You made Mika cry. The cicadas are also crying. Can you hear it?
Watching Episode 7 makes me feel reminiscent on a series that I adore in the initial stages, namely “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni”. There are in fact signs that all these characters are in fact pseudo killer lolis rather than the innocent beings that we know of them. Psuedo is the word since both series have loli-looking characters that are in fact not loli at all.
Do you already sense the deathly similarities among the two series?

Both series are similar in the fact that they often have shots of the water tap. Why? I have no clue because Manabi Straight happily spent 2+ minutes on a water tap, a slow moving baseball bat and people looking at each other. Still, both have a tap and with that, we hit the tip of the iceberg.
The similarities will get more haunting as we move on.
Remember the baseball scenes? Remember the baseball bat? You never know when it will appear.
The cicadas are here too in this series. They are out in force, awaiting the cries of the cicadas to drown out the pains of the victims.
Next, let us move to the characters. First up is Manabi. She looks to be always energetic but she suddenly suffers from Oyashiro’s curse and starts to blank out. The blanked out look is classic in the initial stages of the curse. Manabi will be the first victim.
Mei becomes Shion! Oh no!
It’s face distortion time! It’s time to fight as Mei attempts to “kill” Mutsuki!!!
Mei has the Oyashiro’s curse and assaults Mutsuki in a fury of blows.,Mutsuki tries to weaken Mei in order to cause Mei to receive the fated vaccine.
Wonderful right punch by a hypnotized Manabi. Who will win the battle of the killing fields? Sadly, no one told her that using a knife, a baseball bat or weapons of torture are more effective to hurt them. I guess Manabi Straight is a low end user of Higurashi’s methods. They are merely on the primitive level.
Mutsuki is badly outmatched by the two girls who are totally paranoid. What will she do to get out of the predicament?
Will Mutsuki become the first victim in this arc, the Manabiigoroshi-hen? Stay tuned to the next episode of Manabi Straight for the resolution of the cliffhanger.

Yeah… I saw that Mei screenshot and thought ‘Shion’ as well. 
That’s not QUITE at the Crazy Satoko-level ‘Uso da! USO DA!!!’ facial contortion… but it definite had a passing resemblance.
The rest of it… less so. But that Mei face…
hahaha, ya, when I watched the show and saw that face, i immediately went “OMG, HIGURASHI!”.
That was where the inspiration came for me to write a parody on it, hahaha! I always have really queer ways of finding inspiration on writing.

Higurashi!’ also ran through my mind - the clawed fingers, the wide-screaming mouth, the eyes… all it was missing was Mion or Shion Sonozaki’s stunning figure, or Rena’s knife or Satoko’s dilated pupils.
Although, for some reason, spaced out Manabi reminds me a lot of Kaede during her psycho incident…

1. She is not wearing an apron.
2. She does not have the psycho-moe factor of Kaede.
3. She has no figure to be naked on or to show someone. Oh wait, she has a brother right? I retrace my statements.

Yes, Manabi has a brother. No, she doesn’t feel ‘forbidden love’ feelings towards him - she just tortures him. You’re the one with the issues.

Manabi is doing a Rena-pan. Which is arguably the deadliest weapon ever conceived in Higurashi. Maybe she is Rena-pan-ing Mutsuki because she won’t let her take :3-tan home?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I think it might be because Manabi is not happy sharing Mei with Mutsuki and the very fact that Momo did not offer the chocolates to her but instead to Mikan or :3-tan!
