i cant wait to see Kazuma being all ruffled by Genma. Its surely a treat to see him from his usual cool self!!

The fanservice is getting very shallow (though it has been going on since the begining, just never so much at one time). I hope they have a more serious episode soon. Shoshu as a matchmaker is just plain scary, what an odd father!

On the other hand, I agree that it is certainly nice to see Kazuma getting so upset like that. ^^

Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that Ayano’s father is trying to get her together with her first cousin?

@ devilyne: I’m of mixed opinion on that; while I love seeing Kazuma lose his cool, I didn’t think much of the rather slapsticky humor they are employing here.

Oh well. We can’t have everything. :P

@ Linya: I think fanservice is more concentrated in the earlier part of the episode. To be honest, towards the end of this episode, if I never see another half naked man in ugly robes and/or towels, I’ll be overjoyed. They seriously look awful half naked. Either it’s the art, or it’s the version I watched. Hard to tell…

IMO, Kazuma in his shirt and pants looks a lot COOLER than towel-clad Kazuma.

@ tsukiyomi: Well, I don’t read it, so I can’t help you there. Good luck!

@ Az: Eh… no? :P Ok, seriously, I think Western audience would have a worse time accepting this, but I have absolutely no trouble with it.

Can anyone confirm whether Ayano and Kazuma are first cousins or not? Are their fathers cousins, or brothers? I read somewhere that they are actually cousins, not brothers, but I can’t find the source anymore. If they are second cousins, I think it will make it more acceptable for the vast majority.

    Cousins!

What is this thing about Cousins that so many commentators are concerned about? First Cousins fall in love and get married all over the world and it is perfectly legal.

In Europe and the US it is not very usual within close-knit families because it would feel too like marrying your sister!

Where families are less close-knit it is far more likely to happen.

I believe it is very common in Japan for 1st Cousins to marry but their culture and tradition obviously have an additional impact on this.

I agree with Briar that I have read that Kazuma and Ayono’s fathers are 1st Cousins making them 2nd Cousins (for you prudes out there).

However in Kanon, Yuuichi and Nayuki are definitely 1st Cousins (and don’t bother telling me that they didn’t end up together…).

Great blog again Briar, can’t wait for the subs to arrive

@ strictone: Glad you can confirm my thoughts! And thanks for the compliments. :D I grew up on cousin marriages in books and television, so I really can’t say I’m at all bothered by it. But I guess others probably don’t feel the same.

@ Hola: Thanks! Work’s going alright, and at least it isn’t all bad! :D

@ ayano_sama: You can ask for subs… It just wouldn’t be answered. :)

Seriously, though, it isn’t logical to go to an anime blog specifically for reviews for downloading links, right? After all, there are so many downloading blogs out there. :)

@ Katyo: *blinks* Ehm… thanks? Glad you like my blogs! :P

What a truly dysfunctional group. The father-son dynamic is scary in how alike they are. Ayano’s dad trying to set up his teenage daughter in such a way? I guess by hook or by crook he wants Kazuma back in the family. It probably would be up to this method since Genma’s style of “communicating” doesn’t seem to be the best, LOL.
