. Just in time to write about my precious Noe...

all hail the 101st! <strike>hey, century div took bitche, didn't they? they were the sons of bitche for that!</strike>

Lastly remember that you might have trouble destroying those people closest to you, but I doubt you will give two shits for that stranger whose name you can’t remember

ahhhh, remember, good man,... Opportunities multiply as they are seized. Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across... afterall, It is best to win without fighting (-- sun tzu)

:D hehe... you sober yet? the photos are nastily hilarious... decepticons in an almost travolta-like fashion and megatron with OP... geeez... you must really love the politics around you, don't you? :P

anyway, congratulations on your "screaming" milestone!

@Setsuna-san
Indeed the anti otaku juntas have control over most families and they are notoriously hard to over throw even after you move out... ;)

@Calawain
Your goggles they do nothing! Clearly you have not been BROKEN by Kana report to Minami-ke immediately for re-indoctrination into Impz's Army.

Still I was hoping someone would have commented on the Beatles by now but I guess vowels is much more interesting that Megatron...

I'm afraid starting an electore with my family is hardly possible because of the very clear guidelines: of age means everything. It is the clear line of power and control. I get bossed around by my parents, my younger siblings get pushed around by me, and such is the order in the universe.

I am also curious to how much weirder the pictures can get.
