Yep, but as said, hentai is not exactly available on television channels. Still, making it PG-13rated makes it more acceptable. Just look at what Kodoma no Jikan caused in the United States. I do not really get the debate too much, but I guess that is of concern for profits ^^

The thing is, statutory gang rape and underage sex appear in japanese animation all the time (see hentai).

Bokurano airs late in the evening, at an airtime that only adult otaku would be watching anime, so it is not like the target audience in Japan includes kids.

I think Gonzo just decided to make Bokurano's anime PG-13 rated so that it would be more accepted to international markets like R1 and Europe. Which is fine I guess. Bokurano is still a good story with the softer content.

No problem, senefen, I added it in spoiler tags now. Due to my response that might give it away, I am going to use spoiler tags too

<spoiler>

Well, in a way, I can fully understand why they have to reduce the impact after reading the part of the manga side. I mean, if they had followed the manga version, there are three huge issues to handle. For one, it is statutory gang bang rape, underage sex as well as extreme violence in terms of children killing each other.

I think such a content will be totally killed in the form of anime, considering we are still talking about a mass audience that might be influenced. I think I will be somewhat creeped out if I do have that scene in my anime, and I guess I am somewhat happy it is softened.

The deal with Chizu from the manga: spoilers for the manga, the storyline's changed so I dont think there are anime spoilers in here.

<spoiler>Chizu's teacher seduced her and they had a relationship for a couple of months. Eventually he takes her to a hotel and hands her over to 3 men to rape. The whole thing is recorded so she cant speak out without the tapes being released. She finds she is pregnent but doesnt know who the father is. She starts avoiding him at school etc but sees him talking to another girl the way he did with her. This is probably when she decides to kill him.

So yes she was pregnent, yes the baby was counted as one of the contactors, it's just luck that Chizu was chosen before it to fight, if it had been the baby's turn first they would have lost. Chizu asks that when she dies her baby will go/stay with her as it cant fight anyway. Dung Beetle agrees and they both die.

Also there was no "causing Kako's death" in the manga, he went to her house knowing he was next to die and tried to rape her, she pulled out her knife, told him if he did it again she'd kill him and he left. In the cockpot later he freaks out in the middle of battle, he's going to lose so Chizu kills him by slitting his throat then takes over.
They softened it up quite a bit for the anime.</spoiler>
