>>Night wizard is based on a game or something?

It’s based on a series of TRPG setting.
(Rule book, Source book, Fan book, Replay, Light novel, Radio, Drama and etc.)

@Darklord
Yeah to a degree he isn't that assertive in the face of the Kureha or Anzelotte at times, but not always. He's no Itsuki (Rental Magica) who just lets the world walk over him.

@neko79
It's based on a magazine RPG, like the type you don't play on your computer. And while some common character archetypes are present here, I find that they are much stronger, and Renji is in a league of his own. The character's aren't emo or moeblob, and I think that separates it from others.

@Myu
Most shows have more women then men these days, I don't mind :p

@Aenlic
God I hope not.

I think Kirihito is Elis' Oji-sama. He:

1. Obviously knows her.
2. Oji-sama gave her her bracelet, so he'd know something about the jewels.
3. Well, Anzelotte looks loli too.
4. He cares for her.
5. ...he came out when Elis called for Oji-sama. :D

After watching three episodes of both Night Wizard and Rental Magica, I'm not really satisfied with either of them.

While I prefer Renji over Itsuki, the overly large amount of females in Night Wizard is unnerving. Also, the plot isn't anything we haven't witnessed before. Honestly, it's like they just give different names to the bad guys, the good guys, the weapons and take it from there. So far, the Astronomy Club reminds me of Haruhi, the Gekkou-thing looks awfully like Fuzetsu from Shana and Laalamu seems to have borrowed her cleavage from Dragonaut.
Rental Magica, though, isn't all that impressive either. The first thought I had was that it looks like an unsuccessfully modified version of Ghost Hunt. Unforgivable! Also, Itsuki is a wimp (<em>and</em> voiced by the same seiyu as Lelouch). I couldn't care less about his double personality - he's a wimp, period. Oh, and the Onmyoudou dude (that reminds me of Gin) uses cats. I mean, come on. Cats..?

Anyhow, I might continue watching both for a bit. Either that, or I'll drop them and just go re-read xkcd again.

i stopped at ep 1
Night wizard is based on a game or something?
I find ep 1 pretty random

It was a refreshing change in the beginning where the main lead was practically craving for school.
But after like the 3rd time where he screamed he wished to go to school, it had gotten abit boring.

This anime is however one that shouldn't be missed by guys i guess? Though with so many other animes full of girls of similar genre, i guessed maybe thats why most people didn't watch it. Everyone except the main guy with Mr big sword are females, being the bad people leads are females. Neko is bored.

With so many to watch this season, i never did watched ep 2. It was not particularly funny, the first ep plot wasn't very surprising, nothing that brings me wanting to watch ep2.

Welcome to the blog...

This show might indeed turn out to be one of the gems of this season that will go unnoticed by the anime community, like Kaze no Stigma was last season. Renji certainly has the potential to become a great badass male lead, though it irritates me that he lets the girls walk all over him. Kureha basically treats him like a pet. A man has to have more dignity, damn it!

I hope they put more emphasis on the action and less on those gags when the girls treat Renji like crap, otherwise I might end up dropping the show.

In any case, I will look forward to your reviews. Keep up the good work!

Yeah there are a couple of magic and swords type shows this season. I just prefer this one to say Prism Ark (storyline is too confusing, only the first episode is english subbed) and Rental Magica (characters less engaging, too much magic jargon at times, I have to read Shinsen's explanations at the end to understand half of what's going on). There might be others, but those are the only other two I've watched.

Hey, welcome to the blog. I'll be looking forward to more of your posts.

I haven't tried watching Night Wizard yet (I have enough magic-related shows to watch right now) but it looks very interesting.
