Who is this guy in a retro Chinese room, a retro Chinese ma-gua shirt, a retro pseudo-Chinese pose?
This week includes such a bloody enormous revelation I blogged this immediately, instead of waiting for a free day. (It doesn’t hurt that I was unexpectedly let off earlier by an hour.)
Last week Shito was emboweled, or rather pierced through the abdomen by a chain saw. This week sees him lying on bed, seeming to have gained an unexpected admirer and having a jolly good time as a result. In fact, Shito has been revealed to be somewhat of a lady’s man (despite his weird temper), gaining and/or revealing to have more admirers than we know, including our very own Michiru, who expresses a lot more care and feelings for Shito than is warranted after enduring the latter’s vicious verbal flaying.
Of course, Shito is kidnapped and in the hands of an insane doctor, so all is not well. Not to mention the fact that he is far away from Chika and his right hand; we finally get to see some of the consequences of having Chika and Shito far apart for an extended period of time.
Summary in Pellets
IMO, Shito seems to be having a jolly good time here.
(Usual disclaimer: Again, I decipher all names from my ears alone, so don’t quote me and don’t expect anything more than relative accuracy.)
1 ) Shito’s family servant goes to the ZL office and is revealed to be called “Toh Ho

Shito looks at the comb (over which he had such a big flare-up over with Michiru, which is somehow mysteriously lying besides him very conveniently)
My theory is that Little Miss Frankenzombie found the comb on Shito when she bandaged him up the very first time. Assuming it was important to him — why else would a boy be carrying around a woman’s hair comb? –, Little Miss Frankenzombie laid it on the bed next to Shito so that he could see it after he woke up.
Raise your hand now if you aren’t shocked that Shito is older than he looks. (manga readers excluded.)
Admit it! Was it a shock to you?
The manga scanlations haven’t gone past the Shiba arc. So all this information about Shito is news to me. Nevertheless, I won’t be raising my hand. You may not believe this, but I’ve had a theory since around episode 6 that Shito has been a zombie longer than Chika has. (Check out the Zombie-Loan thread over at AnimeSuki. We’ve been discussing my theory for a couple of weeks now.) However, never in my wildest dreams did I guess that Shito was mid 19th century old! Wow.
I feel sorry for Little Miss Frankenzombie. She clearly wants to be loved in a non-creepy way by someone other than Doctor Zombie. I hope that once Shito is rescued, the boys will work to help her pass on in a way that involves as little pain as possible. She deserves a peaceful afterlife.
LKK added these pithy words on Aug 29 07 at 8:09 pmMy first thought of that chinese Toh Ho feels like Dr Jackal from Getbackers in a way. I wonder if that is the same thing in your mind. I haven’t gotten a chance to watch zombie loan episode 9, so I will wait for the subs to be out for english before commenting more.
heh heh ^_^
Impz added these pithy words on Aug 29 07 at 8:40 pmYes, I have yet to watch it as well. It looks like an interesting episode.
Briar: “IMO, Shito seems to be having a jolly good time here.”
Sure looks like it.
Kyokii added these pithy words on Aug 29 07 at 10:21 pmQuick question: In an effort to not spoil the entire episode for myself, I skimmed over the summary and read the points briefly, but…
Is Shito Chinese?
Kyokii added these pithy words on Aug 29 07 at 11:09 pmit seems so, at least from the way he was called by his servant. Either that, or his family runs in a traditional chinese mentality.
Impz added these pithy words on Aug 29 07 at 11:13 pmDear Toh Ho, with his falsely smiling face, reminds me of another character in another anime, although for the life of me I can’t remember who. Anyone willing to jot my memory?
well for me i think he resemble Gin from Bleach..don know abt u….
wow ZL seems to pose more questions then answer them in every episode.. can’t wait to see how Chika rescue Shito!!!:D
Im not raising my hand either cuz I was also into the theory that LKK-sensei had gone into on AS about him already being a zombie. I was shocked to find out that he was THAT old tho.
The first time he saw Shito was in mid 19th century, in Shanghai, China. He is not a 16 years old high school student; he has been created by the Xu Fu mafia who has been through various periods of history and countries.
Good lord…how old is he then!! Am I the only one that is kinda o_O at that comment
YamiKakyuu added these pithy words on Aug 30 07 at 11:19 amI agree with Shrae he looks like Gin from bleach
lillium added these pithy words on Aug 30 07 at 2:26 pmZL is getting more and more interesting. There is a lot of information about Shito that completely shocked me. I kind off had the feeling that he was involved with some type of organized crime organization. It all adds up to the mixture of people in ZL which makes it more interesting. Thanks for posting this!!
Hola added these pithy words on Aug 30 07 at 5:08 pmDid Toh Ho remind you of Ichimaru Gin from Bleach? cuz he reminded me

kiwi-lover added these pithy words on Sep 01 07 at 12:50 pmI just finished watching Zombie Loan 9. Although they didn’t get to save Shito just yet, there were many interesting revelations and points:
1. Shito is not a normal 16 year old, but rather, something “created.”
*Shock*
2. Xu Fu is a strong Mafia/Triad group in China, linked to Shito.
3. Xu Fu literally owns Shito.
4. Who is To Ho?
5. The woman in Shito’s flashback was who?
6. What does this “Doctor” want? Is he linked to a bigger evil organization?
7. Sotetsu and Koyomi = ?
As I said before, I wanted them to kind of jump right into saving Shito, but it didn’t happen this episode. However, the various developments were fascinating to see. I, for one, am shocked to find out that Shito is some kind of “creation.” I wonder what’s up with that?
Somehow, after seeing this episode, I do not seem to think that the Xu Fu is entirely evil. They seem to be some kind of “third party” out to accomplish their own goals whether the goals are linked to Z-Loan or not. Since the Xu Fu desires the safety of Shito, I do not think that they would set out to destroy the protagonists, which entails Z-Loan… after all, Shito is the buffer between the protagonists and Xu Fu and Shito “works” for Z-Loan. That in itself is kind of unclear though. Watashimori was holding back some information and I think that is key.
Sotetsu kinda’ owns. He’s got this persona of a renegade bad ass. We’ll probably see him fight more next episode. Koyomi is especially fond of him as seen in that one scene?
Also, what’s the deal with the “Doctor?” He’s annoying. “Doctor” or “Rabbi” as he likes to address himself that way, creates golems for fun? I don’t understand evil characters who does “evil” just for the sake of doing evil, but I somehow suspect that isn’t the case. He must be linked to some other organization or group. Oh well… we’ll find out.
Kyokii added these pithy words on Sep 02 07 at 8:42 amToh Ho reminded me of Gin from Bleach. The only difference being I like Gin but not him… Don’t mind me.
And this isn’t really a spoiler I guess… but that woman Shito’s hugging is his mom. In the credits, there’s a line that basically says’s “Shito’s Mother - insert seiyuu name here”. So yeah. So the comb does belong to his mother.
carzla added these pithy words on Sep 03 07 at 7:28 am@carzla: LOOOLL! You cheated! You spoiled all the fun of speculating!
Oh well. One mystery solved. You’ve got a keen eye.
Kyokii added these pithy words on Sep 03 07 at 9:59 amI’d have to agree, his creepy smile is eerily reminiscent of Gin from Bleach.
Hmm well maybe he jumped all over Michiru because her sentiments echoed that of his mother and he didn’t want to watch someone else give up on life in that way.
But of course that’s just speculation since we don’t the circumstances surrounding her death.
D.J added these pithy words on Sep 03 07 at 7:57 pmcarzla: So the comb does belong to his mother.
Thanx, at least we answered 1 ques of the thousand still there.
One thing amused and interested me too is that Chika was shocked and upset over Shito’s lie and kidnapping.
I really want to watch the next episode abt saving Shito
imme added these pithy words on Sep 04 07 at 4:39 pmwell, i was thinking of him being ancient before and then I was: hmm…let’s forget about it! Then this episode came and then I was: O.O
KukuCeres added these pithy words on Sep 29 07 at 2:39 pmJust a quick comment on the memory… but to me Toh Ho reminds me of Gin Ichimaru on Bleach.
Hanako added these pithy words on Sep 29 07 at 5:54 pm…can’t take comment back, someone already mentioned the Gin Ichimaru resemblance. LOL… darn it wasn’t an original comment.
