Saiunkoku Monogatari II Episode 14 – “虎穴
Yes, this is me with an extremely jet lagged mind trying to see if I can blog on this episode. It is an impressive episode for sure, even though I only got to watch this like yesterday (being late for almost one whole week). Returning back after a 18 hour flight is definitely no laughing matter, and my head just hurts now because I woke up at a wonderful time of 4 am being unable to sleep. Sigh. This is my first post for a while, and sadly, I will be missing in action for the next week due to army reservist training. I will officially be back by Saturday though, and I hope that Crusader and the others have entertained you guys a hell lot, because they are very darn good.
Nevertheless, this episode is definitely in a huge bundle of plot twists. 虎穴

The way Eigetsu argued with Kourin and made her go away but then let Ryuuren rescue him made me think that he was symbolically rejecting STRAIGHT and choosing HARD GAY ;p
I have allways felt funny thinking at the first Ryuren’s comment at the exam… since Eigetsu was Shuurei’s friend, then he was even his. And we see these aren’t only word, but fact.
But I don’t think he is gay O.O
Ryuren is not the social tipe, and is not normal.. having a friend for him is most important of “normal” people and the love is most deep, because it feel the emptiness in his heart. The expression he used is based on this, and on his personalities. I think he can tell Shurei too that he loves her, because she is important for him too (see when Sakujun dies and he is here for her).
Another thing annoies me..
the 7 priest of the color.. we know one for sure, but the others are mistery.. I think we see them, Ryureen is a possibility, Sakujun is another..
The problem is we have too many Good like “boy”..

I dunno, but the whole “mother” thing has an FF7 vibe to it. Now that i think about it, those white haired people = sephiroth clones?! Hmmm… and Shuurei is Aeris?!
Ok. nevermind. Hahaha, about the whole Ryuuren + Eigetsu thing, i must admit i started giggling like a schoolgirl on that part, but on the final analysis, i don’t think it was that gay. After all, Ryuuren’s so smart, his way of thinking transcends gender. I would suppose that’s the most “normal” ryuuren could get. (and of course, Eigetsu’s just playing along, being the nice innocent boy that he is.)
I think Sakujun is alive… and i think Eigetsu would live eventually. I dunno. They’d better make full use of the 25 or 39 episodes of season 2!!
But anyhow, thanks for blogging on this episode!! More power!! Ganbatte!!!

I hope Eigetsu gets to live. He’s a great character and it would be so cruel for Kourin to have to lose someone that she cares for once again.
As for yaoi?
I agree with Uruz 8, that Ryuuren probably wouldn’t care about gender when it came to love. He seems to be that kind of person.
But I think Eigetsu really is in love with Kourin.
So the exchange was probably more about love in the sense of friendship, rather than well, you know.
Then again, I guess you never know! With all those bishies who can say if they are all straight! ^-^
@Karura: Strangely enough, the first thing I thought about the incident is how you will parody about it. Ermm, I think I am reading too much of your hard yuri and hard yaoi parody entries already. This is not good.
@Flaw: Well, the thing is that it seems just like a vibe, even though it is VERY APPARENT that his form of love is of a true friend. I am very shocked that he really loved his friends dearly, regretting very badly that he had indirectly caused his friend’s life to be reduced. He is really a very strange enigma in terms of the dynamics between the characters.
I do wonder if Ryuuren is one. I highly doubt so though.
@Uruz: Ya, I have recovered from jet lag but I have to serve my nation in the army for 1 week (I am just on the relaxing Internet for a while). Nevertheless, when the cult leader went Kaa-san, I went into kaa-san overload FF7 style. I laughed myself silly on it too.
Both of them are merely using love as a friendship, but hey, it does have that yaoi vibe, no? Ho ho ho, we know of course that on the final lowdown, it’s obvious that it is not yaoi for sure. But, hmm….
Sakujun appearing as a mirage is a very nice touch, especially since no one knew who actually rescued Eigetsu from his binds.

@D.J: I really hope that he can live, because Kourin will be so heartbroken. Yes, Eigetsu is so in love with Kourin that I am sweetened by the two of them!

Well according to the Livejournal SaiMo community Geneon is trying to get the rights to Season 2.
But how it goes will depend on how good sales are for the first Season.
So buy those dvds everyone!
I just wish ANN would update its page so I can find out who the voice actors are. I know Ocean group has it, but they still haven’t posted just who the V.A’s are.
From the people who posted having seen the first five dubbed episodes at Otakon, most seemed to like it. Each poster had a differing view on which voice they didn’t like. But overall fans said they liked it, and that people who hadn’t seen it before seemed interested and not put off by the dub.
I imagine for any V.A trying to follow Tomokazu Seki as Ryuuki is going to be very hard.

Its ok take your time with the next episode. I sort of know how you feel because I drove up to L.A this Sunday(yesterday)at 4pm after being picked up at a party with sore feet because of my heels and then a 6 hour drive in a skirt!!!!I just came back yesterday Monday at 11pm and I don’t feel very well! But its getting pretty intense and now I have sooo many more questions. Does this mean that Sakujun is definitely alive because maybe my hypothesis was true – ( After Shuurie leaving Sakujun at the tree he somehow crawled to his safekeep where he had the antidote and after drinking it he ran away like the red-dyed chiwawa that he is!)

Oh btw ANN updated and Kelly Sheridan is now listed as the voice actress for Shuurei.
Which is kind of cool since she also played Sango in InuYasha over here.
And of course in Japan Shuurei is played by Houko Kuwashima who was the Japanese voice of Sango in InuYasha! ^-^
I always thought she did a good job as Sango so I look forward to hearing her as Shuurei.

About Ryuuren well i too think he’s not a normal human, though his habits are always quite eccentric. lol Still, i think he has clairvoyance to know what’s happening to his kindred spirits whether they’re are near or far away.
about his ‘confession’ to Eigetsu, considering how he’s always treated them.. i think he only meant how important Eigetsu was for him and how much he truly cares for him. It’s for that reason he traveled such a distance without even taking a break. so i think that caring was what he meant as his love towards Eigetsu. it only proves they’re truly best pals, isn’t it?

Hey can anyone tell me where i can find this theme tune. It is played throughout the anime at different times, but if you watch episode 33, season 1, were Shurei is with Sakujun, and he is asking her to make him tea. Its this tune, it sound slike it is playd with a harp or something like it. Does anyone know where i can find it, or what it is called.
