Yotsunoha (OAV) – Pseudo-Lolis with kansai-ben are fine too!

yotsun1cover.jpg

As I was browsing through the links for Hatenkou Yuugi, I found a mysterious anime that I have not seen before. Since I am born with the curiosity of a cat, I decide to check out what it is. It turns out that it is Yotsunoha, an original anime video adapted from a PC H-game that depicts the story of four people returning to an abandoned school. They have planted a time capsule three years ago, and they have returned to take a look at what is inside that time capsule.

I did not expect anything from this as I have no background knowledge of the game, but it is always the unexpected that excites me.

A first hand look at an “amateur’s visual novel” – Hisashiburi’s project SVN

project1.jpg
I like lolis. Green haired preferably but purple haired lolis are fine too.

It is perhaps by sheer chance that I stumbled upon the blog named Hisashiburi. It is definitely a welcome change from most of the common anime blogs that I see all the time. When I mean all the time, it is the tried and tested episode summary blog like our blog (though we do expand with manga and random information). Hisashiburi, in recent times, described a little project in the early weeks of January to the present day. It is a little visual novel about how a male character, K, measures the themes of Hisa, lost memories and a forgotten town ten years ago.

Is there something you are regretting in your past? Do you have the courage to face that regret once again?

The origins of the spring onion song.

Fine, they are not the spring onion gang but a group called Loituma. Their song is called “Ieva’s polka”. I never knew they are the original singers of this strangely addictive song until now. I am sure that there are a few blur people like me who did not know this original group as well. They are the one that brought the Churuya clock.

Gundam 00 – 20: Blumenkrieg

Yay, Soma is back!

crusader-san.jpgFebruary 23, 2308 the long awaited Allied counter offensive had begun with the lifting of the Siege of Guangzhou. While factions within Celestial Being had been offering limited aid to the Allied Powers they were not yet fully under their control. While Grofaz Corner was already counting his chickens before they hatched the Allies set in motion Operation Dynamo and Double Cross. United by a common foe the Allies set aside their differences to end the Gundam Menace…

We hit our 1000th entry! A little ode to Close the world and Open the next.

tsuruyaism.jpg

After a whole week of inactivity to settle my accommodation and air tickets to Lisbon and Los Angeles, I popped into the administration only to find a very strange sight. Two days ago, we hit 1000 posts with Calawain’s entry on Mai Otome. I wanted to steal all the glory from everyone by making this post on the 1000th position, but was ninja-ed.

Sadly, life just does not seem to work that perfectly and I have to do an entry 2 days after the millennium post. Nonetheless, considering I am the oldest blogger here in THAT Anime Blog, it’s time to bring you to a journey on the first millennium of THAT Anime Blog, as we close this world and open the next.

Manga Bites: Shinseiki Evangelion – Gakuen Datenroku

evagakuencover.jpg

I wouldn’t be surprised if Shinji shoots his head and summons Eva-01…

null This was the year of ‘96. I barely had entered my teen years and the only decent stuff on public TV was Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) and animes like Tenchi Muyo and Lost Galaxy. Then, without any kind of advertizing, a new anime starts to air at Saturday at 10 am. That anime was Neon Genesis Evangelion and changed the way I was looking into anime.

From those times to the current days, there was alot of spin-offs of the main serie ranging from OAV’s like End of Evangelion to high school romance versions like Angelic Days, showing the trend that when japanese like one thing, they will milk it until it runs dry, similar to what happened to Doraemon, Pokemon and Gundam.

Now, we have the most recent “milkage” of the Evangelion branch, a manga called Shinseiki Evangelion: Gakuen Datenroku, which can be better described as “Persona 3 setting meets Evangelion cast”. Is this actually a fresh and decent adaptation of the Evangelion universe or a lame attempt of exploiting a bit more the name of Evangelion?

Saiunkoku Monogatari II Episode 37 – “目は心の鏡”

saimono37cover.jpg

After the recap episode explains Ryuuki’s history as an emperor (I make it sound like he is no longer the emperor of Saiunkoku, heh!), this episode goes back to the main story. For a short recap, Ryuuki collapsed right in front of the temple from exhaustion and the high altitudes. What will happen when Shuurei and co finally reaches the temple? What will Shun and Shusui do as well, considering that they are already inside? Who is Ruka?

The journey of Ryuuki is about to begin. It is the journey to be a true king.
