Red Garden Ep 16 - “Death of a brother”

Since Shinsen has released Episode 16, I will simply go for my thoughts which will probably be due to the fact that I have an immense backlog and lacking time to write too much. In my opinion, this is one of the best episodes in Red Garden due to the climax leading to JC’s death, and the fighting scenes are pretty good.
Personally, I found Herve’s words to be really powerful. It is possibly true, since he has no reason to really lie to them and it really confuses the situation. Initially, the girls are given the knowledge that Herve and his clan is the enemy. Now, we are given the truth possibly that both sides are simply fighting for survival and there is no right or wrong. It makes you think that Kate and the other girls are really pawns in this game where both sides are trying to get the cure of the curse back in order to recover.
What will happen to the girls? They would probably die if Herve and his clan got the other book, since they know now where the other clan is hiding. If they finally grab the book back from them, they would forget their memories. It is a dilemma that will eventually reach a losing conclusion for the girls, no matter what the outcome will be. All this will simply spiral into the hopeless future that they fear so much. I just got a feeling that this series will have one of the saddest endings ever and I do wonder how they are going to resolve the situation, considering that there is about 6-7 episodes left. Seriously, putting myself in their shoes, my first question will be this.
What am I even fighting for? Hope, I have none. Life, I have none. Relationships, I have lost all. Humanity, I am losing it.
In my opinion, I find it hard to convince myself if I am in their shoes.
Anna is also showing signs of weakening, which means that Herve will probably be turning totally desperate soon. It will be likely that he will be locked up, especially after showing himself to the enemy. It’s strange though that both Emilio and Herve are a match for 6-7 of the other clan. A full frontal confrontation looks exceptionally likely, especially when JC, the brother of Lula is killed. Revenge is definitely on the hands.
To end it off, I do wonder what the trauma will be on Kate after discovering Herve is making use of her all the time. Since Emilio has shown himself, what will his relationship be with Kate’s sister? Questions are presented ahead more than answers.

I really wouldn’t take everything Herve says as gospel truth, he has shown he can manipulate people and play with their feelings. Plus, there might be a way to get the girls back to normal which is not known to Herve (and yes, that would be a cop out). And even is there is no hope, the girls might want to fight to get revenge on Herve and his clans and maybe on Animus too. I love the unpredictability of this show.
I actually would believe him simply of one point. It is the very fact that he is working not for his clan, or for Kate’s clan, but simply to work for Anna’s survival. In that case, it will be better for him to tell the real truth in order to make the girls see how fruitless the battle will be for them.
Another thing is the fact that he smiled when Lula and JC appeared. It is clear that he knows that they are definitely in the area (very sure of that) and eavesdropping on the conversation (not sure), so it does make sense to force the girls to know the truth.
I honestly do not know where the girls will actually move for this series, since they have been told that they are fighting for a cause. What cause is it now, if either side is wrong? It becomes like war, where the fight is no longer righteous or anything, but for sheer survival against another victim.
It’s sad.
Herve smiled because he needed to find Animus if he was to dispel the curse, he used Kate as a bait but that hardly proves he was telling the truth. The Animus members seem to suffer from a similar condition as the girls but they don’t seem despaired. Maybe they are in their original bodies, though. But in any case, trying to make Kate see the futility of the battle might also be achieved with a lie.
And sure it’s sad but millions of soldiers have come through similar experience so at least some of the four girls should make it. Not that I would be complaining if it ends with a terribly depressing finale, provided it’s well done.
Well, you are right at that point by using Kate as a bait. Hmmm, that is possibly true even though the trauma for many is great, especially when we are dealing with two extremely weak-willed girls in Rose and Rachel. I mean, even Claire is not really a strong willed girl and Kate is just about the only person you can truly rely on to make a difference.
I just do not know what more to expect. I simply pray hard for them, since they no longer have the illusion of hiding behind a “crusader” mask but a true sense of a murderer.
