I have no idea why I started on this show but I guess it is just a random download with wifey and me in order to break the monotony of watching historical anime. It turns out that this anime, be it the most brainless and no-plot-at-all story, has caused me to laugh at the ridiculous and crazy slapstick humor. I guess it is the type of anime that is just the right length as it is only 4 episodes length in total. Anything more will literally kill my brain cells for me to go merely “Pipiru piru piru pipiru pi !”

Yes, if you are wondering, that crazy phrase is used by Dokuro-chan, one of the main characters of the show.

Warning: Gratification of gore after this click.

Story synopsis

dokuraoedit1.jpg

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan, a show vintaged at March 2005, features Dokuro-chan, an angelic assassin sent over to the real world from the future, in order to eliminate Sakura Kusakabe. Sakura was feared because he was going to create a machine that will turn all women into lolis (OH WOW!) and that Dokuro-chan is sent over to kill him in order for him to never discover the way of creation accidentally and reduce any need for his lolicon tendencies to grow.

However, Dokuro-chan did not want to kill him thinking that she can still reform Sakura and monitor him in his movements. This anime follows the antics of the main characters as they went through one hilarious scene over another, and generally making zero sense as well.

Characters

There are perhaps three central characters in this short-themed show. Each of them is hardly developed, but when you talk about a series with no plot, random laughter and a good dosage of ecchi, sexual innuendo and exceedingly dangerous encounters, that is not that important, I guess.

Dokuro-chan

dokurochar.jpg

A very short tempered, spoiled and club wielding angel from the future, she is the caretaker of Sakura. She has an incredibly dangerous club that will decimate Sakura easily with a good swing, before chanting the magical “Pipiru piru piru pipiru pi !” to make him recover. She has the appearance of a really cute loli, often using her appearance to sexually harrass Dokuro-chan. Nevertheless, she has the look of a lolicon and often tries to tempt poor Sakura with strong sexual innuendo, particularly using her body and blush to make Sakura think of rather dirty thoughts. Then, the whacking continues, and we rinse and repeat. Her halo should never be removed, if not she will have a serious case of diarrhea.

Sakura

The main male character is a very typical guy who probably is a rather innocent being, albeit having quite a perverted mind when induced with situations that are of a sexual nature. Following the philosophy of ADIDAS (All day I daydream about sex), Sakura’s deviant thoughts about Dokuro and the other girls in the vicinity often results eventually in him being whacked and killed by Dokuro. He also has a secret crush on Shizuki, one of his classmates but lacked the confidence to confess to her about his feelings. A well and normal guy, he often gets into rather tricky situations (read: sexual) with Dokuro and is considered to be a pedophile due to the various accusations by Dokuro-chan of the predictions in the future.

Saboto

Saboto is another angel from the future, but unlike Dokuro, she is very keen on laying the smackdown on Sakura. She is always keen to kill the living lights out of him with her Durandal, a metallic rod that releases a huge current of lightning to kill whoever stops her. She is usually polite even at the second before turning into a mega killing machine. She also has huge goat horns on her forehead.

Thoughts

I am not a huge fan of slapstick humor but this one just touches decently on the laughing part of me as I found myself laughing at the various sexual innuendos that are pretty obvious to the extent that you laugh at the whole notion of stupidity surrounding it. There is hardly any plot, which I already said for the third time, but it is still a little show that can be rather sweet at times. That is before Dokuro whips out her huge spiked club to cause carnage, with Sakura generally the victim of such vicious attacks.

In a way, the rather sadistic thought of the different ways in which Sakura gets tortured makes me laugh, and I guess it is the slightly different and warped nature of this humor style that gets to me. However, the anime is smart in which it stops right before the jokes ran dry, because it seemed that at the 7th to 8th episode, the jokes are already starting to repeat and I can see a pattern. It’s good that it stopped at where it did, because it will turn into a total mess, since such slapstick humor dies quickly.

Dokuro-chan is perhaps very adorable in the way she thinks, and I sometimes wonder whether those angelic wings are in fact stick-ons, or the notion of an angel or legal enforcer means to plummel whoever is in sight and frustates you immediately to a bloody mess. I guess this show does not take itself too seriously, which is good too, because I simply shut down my brain and watched it happily with my wifey. In a way, it tells you how brainless this show can be at times to watch such random shows to reduce your intellect.

If you are the anime fan that knows your history well, you will be glad that there are quite a bit of references to popular anime culture in this show, with shows such as Doraemon, Howl’s walking castle and One Piece inside this show. I actually caught only a few of these references inside this anime because I am too busy laughing at the sexual innuendo and series such as this and Class 5-2 tends to get to me quite a bit. Yes, the loli feeling is always good of sorts.

I will recommend this show if you just need to relax from work/studies and watch something short that can make your brain cells non-functioning for the short 1 hour 30 minutes that you will spend watching this series. If you are those who want at least a mediocre plot, this is not for you. If you like cute stuff though, this is perhaps good for you!

Oh my god. This is not brainless at all. Dokuro-chan is a satire of magical girl shows and is generally believed to have caused the downfall of the USSR, such was its influence in the literary world. Its ultra-right wing influences are known to be one of the factors through which George Bush came to power.

….wow, i am totally speechless at the powerful TJ’s comment on this. I totally am wowed over. I did not know that Dokuro-chan is in fact the series that will finally overtake NGE as the most dangerous and lethal weapon of the nations!

If you like Dokuro Chan, you might also like “dai mahou touge.” Pretty much the same type of anime. Both of them are pretty funny. lol

It started off pretty enjoyable, and started to taper off a little near the end. Still, a pretty good watch. :P

Dokuro-chan was the vilest show I have ever watched (or should I say, endured). The first half of the first episode was entertaining though.

If you want to see a show where actual humor is used where Dokuro-chan’s creators exhibited their creative bankrupcy, watch Muteki Kanban Musume.

I remember watching this a couple months ago and thinking it was the “beavis and butthead” of anime. It was really disturbing to watch yet I still managed to watch the entire series… x.X

@Harbin: I don’t think I will watch too many of such a show. As much as it is funny, it might kill my brain cells a bit too much to make me totally wacky.

@TheBigN: Ya, I also felt that because the jokes became more and more slapstick. For me, any form of slapstick humor will die off easily, which is why I generally stop watching any series that has that inclination to become total slapstick without any plot.

@Pete: Vile? Lol, it’s a good thing that I am watching it with wifey at short intervals and we somehow enjoy it nevertheless.

@Totali: O_O;;; Beavis and butthead. Well, it’s not that stupid as yet, I think. The violence, well, is up to interpretation though ^+^

My very first suggestion was to watch an h-anime together, but no, you ABSOLUTELY rejected it. You left me with no other choice but to suggest this show.

^^

I think this tv show was incredibly sexy, violent, and short, but There was only 8 episodes, whats with that? Are they going to make a secand ation packed series? This show was cool and funny, why end it?

This show can’t be adequately compared to Beavis & Butthead. Beavis & Butthead was actually funny.
