From the previous episode, the doctors are finally ready after all the preparations are complete. With Ensei, the help of the womenfolk, as well as the strength shown by Shuuran, the doctor team is able to enter Kouling and work on the patients. However, most of the doctors are merely learning on a theoretical standpoint and has not done practical training in the form of real humans for surgery. For these doctors who have hardly seen blood, the ability to cut up a body will require a lot of mental strength. Can they all do it?

Thank you very much!
As fast and as good as ever!

I hope someone fansub it very fast -.-

Flaw added these pithy words on Jun 30 07 at 2:02 pm

I’m sad - it seems like no fansub group has picked this up due to the license.

Naddie added these pithy words on Jun 30 07 at 8:24 pm

@Alym: It’s a pity that I do not follow the novel since it will spoil me on the events of the anime itself. As much as some people enjoy to read the novel, and then watch the proceedings via the novel, I am not one of them. ^+^ sorry that I cannot answer your question.

@Flaw: Glad that it is useful, and it’s encouragement when someone comments just to let me know he/she is reading this ^+^

@Naddie: Episode 2 AND 3 are currently being subbed already. Episode 2 is now in the QC section (hidden information), and ep 3, i am not sure but it is in the works :P

Thanks for these summaries. I discovered this site about a week or 2 back and have been lurking since, haha. I’m new to Kokumono, I discovered it in the middle of June and got hooked. So I’m happy to be able to read the summaries and on top of that, I enjoy reading your own comments. It’s like having a conversation about your favorite show and your friend is doing all the talking as you greedily soak it all in ^_^

LOL, I’m not sure if that came out right, but it was meant to be a compliment :D Thankies again

Denise added these pithy words on Jun 30 07 at 10:20 pm

@Denise: hahaha! Well, it’s better to converse together on a show that you like. In a way, that is perhaps why I started a blog. Compared to real life buddies, I cannot find many of them who show the same interest in the animes that I enjoyed, much less have long lengthy discussions of a certain episode. In a way, I am just glad to listen to any form of feedback as long as it is constructive.

Thank you for the compliment and I will continue to write decently (I hope). ^_^

You are definitely the fastest to get new info out on the latest episode. Great Work! I’ve been totally engrossed with this anime since it started and luckily I have been able to mostly understand what is going on, but the succinct explanations you give help me to solidify what I’ve understood and some of what I haven’t been able to understand.

I’m writing from New Zealand and its extremely difficult to find decent anime that isn’t just the typical ‘popular’ type of mecca etc. Plus its very expensive to get things imported especially unless you have friends from Japan or other parts of Asia.

All in all, thankyou and I’ll continue to keep reading your blogs until the subbers bring it on.

ling added these pithy words on Jul 01 07 at 4:21 am

p.s the time difference here is huge, it says 4.21am above but for me its 11.21pm!

ling added these pithy words on Jul 01 07 at 4:23 am

@Ling: Thanks Ling. I always try to write it as fast as possible so people who want to know the latest in the episode and in love with the series will get the details as soon as it is out in Japan. I actually am going to buy the manga for this series because it looks pretty good. It will probably start to burn that evil hole I have in my pocket, but we have to return to the anime industry, yes?

Writing from New Zealand? Wow, it is really interesting for a blog writer to have readers from everywhere, particularly when it’s across the ocean. To add, it is very expensive to get things imported, but it is also somewhat bad if we just freeload the whole time. I guess we all have to somehow return. By the way, the timing is California’s time, but I do not live in California at all.

I hope you will continue to read my blog even after the subbers bring it on. Heh heh ^^

okay so i found out that there will be 25 episodes for the second season of Saiunkoku Monogatari. thanks so much for your hard work and i hope that the fansubs get the episodes out soon.

peach blossom added these pithy words on Jul 01 07 at 12:12 pm

oops i meant 39 episodes. sorry. there will be 39 episodes i think of the second series, just like the first.

peach blossom added these pithy words on Jul 01 07 at 12:13 pm

Wow, this episode is seriously intense. Everything from the actual healing, to the interaction between characters. I too am particularly touched by the scene where Shuurei sat there and played her er-hu. It was heartbreaking when that single tear dropped down.

So the mastermind of the villian is the Hyou clan. I do wonder what they are going to do with Ryuuki and Riou. What is their relationship? And I want more Ryuuki!

Although in a way, they have a great system of storytelling here in that all the characters are interacting with the main story line, even though they are thousands of miles apart. At least that means I’ll still get to see Ryuuki! :D

Briar added these pithy words on Jul 01 07 at 10:21 pm

@Peach blossom: That will definitely be good news ^^ in terms of viewing pleasure. Yay, more shuurei and kourin please!

@Briar: Hmm, if anything, I found that scene really powerful. It reminded me of how Shuurei have to get rid of the pain that she felt inside her heart during the dark ages of the kingdom by playing the er hu as a kid to alleviate just a bit of pain for others.

I felt that it is somewhat like a tear that she fell for the yesteryear, as well for now. I felt that the natural way in which the tear fell made it all the more powerful.

I also wondered about Riou’s involvement in the whole thing but I guess that is why Ryuuki is hunting him down. ho ho ho~

Impz added these pithy words on Jul 01 07 at 11:25 pm

Yay! As i was saying, they did use Acupuncture for anaesthesia and strong wine for disinfection.
Anyway, i am still thinking about the Hyou Clan. I didnt know that Eiki was the clan leader, i thought it was always Riou. And how random is it that guys are neglected? I mean did they mean that guys cant bear children like normal humans or did they mean they cant reproduce i.e. infertile? Is it implied that the only one that is not being neglected is Riou? or jnr?
The guy that took over Kashin has a serious mother’s boy complex…lol. He seems really evil as well! yuck
What is Ryuuki going to do to Riou? They seem to have their swords draw in the preview for the next ep. Also did i see a peek of Ryuuren as well?

kurixkuri added these pithy words on Jul 02 07 at 4:29 am

hello, i want to ask. who know a site that they talk about the novel of saiunkoku monogatari please! onegai ^_^!
my address e-mail’s “temarie.akira@yahoo.fr”

ayumi added these pithy words on Jul 02 07 at 4:43 am

@Kuri: Well, for one, it’s definitely surprising that acupuncture is the way for anesthesia. I mean, I wasn’t really thinking about it at all, and shocked when I remember your words on it.

For the Hyou clan, I believe that it is because they do not have any females to reproduce with. Unless you believe in the situation of ermm one girl with a whole clan of guys, it means that only one guy can have the interaction with the sole girl in the clan. I am sorry for making it slightly unclear.

To add, I think Riou is the only one that has the chance to be with Shuurei’s mother which is why the cult member is probably complaining that the other guys do not have females. As they are very close minded in their contact with the outside world, the lack of females in the clan means that they appreciate females much more.

I wonder what Ryuuki is going to do though, since Ryuuki gave HIM the sword after drawing it. Wonders @_@

@Ayumi: I think the LJ community for saiunkoku might have some details on the novel. I am not sure though.

Impz added these pithy words on Jul 02 07 at 8:54 am

Wai, now I really, really want to see it.

This episode sounds so good.

Its one of the many reasons I love this show, it does drama so well!

D.J added these pithy words on Jul 02 07 at 7:33 pm

yes, DJ, if anything, Drama is always one of the key points of Saiunkoku Monogatari. In a long running series, it is always required to create new points of drama contact, if not it will turn stale. Saimono is still doing it after a long while =3

Impz added these pithy words on Jul 02 07 at 8:51 pm

Hello, very interesting summaries! It’s great that someone is summarizing the anime so that people who don’t understand Japanese or read Chinese can follow along.

@ayumi and alym: Well, if you really want to be spoiled, you can look at my site (click on my name) and I have some blog entries up that have spoilers for the current arc. However, this will really spoil you badly, so I would only do it if you really, really want to know more.

charmian added these pithy words on Jul 03 07 at 2:32 am

hello again!

Yes I agree more Ryuuki! I’m amazed at how complex this anime gets. Its great to see things like the acupuncture (as mentioned in a few blogs above). I can vouch for acupuncture because I just had surgery on my hand end of May and I had bad swelling and pain and could not move my fingers at all so I had acupuncture and it only took half an hour all up and the swelling went down, and I could move all my fingers for the first time in a week!!

Back to Saiunkoku - its even interesting they add details such as the type of stone/alloy used for the surgical knife.

I’m in suspense! Can’t wait to find out what Ryuuki is doing with Riou…

ling added these pithy words on Jul 03 07 at 3:45 am

Writing late at night is bad - I keep forgetting things…

To reply: Now that the series has been licensed I can at least buy it online (I hope) from the U.S. Its definitely good to show support for the anime you love because they’ll hopefully make more shows like it or styled like it.

And no worries, I will definitely continue to read your blog even after the second season gets subbed. Where else can I get decent intelligent conversation about my favourite show? :-P

ling added these pithy words on Jul 03 07 at 3:53 am

@Charmaine: Thanks for the site that you have provided of yourself. I am sure that the people that are curious of the novel can get their hands on it. Must. not. click. link.

@Ling: To be honest, I am not that acquainted with the use of acupuncture, which is why it took me by surprise when they mentioned the use of it to reduce pain and to sooth the muscles. I mean, it is impressive in which the patient doesn’t really feel THAT painful at least when his stomach is open. It’s a pity that they did not have anything to make them sleep, though i thought acupuncture can do that too. Hmm..

I am not sure if i got the ore name right though. From what i heard, it sounds like chrome…but i might be wrong.

You write effective summaries… and it’s quite a shock for me that the Hyou clan is in need of a female leader and I’m wondering what is Riou Hyou’s relation to Shuurei? Season two’s getting much more exciting.. but I’m quite sad because it seems that there’s no room for the growth of the relationship of Ryuuki & Shuurei… and what is Ryuuki and Riou Hyou doing in the latter part of the episode? Are they going to have a sword fight for Shuurei…?!?!! I’m very glad to find out about your blog and I’m surprised that you already have an article about Saiunkoku Monogatari II’s episode twelve… (you’re fast!) ooooh!!! I can’t wait for the next episode!! ^.^ and thanks…

Caitlin added these pithy words on Jul 03 07 at 10:42 pm

@Caitlin: No wonder Riou said that “what i want, i will have it back”. That is perhaps why Shouka is so worried, considering he has taken away the Bara-hime, or the only female in the whole clan. Hmm, I wonder if they are having a sword fight or Ryuuki using the sword for trading.

It is really ambiguous for the scene at least for the preview. I guess that is just as well to confuse the watchers ^^ Good job, them. That said, I am glad that you found it and do comment and discuss more!

Impz added these pithy words on Jul 04 07 at 6:36 am

Indeed, they do make excellent cliff-hangers.

Caitlin added these pithy words on Jul 04 07 at 6:44 am

Man this site is something else. I only discovered it a couple of days ago, but I am really impressed with the all the latest information that is available. Some of the summaries are really first rate.
