This week’s episode has an American enjutsu (fire magic) female challenger arriving in Japan and challenging Ayano for both the title of the Strongest Enjutsushi (fire magic user) as well as the Enraiha (Ayano’s flaming sword). How is Ayano going to cope with it? Is she going to win? Or is she going to defeated and humiliated utterly (like in episode 8 when she was played a fool by Tiana), and have Kazuma stepped in to save the day?
A good thing about this week is that we finally see Ayano out of her school uniform and Kazuma out of his casual shirt and jacket. It is indeed a spectacle to see Ayano waving her sword and throwing fireballs in a pink gown. Also presented is a shockingly intimate scene between Kazuma and Ayano, which is probably very looked forward to by manga readers.
Summary

The episode opens with the American challenger arriving at the airport and declaring her intention to “duel

Hahaha that lick scene made me LoL so early in the morning. ^_^
You forgot that in the episode in the school at night Kazuma licked Ayano nose, and in ep.4 Kazuma give elixir to Ayano lip to lip.. even though in this last there isn’t sentiment.. he is thinking of another girl in fact..
Is he really interested in Ayano? Or is he going whit the flow?
After that Ayano is becoming very weak.. before Kazuma comes she was a spoiled child, whit no need to be serious but beliving in herself (but she was not very mature or astute) after she begin to rely on Kazuma and don’t mature again..
When will she change?!?!?
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOBZ
Also, nid moar Ignis :V
The lick scene was hilarious. Thank you so much again for the summary!
I look forward to each episode’s sub release of KnS. But I haven’t wanted to see a KnS episode as much as I want to see this episode. Your review isn’t helping to ease that want.
@ Allen: Yep, that scene is totally hilarious. Screenshots and words just don’t do it enough justice.
@ flaw: You’re right, Kazuma has taken advantage of Ayano more than once. Yet, the circumstances are vaguely different. The elixir was to save Ayano’s life, and he can’t very well just pour it down her throat. The lick her nose scene was more like this wine licking scene, however at that time Kazuma is deliberately trying to unsettle Ayano and get her to release her. The intimacy may be similar, but I think that the feelings involve are vastly different. He doesn’t lick her for any ulterior motive; he licks her because he wants to. If nothing else, he could have just reached over with a finger, wipe that wine off her face, and suck it off his finger if he really doesn’t want to waste the wine.
Which is why I personally feel that he is getting interested, or at least not opposed to the idea of Kazuma x Ayano.
I don’t read the manga, so I wouldn’t know how Ayano would turn out to be like. However, from what I’ve read on Scrumptious blog (which has an excellent deep frying section which compares the manga with the anime) the anime is significantly different from the manga, especially in terms of characters. So I wouldn’t worry about Ayano’s future weakness until they truly appear on screen.
@ DrmChsr0: Eh…. huh?
@ Hola: You’re welcome.
I’m glad you enjoy the summary.
@ LKK: I’ll take that as a compliment.
I think you will really enjoy this episode; I certainly did.
What the…
They’re cousins, that’s just wrong, just wrong, yet it’s all right.
Lick scene was great!
@ Kyokii: I suppose it doesn’t help if I say that in Japan (and some other cultures) cousins can marry each other?
What if I say that there isn’t even any concrete proof that married cousins have a higher chance of deformity than unrelated people?
Although when I think about it, wasn’t it said somewhere that Ayano’s father and Kazuma’s father are first cousins (their grandparents are the same people), which will make Ayano and Kazuma second cousins and even less close than ever? I’m not sure about that, though. Would have to look it up.
@ Shaun: I totally agree.
Nice story about Japanese who love wine like this that they licked wine from girl face and don’t want to waste wine “really shocked”.
@kyokii
In some asian cultures, cousins from the father’s side are allowed to marry. So, I don’t think there’s any incest invovled. Kazuma and Ayano make a great pair anyway ^_^
P.S. Absolutely adore the lick scene! >_
That’s funny; on the episode I was watching, it read that if Ayano lost, /she/ would have to go to America with Katherine. The condition struck me as funny, and I even went back to that part to re-read it just to make sure I didn’t overlook Kazuma’s name, but I was right the first time. The episode can be found on Crunchyroll.
Still, VERY much looking forward to the impending KazumaxAyano goodness; it’s what keeps me watching the show, after all. Since you’ve read the light novels, can you foresee an arc in the future that Gonzo will put in and that’ll also bring Ayano and Kazuma even closer? 8D
Thanks for the summary! In fact, I’m most curious about the “girl Kazuma couldn’t save” – from a demon which took her spirit (or something like that). We got the flashback in ep. 4, if I remember correctly… when Ren was about to be sacrificed in order for Ryuuya to get his full (demonic) power. I’m looking forward for more Kazuma x Ayano, of course, but also to know more about Kazuma’s relationship to that girl in question. ^^
@ Taylz: I do not actually read the light novels… so I have no speculations whatsoever.
Of course, I think they will end up together. That’s how they SHOULD end up, anyway.
@ PeaceB: Yes, I’m very curious too. I think maybe she was his first love; if so, I’ll be looking forward to seeing Ayano’s reaction to that.
you kinda scared me with the lick part but it seemed harmless to me^^
they look sooooooooo cute together
i love it!!!!!!!!!!
