It’s another episode of Gundam 00 again so time to break out the helm of sarcasm, the sword of truth, armor of contempt, and the aegis of logic. Be warned lovers of CB, fans of Sunrise this post is riddled with bias so consider yourselves for warned since there were a few of you who were immune to the concept of black humor, since it seems only to be the province of hard bitten cynics and mud blood soldiers, not glorious high minded idealist master race that make up the rank and file of rabid Sunrise supporters. Again I am very biased if the title for this post some how escaped you…As for the rest of you wonderful blokes with a sense of humor I confide in you that CB does indeed mean Communist Being because they want to bring communism to the whole world.

Well it seems that Sunrise’s introduction of the Thrones has done much reduce the relevance of the Big Three. While there are those who would like to believe that the Trinity Siblings are going to inject some much needed oomph into the series, I still have my apprehensions given that this is going to be a trite cycle of Thrones pwn all, Gundams pwn all, and the rest of the world can just pick their noses in their utter irrelevance. Since Eifman is dead what little hope there was for the rest of the world to achieve parity has died with the old man. It also seems that it will be the AEU, HRL, and the Union who are going to drop like flies while the Meisters and Thrones lose nobody until the last few episodes. Its one thing to have stronger antagonists like the Thrones who I find tolerable and at times glorious, and quite another to in one stroke sideline all the major powers just for more Gundam on Gundam mecha sechs action. It was a given that as the heir to Stellar, Nena was going to take a liking to one of the “goodie goodie” meisters, but the bitch is just as equally tasteless for choosing Setsuna as Stellar was for choosing Shinn.

I don’t buy into the bullshit that the Thrones gained complete tactical and strategic surprise because the Big Three did after all spread out so many detectors that even a mouse could not have farted without them knowing. As for a communications jam to this day armies still run wired communications where ever possible with wireless only being used by units on the move. I rue the lack of artillery being called down to stall the Thrones since by all rights if any unit should have wired comms it’s the artillery. Also where were the forward observers for the artillery and the scout sniper observation teams? Since the Big Three need forward observers and scout snipers to throw down pinpoint barrages what the heck happened to them?! Alas it all fell apart within mere seconds because the Thrones are super and red particles are special enough to not only jam comms, but evade every single tracking method in the desert only! If only the Union air traffic control was as good in a desert as a base they would have been fine, too bad this plot hole occurred. Surprise my ass it was a Sunrise Over-powered Gundam Intervention!
How I lament the fall of the Mighty 8th! They were even using boom and zoom tactics and wedge formations, but still they can’t even make a dent. The that idiot Howard Mason suddenly turns Jap and Banzai charges, why?! Well at least with this more CB centric turn I can simply bash these commie bastards like the arrogant fuckers that they are.

Comrade Urusai Nena’s stealth field while a glorious spectacle was patently magical girl given how bright and colorful it was, but it does help to remind us that Nena as the only girl Gundam pilot is in desperate in need of a magical item to go with her magical familiar Haro and her magical change! Comrade Lunatic Michael is my new hero he’s not only totally broken but he’d be willing to tap Comrade Bitch Tieria’s ass if he were in fact a woman, who knows maybe Michael might get his wish… It also helps that Michael is a budding sis-con though he must really get rid of that stupid knife and bring a gun instead though kudos for drooling while Nena does a magical change. Well at least Comrade Lunatic Michael is a homo-homo-side character and sis-con in one broken body, since he’s not that great of pilot since like Setsuna relies too much on his Gundam rather than skills. The only reason why Mason died was because Mason was inflicted with “the Jap” charging in going banzai declaring the virtue of the Flag over Gundam. Also it is most disheartening to see that Lousie is only destined for a mere accident rather than ending up as red paste. Couple of points I found while watching these.
1) I actually like the fact that there are more factions being introduced here (namely the Illuminati-wannabes, the Thrones, and whoever their overlords are). It is at least some attempt at political realism, as there are always more players out there that pop up out of nowhere. It also makes it fun to watch because there’s enough plot twists to keep you guessing
2) However that doesn’t mean that the Illuminati-wannabes aren’t hilariously cliche’d. I mean if Nena’s stealth GN particles weren’t NGE enough you have the Steele-like observer types. I guess they felt the need for a seedy, secretive, all-knowing and all-powerful type organization around. It’s good though that there is conflict within CB and not everything is hunky dory happy war enders.
3) I really can’t make fun of Setsuna and his reaction to Nena. The guy grew up as a Muslim in a warzone, shot his parents, and fought as a guerilla for the rest of his life. He has absolutely no idea how to interact with women, and he already has problems with personal space. So for some red-haired freckled girl to come up and kiss him…I just can’t make fun of him or call him a fag for it, he really doesn’t know any better. Growing up he didn’t go to school, watch sitcoms or doramas, the guy is different from that.
4) That being said Louise’s boyfriend is a total goddamn pussy, can’t give your long-time girlfriend a kiss goodbye in public? Give me a break, you don’t have excuses like Setsuna, I don’t care that Japanese society tends to look upon kissing as kinda private, bus holy shit man, get a pair.
5) Poor Billy Goat got iced, no real loss there but the Professor was a smart guy and was figuring things out. He will be missed.

Oooh modern art representing people, mysterious and original….well not original of course. Ergo Proxy immediatly came to mind (especially with the red lights, but then again that was classical art, good one sunrise). But hell, one can not blame sunrise for recycling good story concepts. I mean, they are on a roll! Why stop now?
Overall these episodes suffer from a painful lack of Ali. Especially 16! I remember episode 15 ending with having Nena exposing her back to the man. So where did he go? Had he grown so emotionally attached to his new Agrissa that he had flee in tears in his still undamaged Uber-enact? Somehow I doubt it.
Got a theory though: Ali will capture a throne. Setsuna has managed to keep his gundam by way of emo-rage, but the throne pilots have no such connection with Ali, thus they will probably underestimate him and his mere Enact. Resulting in a whooping and Ali capturing a gundam. Obviously its too soon to have Ali fight the thrones just yet, because he will be able to beat them (as we’ll learn later). So the writers made him dissapear in episode 16. Best way to explain something, is not to explain anything at all.
Seriously, can we expect anything from Setsuna? He sneaked into a chick’s room to ask a question and leaves halfway through… That damnass

Oh man…And I was actually getting my hope up to see something funny. The first few parts of your posts were actually good, as was the assumption that the Thrones ought to have been detected when they arrived. It’s a nice little plot hole anyone who loves to bash can exploit.

I stopped watchin Gundam 00 at episode 2 so I cannot add more. Sorry Crusader, It seems all of the show you blog are not on my watch list ;_;.
As for the Thrones pwn all then Gundam pwn all theory….. you are forgetting that Graham is pretty much the Zechs of the series, overpowering superior suits in his inferior, but kickass, Flag Custom.
And theres always Serges sure to be a nagging nemesis to Setsuna.
And of course there will be power play suits that the big three powers will obtain/create. I think that Gundam 00 is a big improvement from its older counterpart Gundam Wing and that Sunrise has balanced power more and done a much better job of fleshing out the world we are watching here. God knows how old hearing “ITS A GUNDAM” is just before deathscythe or any other gundam wing suit rips apart fields of Leos/Ares whatever.
To sum up, I think Sunrise has done a good job thus far wiith the series, if you want to talk about how realistic the battles and technologies and tactics are you should not be watching gundam you should be joining the army and putting that energy to good use.
