There are two types of characters that are parallel of each other. First, you have the main character that seems to be taking a lot of screen time. However, they can sometimes be extremely annoying, and you wish that you can really dismember every single part of their body (or maybe just the head). The second type is the side members, the anime characters that no one remembers after a season of new anime about harems, mecha and queer bacteria floating around.
However, the character that I am going to introduce is one that bores the legacy. She breaks the monotony of stereotypes in the fickle world of anime where we worship a character for a swift moment before they disappear into the world of emptiness. She is a side character that hardly appears for more than 5% of the show, but has brought about a huge fanbase with the two special phrases she used in the anime series. She is the queen of lol, Tsuruya-sama.
If you are worried about fanboy behavior, please take a step back, eat a hamster chef and then relax.
Character description

A minor character from the wildly popular “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya“, Tsuruya’s given name is unknown. She is clearly distinct with her long green hair flowing down her shoulders, an extended left canine that gave her the affectionate nickname of Fang-tan and her rather megas-strange speaking behavior.
Tsuruya is a very energetic and happy schoolgirl who is generous and kind. In the novel, she is known to be in a very wealthy family, but she can take things too far when surrounding issues made her carried away. Her ability to do huge bursts of laughter when there is something even slightly amusing makes her the most LOL-tan ever in the history of anime. She is a close friend of Mikuru, even though Tsuruya’s pranks know no bounds. That said, her laughter knows no bounds as well.
Her distinct accent

A very important component of Tsuruya’s character is the one single time period where she exhibits in one of the most fashionable meido uniforms. The whole image of the beautiful goddess going Mega-good and nyoro while speaking in that rapid-fire machine gun moonspeak is perhaps one of the highlights of the show, and the reason why T.H.A.T Anime Blog is created. Do look at the youtube video to know why that accent is so fascinating.
It is perhaps a queer thing to most people reading this. How can a character that is merely talking fast be so attractive? It is perhaps the whole package of her dynamic behavior when speaking, enthusiasm at anything to poke fun at people, her beautiful flowing hair while she speaks and the very fact that nyoro and megas (both attractive words) are used while all that is happening at the same time.
The Churuya comics

Anyone that has some knowledge of anime should really come into contact with the famous doujins of Churuya. The comic series make a joke out of “megas” and “nyoro~n”. It’s just a testament of how great Tsuruya has been in order to spawn off such a random series of 4komas that is pretty much known by most who read anime blogs for the past year.
Her LOL

Everyone knows laughter is infectious and it does not get any better with the power of our Tsuruya laughing every single time when Mikuru is in a somewhat awkward position. I remember that her ability to laugh randomly when Mikuru is saying some stupid verse created by Haruhi in the film makes me laugh so hard, I nearly fell off my chair. Her charming left canine that appears predominately when she starts laughing is particularly moe~, and this is the reason why that image of her has not escaped my mind after Haruhi Suzumiya ended for so long.
Conclusion

Tsuruya, with her energetic beauty exhibited in all of her glory is one of the side characters that cannot be easily forgotten in what was a hit in 2006. With the anticipation rising among Kyoto animation fans for the 2nd season of Haruhi Suzumiya, it’s time to wait for the goddess of nyoro and embrace her next coming!

Impz, you should NEVER have incurred the wrath of our tsundere hamster chef…
Well, hopefully with this huge fandom, they will end up making Snow Mountain Syndrome in Season 2. Thus flooding places like the sos-dan image board with billions of new Tsuruya pictures.
How gleeful!
@Usajigen: I love tsunderes. Tsun tsun mode? magnificent times!
@Irp: I cannot wait myself. More tsuruya pics are good for the human soul. Especially the humans who love the megas nyoro queen.
Yet another goddess from Suzumiya Haruhi. They should have a season called “The Goddesses of Suzumiya Haruhi”
Tsuruya intrigues me, mostly because of what occurs in the later volumes of the manga. Since the spoiler tags, yanno, DON’T WORK (or at least don’t work as advertised), I’ll just say that I’m interested in what her life is like “offscreen”, so to speak.

Tsuruya: Made of WIN.
Can’t wait till we get to see Snow Mountain Syndrome and Where Did the Cat Go? Need my Tsuruya fix.
I was at school when I was reading this. My friend saw the pictures of Tsuruya and said, “She’s so cute!” Be proud that you have made another lover of lolis.
Oh my, an Impz in fanboy mode.
Also, this just hit me, but my favorite anime girl actually has green hair too (Ren, DearS). I don’t know why I didn’t think of that until now. :3
There is no God but Tsuruya, and Churuya is her prophet.
Death to the followers of the False God Haruhi!
This is a test comment.
Soylent Green is people.
It was his sled.
The above comment by me was marked up such:
Soylent Green is <spoiler>people</spoiler>.
<spoiler>It was his sled.</spoiler>
How the heck are you getting spoiler tags to work?

Like I said in your comment, it’s working….the ony thing that I think of is by some reason you are posting in a visual mode instead of a Html enabled mode. This happens when I copy paste you:

@Nekonron: there is only one true goddess!
@Dkellis: The spoiler tags work for me too. I wonder why it does not work for you and a few others. @_@. Anyway, her life offscreen must be eating smoked cheese X_X. I wonder as well, considering how genki she is. I wonder being a rich gal makes her different.
@Mirrinus: i need my fix too, fellow brethen!
@Kyra: Amen to you, my friend. We need more tsuruya fans in this fickle world of the Animu. Without tsuruya as our guiding light, it is possible.
@Totali: a fellow possible greenomaniac? Awaken and go for your beckoning!
@Jobrill: LOL! I died laughing.
Tsuruya is tasty, you may yet convert me into a greenomaniac.
A fine tribute to the patron saint of the blog.
I’ll never join the likes you! AHHHH the green haired lolis are attacking~!!!!
I’m pretty sure that I’m in HTML-input mode, since I have to use lt; and gt; to represent the angle-brackets. To test, this should be struck out, at least unless I’m not allowed to use the <span> tag.
Firefox 2.0.0.9, if it matters. I’ve not seen the spoiler tags used a lot in the comments before, but from the examples in these comments, maybe they only work for those with actual user accounts with the blog?
To bring this back on-topic, I’ve been wondering what Tsuruya would be like if she were the star of her own anime, possibly magical girl, fighting evil with the power of Justice, Green Hair, and Smoked Cheese. Mahou Shoujo LOL-Fang-tan Tsuruya, nyoro!
Tsuruya…what can I say.
The big weirdo in the series.
I LOVE WEIRDOS LIKE HER.She’s megas funny, nyoro XD
i almost forgot impz loved green hair girls LOLx.
