It’s been almost a year since the airing of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. Haruhi turned out to be extremely popular worldwide and its ED song Hare Hare Yukai became no exception. Fans have been inspired to create their own renditions of the song and dance from live-action choreographing to animations using all sorts of characters. Something that could have been due to the huge fan-base are the various versions of the original song which are sung by different seiyuus from the series itself.

Many of you probably already know about these songs but, my question to you all is:
Which version of Hare Hare Yukai do you think is the best version?

So here’s my rundown of each one:

The version that started it all… The original sets up the stage with a particularly upbeat tone that sort of says “everything will be alright

You know, I was thinking of blogging something like this, but it never got out…Good job, by the way.

Pretty fair comparison. I can see that if you let each of the individual singers of the original “Hare Hare Yukai” sing it, it WILL sound different. Goes to show how the three together made the great song what it is: GREAT.

    Tsuruya-san’s ver. kicks ass ~nyoro.

Oh, and another difference of the original and the three first other versions, I think starting from the reff the original has three voices–that is the normal melody, the upper and lower melody whereas the three single versions only has the normal melody and higher. Not sure if it’s correct because I didn’t listen to it that much…

I only have up to Vol. 5 for the character albums, so I can’t say much for the last 4. However as much as I give due reverence to Nagato-chi and Haruhi-sama, I like Tsuruya’s the most. I also developed a love for smoked cheese~nyoro.

I’d have to say I liked Tsuruya’s, Ryouko’s, and maybe Kyon’s versions the best, due to the different sound on two.. and the twisted lyrics of Ryouko’s, which sounded less WEIRD than Chihara Minori’s (remembering that Yuki, or at least anyone who’s not alt-Yuki, isn’t very genki).

Well, it’s freaky obvious how Tsuruya will be my first, followed by Kyon’s imouto simply because her lolistic giggles can kill.

    Don’t ever play that loli song near me, I start becoming all @_@;;;

Ryoko’s and Kyon’s are both awesome just for the revised lyrics. There’s just something about Ryoko singing about death and destruction in that sweet voice of hers that makes me laugh. COOL EDITION is also made of much win because of that.

For just pure musical enjoyment, though, I prefer Emiri Kimidori’s softer, gentler mix. It’s relaxing to listen to.

Needs moar IOSYS rendition of Hare Hare Yukai.

    Hey!

I think the original is the best, mainly because it varies voices and singing styles, which is good. Not far behind is Ryouko (awesome voice!) and Yuki’s version!

Do you know where I can get the lyrics for the different versions?

    Thanks!

Original first, but Emiri’s is a damn close second. It’s an absolutely amazing remix, I could listen to it endlessly. Then Ryouko. :P

    My order:
1-Suzumiya [You can't be hatin' on Aya]
    2-Yuki [Impressive]
    3-Emiri
4-Original [Changing voices is a little odd to me]
    5-Ryouko
    6-Tsuruya
7-Kyon no Imouto [lolol Sugar and Lazytown!?]
8-Mikuru [Sorry, but she can't sing too well (Mikuru Beamu!)]
    9-Kyon [Not my style]
10-Itsuki [I wanted to die while listening to this :c]
