Hi Impz! I’m so glad that you are still blogging about Saiunkoku. After GH has ended, I hardly come here except to read about this anime. heh. Hey, how about blog about Shounen Omnyouji eh? Also, if you don’t mind me asking: how do you actually do all the images so neatly? I wanna try my hand at anime blogging too. ![]()
Arrr, I am definitely still blogging about Saiunkoku since it is perhaps the only series that I have some time for. I do not blog about Shounen Omnyouji since I did not know about the series and it is a little too late @_@..
I actually did the images firstly by resizing them after capturing them on screenshots, and then using photoshop to set up a border in each picture and then put them on a template to be a whole set of them ![]()
Thanks for the summary!
simplyelena added these pithy words on May 19 07 at 9:53 pmThanks for the wonderful summary!!!!. You are the super hero of all the Saiunkoku non-Japaneses fans. I am looking forward to the next episode [summary]
Sibelle added these pithy words on May 20 07 at 6:00 amArigato Gozaimasu for your summary for Saiunkoku Season II. I was wondering is there a Chinese sub for this anime cause I stumbled upon your images with chinese subs on it. Do you mind telling me which chinese fansubs you use?
Zevil added these pithy words on May 20 07 at 7:43 amSigh.
On the one hand I am so happy that the first series is licensed. So I’ll be able to get this wonderful series on dvd in much better quality than the subs I have. (Well I’m still trying to talk hubby-sama into it. But I’m sure I will)
But on the other hand it sucks that it will be a long while before I get to see the rest of the second season since many have stopped subbing it.
Because this is such a wonderful show and the first season did a great job of setting the groundwork for Shuurei to really come into her own as an official.
But thank you for the summaries Impzy because at least I can read about just how far she has come from her beginnings. I just love that we have such a strong woman in an anime show.
Go Shuurei!!!
D.J added these pithy words on May 20 07 at 2:31 pmThis may sound like an ad. I am not sure if I am allowed to post this; if I am not you can delete it
There is someone who is willing to sub Saiunkoku (YAY!), but to quicken the pace they are looking for someone to translate and someone to help add the subs to the video. Anyone interested in helping them?
P_gal added these pithy words on May 20 07 at 6:52 pmthanks lmpz. i’m so glad for the summary and the image so nicely done that works my imagination while reading it. i really miss to see shuurei in action though! keep up the good work!
mika added these pithy words on May 20 07 at 9:54 pm@Sibelle and Zevil: no problem. Zevil, do email us if you are keen to know more. We do not entertain requests as noted from my warning above in bold
@DJ: I believe that the setting of Shuurei to really come into her own as an official is really good, because it helps to explain her strength and difference in the political sphere. However, I think my summary is somewhat inadequate at times to explain some of the intrinsic details.
However, in this episode, it’s apparent that she is a very scheming and intelligent woman, and courageous as well with dependable friends that have helped her in achieving her goals right in front of equally scheming merchants who are used to having discussions of monetary terms.
@P-Gal: You are definitely allowed to advertise for translators. I will help if I had time, but as you can see, i am struggling with writing for my blog already due to real life busyness

Impz added these pithy words on May 20 07 at 10:26 pmI was also very much intrigued by what Yougetsu mentioning that he was “saved 3 times”, although from what I understood, Yougetsu was saying that Doushu was the one who ’saved him’, and thus gave him ‘life’ to live longer ![]()
OK… I just watched that flashback part in episode 7 again…. grr! the chinese sub was wrong! *grumbles for looking at the chinese subs for that part instead of listening closely to what was being said in japanese* >_
usagijen added these pithy words on May 21 07 at 7:59 am(gomen… comment was cut, forgot the ‘forbidden smiley’)
I also checked the novel, it mentioned ’son(o) kurai…’ (referring to - live at least for a [little more while]). I guess the chinese translator heard ’san kurai’ or something, thus translated it as ‘3 times…’ =___=
guess I’ll have to correct my summary and thoughts on my saiunkoku post as well too…
usagijen added these pithy words on May 21 07 at 8:04 amYay! This is first time in this season that i actually watched the episode before reading your summary.
As you said, it never ceases to amaze me how many “great” and important people Shurrei knows (knowingly or not). The fact that You sensei used to look after her when she was young and the presence of her mum in that shot was quite significant i though. I got a vibe that You sensei knows something about Shurrei’s mum early demise and her speedy recovery. Maybe it was just me but i though he made a comment about her mum or something ( ok, my chinese is not very reliable and i DID have to stop a few thousand times to read the subs).
Regarding the merchant’s guild, i thought it was very cunning of her to do so many things at once. It proved to be crucial. She even put her job on the line to persuade them to help. It was a nice little touch to threaten them with the emperor’s mandate!! haha.
Comical moments were essential in this episode. Kokujun was so funny, comparing ppl with clothes and fish (was it just me?) and panicking @ the same time.
There were some sad bits as well. The most prominent was definitely Kourin. She was heartbroken! Ryuuki and Seiran looked pretty gloomy as well..bet they miss Shurrei. All the light-heartness of the last season seems to be gone…
On the preview for next episode, when Shurrei takes off her “buds”, i think it either means she is threatening to leave the goverment or she is swearing by them to do a great job and save the ppl. i am much more inclined to the latter. We will see.
kurixkuri added these pithy words on May 21 07 at 9:35 amLOL @ Kokujun… yeah, he was comparing it with clothes and fishes ^^;;;
as for the preview, it doesn’t seem to me like she really ‘took it off’ and got rid of it… her gesture showed that she was like bowing to Ryuuki with the flower bud on her hand… and well, the other scenes in the preview showed her still having the flower bud o_O
so, I believe it’s more of kurixkuri’s latter presumption as well (swearing to do her best and save the people) ![]()
@Usajigen: Arr, thanks for the error check since I have literally no clue on the Japanese sounds, and I will be editing it after I come back from my buddies outing. Kokujun just went totally out of point in that scene and it made it hilarious. Everyone is so serious and he went with the analogy with the clothes and stomach. It was so off-beat, but somewhat like what he will do.
@Kuri: You Sensei probably knows quite a bit about the illness, considering that he does know quite a bit of medicinal knowledge and he has that slightly mysterious vibe in him.
I highly doubt that she is threatening to leave the government but perhaps more to the extent that she is willing to take off her buds (the trusted hairpin) in order to protect the people if it is required. I believe that Shuurei knows the powerful symbolic gesture toward removing the bud, and hence it is also something of a threat and her resolution.
Kourin just looks so gloomy that I want to hug her. MY CUTE KOURIN-CHANNNNNNNN!
Impz added these pithy words on May 21 07 at 7:03 pmwaaaahhh!!! where’s ryuuukiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LL13JL added these pithy words on May 23 07 at 1:07 pmYay! Keep up the good work! I love how the disease thing all made sense in the end. Very logical. Hmmm….I wonder how many seasons this anime is gonna run. I hope they don’t butcher the end to try to make it fit for a shorter TV thing. But we shall see. Anyway, thanx!
Atrilial added these pithy words on May 24 07 at 2:38 amwell …. thanks for the summary
