When I signed up to join the military I never thought that my job would really go beyond firing weapons and cleaning miscellaneous things. Sadly the reality is that paper work takes up more of a person’s time than going to the shooting range. So my latest paper work snafu was thankfully short and if all goes well there should be no problems. Like my school forwarding the request for payment to the wrong service, or getting me confused with some other guy in some other branch that has a similar sounding name. I hope that this will conclude my latest Batte of the Admin Box, though I have a sinking feeling that this is going to happen again.
I really do apologize for falling so egregiously behind, but by some hiccup of fate I am forever doomed to suffer under the yoke of bureaucracy both civilian and military. I finally got my education stipend and now can go back to slaving away as a student again…not that I particularly look forward to it. I also finally finished by freaking paper work that I submitted in April which got kicked back to me via super fast HQ mail telling me to fill out another form, if only they would be that quick in resolving pay issues… Still there is much to be done and my unhappy fate is to be forever on some damned misadventure…
So I go back to my apartment and lo and behold while things have remained fairly in order not all is well. It seems that my computer chair finally called it quits and broke. So that needed replacing and rather than go get gouged for an inferior chair in the college town I sped off towards the outskirts of the nearest large city and went to IKEA. I went for a chair and came back with a shelf, chair, halogen light bulbs, and two bowls. My only solace is that being IKEA it was cheap. I also got curious and tried out those meatballs… I have not vomited yet so they must be half way decent.
While on my way to get a chair I was taken on a detour by my passengers to Walmart, Fry’s, and the local airport to pick up yet another passenger. I got couple of computer fans and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. At least I was not doing business with Walmart, lowest prices my foot 0.11 USD was the most I could even save on video games…
So to try and end the day I was hoping to chip away at my ice cream reserves of Ben and Jerry’s. However I was most disappointed when I discovered that my room mate had invited a series of rather depressed women into the place to vent their frustrations. Now I am not mad that they need a shrink, but I am mad that they annihilated my entire reserve of many a pint of Vermont’s finest. Now I know that ice cream is the best antidote to relieve depression in women, but a bit of common courtesy would have been nice. However nary a word was said until I opened my fridge to a frightful sight.
I finally got my Halo 3 and will now lose my entire weekend to try and finish the fight. At least school is going to be slow in ramping up so I hope to catch up I just wanted to put something up in the wee hours of the night to simply say that Impz’s reports on my death have been greatly exaggerated… With any luck I should have something more anime related posted up soon.

Personally I been in your situation. My job was to look after Transport for 1 unit. I was a 3rd SGT with too many men to account for(looking at numbers of 100+). My jobscope was described as ,look after the men, and help with the driving. But in the end, I was so desk bound by all the paper work for them. Pay issues/ License issues, Vehicular repair quotations/invoices/etc etc. In the end, I spent most of my 2 years as a clerk.
Sigh, Imagine in a war,
Officer:Wait! you can’t fire !
Soldier:Why?
Officer:Because you have not signed this few forms, blah blah blah and
*bang* Officer dies.
Soldier: Good shot, whoever that was.
Well, things cant get worse? can it ? sit tight and wait for contract to expire.

rollchan added these pithy words on Sep 28 07 at 1:07 amI hear you on the paperwork.
I probably spend about as much time filling out and filing paperwork as I do actually in surgery.
But then again the health notes are very important.
Its the stupid extra things that they come up with to have you fill out that eat up the time.
Grr paperwork.
