I was a bit disappointed that this episode turns out to be a recap as Ryuuki, Kouyuu and Shuuei discussed about the events in Sa province. That is why I am not doing a summary for this episode for now. There is little new material in this episode, but I decided to post because it seems that they have a quota to satisfy all the fangirls in this show (and I am like -_-). I mean, just look at the images that I have posted, and any Ryuuki fans will have fun squirming in joy over his expressions. I must say that when Ryuuki broke out into a song of “Let’s read it, read it, read it”, I had a real sweat drop coming down my forehead. Nevertheless, it is decently good for a summary episode of the previous arc, considering how we are all rusty.
It’s always good to have funny Ryuuki expressions anyway.
The summary episode also reminded me of my favorite scene in the previous arc. I really love the scene where one of the medical apprentice finally faced to his fears and assured the lady who was begging for anyone to save her child’s life. I always felt that it is one of the most defining moments of courage and life, and I am glad that the summary episode reminded me of that good scene.
Preview

The preview finally presents something new, with Shuurei confined to her house. The story of the next episode seems to be about some golden pig or something. I do not really get it, but at least there is something new!

You’re so lucky you’re in SaiMono too now, goshujin-sama. I must say, the golden pig depicts you perfectly.
@Boohoo: How about I kick your a**, baka boohoo? It depicts you much better, piglet!
Oh my God thank you so much for doing this. I’m a big fan of Ryuuki… HAHHAHA.. He look so cute Hehehe. I can’t wait for the next episode.
All the animes that I’ve been following every week is getting intense and I can hardly wait to see the next episode.
All the people in this anime specially the guys are all hot hahhaa…
Thanks for the summary. By the way, that’s a golden raccoon not a pig.
*Laughs at ThirteenSugars and Impz. You two are so cute.*
YAY lots of pictures of Ryuuki! Thank you!
I was really happy to get last months issue of Newtype since it had a nice section about SaiMo in it.
Hmm I think krystal is right, it does look more like a Tanuki.
@IloveYuki: It’s pretty much expected with the love of Ryuuki by many Saimono fans that they have to set this up for the readers. I doubt anyone will complain except me who wants to have new material up for viewing =/
@Krystal: Oh, a raccoon? @_@ ok. Pigs and raccoons, what’s the difference anyway
. Just kidding
@DJ: Ya, it’s all the NEW and fresh pictures that has nothing to do with a recap. I am often loath to do any recap summaries, so I decided to have an entry on merely this. Well, at least there are some random screenshots.
KYAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! kawaii ryuuki~~~ soo cute~~~especially beaming ryuuki~~~
thanks for posting those preview pics ^_____^ they’re really cute and you’re right, us ryuuki fangirls are really mad for those cute kiddie ryuuki!! lub you for doing this, especially after ryuuki’s long absence on the scene
*sighes*
ryuuki don’t get to come out much anymore it seems, because everything is at Sa Province.. and my frens and i knew sakujun isn’t dead yet…but sumhow i get the feeling he is heading that way…
ryuuki is real cute but sometimes he tends to be lil childish and like a spoiled brat but that dun decrease my love for him however…i wish i cud see more of ryuuki’s child images more XD cos ryuuki is super cute at that time XD
@Impz well I for one am happy with random screenshots of Ryuuki.
What I am not happy about is the situation with Geneon.
If this company really does go under, then I may not be getting the rest of my region 1’s where this wonderful show is concerned. *Seriously wants to cry*
I was so disappointed: i mean, why another review episode?! sight I hope we get back to the real story this week … anyway, thanks again for your great summaries ^^
That’s me again! longing for the new arc i found a site where there are summaries of the novels. If anyone is interested, here’s the link: http://yuzutea.net/log/tag/saiunkoku
On behalf of the dearly beloved and
almost departedImpz (j/k, knocks on wood), I’ll be replying to some of the comments for now. The guy is sick, and if I may say so myself, both body and mind. He is so sick that he fainted and had to be carried to his bed. I told him that I’ve never fainted in my entire life yet the ill Impzie still had the audacity to tell me it’s because the stupid does not get sick or faint. The nerve!Anyway, here we go. ^^
~libra_86930~ (kyaaas along) I absolutely agree with everything you said.
~cagalliyamato~ Yes, it’s true that we haven’t seen much of Ryuuki lately. Hopefully, it’ll change on the new story arc. And yes, his kawaii little boy images are darn cupcake cute! As for Sakujun, unless you or one of your friends are novel/manga readers of SaiMono, there’s no way to confirm whether he’s still alive.
~DJ~ WHAAAAAA! What’s going on with Geneon?! Btw, episode 6-subbed- is about to be released. Hope that’ll cheer you up at least. ^^
~Bella~ It seems to be a new arc but we don’t know yet whether it gets back to the main story…which is probably my Seiran (cough-cough) I mean, I’m not sure. ^^
Thanks for keeping up with this. I can’t find anyone else still doing summaries, there are hardly any fansubs out so far, I don’t think they even licensed the second season and from the Geneon/ADV troubles I wonder if we’ll even get the first full season…
Whoooaaaaa get well soon Impz. and oh thanks ThirteenSugars for the saiunkoku subs and everything. Thank you for the ryuuki goodness. This may be disturbing but you guys are the typical anime parents i never had *sniff sniff* complete with the bickering and all *sniff sniff* hahahahahaha. Anyway, hope to see you all next episode. Saiunkoku anime had been mean to everyone, hopefully next episode would be wonderful.
@ThirteenSugars ((HUGS)) thank you that does ^-^
Arghh why is it that men are so stubborn when they are sick? Hubby-sama is the same way. I had to lock him in the bedroom one time because he insisted on going to play ice hockey when he could barely stand. Hmm did I say stubborn, maybe I should have said stupid!
As for Geneon.
Well at little while ago Geneon announced that they and ADV had stuck a deal. The deal meant that ADV Films would be handling the sales, marketing, and distribution of Geneons titles.
Now both companies have released a statement both saying that they backed out of the deal.
AnimeNewsNetwork posted that Dentsu adds, (Dentsu is now the sole owner of Geneon after Mitsubishi backed out) that “From October 1, 2007, Geneon USA will focus mainly on management of its works portfolio.”
So none of us are really sure what that means. A couple of posters in their forums, who have relatives who work in business, say a statement like that usually means a company is about to go under.
Hubby-sama says it could simply mean that they are going to do just that. Manage what they currently have and not take on any more acquisitions.
I hope its the latter. It would really suck for them to just bow out and leave a lot of shows unfinished.
But Saiunkoku is a pretty recent acquistion. So if they were having financial trouble, why would they pick up more new series if they weren’t sure they were going to be able to complete them?
And if they did go under it isn’t really clear what would happen to the titles they manage. Would they go up for grabs for other people to license? By either the rights reverting back to the companies they came from, or could Geneon sell them off themselves and recoup some losses that way.
If that becomes the case, I hope for the latter, because it would probably make things move quicker in the sense of getting shows out over here.
But there is no guarantee either way other companies over here would pick up all the shows they have.
I would hope as I said in the other thread, that given Saiunkoku was popular enough in Japan to garner a second season. It would interest another company over here.
Of course it would probably depend on the sales of the show in question over here. But if they’ve only released a handful of discs (so far only one) can you really judge how well a show will sell based on one disc?
I would hope Saiunkoku has produced decent numbers. There seemed to be a lot of interest for it on the ANN boards and from people on LiveJournal.
I know when I got my first disc, there was an insert inside with the release dates for the rest of the entire season, but of course that doesn’t mean it will happen. Volume 2 is out next month and is pre-ordered, so I guess we’ll see if it arrives.
Well it looks like I might get volume 2 but nothing beyond that.
As of 5p.m September 28th, Geneon will cease all sales, related distribution and marketing.
It will only take orders on catalog products or new releases with a street date of November 6th or earlier.
Which I guess means anything scheduled past November 6th is therefore canceled?
So that would mean no SaiMo volume 3. (Cries)
OMG THE KING IS SO HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When will episode 23 be aired? does anyone have any idea???
that will be next week, saturday.
thanx a lot Impz.. even i was disappointed to see it was a recap. but then again it’s good to have flashbacks as it’s been quite a while since i last watched episode 17.. like u said yep, Ryuuki is so kawaii with all those funny expressions.. lol good to see him in such a cheery mood after a series of serious issues they had to deal with.. hope the next episode will be interesting..
ryuuki is soo cute!!
hu’s that guy wearing yellow?
I WANT SEIRAN WHERE IS SEIRAN WHERE CAN I FIND A WEBSITE FULLY DEDICATED TO HIM??? Yah, i’m a rabid fanbuoy.
