@Claric: Really? Hahahah, i bet ryuuki will be anything that can get him closer to Shuurei. I really felt that Ryuuki has found someone that he can lament about Shuurei in Jyuusan-Hime. It is clear (sadly) that they have their own love interests, and the consoling during the fishing discussion between Jyuusan Hime and Ryuuki really impressed me. Ryuuki does trust people a bit too easily though.

That’s again for another great summary!! I loved this episode. My fav part is when Seiran kicked Tantan for making fun of Shuurei’s chest. LOL, Seiran trying to defend Shuurei’s flat chest then denying saying anything was even funnier. Seiga is a total jerk. Sa Sakujun toyed with Shuurei in the beginning but then fell in love with her toward the end. Seiga is just being a total jerk treating her like some kind of play thing. I’m disappointed in the way Shuurei handled his unwanted advances. She should have kicked him in the family jewels. All she did was just frown. She said during episode 39 with Ryuuki that she was going to be firm with guys. But she was pretty lame when Seiga tried to kiss her. Too bad Seiran wasn’t around. He would have chopped Seiga’s head off. Ryuuki was too cute defending his love of Shuurei to Jyuusan Hime. But I was wondering what Ryuuki was thinking after Jyuusan Hime said Shuurei-chan. There was the picture that popped up in his head of chibi Shuurei and chibi Jyuusan hime holding hands. Did Ryuuki imagine them as best friends or something more? I couldn’t figure that part out. LOL Ryuuki wanting to be a horse, that was just too cute. I can’t wait to see what happens. Maybe there will be some romantic stuff in the next episode. So, I’m wondering after this, “Jyuusan Hime Arc” will they finally do a Bara-hime/rose princess arc? I’m so waiting to see that animated. I want to see Shouka-sama in action against the big Riou. Do you think they will make that into a Season 3 if they get enough viewers? The way things look to me I think they may just end things up with this season with Ryuuki and Shuurei’s relationship open ended. That sucks! But at least she will be by Seiran’s side until she gets married off to someone. Yay Seiran!!!

Jyuusan Hime isn’t necessary a bastard daughter , considering man of wealth like Shuuei’s Dad can have more than 1 woman/wife. She’s the daughter of one of his wives/concubines .

Gypsy-chan: In the novel Shuurei DID want to kick Seiga in his balls but her clothes were too tight and restrictive making it hard to maneuver herself. The anime did not include that which makes her appear weaker than she was in the novel.

I laughed when Shurrie accused Serian of threatening Tantan by telling him not to notice Shurrie’s chest OR beauty (meaning Serian thinks of her as beautiful)! I love how he is so territorial over her! I will always be the Serian/Shurrie pairing. I really enjoy watching Serian and Tantan together those two are just as funny as Serian and Ensie (I want to see Ensie again)!

As for the 13th princess…I love her and am hoping for Ryuukie and her to hook up. In some ways, I kind of am starting to like her better then Shurrie (how weird is that).

I would love them to do a season three on all the side stories as well as the rose princess! They have plenty to work with on that note. But, we will see what happens.

And has anyone heard if the Englished subbed dvd’s have been picked up by another company yet? I’m so hoping it will happen soon. I bought the subtitled ones but the first disc has really weird names for all the characters. It corrects after ep 13 I think.

I adore Jyuusan-hime! It’s great to see another atypical girl in the Saimono universe. Anybody else think the prisoner Shun guy is her lover (and the other guy in the intro with her?)

In the scene where Seiran asks her if she’s “really a member of the Ran clan” (because he is suprised by her behavior, which is rather inappropriate) she says “yes” and then adds “demo honke no mono jya nai.”

This translates as “but I’m not a member of the main branch (family).” She is a member of the Ran clan, but because she didn’t grow up in the main household she was raised more freely. (If you’re curious, the kanji for “honke” are the “hon” in “nihon” and by itself the “ke” is usually pronounced “ie” as to mean house.)

The main branch would include the direct children of the eldest son of the current patriarch. This would be the section of the clan that would hold official power over the entirety of the clan itself, because of the direct blood connection. (the purest of the purebloods, if you will)

When they’re talking about the Kou clan, the word they use alot is “chokkei” which means “direct decendant.” So Shuurei is the Kou clan “chokkei hime” because she is the child of the eldest son (Shouka) of the current patriarch. I think this is also why Kurou wants Kouyuu to marry Shuurei–even though Shouka has been kicked out and Reishin is currently heading the clan, there is a possibility for power through Shuurei’s connection as the sole direct blood decendant of the main family line.

Seiga + Shuurei wouldn’t be too bad I think. LOL. Let’s see how the author will resolve the mysteries concerning Seiga…

If Jyuusan-Hime was introduced as the first female character, I would’ve liked her very much, just like Shuurei. But now, she’s a hindrance to RyuukiXShuurei, so its difficult for me to adopt to Jyuusan-Hime, even though she’s VERY likeable.

Loved the Shuurei having small breasts part.
Seiran + Tantan + Shuurei + Sarcasm = WIN.
Ryuuki - I want to be a horse. = WIN.
Seiga almost kissing Shuurei = WIN.

shurrei being flat chested has been a topic in the anime, remember when she was hired to help at kijin’s office? That comment about her not having an obvious evidence that she’s a girl cracked me up and now seiran and tan tan. Hahaha

As for subbed eps, try crunchyroll and veoh.

i heard that second season have 39 episodes. How are they going to end things with only 9 episodes to go? seemed quite impossible to me. i hope that shuurei will get married with someone in the end. The desired partner: Ryuuki! I hope it doesn’t go on to season 3! i, personally, don’t really like super duper long animes (the episode in the middle always seemed to be of different topic, but same theme. you get what i mean…?!)

I recently found this site from a previous site I was reading Saiunkoku Monogatari from, (it had more opinions then summaries, which was cool but it doesn’t tell much and some where offtopic o_O). Though here~ theres a good summary and the blogs are very effective, it gives me a better perception of the episode and in the characters general. =)

Though in your summary I didn’t understand one line : “Jyuusan Hime said he might be the third after someone from the Kou clan and one of the Ran brothers.” What does that mean? Also, I had a question in that when Shurrei was waiting in the carriage @ night why was the purpose for that? Doesn’t Seiga know that it’s Shurrei inside? As well as Shun the guy who was outside when he said Shuurei was really similar to the women he loved, how did Jyuusan hime find out about that? (near the end where Shurrei was ab. to go fee horses, Jyuusan didn’t go b.c an image appeared I her head..? O_O). Oh and there was something ambiguous to me in the last part where Seiga was going to protect the general protecting Jyuusan hime.. is tht Shuuei? ^_^ well, yes, I’m ahead with the novels + thought of some of the Saimono plots and character stuff.

Sakujun: He reads people, not even their darkest secrets is given a miss. That’s how he discerned Shuurei’s fear of falling in love, something she didn’t see it coming. It must have been thought also how many people can enchant the world with just a niko/erhu playing? You’ve got to be REALLY SPECIAL to have the whole world at your feet! So, it’s not too surprising when he saw another part of Shuurei, which is her beauty potential.

Barahime: Since Barahime is descended from the mystical Hiyou clan, I suspect Shuurei is descended from there distantly. Barahime story were told in snatches since Season 1, so be careful with the details. When the full story of Barahime comes to the fore, it may affect RyuukiXShuurei’s relationship big time :O

Jyuusan-hime: Ahh, this is interesting. According to the novels, her arranged marriage to Ryuuki is, somewhat, a facade. She’s smart enough to know her beloved brother can take care of himself. And she’s not the type to play with man’s heart, hence a reluntance to be Ryuuki’s concubine. She chose out of her own will to enter the Imperial Harem in order to protect someone she loves in the past. He’s within the palace walls. I’ll not reveal who he is, but you’ll defintely see more of him before Season 2 ends ;P

RyuukiXShuurei: The novel itself seemed not gearing towards this couple direction lately. Plus there’s a steadily growing number of JyuusanXRyuuki fans or SeiranXShuurei fans. Heck, no matter, I’m TOTALLY IN FOR RyuukiXShuurei!! Seiran, if you please, go after Jyuusan-hime, never mind about Shuuei throttling you later :O Shuurei is annoying naive now, but we must remember that she hasn’t reached her full-bloomed rose stage yet. The best is yet to come!! %D

No anime I’ve ever known ends with just 2 seasons or less than 100 episodes. I’m almost pretty sure they’ll come up with Season 3 ’cause Yukino Sai (the author of Saimono) isn’t quite finished yet. More juicy stuff are yet to wrap up and revealed to us ;P

It’s a thumb rule in story-writing and movie-scripting that every epics have different topics to talk of but what keeps them as a whole is a central theme. So, don’t hate long animes or epic movies for being difficult. In fact, I love Saimono for being long lol

i don’t know if this is true but i read in a forum, a japanese person who has read the novel said that kouyuu and shuurei were about to get married (this is supposed to be at the end of the novel already), but shuurei and ryuuki are already in love with each other and one night while walking in the garden they declare this through the bara metaphor (r: i wish i could be the person who could touch the rose, s: i wouldn’t want you to touch the rose because of the pain it will inflict on you –referring to the rose’s thorns–). then they kiss and hug, all the while reishin and shouka etc are seeing this. however they do not get married with each other though i don’t know what happened with the kouyuushurei arrangement (seems it was called off) is this really true (for those who’ve read the novel)?? i’m really confused with the ryuuki shuurei relationship now..

Although I’ve read the exact story you gave in yahoo, I’m curious as to where the reader got the story from. It seems far ahead than Volume 12 and no other resources are available on that story.

whatever the new trail is, only the author really knows.

3rd season seems feasible, so i’d bet they’d put all angles hanging until the new novel comes out.

They are dragging this story too much already. It needs movement.

The rose princess arc would most probably be animated because it defines and answers some hanging questions on other characters, however, it gives room for more questions about the main characters.

They seem to focus on a clan at a time, so, I believe the questions will be answered when the time comes.

The story needs a heave ho to make it move. Even the novels have stopped at the moment and it is getting frustrating.

And ya, there are still more for sm…… and hope fully they won’t end at just this season because i feel something BIG comming on in the story right now and we still need to settle shuurei’s marriage(ever hopeful that ryuuki will b), and who is Bara-hime(but we all know she is shuurei’s mom)we need to know who she actually is and what rank does she have in the Hyou clan, and why the big Rio came( although some of us already know why from reading the manga novel summaries or the novel itself) and if reishin will tell shuurei that he’s her uncle*that is something to look forward* and whether shuurei will figure out that ryuuki and seiran are related and seiran’s past……. and is the fact that shouka is the black wolf himself be known to shuurei at least. and what is happening to eigetsu and kouring,(i miss seeing the ensei and seiran moments)and how did shouka get shusui out and if shusui and shuuei will end up together?????

Phew………………… that was too much!!! well i think all of these things are needed to be finished to end the series of saimono. don’t you think? and i don’t think just 9 episodes will cover all of this. and did i miss any of the questions? hehe…….. so lets keep supporting saimono so they hopefully will make another season!!!

Eee, it’s true that there are many issues to wrap up before the Saimono series end. I’ll hate it if they ever try to cram all in with Season 2 ending. We musn’t forget a host of others lol, both bigger and minor characters, e.g.: Kouyuu + Ryuuren + Tantan + Seiga + Mdm Kouchou + + Heki Hakumei + Kou Kijin + the 2 Grand Perceptors + + Tei Yun Shun&wife + Eigetsu&Kourin + Sa Kokujun&Shunki + Lady Eiki + whoeverelse unmentioned.

Somebody, please help me to justify this: why do I get this feeling that Seiran and Ryuuki are not the only surviving legitimate heirs to the throne? Like as though, there’s another royal out there too but not introduced yet. It’s about time to bring in Riou Sr. to sort out this emperorship complications…

Jyuusan-Hime is not getting everyone’s green light to be Ryuuki’s consort. Assasination attempts on her are ongoing. Sheesh, it’s a curse to be an Imperial consort with everybody trying to get you killed, and ultimately tumble your all powerful but unlikeable husband :O

@SEAMaiden: that is very true…… i would like to see some epilogues. and it is true but according to the novel Ou Ki might be after the throne…. i think its ou ki…… correct me if i’m wrong. i think they’d definitely finish the story with seiga and shuuei’s trust for the emp but it would be sort of rushed because there are only 9 eps left. and no i don’t think you missed anyone. i think that sa sakujun is still living somewhere….. i’m not sure if it is true but i just had a feeling. and it is true that jyuusan-hime isn’t getting many approvals on her being ryuuki’s consort although she might be a good consort……….. i mean i’m starting to doubt about shuurei and ryuuki’s relationship!!! SHUUREI IS SOOOOOO SLOW!!! and ya i do think the author really needs a huge note books for all the plots she has right now, but she’s the author and its her story any ways. i think she MIGHT just have some interesting thing instore for us saimono fans!

@SEAMaiden: I really feel that if anything, Sakujun is perhaps used as the perfect trump card eventually when the need requires of him in the plot when Shuurei finally deals with the Hyou clan. His devious behavior, his personal love and the lack of restraint from the noble families mean that he is almost the best person to fight against the Hyou clan for Shuurei.

Shuurei does have to be very careful of him, but I can somewhat imagine it myself.

@Azn: My personal feel is that the series will definitely have a third season. I just have a feeling that they will have a bit of fillers here and there in order to wait for the novel to catch up of sorts. So, we probably have some low time before it starts. Oh well =3

Wow! That’s very plausible. If Yukino is thinking the same line as you did, then it’s no so bad for Sakujun to come back after all, although now it’s not the time. The ‘traffic jam’ of the storyline now is becoming a gridlock, what with more possible new characters coming in later.

@ SEAMaiden- yep yep…. all of this is gonna be really exciting. and sakujun DOES hav a lot of charm and good looks! He does but he’s very dark at the same time. but i think that before he did take on the form of an evil spirit and maybe while shuurei was looking for someone to help him he dissolved. but i do love the fun anime play boy type in some animes sometimes, they usually give a little spark of comedy to the whole story… and ya shuurei did get a WHOLE different view of love after her encounter with him. and i think that he was the one who pushed her to mature a little and i think thats a good thing. and i think that we need another character like this who will push shuurei to maturing more! because i’m sort of starting to get a bit irritated with shuurei’s naiiveness. i mean it was cute in the first season because it moved the story along. but now the characters are really mature men officials who are older than her, you’d wish her to act a little more mature to deal with them….

@Impz- you are so right, that does really make me want sakujun back in!!! you are very convincing…. but i’m sort of getting tired of the recap eps but i guess we’ll all have to hang in there!!!

@KaeBoo-ya i read that when i was reading the summaries of the G novels….i mean its so complex. i mean every person in saimono is always mysteriously connected to another person and some of us don’t even expect it. and if i was the author herself i’d need a huge map to keep track of the relationship, otherwise our Yukino is one amazing woman. and it stands true that it would take me at least half a month to figure out all the relationships!!! its sooo complex. also i thought that reishin’s wife Yuri-hime was older than reishin, wasn’t she. and that she married him because she was the only one that actually under stood him(personally). and that before she married reishin she was shouka’s betrothed, that she is only a few years younger than him!!! and he left his younger brothers with her so he could go and be a bandit i think…… AAAHHHH!!! so confusing i’m gonna need a day or two to sort out all this info… hehe…

I agree in that I think Sakujun character is kinda whats needed @ this time, his character sure he was deviant but he had a certain habit of kinda opening eyes to Shurrei. It was mentioned that in one of the blogs that Sakujun gave a different perspective to Shurrei on what guys can really be like.

Wow, I never thought about the other bloodlines, till you made an example. Rei Shin’s wife was orgianlyl from the royal linage… ! Ohh, wow now I want to take a glance upon how Rei Shin’s wife looks~ since she was suppose to be trained to become a warrior. [Wouldn’t hurt Shurrei to take some lessons from her -__-, no offense]Wahh~ shes Ryuuki’s aunt anf the former emperor’s sister~ O_O. I wonder y she didn’t take over, since her brother departed. Shurrei’s superior is that one guy~ (sry it’s been awhile since I seen the episode) is he truly evil and has simething against Shuurei or is does he actually have good intentions behind his actions, just doesn’t show it? lol, I kinda hope she eventually gets rid of that naive ness of hers’, it gets annoying something, when it’s so obvious. =(. Though heres another character w. an obscure character is Seiga really helping Shurrei, or not… O_o mean I do somewhat agree he shows her all the negative possibilities in a society. I keep thinking tht Anjun (was it?) can be seen as another Sakujun, i mean name resemblence. xD and looks talk about. O_O” I mean when he met her in tht peach cutting scene he made her feed him, basically. Though Anjun may have other aims 0__o” And another thing that came across my mind, it seems that in Saiunkoku, no body in there actaully has a precise, accurate, well known, and seen clearly background.. (Well maybe Shurrei)But for the other characters its just kinda mentioned. Take Shushi for one, I dunno much about her period, all tht is really known is that shes from an assassin group the same as Shouka. Hmm, lol tho it would be just fillers having to explain every1’s background, but maybe the main characters like I wouldn’t mind getting to know a little more about the 3 Kou Brothers, {Kourou, Rei Shin & Shouka) Oh, and all tht is said ab. I had a question: when does Ryuuki say he wishes that he could be a horse-when he was fishing with the 13th Princess or right at the end, when Shuurei is feeding the horses. If its right at the end, that means Shuurei actually heard him say that, and if she did than that must move things up a bit because she must understand how much Ryuuki loves her and is troubled by her absence from him.
