In episodes 5 and 6, we meet Haraken, president of the school’s Biology Club and Number 5 of Mega-baa’s cyber-investigation agency. He’s known for being shy, non-social, and his non-leadership skills. Haraken only seems to be interested in his research on Illegals however, he does care about his friends, saving them a few times from the Satchii.
Episode 5
Isako hires the help of Daichi’s Hackers Club by promising them a huge load of meta-bugs in an old junkyard full of buses. However, it seems that Isako is trying to find something other than meta-bugs. Fumie, Yasako, and Haraken follow Isako’s group to the junkyard in order to get in on the stash of meta-bugs. After digging a bunch of holes in over 15 different buses, they eventually find a few meta-bugs but, their little excavation hunt goes short when the Satchiis appear.
A large fire is set off by Isako and Daichi and his gang are bribed into joining Isako by becoming her lackeys. Fumie, Yasako, and Fumie’s little brother (who was with Daichi) are cornered by a Satchii when Haraken appears and commands the Satchii to stop. Thus, this allowed Yasako and co. to escape.
Episode 6
After the incident at the junkyard, Fumie immediately distrusts Haraken since he’s able to control the Satchiis. Fumie and Yasako (to an extent) ambush Haraken trying to question him about his relation to the Satchiis. However, Haraken simply answers that he cannot say because he has a duty of confidentiality and escapes by using a smoke bomb.
Fumie and Yasako start on conducting research on the Satchii by testing what Satchiis consider illegal and will shoot at and what their detection range is like. Things go well except with Kyoko tries to tag along and gets in trouble.
Fumie and Yasako finally have a talk with Haraken where he talks about how Kanna (the girl he started the research on Illegals with) died in a car accident due to an Illegal messing up the navigation system. He mentions that he must continue with is research or else Kanna won’t be able to rest in peace. Fumie and Haraken make up (Yasako was never really against Haraken) and they go off to look for Kyoko who seems to have gone missing.
Kyoko almost gets run over by a truck but, she gets saved by a stranger on a motorcycle. It turns out that this person is really Haraken’s aunt, a consultant of cyberspace management and if I’m not mistaken, the person in charge of the Satchiis.
Impressions
One thing I forgot to mention is that Daichi and his gang used to be in the Biology Club with Haraken and Fumie. However, they left the club after causing a bunch of trouble thus, leading to the birth of the Hacker’s Club. After that happened, Fumie volunteered to become the new president of the Biology Club but, Haraken was given the position instead. Despite all this, Isako now controls the Hacker’s Club making Daichi one of her lackeys.
Anyways, overall I loved these two episodes. Meeting new characters is always a plus for me as long as it doesn’t get overwhelming. I’m wondering who the rest of the members of Mega-baa’s little club are… so far with have:
0- Mega-baa
1- ???
2- ???
3- ???
4- ???
5- Haraken
6- ???
7- Fumie
8- Yasako
It doesn’t appear that Daichi or any of his followers are part of Mega-baa’s organization or at least it hasn’t been reveal as so yet.
Haraken is a bit of an interesting character despite is lack of emotions. He seems determined to continue with his research and I wonder what that research may reveal in terms of the overall plot if anything. I’m wondering if something will happen to Haraken since his power to control Satchii for one whole minute seems to be a little overpowering. This might be an important thing since so far the only enemy present in the series so far is the Satchii whereas the only Illegal that has appeared has been destroyed. It seems though that there will be an illegal in episode 7.
Denpa also seems to have an interesting ability. It was a bit subtle but, there were two instances in episode 5 where Denpa was able to hear sounds from meta-bugs while others were not able to. There was also that time where it was said that Denpa usually has good reception and that’s why he’s nicknamed Denpa. I’m wondering how this will affect the story if at all.
Anyways, can’t wait for episode 7… Move out! Coil Investigation Agency! ^^

Well, for one, the episode really shows a good deal of good storytelling involving the aunt and Haraken. If anything, I am not shocked at all at Haraken’s abilities, especially that of being able to control Satchiis. He must have a reason to be the leader in the school for the club, and it’s apparent from Episode 5 that he does have some power.
If I remember correctly, I find the part of the two girls not wearing their specs and feeling all strange very amusing. I mean, I never realize the distinction of people who wear such digital specs that can see digital distortions are no longer able to see the normal real world. It’s a very starking example of the digital age, where our eyes are blinded so much by mirages that we no longer can see the true world.
Episode 7 will be really cool as we see quite a bit of new stuff. Nice Blogging and I finally got to make a proper comment, hehe ![]()
Thanks Impz,
The part when Fumie and Yasako take off their glasses and start to feel all weird was a bit strange for me to understand to be honest. If I remember correctly, they’ve taken off their glasses before while eating, taking a bath, etc. and they didn’t really show any signs of “weirdness” like when they went to see the flower lady. Perhaps we were just never shown how it affected them or that maybe they’re fine with taking off their glasses as long as they don’t have to move anywhere (i.e. it’s fine as long as they’re just eating or taking a bath).
But yeah anyways, I’m hoping episode 7 will be good.
