Wow, this episode literally kept me to the edge of my seat on the word go. This is really a very revealing episode, with some really huge discoveries. For one, it is perhaps one of the episodes where a few plots are running across in parallel directions. I do wonder if any of the sub plots have any relationships with each other, since we do know that Saiunkoku Monogatari is usually well thought in terms of weaving the seemingly different plots together.

ah thanx so much, i heard that the first season of this gotan R1 licence so ppl can now watch it in DVD quality ![]()
My god..u r quick! I am still looking for the torrent…have been staring @ my laptop like a hawk! haha
kurixkuri added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 12:22 pmThanks for posting the summary so quickly! With the announcement of licensing, at this moment, you’re the only source of English translation for those of us linguistically challenged. I hope you will keep up the great work–there are so many non-Japanese-speaking fans of this wonderful show and so little pity on us by the subbers out there. And such a long way to go before the licensed stuff catches up with the us!
You’re right–there were a lot of surprises in this episode. I was really shocked that Shuurei handed back Riou’s shawl, despite Shouka’s urgent warning for her to leave. I mean, how often has she seen her “mild-mannered” papa act like that? Never? You’d think his demeanor would’ve struck a warning note with her, but then Shuurei’s courage/recklessness has gotten her into trouble before. Do you suppose her actions were meant to show that she’s not papa’s little girl anymore? Shusui’s reaction to Riou tells me that he’s probably not as pretty on the inside as he is on the outside. She obviously felt threatened by him, so I’m sticking with Shouka as the good guy here.
The other surprise/question I have is about Eigetsu. Does his galloping off into the sunrise/sunset mean he’s leaving his governor’s post or is this somehow related to his job? Your description sounds like he’s giving up the governor’s job, which is kind of bad timing with Shuurei out of town, though Ensei can certainly handle it in the meantime. I guess as Eigetsu’s days are numbered, he can’t really wait around to do whatever he has to do. As to whether or not Eigetsu will live, a little birdy told me that good things lie in store for Eigetsu/Kourin, so I guess that means it’s not over yet for him. And it has something to do with Sakujun’s ghost! Hee-hee! Rumors, rumors… I’m just glad that SOMEBODY’S relationship in this show is moving forward, and Eigetsu and Kourin are adorable and heartbreaking. I suspected that Yougetsu was one of the Enlightened as well, but only time will tell.
Thanks again for taking the time to post these summaries. I would be totally lost and frustrated without them!
sakujunsghost added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 12:26 pmlucky I have downloaded the whole first season,!
na2niet added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 12:41 pmThanks a lot for the summary. This is the only site where i could find out about the second season of saiunkoku. I’d go nuts if i didn’t know what was going on.
So..it is true that Riou is the the guy who imprisoned the bara-hime? I honestly don’t think Shouka is a bad guy. I’m pretty sure there were reasons why he “stole” people from riou. I assume that Riou was some sick, twisted weirdo, judging from the fact that he called Shurrei as a “thing.”
It would be interesting if he does takes Shurrei to the place of the Hyou clan. We would be able to find more insight about the clan and Shurrei’s mother.
I now sort of miss Sakujin.
sharpie added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 1:38 pmHehehe, and people wonder why I hooked up with Impz. I had a feeling that this anime will be licensed so…:D
Anyway, I won’t say much here but I’ll discuss it with goshujin-sama soon. All I can say for now is that, if Shouka and Seiran are no match to protect Shuurei from Riou’s threatening presence, then my bets are on either Ryuuren or Ryuuki. ^^
ThirteenSugars added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 3:16 pmI am sooo dying to know more about Riou, Bara-hime, and Shouka; for some reason, they give me the whole Lacan-Sophia-Krelian vibes, which is definitely a good thing for me.
Thanks for the summary impz, I suppose this will alleviate my craving for the subs for a while. ^_^
kos-jin added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 4:21 pmThanks for the summary again ^^
All those questions have been answered in the novel and I hope they stay faithful to them in the anime
Hyou clan have a very interesting dynamics to both the Shi clan and Kou clan(Shouka and his daughter in particular).
I don’t think this will be revealed in season 2 as it just came out in the novel but minor spoiler (background info on Hyou clan):
Hyou clan headed by Riou was founded by the sister of the first emperor of saiunkoku. The emperor Shougun who we see in ep 1 for whom the 8 sages reconvened because he was such a great emperor.
end spoiler.
I’m still not clear on Hyou’s ‘humanity’ He appears like a ghost but apparently he just has supernatural power and is actually very very old despite his look.
lady kou added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 6:19 pmso was Saiunkoku recently licensed? Cuz i’m hearing news of it coming out on dvd, bu6t i always thought the show got licensed, was played on some tv channel, and then after all that, THEN it got a dvd.
x___x”
haha, dang, as much as i love Saiunkoku and am glad that it’s licensed, i was following the Shadow Dreams subs, and they only relased up to ep34…
*sigh*
;__;
I hope Eigetsu makes it through, i mean, he’s one of the main-ish circle of characters! I’m guesssing Yogetsu’s some powerful spirit or something,
haha
I miss Sakujun though, i wonder when he’s going to appear agian
thank you very much
Tae added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 8:32 pmGoodness Impz! you’re so fast =P
Trying to show Saiunkoku some more love as I’ve decided to blog about it too, but I don’t think I can compete with your speed… LOL XD (I have yet to watch episode 5, as I speak x__x)
@Raincloud: hahaha! yes, it’s finally in dvd quality and I hope it’s exposed quite a bit more!
@Kurixkuri: hehehe ^^ i am a scary stalker at bittorrents~
@Sakujunsghost: Hah, I am just fearful that my summary might be a bit too long sometimes since I tend to ramble on and on and on, and I hope it does not turn off many other people since this anime does have quite a bit of plot development that requires work to describe.
I do not think that Shuurei has ever seen Shouka in such a state. You have to remember that Shuurei’s notion of Shouka is a ditsy, clumsy and mild father that cannot do housework to save his life, rather than a deadly assassin slaying people easily previously in the Black Wolf Clan. Shusui is clearly threatened by Riou as she is in fact trembling. It is clear that Riou is not a simple foe, with a heart that is perhaps rather malicious that even Shouka feels threatened. The Black Wolf clan is perhaps the most powerful force last time, and if the head is threatened as well, then it’s a huge problem.
To add, I believe that he is leaving his governor’s post since his days are numbered. He wants to try and rescue a few people in the town, make them happy, rather than staying in the governor’s house and wait for death. I do not think it’s a bad timing since most of the work has been done and life has been more stable, and Shuurei and Youshun as said by Eigetsu can handle it. I guess I can understand why he did so because he knew that he can do nothing at all now but he could at least make one or two people happy by merely being there. I hope he lives though, because i so adore Kourin/Eigetsu T_T
@Na2viet, Tae: hehehe ^^
@Sharpie: Glad to be of service to you, but it seems that Riou is the one who imprisoned the Bara-hime, loved her a lot but Shouka is perhaps the one that gave her freedom, as in the story. Well, he did not call Shuurei a thing but the translation of that line goes ” The things that you have stole from me, I will get it back now”. So, he is not calling Shuurei a thing, yet ermm, hell, what in the world am I saying
I do wonder if Shuurei will go with him though, but that will be an interesting plot of its own to be honest. I will be keen to see it and I hope Sakujun returns as a knight in shining armor!!!
@13sugars: -_-;;; You hook up with me simply for Saimono. Wifey, you made me sad ;_; We will definitely discuss Saimono when you get home ^^
@Kos-jin: Lacan ermm Sophia who? Sorry, I do not really get the context of your inference. If you are back, please explain a little and why it is similar
@Lady Kou: From my informants (aka my girlfriend), it seems that the anime has stayed rather faithful to the novels at the very least, which is perhaps why it is such an excellents how for me. I believe that the “humanity” of Riou is rather suspecting if you ask me. Thanks for the little spoiler, it doesn’t hurt as it seems more like background knowledge
@Lock VII: Rather recently, Geneon did it. Hahah, Eigetsu to me is a character that is not really touched that much, and i am glad for his character development. Don’t let him die though, poor Kourin, MY KOURIN will be sad.
@usagijen: Lol, it’s not a competition. Well, it is, in terms of getting information but yes, everyone needs love and I think Saiunkoku Monogatari definitely deserves more love than what it is getting right now for sure ^^
Impz added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 9:03 pmImpz: Oh, so sorry; I’m being random again, I suppose. I’m not sure if you’ve heard/played the game, but Sophia, Lacan and Krelian are from the Squaresoft game Xenogears. From what little I know from Saiunkoku (and from the spoilers I got from the novel), Bara-hime seems to be treated as some sort of a symbol or something like a goddess by these men, as which is the same thing I got from Sophia. The whole love triangle thing is, of course, part of that, as well as the ambiguous motive of Riou (like Lacan).
Ha! This is all just me being silly, of course. So don’t mind me. ^_^ Hopefully, though, those three (Riou, Bara-hime and Shouka) would get fully fleshed out as I am very, very interested with their story.
kos-jin added these pithy words on May 05 07 at 10:34 pm1. Who do you think Yougetsu is, considering that he has such powers to keep Eigetsu alive? Is he a spirit or perhaps *gasp* one of the eight immortals?
Yougetsu/Eigetsu=Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde?Hmm..doesn’t really fit.I personally dislike Yougetsu.I am not sure whther i should consider him a villain or not but it seem like he is going to have a bigger role in the future.LOl,it would be interesting if he is one of the 8 immortals but i would say that it is VERY UNLIKELY.Spirit…..hmmm not sure about that one.I seldom come across an anime where a character has two personalities.I dont feel comfortable whenever Yougetsu appear, but i would like to know more about him.
2. What do you think Riou will do in order to get Shuurei?
By using some dirty tricks or slowly manipulate her to his side or forcefully take her away. That Riou seem like a MALICIOUS person.Given Shouka’s personality,i am sure he has a damn good reason for disliking/hate Riou.Perhaps Bara Hime in the past has some sort of relationship with Riou?Shouka killing so many people….is that the reason why he act like kind of carefree although he was kicked out of the Kou household because his hands are stained with blood.Maybe he purposely act like an incompetent person so that people would view him useless and he could not become the HEad of the Kou Clan and able to spare them the danger that surround him.No doubt that Shouka is dangerous but he is dangerous to only those who deserve it.
3. Do you think that Eigetsu will pass away and will there be a miracle to keep him alive?
Hmm……I don’t think he will pass away.Even if he will,he will live again. He is an important character and i look forward to see him more.If Saiunkoku is the type of anime where “all characters live happily ever after” in the end, chances are he may survive this. But SaiMono is not that type of anime. It’s really hard to say anything but my instincts tell me he will die for a while then live again because of a miracle like you said.
4. Is Taiyou going to be a difficult person or a benevolent one? (This should be obviously yes, so not really a question)
Yeah, that dude is a difficult person.Almost all the old men in SaiMono are meanies/villains/superintelligent.
Ah……..more of Kouyuu.LOL,he kept thinking about that stupid love scene! Is that love or is he still in the state of shock of having to marry Shuurei? Can’t really blame that poor guy. After all, what do you expect from a person that dislike women and suddenly face with the prospect of marrying one of them?He sure is surprise with that.I wouldn’t call his feelings to Shuurei as love yet.Still too early. The flower of love has not blossom yet.
Oh,oh and i wish that the kissing scene between Kourin and Eigetsu lasted longer and MORE PASSIONATE,LOL.
polaris added these pithy words on May 06 07 at 12:27 amPoor Kourin. She feels that anyone she loved will pass away soon.
maglor added these pithy words on May 06 07 at 1:00 ami was so sad when the fansubbers all stopped fansubbing upon hearing that season 1 is licensed o.O thanks lots impz for the summary. i’ve been surviving with your updates while i am lost in translation.
anyway, they’ve finally decided to elaborate more the the black wolf clan! cuz it was introduced at the start of the first few eps of season 1 and dropped until now. yay! i hope that shuurei’s life will not be too much of a danger though.
i was rewatching season 1 on kouyuu. it seems kinda strange when he’s reaction to kourin’s suicide attempt was: ‘that’s why i hate women’; but when shuurei was first introduced to him and shuuei, it was: ‘the daugther of shouka whom you’ve admired so much’. it’s kinda contradictory… unless there’s some error with the subs (which i hope not!). but i kinda like kouyuu/shuuei’s friendship, they do seem kinda gay at some point. :p
yeah! kourin/eigetsu is such a touching scene!!! i wonder what will happen to the co-governing authority of Sa province with eigetsu gone. after all, yougetsu doesn’t seem like the kind who will bother about governance, does he? as much as it doesn’t matter with his absence, it doesn’t relinquish our heroine from her responsibility from governing the Sa province so that ryuuki can sweep her off her feet… sigh, we’ll have to wait long long for that pairing to happen.
btw, does anyone know how long this season will be?
once again, thanks impz for the quick summary!!! ![]()

Hm…I thought the reason why Shouka got booted out of the Kou clan was because he married Shurrei’s mum. I also think there must be some really good reason justifying the “stealing” done by Shouka from the Hyou clan.
Now Saikujun seems like an angel in comparison…lol
O_O Shusui is/was the wife of Riou? EH? When did the say that? I thought she was adopted by Shouka when she was a little younger?
Leenie added these pithy words on May 06 07 at 7:57 amHey! Thanks for the summary. Does anyone know why Seiran was so worried about Shurrei’s description of Riou? Is there another missing clue in Seiran’s past that we are not aware of?
Sibelle added these pithy words on May 06 07 at 10:05 amDoes anyone think Serian knows Shouka’s true identity? It seemed that when Shuurei mentioned Riou’s crest, he was bothered by it, as if he knew something. It’s so tough to read anime body language, not knowing what they’re saying! It’s hard to tell who knows and who doesn’t. Shuurei is definitely clueless, as always, but so far it seems that only Shusui and Shou know the truth. Man, if Shuurei had hung around for another minute, she would have seen a whole new side of her ditzy daddy. Now, at least I understand how Shouka peeled and sliced that orange so fast in last week’s episode!
sakujunsghost added these pithy words on May 06 07 at 11:48 am1. Who do you think Yougetsu is, considering that he has such powers to keep Eigetsu alive? Is he a spirit or perhaps *gasp* one of the eight immortals?
My my my i hope so. if he’s one of spirits that have such powerful influence to eigetsu then it might b trump card for shuurei in the future in order to against riou
2. What do you think Riou will do in order to get Shuurei?
i have no idea but i think the scene of shuurei’s mother and father will repeat once more with the change shuurei in her mother place and ryuuki in shouka’s place(i hope).its true that bara hime hates shouka when they 1st met and after shouka take her, she sometimes try to run away from shouka (from the story i learn in epi 39) so i do much wish that ryuuki is the one who save shuurei
3. Do you think that Eigetsu will pass away and will there be a miracle to keep him alive?
there must b miracle to keep eigetsu alive. its anime where good things always come to those who wait (i hope)
4. Is Taiyou going to be a difficult person or a benevolent one? (This should be obviously yes, so not really a question)
not really. i think he will help shuurei so solve the problem of spreading illness
oh my god i’ve read the novel summary so i can bear the feeling to know the ending of saiunkoku(not this season ending but the real ending of the series-too greedy-yokubari yo!)
nakaya added these pithy words on May 06 07 at 7:40 pm@Kos-jin: Wow, I actually played the game but forgot the names of the characters. I am embarrassed ;_; i only remember Fei and Citan and Emeralda.
@Polaris: I feel the same with you on most of the points, particularly on Yougetsu. As much as this “beast” is the one that keeps Eigetsu alive, I really dislike his “I don’t really care what happens” attitude. i believe that it lacks humanity and he does not even sound remorse when he said it. Bara hime is perhaps his wife then, and Shouka killing so many of his clan mates will mean a strong hatred for Shouka. Because of his stained hands, he also dropped as the head of the Kou clan.
I believe that Riou must have done something to make Shouka hate him so much, but Shouka’s hands are definitely not that clean too. I will not say that any of them are good guys, but Riou definitely will do something more drastic.
Yeah, that dude is a difficult person.Almost all the old men in SaiMono are meanies/villains/superintelligent.
It’s better to put it as everyone in the darn show is way too intelligent
And it will be really queer if it’s more passionate. THEY ARE ONLY LIKE 12-14????
@Magior: I feel the same T_T
@Sunny: I have no clue how long this season will end but I feel that Kouyuu and Shuuei’s relationship is definitely not gay at all, hahaha! For one, they seem more like a bickering friendship, which is very common and cute in a queer way. Nevertheless, I do not really think that they will happily kick Eigetsu away without a fight. i believe that taiyou holds the key to save Eigetsu.
@Kuri: Nope, it’s his stained hands from killing, i believe.
@Leenie: I don’t think so. He simply said Shouka took Shusui away from him, but I have no clue what it means. His wife/maid/servant? no clue.
@Sibelle: I believe he is worried because as explained by Ryuuki, there was a strong struggle between the Hyou clan and the secret Black wolf clan, and it is apparent that the two were dangerous forces. Seiran, being well placed and knowledgable in the issues of the throne, will definitely know quite a bit about Riou, especially the crest/insignia of the Hyou clan. That is perhaps why he knew so much and worried, since he probably knows about Shuurei’s mother…and hence Shuurei’s blood line. The last line is my speculation though.
@Sakujun: I don’t think he knows as yet, but he probably has some bit of an inkling. Still, I do not think that such a hidden clan such as the Black Wolf clan will be known by anyone, much less the secret head, Shouka. I believe that Shuurei is quite petrified by both Riou and Shouka to stay too long.
@Nakaya: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, no spoilers desu :). Hah, I believe that what you said about the Bara-hime changing into the story focused on Shuurei is highly possible and there will be somewhat of an irony. In my humble opinion, I believe that the person to save her this time will be Ryuuren. Just a gut feeling.
Impz added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 12:56 amYou are my hero. I love how soon you have these out, especially since I can’t understand hardly any Japanese and I am awful at finding good downloads/torrents/summaries. BTW, those of you who have access to summaries of the novels, where do you find them, because I have been looking and haven’t had much luck. Anyhoo, yeah, I think it is likely that Eigetsu will somehow live, largely because it wouldn’t make much sense to spend so much time developing a character that is going to die so early on. Also, I think it is likely the Ryuuren will come to the rescue. He is sort of like a wild card, he comes to the rescue when nothing else makes sense. Anyway, keep up the good work. I would cry if you ever stopped summarizing these. ![]()
Yet me again! Finally got my hands on this ep. Anyway, i also got an inkling that the whole problem that Eigetsu is facing will be solved by the books that his father/teacher/benefactor person sent him just before he died. It will be too sad if he died (i mean his soul - screw Yougetsu! haha)
From the general idea i got from last season, it seems that Seiran knows a lot about Shouka’s past, maybe not about Shurrei’s mum but definitely about the wind wolves.
Ryuuren seems to be a good tie breaker/wild card as well, as he himself seems to be shrouded in mystery and not having much screen time lately.
Also on the point of Shouka having the blood stained hands - for him to be passed on as the clan head, that means that @ least someone in the Clan must know about his secret, and i dont mean his brothers…cause surely they had to explain why they passed the eldest over.
Ok now another few days wait for the next episode!!!
hi ^_^ this is my first time to post so allow me to rant..hehe
I seriously hope that Shuurei stops acting stupid sometimes. She is not only oblivious of the things that goes on around her but she has a way of running right into trouble. I’ll bet my foot if she doesn’t get “swayed” easily by this new guy. When stuff like this happens normal women resist and fight back seeing as she is portrayed as this strong woman and yet she acts like a damsel in distress (when it comes to guy’s).
^_^ on Eigetsu it’s quite sad he wasn’t able to see his “father” die. And now he’s going to fade away too. sheesh Too sad! Maybe Yougetsu will allow himself to fade in favor of Eigetsu living instead.
on Ryuuren, I thought he wasn’t the type to get involved in politics and stuff and yet he shows up where he is needed. His clan’s (Ran) specialty is obtaining classified information right? Maybe they allow him to travel to get more information?
asrai added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 11:00 amAsrai: ” seriously hope that Shuurei stops acting stupid sometimes. She is not only oblivious of the things that goes on around her but she has a way of running right into trouble. I’ll bet my foot if she doesn’t get “swayed
kos-jin added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 5:04 pmHmm, she stood on her own two feet and declined the help that was offered to her though when she had to get her flower back from Sakujun.
Shuurei is only human and whilst there are times she has needed rescuing there are other times where she’s stood her ground despite the dangers of the situation.
Strength isn’t just measured in the ability to fight off the attentions of a guy. She is strong where it counts. She is strong in her beliefs and her convictions. She is strong in her duty to her country and her loved ones. She will always try to help someone whenever she can, even if it were to put her in danger.
Frankly given the level of prettiness around her I think its amazing she manages to keep her head as well as she does! ^-^
And I’m sure when it comes to guys, thanks to her family, she’s probably been very sheltered when it comes to men. Plus due to her fear of love she’s probably avoided the opposite sex as much as she could.
So I don’t think of her as weak just because she gets flustered by a guy. Its perfectly normal. I’m not exactly stupid, I speak my mind, stand up for myself and for those I love. I’m not exactly a weak person, but I get very shy and nervous when a guy is showing me attention and hubby usually has to rescue me.
Part of it comes from being sheltered and part of it, because I hate being mean and can’t just bring myself to tell someone to go away when they are pestering me.
Ahh I’m rambling, I guess my point is Shuurei is human and has her flaws but she is definetely a strong woman.
And rewatching episode one only made me fall in love with Ryuuki even more. He’s just so cute. And when Seiran was all sad over Shuurei not needing him I just wanted to hug him ^-^
I cannot say enough how much I love this show.
D.J added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 5:04 pmImpz, is it indicated in any of this season’s episodes that Riou has the ability to control people’s actions? I’ve read it on other discussions, but not having a straight translation, I haven’t picked that up from the show. If that’s so, it would explain Shuurei’s returning Riou’s shawl in spite of Shouka’s instructions–she’s under some kind of spell? It was said elsewhere that Shouka shouts at Shuurei to jar her out of her stupor. Did you get that impression?
Asrai, I don’t think that Shuurei runs into trouble because she’s stupid, though she does admit to being careless. I think she gets into sticky situations because she is an independent person and handles problems herself, without dragging anyone else into harm’s way. This girl has faced numerous hardships in her young life–death, famine, poverty, Papa’s tea–and is tough because of it. Her whole purpose in life is to protect others, and just about every man in her life comments that she’s been protecting him rather than the other way around. She tells Ryuuki early on that each person is responsible for his own well-being up to the limits of his ability. She continually pushes herself to these limits.
After all, how could a child of the Black Wolf not have a daring streak in her? The only thing that Shuurei is missing is some mad kung fu skills and some strategically concealed kunai. She needs to borrow Kanshou from Seiran and hook up with Advisor Kou for some serious training. She would be unstoppable, and there might be a new Emperess in town.
sakujunsghost added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 6:26 pmhello. i really happy for this summary. I love Seiran and i want to know if in the novel ,say more, about his past or not. I want more about Seiran, but he is not the most important here. snif. ahmmm. could give someone the link to the translation or summary of the novel? thanks a lot.
alym added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 8:11 pmkos-jin, I know just who you’re referring to when mentioned about who Shuuei is in-love with… I accidentally spoiled myself when I looked at wikipedia :p (so much for wanting to find out the reason behind Shuuei’s womanizing T___T)
sakujunsghost, it’s actually been mentioned in this episode, that the Hyou clan (particularly Riou) has the ability to manipulate people (as Shouka said), and control their actions (I mentioned about this in my episode 5 summary). so there, Shuurei’s going to have a really difficult time “fighting” against Riou *shivers*
usagijen added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 8:13 pmWoot! I know who Shuuei like too. Lol, poor guy…anyway…Yeah, I don’t think Shuurei is being stupid either, but she is certainly a magnent for trouble, isn’t she. I also wish people would explain things to her more clear. So many secrets…then again, some of them make for lots of interesting situations or laughs (like Reishin). I love Reishin. He’s such an amusing character…
Atrilial added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 9:02 pmThanks so much for the summary. The season is starting to get intense and making everyone question so many things. But that’s the best part, to not know what comes next.
simplyelena added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 9:42 pm@Atrilial: I have been called a goshujin-sama, a mocha, a trap, a lolicon but never a hero. This is very amusing. I am a superhero!!! *Sparkles*
Jokes aside, he is like a wild man and he is the first person who actually mentions about Riou, “Be careful of the silver haired person”. That should be a hint that he is keeping tabs.
On your second comment, Reishin is super amusing. His every action is just so adorable, to be honest. I adore him ^^
@Kuri: I believe that the books can save him but you have to remember that it means they have to find Eigetsu who is perhaps galloping into the mountain side saving a few lives before dying. I hope they make it in time. I believe that there is a possibility none of them do, and it is perhaps his marriage with the Hyou clan, as well as his insistence to leave. I just have a feeling Reishin knew most of it though. Reishin is way too smart and devious not to know any of this, and I can understand his admiration for Shouka even better now.
@Asrai: Rant? You can write an essay if you want to, ahaha~ Hah, I got a feeling that with the magical powers of riou, it is going to be very impossible for Shuurei to escape from his charm. I don’t think Shuurei is acting stupid, but she’s just thick, very thick. I mean when Youshun said, “I am sorry to disturb this cozy moment”, she had no reaction. Hmm, Ran does not care much about politics, but you have to remember that he has little friends.
I believe whoever he considers to be his friend will get unconditional help, much more to Friend #1 Shuurei. Shuurei really does not know how much help Ryuuren is giving her at the backhand method. He is awesome!
@Kos-jin: Tsk tsk tsk, spoilers as usual
Shuurei is generally oblivious to anything as stated above ^^
@D.J: I agree with DJ that she is not weak, but more like if people charm the hell out of you especially when you are a girl, it’s very hard to resist the effort. Honestly, if you have a hot throbbing hunk staring at you and telling you all the coolest and most charming words, it is almost impossible to summon that much willpower to resist. I agree with DJ that strength is subject to definition. One can be weak in some ways, but strong in others.
@Sakujun: I have not seen any inference but Shuurei simply thanked him for the scawl due to the cold. She is just well oblivious as usual. I think that as a child of the Black wolf, Shouka has tried to keep her away from such dark politics, which is why she is still rather naive in the field of politics. Honestly, i do not think she will ever know the truth about her father. Never.
@Usaji: Arr, so they did mention about his powers. I did not note that point at all @_@;;;
@Alym: Hah, Seiran? That seems like you are going to be similar with my wifey. ^^ My wifey is a huge fan of Seiran. Sigh, I tend to go O_O when she starts swooning.
@Simplyelena: yes, no problem ^^
Impz added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 10:35 pmUsagijen: It’s funny how the girl’s a lot like Shuurei in terms of being clueless though. Poor Shuuei indeed. Still, it’d be interesting to see their interactions, especially with the fact that she doesn’t seem to be affected by Shuuei’s looks. Must be a blow for his ego, haha. XD
kos-jin added these pithy words on May 07 07 at 10:46 pmOh recently picked up this episode due to websites being down and/or the May holiday for Chinese subbers and updaters. But hey, I finally got to watch this!
Love the way Seiran glared at Ryuuki and Shuuei, and both meekly taking it. Ryuuki is sooooo cute! *fangirlish swooning*
1. Who do you think Yougetsu is, considering that he has such powers to keep Eigetsu alive? Is he a spirit or perhaps *gasp* one of the eight immortals?
I don’t think Yougetsu is one of the eight immortals. For one thing, he is way too impulsive and callous; for another, he just gives off an immature vibe. He doesn’t have that deep bottomless mystery around him as with Sou Taifu and Sa Enjun. I still think he is a part of Eigetsu, maybe the 70% unused part of his brain (in pseudo-scientific hypothesis). I’m not so sure he really is a separate being from Eigetsu. But this is more a feeling, not supported by fact.
2. What do you think Riou will do in order to get Shuurei?
Do his worst! And I’m looking forward to seeing exactly what his worst is.
3. Do you think that Eigetsu will pass away and will there be a miracle to keep him alive?
Miracle, maybe. Otherwise there’s no point in bringing in the medical books from Taiyou.
4. Is Taiyou going to be a difficult person or a benevolent one? (This should be obviously yes, so not really a question)
Well, yes.
I don’t know who he is, but I’m interested in seeing him interact with Shuurei.
Salut a tous! Thank you for all the comments you all!!!
For those of you that have read the novels, where can I find them?[ either in english, french or spanish…that’s all i can speak ] I have been unsuccessful doing all kind of searches on wikipedia…
I loved this ep5- I don’t love Seiran but I ADORE HIM!!!
Where can I find the novels mes potes??? please…
@sibelle: i’m totally with you on that i adore seiran too, and he better get the girl..i know there’s a slim chance and all but the series still going on and there’s hope!!
ymseiran added these pithy words on May 08 07 at 8:46 amThanks so much for this summary! I love this series so much that I’m watching it raw, although I don’t understand much Japanese.
@ymseiran - yeah, I’m rooting for Seiran x Shuurei too!!
seiranfan added these pithy words on May 08 07 at 10:36 am@Impz: yeah… I believe Shouka mentioned it when he was asking Riou what was his motive for coming to Kiyou… then mentioned about him being the clan head and the clan abilities… o__o
@kos-jin: it’s a BIG blow indeed, especially considering that he’s doing all that for the girl to take notice of him
I’m still hoping that she’ll one day realize Shuuei’s feelings (well of course Shuuei has to do something else) or poor Shuuei will be lonely all his life =___=
as for the pairing I’m rooting for… I’m still hoping for Shuurei x Ryuuki to come true (despite the fact that it’s becoming farfetched… there’s still this little hope in me) >_
usagijen added these pithy words on May 08 07 at 6:38 pmAWWW Kourin and Eigetsu. That was so cute and bitter and sweet. -_- Kourin was trying to play hard to get haha
I’m also quite surprised by the first 5 minutes of this show too. I love how the author twists things around XD There is no doubt. The characters in Bara hime story are applicable to Shouka and Riou.
1. Who do you think Yougetsu is, considering that he has such powers to keep Eigetsu alive? Is he a spirit or perhaps *gasp* one of the eight immortals?
As for Yougetsu, I think I’ll just sit back and watch what he’ll do once he wakes up. He’s pretty interesting. ^.^ Ahh, I’m still feeling sorry for Eigetsu and Kourin.
It would be nice if they still linked Yougetsu’s character to Kourin. That I wanna see.
2. What do you think Riou will do in order to get Shuurei?
I think this was answered by one of the posters above. If he can really control someone’s movement, then he’ll surely snatch Shuurei away from them.
Riou has a sexy voice though. ^.^ Okay, that was random.
3. Do you think that Eigetsu will pass away and will there be a miracle to keep him alive?
I think he’ll survive because I REALLY feel that he will pass away and I’m always wrong with these speculation stuffs so we’ll see.
4. Is Taiyou going to be a difficult person or a benevolent one? (This should be obviously yes, so not really a question)
Haha rhetoric XD
ABOUT SEIRAN, I was having a little fangirly moment when he caught Shuurei’s hand and they showed a close up of his face. I heart him to bits *__* He’s completely feeling unneeded atm so he’s trying so hard to protect Shuurei. His stern looks at Ryuuki and Shuuei are so amusing XD He deserves more screentime in the plot. >[ I think he’ll drown in misery if he fails to protect Shuurei from Riou.
This is really news to me. Noone is going to sub Saimomo anymore? :’( I feel like mourning, but I won’t since I still have Impz blog. Let me thank you again for your meaningful summaries!
Ricaryx added these pithy words on May 09 07 at 1:10 amHi Impz and everyone!!! thank you for featuring Saiunkoku Monogatari season 2 again!! i enjoy your summaries very much.
With regards to your questions, well. i’m no expert but here’s my take on it.
1. Who do you think Yougetsu is, considering that he has such powers to keep Eigetsu alive? Is he a spirit or perhaps *gasp* one of the eight immortals?
I would guess that he’s like Shuurei’s mom, except that instead of dying when he passed on his “life force” to eigetsu, he instead decided to “take over”. or something like that. Maybe he’s from a subset of Hyou clan that was uh… semi-evil. or something like that.
2. What do you think Riou will do in order to get Shuurei?
Um… do what everyone else does, hit on her. haha just kidding. I dunno, maybe it’s not Shuurei he wants to “retrieve” or “get back”. Maybe it’s something else.
3. Do you think that Eigetsu will pass away and will there be a miracle to keep him alive?
I sort of cheated. I read somewhere that he won’t die. At least in the novel, he didn’t.
Hope to see you again next week. Don’t worry about brevity (or the lack thereof) we love it when you tell us about the details, right everyone? hahahhaa (especially when it’s about reishin. hahaha i’m so biased.) anyway, thanks again and more power.
Uruz 8 added these pithy words on May 09 07 at 5:15 amI LOVE this show even though I never saw it. I can tell by reading.
Tama added these pithy words on May 12 07 at 10:55 pmWoot! Thank you for the summary! It helps me keep tabs on what’s happening in SaiMono II. The silver ghost guy will probably be a repeat of what happened when Sakojun tried to woo Shurrei. Then he’ll probably die, but saying as it happened only once, I can’t say much about the matter.
And the Eigetsu/Kourin part: Yes! This is what shippers die for! A sweet reunion. But it’s so sad. And bitter. Please don’t die, Eigetsu! Because if you do, Kourin will commit suicide. More than twice, I should think.
Arigato Gozaimasu!!!!
I was watching this on veoh.com but its raw so i can’t really understand what they are saying……………..now i know!!!!!
Sayonara!!!
ryosakudin added these pithy words on Aug 25 07 at 5:30 pmhey, do any of you know where i can watch this website in english or chiness? pleasetell me!
Anna added these pithy words on Sep 05 07 at 1:14 pmAh joining the discussion heaps late, but Black Wolf is not really a clan. It was a group of assassins or secret forces (much like ninjas) who basically did the “dirty” work for the previous emperor, Seiran and Ryuuki’s father.
aliene added these pithy words on Oct 23 07 at 10:22 pm@aliene: yep, that is right. ^^ but the black wolf is nevertheless clan-like =3
