With the forgery arc over, we are now brought possibly into the next part of Shuurei’s life as she tries to fight her way back into officialdom. Faced with the pressure from other officials to disband the group of ineffective (aka reserve and unwanted) officials, Shuurei must somehow bring this group of total misfits into place. However, Shuurei is facing a challenge of the highest order, and she has no support from anyone this time round. Will she be able to motivate the group, or will she probably be stressed out by the ridiculous people in this group of misfits?

I think this will be the biggest challenge ever for poor Shuurei, since Tantan is no help anyway. Hah!

Since I have done this for the livejournal community, I would think some might need the screenshots in 704 x 396 for keeping sake. The link is here for download. I also forgot to mention that the OP is slightly changed this week. Moreover, Shusui looks just so darn hot in this.

Episode summary

saimono23-1.jpg

The water city, a stronghold of the Ran clan, was described. It was surrounded by lush greenery, with a beautiful water system within. The triplets of the Ran clan were discussing about Shuuei, and they wanted to end his folly away from the clan (and to help the weak emperor). They commented that he had no reason to serve the king and decided to bring him back. In the throne room, there was a proposal to remove all reserve officials as they had no contribution. As Shuurei was part of the group, Ryuuki stumbled as he looked at Shou Taishi who was not offering any form of help. Shou Taishi, in his mind, said that it was Ryuuki who dig his own grave.

Youshun came to Ryuuki’s rescue as he admitted that there was some truth in the statement. However, it did not mean that all these reserve officials were incompetent. He proposed to give them some time to evaluate their performance before making any decision. The official agreed to giving one month, and Youshun said it was fair as it gave them some time to proof themselves. The official also proposed for specific roles to control for critical commodities, but Youshun interrupted Ryuuki, adding that this issue would be discussed in the future.

After the meeting, Ryuuki apologized for his lack of concentration, but Youshun said that was why officials were here to support him. Youshun nevertheless taught him that he should respect all views, be it from an official or a child. Ryuuki should treat compliments with caution, and criticism as a learning process. If Ryuuki could do that, Youshun would not be angry with him as Ryuuki gasped in shock. About the specific role, Ryuuki could not tell what was wrong but Youshun told him to think carefully about the repercussions of allowing such a move. Ryuuki said that Shuurei would perserve, as Youshun said he wished that it was the case.

Kouyuu was getting agitated as he said making Shuurei a reserve official to fight against other officials. Reishin harshly rebutted that it was a short term plan and that Kouyuu and Ryuuki were digging their own grave when they did so. If Shuurei failed to survive this trial, it would be Kouyuu’s fault. Reishin then instructed Kouyuu to concentrate on the department’s work. At the investigative department, Kouki (the head) discussed Anjun talked about Suou Shin and his father, and Kouki said that they had overstayed their use as pawns. Kouki added that Shuurei was useless and meddlesome, and she would not be affected if she cared about her own business.

At the announcement panel, Shuurei said that it was merely some work adjustment and there were still many spaces in various departments. Suou Shin said she was too optimistic and Shuurei asked if Suou Shin wanted to save his father. The lazy behavior (all of them getting help from parents) of the reserve officials annoyed Shuurei as she said that they might be removed of their status. They said that it was her fault, and Shuurei angrily said that these nonchalant comments were not fitting of a work place. Shuurei continued on her tirade that their salary was paid by public funds and they should try their utmost to do something for the country.

saimono23-2.jpg

An official came in and told them that all the true royalty’s names were not in here, and asking their parents would not save them. Shuurei looked despondent over their irresponsible reactions as Suou Shin mocked her of sorts. However, he said that common sense and sympathy goes out the window in the palace but Shuurei needed to know that. An official started to beg Shuurei to save him, making the situation awkward. Ryuuki was also laughing at Shuuei as Shusui made a comment that Shuuei should not treat the palace as a brothel. Ryuuki smiled and said that Kouyuu would probably lynch him if he knew of this but Kouyuu was way too busy.

When Shuuei asked Ryuuki whether Ryuuki will be lonely if he left, Ryuuki said he would. Ryuuki then brought out some dango given by Sai Rin, and went to play a game of chess. The wager will be giving Shuuei a “break” if Shuuei won. All the reserve officials were following Shuurei now, and the official who spoke up earlier introduced himself as Seiga. Seiga was brought here by punishment, and was not worried as he would return to his duties soon. He offered his help, and Shuurei accepted. Suou Shin told her that it was foolhardy to accept help from someone who offered help out of no reason. Suou Shin said that she could not even save herself, yet want to try so hard to help others. Shuurei was extremely annoyed by his words.

Eventually, she screamed at those idle officials who are sitting down and told them to fight for their own position. They should not look to others to save themselves. It seemed that Suou Shin’s harsh words got through somehow. In the office room, Shuurei blushed when she saw porn books. Suou Shin said that it was normal behavior of men, and bet that Seiran had such books. Shuurei said it was impossible and Seiran would supplement their meager income rather than buying such books. It was perhaps Seiran’s nice treatment to Shuurei that made her oblivious to such things. She screamed at them to clean up the room. After an evening of work, they cleaned up the messy room.

As Shuurei left the room, she met Kouyuu who apologized for causing her trouble. Ryuuki also lost the chess match and allowed Shuuei to leave (he did snatch all the Dango and ate it for revenge). As Shuuei left, Seiran appeared and told Ryuuki that Shuurei and him would always support him. As Shuurei returned, the men were commenting about how cute Shuurei was. She was infuriated, but Suou Shin said that such comments were harmless and she should not try to gauge men by her standards. However, when they said that it would be better if she had a bigger cleavage, she lost it. She rushed in and told them to start working once more.

Thoughts

saimono23-3.jpg

Warning: Please help me with the three new names!

Shuurei’s shock awakening is definitely in place now. It is perhaps unlikely that she has never been exposed to such filth morally due to the kind and observant Seiran protecting her from such influences. I think that her exposure to great men (Ryuuki, Seiran, Ryuuren, Eigetsu, Ensei) have clouded her observations toward men. I mean, when she saw the porn books, her eyes just went in total shock, recoiling in pain in the sight of such immoral material. I cannot believe how she is actually able to avoid it. Her slight hesitation of saying “Probably” when Suou Shin questioned about Seiran’s porn is an excellent touch of comedy. She also thinks that Seiran is human enough to need porn!

THE INTERNET IS FOR PORN! (sorry, had to get it out there for the fun of it)

On the reserve officers, I really laughed my head off when they talked about Shuurei needing a better cleavage. Yes, you heard me right. They are saying that Shuurei has a flat chest. I died when I heard it, especially since she does not usually get such comments of her from anyone. Well, the only time that her chest has been emphasized was when she disguised as a boy and the comment was that they will not be able to tell from her body. Ouch.

In addition, I found that the throne room is perhaps a very daunting place for Ryuuki. He literally gets zero support by most people except for Youshun who gives his complete help even though it makes him lie in a rather comprising position. Nevertheless, we really see that Ryuuki really need someone like Youshun to push away the tides, particularly when he is pressed with matters that require an immediate answer. I found what Youshun said to be correct: an emperor does not have to be perfect, but he has to think well, treat compliments cautiously and have an open mind with criticism. That, to me, is the true law of governance.

The conversation between the two investigative department bishies disturbed me. It seems that there is something dark that runs deep within the department, especially when they started to talk of Suou Shin and his father as pawns that are no longer useful. As much as I want to think that they have nothing to do with the recent forging, their words are suspect. Shuurei’s interference, and their word of trying to remove them away from power makes me think that they are perhaps the mastermind behind the forging. However, with the way Saiunkoku Monogatari deals with its arc, I do not think that we might find out.

I also enjoy the little friendship between Shuuei and Ryuuki, as well as Ryuuki and Seiran. Seiran’s reassurance that they will always be around Ryuuki to give him support is one thing that will keep Ryuuki alive, and also alleviate the loneliness that bores in his heart. Shuuei is surprisingly sensitive toward Shusui, making me wonder if he has actually a thing with her. Shusui’s comment that Shuuei thinks of the palace as a brothel is just downright amusing, yet realistic when you are talking about Shuuei. I do wonder if Shuuei does have a reason to really protect Ryuuki. I do not know, but he seems like the kind of person that hardly cares for anything except friendship. I guess that is the glue for him to stay in the palace.

Anyway, what do you think is the reason why the official’s demand for specific roles to control the flow of valuable commodities was postponed? Tell me about it!

otherwise good summary

lady_kou added these pithy words on Oct 20 07 at 10:34 am

Ummm It wasn’t made obvious in the first season but Shuuei does have a thing for Shunsui ^___^”
I think we’ll learn more about it later. He also has reasons for asking time off (his older brothers (the Triplets who all go by one name Setsuna) are behind much of his current angst.

Anju and Kouki have their own sinister plans for sure :D

lady_kou added these pithy words on Oct 20 07 at 10:40 am

Actually, my impression of Kouki from the books is that he’s pretty damn awesome. We don’t know if he’s a force for good or evil yet, but everything about him so far marks him as “awesome character” in my mind. Anju is still pretty mysterious.

And yeah, the anime totally glossed over Shuuei’s giant crush on Shusui. They say that’s why he’s such a player, he’s trying to make Shusui jealous. Unfortunately all it does is lower her opinion of him. ^_^;

L-chan added these pithy words on Oct 20 07 at 11:42 am

The new characters are

Ki Kouki
Ryou Anju
Riku Seiga

BTW, Kouki is the one in charge of the investigative bureau. Anju is not a member of this bureau, he works in a different part of the government. It will probably be revealed later, so I don’t want to spoil you. (If other people reading this summary want to know, read the volume 10 summary at my blog)

charmian added these pithy words on Oct 20 07 at 5:16 pm

Oh dear! This episode is good! :D

It’s catching up with the plot in the novel. Is a good thing is Youshun gave Ryuuki some advice. Moreover, it is also good to let Shuurei go through these things, if not she will never grow up (be more mature than she is now), always being protected (by Seiran, Shuuei, Ryuuki and Kouyuu).

Nothing is perfect. As you said, “An emperor does not have to be perfect, but he has to think well.” and “I think that her exposure to great men (Ryuuki, Seiran, Ryuuren, Eigetsu, Ensei) have clouded her observations towards men.” In my opinion, both sentences are 100% true! :D

Shusui is starting to have an effect on Shuuei… Well, I think that will be a start of a good relationship.

Eigetsu… Where is he?

According to the Japanese Wikipedia, for season 2 there would be 39 episodes as well… I think the anime will have its own ending, but I hope not just yet. *hopeful*

Thanks very much for summary and screencaps! :)

Minako added these pithy words on Oct 20 07 at 6:49 pm

@Lady_Kou: It’s definitely not working for Shuuei then. I mean, going to the brothel in order to make a girl jealous? What in the world is that! That is like showing the girl you like that you have a lot of vices and enjoy them immensely. Shuuei, with his intelligence, can be really stupid here.

The triplets are actually quite interesting since they look distant, nonchalant about the emperor (I think I will be so if I live in a place so like Venice, with nothing disturbing yet) and thinks of Shuuei’s trip to the palace as “a folly”. What is it with the major families and the emperor O_O;;

Oh, thanks for the names, corrected!

@L-chan: I do not know. Kouki looks just very darn evil to me currently. I mean, he always consider Suou Shin and his father as pawns for the major plan. Yes, for some, a ruthless way to end things is the mark of a successful official in the palace, but the way he talks about them has this subtle cruelty in his words.

As I mentioned already in the comments, I think that they have something darker in store later. I wonder whether the meeting with Shuurei will be. Shuuei’s crush is logical, considering how bloody pretty Shusui can be. (look introduction link)

@Charmian: Cool, it’s good that you can somewhat affirm my summary too!

@Minako: Ya, if anything, Shuurei has a rather naive belief of the palace. As much as we wish that there is justice in the world, logic and sympathy has no place in politics. As said by the old ode, there are no permanent links, only permanent interests (did I get that right?)

Well, Shuuei looks really disturbed when Shusui made a rather condenscing comment. I swear that Shuuei might do something in the future to approach her. They will never say a short clip of the two talking, will they? I would love to see how they actually interact. The womanizer, Shuuei, can be so bad with women when he’s truly interested huh.

Shuurei will probably be slightly disillusioned at times over the incompetence and greed of men in this arc. I do hope that Tantan will provide a bit of support but I am sure that Seiran’s little trips to Tantan will help for sure. Hahahaha!

No problem, it’s good to get comments and reply :D

Impz added these pithy words on Oct 20 07 at 10:21 pm

Well the flow of commodities in the Saiunkoku setting would give power to people. It is probably a tie-in to the fake coins plot. But yes, you are probably right in that there is something more sinister coming. There has to be or it’d be an anti-climax for me.

What with the growing number of people commenting who have read the manga I feel slightly hesitant to make comments in case I get it completely wrong - silly huh?

It was actually quite amusing with the mention of how cute Shuurei was - I agree in this episode she does actually look cuter than usual. Funny though about the typical male traits Shuurei is suddenly being exposed to without Seiran around. I guess Tantan is the one leading/taking her through reality rather than protecting her for morality’s sake…. Yay for growth.

Maybe I’m being naive, but I wonder if Riku Seiga is somehow related to the Ran family or some family with army dealings (because of the wrist guard).

ling added these pithy words on Oct 21 07 at 4:41 am

Uhm…question :]

How do you watch Saiunkoku Monogatari? X___X

If I watch it in the tv…it’s english :| I’m not fond of watching anime in english… it just sounds…WRONG.

I dont know which website too :[ Even if it’s in youtube…It’s so difficult to find. Same as dailymotion :|

Well…yeah…err…thanks :))

Cherushii added these pithy words on Oct 21 07 at 8:36 am

Impz - Well, from everything I’ve seen, one thing Shuurei will learn in her dealings with Kouki and Anju is that the world is not black and white. I.e: things are not so clean cut as to be just good and evil.

And I think it’s in volume 11 that we see Shuuei’s first meeting with Shusui, and we’re already in volume 9-10, so we should see it before the anime ends! I hope.

I have been following that blog, too… the one that could be found if you click this the anime is indeed catching up with the novel but only the author really knows what she wants out of this story. Either way, the suspense and the wait are killing me.

Thanks for the episode summary, IMPZ. :)

KaeBoo added these pithy words on Oct 21 07 at 9:23 pm

Sorry for the spoiler anyway the web say that a new Gaiden coming out on 1/11/2007 and its the third series.
Looks like the Saiunkoku Monogatari is going to take forever to finnish off their tales although in the Wikipedia it was originally juz a 12 volume light novel with 2 side story.
I am a fan of Ryuki x Shuurei off course I would be turn off in what I read in the Saiunkoku Gaiden.
Why is it Sai Yukino heartlessly kills off the romance between those 2?;(

Lily added these pithy words on Oct 21 07 at 10:51 pm

@Lily

Its not really Ryuuki who wants her, its political XP again XP haha

@Impz : G Avenue hahahaha

Tantan actually mm is helpful in a way and i like this whole arc story (well as least in the novel, hopefully they dont change it too much)
This arc also lay the foundation for the shuuei story ~~
i like when every new characters turn out to be bishies~~~ hehe
and evil old ministers ruling the day XP

neko79 added these pithy words on Oct 21 07 at 10:59 pm

well how do i use the spoiler tag?
everytime i do it it don’t seem to work?
baka neko -+-

neko79 added these pithy words on Oct 21 07 at 11:00 pm

@Ling: Well, it has to be something sinister, even an uprising perhaps since Ryuuki proves to be decently unpopular. I mean, there will always be some idiot out there who thinks he can be king (aka tyrant).

It’s ok because i have not read the manga. You have the author of this entry being laughed as well. Oh wait, that is not much of a consolation, is it? I just think that the whole part of her chest was just hilarious. I guess it’s just a guy’s thing to laugh whenever breasts are mentioned. Or maybe it’s just me. Sigh.

Tantan is actually doing quite a good job to bring her into reality, yet not thrusting her away completely. It is clear that Tantan cannot care less about any stuff, but he is somewhat protecting Shuurei still. That will really help Shuurei in her future work, not to be too naive that everyone is willing to work hard. There are always a huge number of people that are not motivated, and will not care a shit on what you do. Ya, I was thinking about Seiga as well about that!

@Cherushii: hahaha, I do not answer that here. You can ask more on thatblog@gmail.com

@L-chan: Hmm, ya, that is one very important thing that she needs to learn. Everything is a spectrum, and that working hard does not mean that you will perserve. There will always be the bad guy that will succeed, and victims will always be around. Yet, the same bad guy can be doing good deeds after that. Life is not on two seperate axis.

@Lily: No problem. Hahaha, I am a ryuuren x shuurei fan but there is no hint of sorts, yes. I will be disappointed, I guess. I wonder how they will end it off though…You should know what I will think about the romance.

It might get killed off.

@KaeBoo: I WILL NEVER READ IT, SPOILERS ARE EVIL FOR IMPZ! HOHOHOHOHOH! Ok, honestly though, the author was doing very well with her weaving of the story as I have heard from novel readers that the anime adaptation is done mostly true to the novel. So ya.

@Neko79: For the spoiler tag, try reading the warning. I am sure it works. Ya, my girlfriend is saying the same thing. She prevents me from cutting and pasting, as she mentioned that it will ruin her image. I mean, what form of image does she have already, being a thin yaoi girl, HAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, the foundation for the shuuei story. I cannot wait!

Impz added these pithy words on Oct 22 07 at 3:18 am

Ummm… I’ve been lurking for quite some time. Just starting to feel brave enough to comment.

First thanks Impz for blogging SaiMono! You help me make sense of those raws!

Whose that lady in the OP with Shusui & Shouka? Looks a lot like the younger version of Eiki?

Alida added these pithy words on Oct 22 07 at 1:04 pm

Thanks for the summary, Impz. I can’t wait to see how this story develops–I think it’s going to be a good one. I expected the drama, but not the humor, so I’m glad that’s being included, after the relentless despair of the Sa arc.

Regarding comments about Shuurei’s innocence about men…if she worked in a brothel, how unaware can she be? I guess the case has been made that she is clueless when it comes to men, but it’s so hard for me to reconcile that idea with how generally smart she is.

To Alida, the white haired chick in the OP with Shouka and Shusui, I believe, is Mama Hyou or Grandma Hyou, whichever. She’s part of the reason why Shusui was so scared of Hyou Riou in Ep 5 this season–lots of history.

Kouki promises to be an intriguing character–I hope he’s thoroughly EVIL. It was fun despising Sakujun, so I wouldn’t mind having a character to vent on again. I read a kind of back story that featured Kouki when Emperor Senka was still in power and Seran was a little kid. Kouki was the one who arrested Seran and his mother. Hmmm… I wonder if that will play into the anime? It would be cool to see some kind of face off between them. As the head of the investigative branch, do you think he knows that Seien is hanging out at the court? If he doesn’t, how sharp can he be?

And speaking of Sakujun, I’ve been under the impression for some time that Shuurei has a hair fetish–Ryuuki, Sakujun, Kijn, Hyou… Guys with short hair or who wear their hair up mostly just don’t do it for our girl (Ensei, Eigetsu, Koyouu…) So now we have this Anju guy who has a ridiculous amount of flowing hair. The bishiest bishie of them all. Could Ryuuki have yet another rival? (Say it ain’t so!)

Fun, fun, fun, and thank you, Impz, for keeping us in the loop!

sakujunsghost added these pithy words on Oct 22 07 at 7:41 pm

aaaahhh, the question of rivals. ehehehe. :D Now, that’s one thing that makes this story intriguing… full of unrequited love and the struggle to win his or her loved one over.

Shuurei’s family has already received several marriage proposals for the First Daughter of the Kou House, as shown early in the series, right?

This makes me wonder how she would actually react once she finds out she has proposals that include Koyouu and Ryuuren, as speculated by Kurou.

An entangled mess of choosing between matters of the heart and his or her obligation towards the Clan, the country or position.

Nasty!

I like it! hehehe :D

KaeBoo added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 1:15 am

Yeah Kaeboo.
Saiunkoku Monogatari the tale of unrequited love and mysterious connections between everything.I wonder why she never knew of the proposal and why aren’t those guy juz pop the question to her directly like Ryuuki? Maybe they are shy:D
She seems to have like tons of obligations on her shoulder, maybe she will end up as a spinster with supernatural power since she is a daughter of barahime.:D
I saw something very parallel with her struggle in love with the challenges of modern women i.e to excel in the chosen path in a career dominated by men, fending off non-sense suitor and delaying marriage. Shuurei have all the girl-power of a modern girl!

Lily added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 2:32 am

Modern girl as Shuurei appears, it seems to me her emotional development is kinda stunted. I mean i can almost think of her now as incapable of having romantic love for a person. Sakujun tried poking her a lil jst to open her up a lil, but then….hes gone. I just wish she could really learn to love and not that family and friends bs type of way…i mean come on…

hehe sorry for my rants.
i still love this show anyhow thats why.

hello impz, i’m a newbie here in your blog site this is the first that i have gone into after looking the web for more saiunkuko. i got hooked up with the first season that i can’t hardly wait for the subs in the second season . . . thus i ended here

anyway, i love the way you have summarized each episode for us (those who can’t watch nor understand - without the aid of subs - it directly) . . . i recommended this site to more saiunkuko fans in another forum and i hope that it’s fine

i’m rooting still for ryuuki and shuurie to be together in the end, however hard the road each of them may take, i hope that it will still bring the two of ending with each other . . . “waving a banner for ryuukixshuurie love team”

sakki added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 6:23 pm

Oh this ep looks great as well! Thanks for the summaries and the pics.
^______________^

I’m looking forward to seeing more of Ran clan.

bootoye added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 7:56 pm

sakujunsghost — I think that even though Shuurie worked in a brothel, it was another thing to see men…ummm…participating in “those” kinds of activites in the political areana (correct me if I’m wrong Impz but they were looking at the porn in there right?)

I really enjoyed the comment about the hair fettish…so that’s all Serian needs to do to seal the deal hu?

As for her romantic feelings, I’m sure they are there…she is just not aware because she has been inlove with the same man all her life, and thats why no one else can capture her…Although I do have to give Ryuukie kudos for the effort and he does good till he pushes too hard.

heather added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 8:08 pm

@Alida: HAHAHAHA, you are going to be cursed…and …Just kidding! Glad that you are finally commenting and I feel bad that I took quite a while to reply. My feeling is that it is the okaa-san of the Hyou clan, since it is definitely not Eiki or something. I don’t think Eiki looks like that, or at least I hope not. Shusui is hot though, huh. *awwwww*

@Sakujunsghost: I believe that she is really unaware since she is usually at the background calculating the accounts. I mean, no flirty men will dare to come even close to her when Kochou and Seiran are nearby to really kill them if they even dare to try. Remember, SEIRAN is always around.

Kouki does not feel that he is completely evil though. He feels simply like a politican, the kind of bastard that is not evil or good, but only looking forward to ermm….doign something for himself, I guess. As the head of the investigative branch, I am very sure that he has spies everywhere, and it looks likely that he already planted spies near Shuurei. Maybe, the metal bracelet guy is the one.

Hair fetish O_O;;; One thing is that men then do not like short hair too X_X;;;

@Kaeboo and Lily: Ya, she does have a lot of love rivals, considering how oblivious and silly she is when it comes to love. I mean, the emperor, talents of the country and every single merchant seems to somehow love her. My feeling is that she will go like “what the $#^#$^@$#^@#%@#$!@#$!@$!@$%12″…and then rage out like a balloon.

In a way, that is a discussion that has been revolving and poping out quite a bit. It seems that Saimono often uses the historical perspective of things, and infuses modern themes of feminism into it. I like it that way

@Killerqueen: HAHAHAH, i so agree with your comment. I think that she is a bit too young currently (we tend to forget that she’s only 18, not 28). So, she still has time. I swear that most of us at 18 do not know what true love is as well, especially with her rather disturbed past of love.

@Sakki: It’s definitely a pleasure to, and I am more than delighted if your forum post brings more people to discuss with me. Yes, i am a lazy bum that sometimes take quite a bit to reply, but I always make sure I do within 2-3 days!

Ya, Ryuuki x Shuurei fans are really abundant here, even though there are a few Seiran x shuurei fans here. No ryuuren x shuurei fans though ;_;

@Bootoye: sure! I wonder what is it with the Ran clan, and all the noble clans actually. Poor ryuuki is hated so much

@Heather: yes, they are looking at porn…like a huge stack of them. As explained earlier, Seiran and Kochou are always around to make sure she is not stained by such things. So, it’s ok. Now, she has no defence, and Tantan wants her to see the real world…

Impz added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 10:33 pm

Yeah, I agree that Shuurei is pretty sheltered with regards to met, being surrounded by “perfect” gentlemen who’re sensitive to her own lack of understanding of how most men are. Tantan is really helping her see the realities in this department.

As for Shuuei’s stay in the court…yes I would think it’s mostly because he really cares for Ryuuki now and has come to see Ryuuki as a kid brother sometimes so it is hard for him to leave. But both Kouyuu and Shuuei are very loyal to their families.

aliene added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 11:00 pm

The name of the lady in the OP is Hyou Ruka, the elder Riou’s sister. It should be noted that while Riou is unaging, she isn’t, so in reality she’s like an 80-something year old hag. But in spirit form she looks young. After seeing the OP though, I seriously wonder if Eiki is her sister or something.

I also echo your opinion on Kouki, Impz. Although I guess I am a tad biased since I think Kouki is really hot. ^_^;

*still annoyed that neither he nor Anju made it into the OP even though they have a big presence in the events to come*

L-chan added these pithy words on Oct 24 07 at 11:21 am

@ L-chan. Thanks for clarifying the OP mystery lady! I heard she will be playing a bigger part soon! And you see the resemblance with the younger version of Eiki too?! The young Eiki they show in the Sa Enjun flashback anyway. I thought maybe only I was seeing things!

Alida added these pithy words on Oct 25 07 at 3:23 pm

@Aliene: Hmm, ya, tantan is actually doing a good thing so that her judgment is not under the presumption that everyone is good. Many people are easily tempted and acted on impulse unlike the great men surrounding her (which will probably make her find ryuuki and seiran SUPER ATTRACTIVE)….And in fact might even make ryuuren look like a saint now! HAH!

Hmmm, Shuuei in my opinion does not see Ryuuki as a kid brother but more of a companion that can alleviate his loneliness from within. It seems that men of great ability tends to be rather lonely since no one can share their pain. Sometimes, talent can be a curse, rather than a blessing.

@L-chan: HAHAHAHA! You sounded just like my girlfriend when that silly girl always goes “KYAA KYAA KYAA” when a cute bishie appears into the picture. I think they are still trying to modify it slowly, but they will appear for sure. :P

Ah perhaps you’re right about Shuuei…and lol Ryuuren is a special out of this world entity. He’s another species altogether :P
