Actually, I myself know of at least 2 other Muslims who follow this blog (but they haven't posted comments as of yet), so yes, that's interesting.

@TP
Well its not like Sunrise is in some way being respectful to the Shia or the Sunni in the first place. In a religious schism there is no room for compromise, but in a political conflict there always is. It's not like Sunrise can hood wink the world by renaming states hither and tither.

Also the best cured of Gundamitis is to build some VF25 Valkyrie kits. Failing that the stupidity levels should soon prove near lethal... ;)

@Sapphire
Glad you found it amusing. Given the rich, colorful, and at times tragic use of the Mahdi tradition in history and fiction (Dune) Sunrise would have been better off using more Arabic names and drawing upon the actual myths and legends of the Middle East. First princess soundly utterly silly when compared to say the Padishah Empress of the Azadstani Empire. Instead they opted to use a political slant while sidelining the concept of an Islamic Republic. One would think that after 1979 that having a new Shah would be impossible.

@LockOffStratus
The plot hole is how uber mercenary and terrorist Ali al Serges did not behead Rachmadi over the internet to let thins slide faster to hell. After all if a war is what the man wants then that certainly would have done it. It was a golden opportunity to spark a lasting civil war. However such is this Merc of Mercs...

It would be wrong to question his preferences by his sniper skills however, the weapon looked odd and the scope subpar. A real sniper would have had a much nicer scope than that bare bone 40 USD one Lockon found at Walmart. Given that the bolt looked like one for a .22 caliber rifle while the barrel was for at least a 7.62 rifle cartridge it stands to reason that Lockon might have been using a slightly lethal BB gun rather than a weapon of war.

@Eirias
Yeah I am a full nerd nerdy hobbies and science major (straight microbiology)! If only poly sci or History paid a bit more or had more job security then I would have done it. However as it stands they reamin hobbies. If only Prussia was still around...

@IKnight
Interesting word, might try and use it sometime. Thanks.

Crusader, you're getting a BS in micro too? Awesome. Welcome to the ranks of the bio-nerds, though that may be an asteism. Are you specializing (i.e. molecular micro, etc.) or going straight micro? I would have thought for sure that you would be a poly sci or a history major, given your love for dead Prussian military tacticians, but I assumed wrong.

There are some inconsistencies and the "mandatorily" illogical dramatic scenes in which the main characters act before they think ("Hong Fu charge," yelling before shooting, etc), but I don't see a tremendous, gaping plot hole opened up because of that. Is there one I just didn't see?

I'd have to agree with the majority and say the show would have been better off using the Sunni-Shia split, or tribal things, instead of this vagueness.

At least Lockon got in some good shots, though. See, he couldn't be bi with that kind of aim; he's dead straight. lol

As a Shia Muslim, I'm quite amused by your commentary. I agree that I'd have found Gundam 00 far more interesting had they used the Sunni-Shia split rather than the reformist plot. Can we say vague?

Hmm, most of what you said here might enrage some Muslims, just as I might expect (I am trying to make play on the "just as I expected"). But I'm amazed at the depth of general knowledge and trivia you have displayed.

To note, indeed this Gundam series has been one heck of an exercise in mirroring current political landscapes while trying to stay true to the emo-angst fest of GS & GSD. I'm beginning to ditch this for Macross Frontier, were it not for my "imposed thinking that Gundam > ALL OTHERS." Kindly re-educate this fellow brainwashed fan here.
