As we entered the new week, I was losing touch with anime, holding on to a huge backlog that is pretty fascinating. First, we have some hot babe swinging her blade (no pun intended) as a cute, happily petite loli follows her in a journey that no one actually knows. Of course, monster slaying is preferred. Then, we went on to strike a good two points after swinging a nice bat across the field and have some nice pitchers for a good drink. As much as we love to go on, the journey ends off with some cosplay for good measure, in the form of a rabbit costume and a sumo wrestler look-a-like!
Join me into the world of the insane, as I covered three series that I have watched this week! They are namely Claymore and Kamichama Karin Episode 6 as well as Ookiku Furikabette Episode 5.
Claymore Episode 6

This episode deals with the continued trip of Teresa as she is taunted by the bandits. As she tried to leave Claire back in a town that they arrived, she realized that the bandits were here as the only reason to stop them from looting was the demons. They could not recognize who was a demon and who wasn’t. Eventually, the bandit whose hand was chopped off took Claire, and Teresa finally lost it, killing that man as well as the leader, as she was pursued by the organization. She initially resigned to her fate that she was getting killed as Claymores were not allowed to kill any humans, but attacked the other Claymores as she wanted to live. The black coated man asked to call back #2-#6 of the Order.
Claymore is definitely getting better and better with each episode. I have been quietly impressed with the series, despite the fact that it starts off as a rather shounen series. However, at the turn of the fourth, it just keeps getting better! I am really impressed with the appearance of Teresa, who is definitely a very interesting character, with a really complex character in terms of behavior. She could care less about what humans do to her, even raping her means totally nothing.
Yet, when Claire is about to be assaulted (probably sexually), Teresa completely lost it and she gives no indication whatsoever about it. It is clear that Teresa is also abandoned like Claire, and it seems that the story of each Claymore lies a pitiful tale in which they are either abandoned, mistreated or tortured to become half-demons. I am getting more curious with each episode on how they actually turned into half demons, considering that Claire is in fact a human originally.
Oofuri Furikabette Episode 5

This episode is the continued practice match, firstly with Mihashi being struck out by Kanou. When Mihashi is the one pitching, Kanou is clearly very serious over Mihashi, and Abe took advantage of it to strike him out on first base. It was clear the slide took a dip on Kanou’s fitness as he allowed a walk, then a bunt, a RBI double for Tajima and another run with an outfield flier. Kanou’s team mates continued to think light of Mihashi until Kanou told them that it was not the case. Eventually, they settled the nerves of Kanou as they finally felt like winning. Mihashi clearly was keen to return back to his team and Abe told himself that the team needed him and he will convince Mihashi that his catcher was him.
I really am getting addicted with the baseball game after learning more from the game, making me appreciate this series quite a bit more. I bet that I will be totally clueless when they say “RBI”. I was like hearing RBI double, RBI single in the game so much that it got me somewhat curious to find out that it is Run Batted In. Sigh. To add on, Mihashi is definitely bothering on the “he’s pretty funny, yet pretty annoying” section of the character profile. Nevertheless, it is clear that he is definitely a very hardworking person that you have to admire for, especially after such an oppressive period with his previous team.
To add, I really feel how Abe is, especially when he realized the power of Mihashi. Considering that baseball is often thought in untrained quarters and those of an amateur status to be more fastball for 4seam and 2seam with a special throw, Mihashi’s extremely great ball control, and the very fact that he has four different types of throws make him an extremely deadly pitcher, and a batter’s nightmare (I only know this after the game when this bloody computer pitcher had 5 pitches and I cursed and swore after missing every single bat. I eventually let him get tired by getting him to throw tons and hit better after that ^^).
Anyway, I am also glad that Hanai did something good in this episode, being a sacrificial hitter to let Tajima get a run in. I am happy but I do hope that Hanai is better than that. He is seen now as a hot air person but I believe if he bothers to bat properly, he can be the second weapon since he does have good observation skills and a mean bat to boot!
Kamichama Karin Episode 6

Karin was asked by Kazune to do some judo practice for her goddess role, as her power was still unstable and he wanted her to learn how to break a fall to escape. She wanted to fight properly instead and quarreled with Kazune. Consoled by Himeka, she regained her composure. In school, Karin’s class was setting up a costume cosplay party for the festival, and she saw a very beautiful dress. Eventually, she picked up a panda suit but changed it to the beautiful night dress with the class representative. When Himeka was told by the person she loved that she looked queer in the sumo costume, Karin changed her costume, wearing the sumo instead. However, she forgot about her invitation by the handsome senior to visit her.
Kamichama Karin is my loli show for this season and it continues to make me happy with some really cute scenes. I mean, Karin is just about the most bratty, annoying, yet crazily cute mahou shoujo girl that I have seen. She is not tsundere, she is not cute, she cannot even be described by anything else other than “OH-SO-GOSH-SO-DARN-CUTE!”. I also completely adore Himeka. For some reason, the seiyuu sounds a bit fresh, yet the voice is just so endearing. I just keep thinking about her smile!
On the plot itself, the plot is of course rather wafer thin. It’s simply good comedy in this series, as well as some funny parodies (I like it in a previous episode when they make her totally inapt at house work and academics, since mahou shoujo girls suck at it). The God Thunder call is just totally out there, as well as “I am God” part. Nevertheless, it is a good relaxing show to watch after watching those intense drama series!

Himeka should really say:
“Oh Chikane-chan~~ we really shouldn’t be doing this”
oops… wrong show… Go figure it out ;p
Jun added these pithy words on May 14 07 at 8:56 amGo read H2 and the other baseball manga and then you’ll be able to appreciate just how different Oofuri really is. Oofuri is damn bloody good. The OP rocks too.
tj han added these pithy words on May 14 07 at 12:15 pmOokiku is great, but if you want a really great baseball series, check out Princess Nine, it was one of my first anime as a little kid actually and I liked baseball for a while when I watched it (till I realized I totally suck at it!) and I also reccomend Slam Dunk, starts off cheezy but gets really good, I love basketball and Slam Dunk had some great episodes (the thing is like 2 epsiodes are dedicated to like the last quarter of the game so it’s reeeeallly strecthed out sometimes.)
Chris added these pithy words on May 14 07 at 2:36 pmAfter caught up with the latest issues of Claymore manga I’d say this show will just keep getting better exponentially if they can keep up the production quality and not censoring too much.
This current arc which eventually leads to how Clare turns into claymore is kinda sick too, I wonder how they’ll show it. So far they still haven’t explained how exactly humans are turned into claymores besides dropping a few hints here and there in the manga though =\
Hao added these pithy words on May 14 07 at 4:54 pmi absolutely loved episode 6 of Claymore. Although i have not read the manga, the anime itself continues to keep a high standard of animation and execution of the plot. Love Teresa… insanely perfect
chrry370 added these pithy words on May 15 07 at 2:52 am@Jun: I am too lacking in knowledge to know. I don’t get the joke desu T_T
@Tj: Arrr, I wish I have time but I don’t even have much time to blog and watch anime these days, much less picking up more of them for myself. I will take note of it though ^^
@Chris: I guess the thing that Oofuri appeals to me is the main lead. Yes, Mihashi is annoying but he is also one of the more unique main characters. Usually, main characters in sports are either bratty and strong, super talented and all that. However, Mihashi is one who firstly lacks any confidence, and yet trains extremely hard. He is also one of a few that is dependable more on control and variety rather than some fiery power blow.
@Hao: Wow, that’s really good news for me. I do wonder if they will censor quite a bit. The thing is that extreme violence (think Elfin Lied) will make my stomach upset.
Nevertheless, the arc about Clare being claymore is something that is perhaps a huge basis of the show, and I do hope that it will be cool.
@Chrry370: I want to worship the goddess, and I don’t read the manga too so you are not alone for sure. teresa is god. God, god and god again.
Impz added these pithy words on May 15 07 at 3:24 ami agree with you bout claymore 6 …its pretty sad and yet its very interesting each episode you watch u cant stop yourself. i loved it when teresa lost it and pwned the bandits yet she didnt even care about the claymore rule.
mia added these pithy words on May 15 07 at 8:19 amBeen some time since I get to come to the blog! I really missed watching anime while backpacking Europe… which is why I’m not going to be here much when I haven’t watched most of the animes and didn’t want to be spoilt. But… I watched this episode of Claymore the day I left Singapore, so yippee! I can comment!
I really do enjoy this episode, because Teresa appears to be the strongest Claymore in existence. I wonder if Claire will learn something from this, like how she could fight demons without turning demonic. It seems as if Teresa is actually the only person who can do it so far.
Claire as a kid is really pretty cute. ![]()
u really MUST get more pix of Himeka, Karin and Kazune. Like the parts where karin anf Kazune look like a KAWAII couple!!!
